1:02🔗VoiceoverListener discretion is advised. Loveline, coast to coast.
1:14🔗AdamIt is the Loveline. I'm Adam Carolla. That is Dr. Drew over there. Phone number 1-800-L-O-V-E-1-9-1, fax number, I forget about that fax number.
1:23🔗DrewI don't know, it's the same old number. 310-854-445.
1:32🔗AdamDr. Drew, board certified physician, addiction medicine specialist, not the love doctor, a real doctor who happens to love you. It's just coincidence. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Nelly is the very beautiful young lady who's falling from the tree in her video and then body surfing or crowd surfing. I'll tell you that the video, and Drew I know you haven't seen Nelly's video because it exists and you wouldn't know what it is because you don't know of anything that exists but and I don't watch too many videos but it's it's so beautiful.
2:45🔗AdamAwful. Yeah. Yeah I got raped by a squirrel. Oh squirrel. No I don't have a buffalo up there, not at that altitude. But anyway it's just a spectacular looking video. You must have been playing with it.
3:00🔗Nelly FurtadoYeah it's very beautiful. It's all real. I did all the stunts myself too.
3:53🔗AdamYou know what this stands for? No, I don't know. You don't know what it stands for?
3:58🔗Nelly FurtadoYou know what? I have no idea. It's kind of like the Oscar, like who named the Oscars?
4:05🔗AdamThat's a good point. But Grammy is like Gramophone, right? That's the old record player. I don't know Oscar, but there's a story behind that somewhere. But I don't have four Oscars. If I had four Oscars, I'd know what they meant, right Drew?
4:26🔗Nelly FurtadoI know. And I know that the Sheila Copps has a she's a it's held in this thing called the Copps Coliseum. And I think I know more about her, but I don't know about I don't know what the Junos are named.
4:53🔗Nelly FurtadoSo the West Coast, we're trying to smuggle weed in Nelly, Nelly, British Columbia.
4:59🔗AdamNelly has herself a beside the CDs, got a nice big fat tour for herself. Is this the first tour of the United States?
5:07🔗Nelly FurtadoActually, it's my second tour. We toured before the record came out in August and September, and this is our second time out in the USA. Now we're touring Canada too.
5:17🔗AdamIt must be a little nicer to tour after the CD comes out.
5:28🔗Nelly FurtadoSeeing all the words. But the funny thing was, the first time I went out, it was like, I didn't notice there was really not many people at my shows because the ones that were there were like my first fans ever. So that means more than anything in the world when you first see real fans in the crowd.
5:43🔗AdamRight. But what size venues were you playing your first time around the United States?
5:47🔗Nelly FurtadoOkay. My first show was in Seattle at a place called the Crocodile Cafe and it fits about 300 people. And that was good because it was pretty full, but that's because it was full of like retailers and radio and record company people. So now the fans outnumber the record company people, which is a good thing.
6:06🔗Nelly FurtadoYeah. So now actually we played Minneapolis for 1,700 people and we had to turn away 400 at the door because it was pretty crazy and it's a sold out show. It's a sold out tour so far.
6:17🔗DrewSo you're singing Portuguese. Is that your first language?
6:22🔗Nelly FurtadoPortuguese, no. I spoke English at home, but I always learned Portuguese. It's my second language. My parents are both from the Azores Islands.
6:57🔗DrewIs it just you and me that happens to? We talk about it an awful lot.
7:00🔗AdamIt happens to other people, but they don't have radio shows, so we don't hear about it as much. Nelly will be in San Francisco tomorrow. Is that correct?
7:10🔗Nelly FurtadoYeah. These guys look exactly the same in person as they do on television.
7:18🔗AdamLos Angeles on the 16th and 17th, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Virginia, Washington, DC., New York, and Providence. So she's going to be a busy girl. All right. Well, here's something off the Woe Nelly CD in a second. Let's start by taking some calls and speaking to Tom, who's 28. Tom.
8:18🔗DrewIt might have an injury to your soul, but there are some cultures that really seriously suppress that kind of behavior. And there's sort of a bell curve to male sexual libido in that if you don't masturbate at all, it tends to drop the libido down. So the sperm production is down, testosterone levels drop. If you start masturbating, it will actually climb. And if you do it excessively, Adam, then it starts to drop off again.
8:44🔗AdamDare you make light of my hobbies in front of Nelly. Tom, what are you good for, let's say, a month?
8:55🔗CallerI can go for it and go for it like the best of the crowd.
9:00🔗AdamI understand you have amazing jack potential, but I'm asking what do you do a month normally?
9:35🔗Nelly FurtadoHe answered. He said he was in control. He says either twice a day or.
9:39🔗AdamNo, but it's like saying, what's your normal diet? I could eat a six foot sub or I could just eat a piece of tofu and some rice crackers and go to bed.
9:47🔗Nelly FurtadoSo you wanted to know his situation in this week.
10:49🔗CallerIn some ways, you know, some of your callers tell fibs to get on the air. I have deeper problems but what I want... I'm a firefighter. And I want to... What I'm asking is if you don't masturbate, does your physical...
11:27🔗Nelly FurtadoI thought they had to do some sort of... You know, like the week before the... You know, when they have very important soccer games.
11:33🔗DrewBoxing has that wives' tale forever, right?
12:18🔗DrewOkay. Have you been hospitalized or anything since then?
12:21🔗CallerNo. I've been going to this group counseling thing once a month, and then I just started really seeing a therapist, and I've seen her maybe twice, and I go once a week.
12:41🔗CallerNo, and that's the thing. It's like when I talk to, because I just started a new job, and they have a person that you can go and talk to, and he was telling me about drugs, and then I have a friend that was telling me about drugs, and I don't really want to get on them because I don't want to be like a victim.
13:01🔗DrewThey're drugs, they're medication, Danny, and they have zero addictive potential.
13:05🔗AdamHey Danny, why do you think he killed himself in front of you?
13:13🔗CallerNo, and that's the thing, it's like he wasn't on any drugs, and he wasn't like drinking or anything.
13:20🔗AdamWere you breaking up with him or something?
13:22🔗CallerNo, I wanted to go home, and he wouldn't let me go, and the reason why he had a gun was because he was an officer, a policeman, and so he just like reached for it.
13:39🔗CallerWith me before once, and then I heard stories like when we were at the hospital that he had like tried it before, and I guess like his brothers or like his aunt or somebody like stopped him.
13:52🔗AdamSo this was a totally spontaneous thing, you guys weren't arguing or anything?
13:57🔗CallerWe weren't arguing because I wanted to go home, and he wouldn't take me home.
14:02🔗DrewWere we living with him or something? No, I was at his house. Or was it the end of the date and you wanted to go home?
14:06🔗CallerOkay, like I was at his house, and like I don't stay too far. So like we were arguing because I didn't want to have sex with him. And then...
14:17🔗AdamI mean, I've threatened that, but I've never actually done it.
14:19🔗CallerAnd he was like trying to make me stay, and so I just said that I wanted to go home. And he just like kept making me like stay. And I was telling him, you know, I'm not breaking up with you. I just want to go home and we can talk about this later. And then he just like reached behind him because it was on like the dresser, and he just reached behind him, and then he just put it to his head, and then he just did it. He didn't say anything.
14:44🔗DrewThere's something missing in the story in terms of his preexisting problems.
15:16🔗AdamWell, I mean, physically in one piece. And it could have even been worse that way.
15:21🔗DrewAnd I think how aggressive that act is to put you through that. It is a terribly aggressive act.
15:27🔗AdamSounds like you're angry at him, but you're mourning his loss at the same time, right?
15:31🔗DrewWell, but not only that, it's, he's so aggressive to do that to someone else. You're very fortunate he didn't turn it on you. But I'll tell you what, this kind of thing almost always causes something called a post-traumatic stress reaction. And it makes it difficult to concentrate and you get very depressed and have panic attacks, have trouble sleeping, have trouble functioning at work.
15:58🔗AdamSo stay with your counselor and your therapy and all that stuff, Danny.
16:01🔗CallerOkay. I mean, so like what type of like medication should I take?
16:08🔗DrewIt depends on what you say, you know, I don't have the opportunity to really do a formal evaluation right here, but you see a psychiatrist who knows something about post-traumatic stress reaction and they would be able to easily prescribe the medic. Usually it's one or two pills and that's it. Danny, would you mind if we followed up with you in a couple of weeks and talk?
16:36🔗AdamI mean, you know, hey, I say street sweepers would have that high suicide rate. They just had a piece strapped to their thigh all day. I mean, that's the thing about guns. I mean, you know, this guy, you know what I mean? It was like a heat of the moment kind of thing.
16:58🔗Nelly FurtadoShe's concerned about the trauma, right? Is that what she was calling about?
17:02🔗DrewShe just wants to know if she should take medicine or not, really.
17:05🔗Nelly FurtadoAnd you're saying yes because of the acute symptoms?
17:08🔗DrewBecause these, yeah, this can be, you can prevent your functioning and cause terrible suffering and the depression from PTSD like this can become dangerous.
19:24🔗AdamYeah, I understand. In what position are you in when you masturbate?
19:29🔗I'm sitting down, standing up, usually sitting down.
19:34🔗AdamI see. And you know, see, the position that you're in when you masturbate, you should mimic that when you're having sex or your penis thinks it's masturbating and it's time to go. If you're having trouble orgasming with intercourse. You see what I'm saying? Yeah. You just stick with the same girl. You'll work it out. You got one off.
19:55🔗Nelly FurtadoYou're probably thinking about it too much, too.
20:25🔗AdamAt 16, I was in that versatile. But I soon realized that I could not take my room with me everywhere. So I had to I had to damp and overcome. Pardon the pun. All right. Let's take what you want to do. Want to hear Nelly's song?
20:42🔗AdamAll right. This is Nelly Furtado. This is I'm Like a Bird. Yes, that is Nelly Furtado off of Whoa Nelly. That is the CD. I like that song, and I love that CD. I mean the video, I should say. I'll go with the CD. Love the CD, too. All right, we will take ourselves a little break. Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys is gonna be in here tomorrow night. So Drew, you can finally get that T-shirt signed.
25:08🔗AdamAnd when we come back, we'll speak to Lisa. Lisa's 26, she's been married for four years. I'm just not sure if she's in love anymore after this.
27:05🔗AdamNelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Wo Nelly is the name of the CD. We'll hear something else off of that before the night is true. But now we're going to speak to Lisa's 26. Lisa?
27:19🔗CallerHi. How are you guys? I'm debating whether to leave my husband or not. Why? What's up? Well, we've been married for almost four years. And we've got kids. And our life has been pretty much chaotic from day one. Why? Just being with the kids, with my sons. And one of our sons is sick. He's got epilepsy. So I've been, like, had to leave my job. I'm home with him all the time and devoted all my time to, you know, keeping things straight and in order. And now that things kind of settled down and we're in a routine, I've had time to think about issues between me and him.
28:12🔗DrewNo, men, men don't really. And I've discovered this with the Mars Venus show is that men really women need, they want that need as much as we want sex.
28:20🔗DrewAnd the men have to have to teach us that.
28:23🔗CallerRight. And I, and I've talked to him about that. And we've before, you know, in between all of this stuff, we've sat and talked about things. We've gone through issues that, you know, things that I need, things that he needs, and it was fine for a couple of days.
28:37🔗AdamRight. You know what I love when they sit down and do that list? Women, she gives a laundry list of things she needs. Here's what's on the guy's list. I need you to leave me alone. That's what the guys need out of a relationship. I need you to leave me alone. I need not to meet so many of your needs.
28:54🔗CallerWhat concerns me is that at his age, you think that his sexual appetite would be like, like skyrocket.
29:19🔗DrewYou have two kids. You should be committed to this relationship and understand that relationships all have ups and downs and you should be looking at figuring out how to work it through. This is a down time in this relationship and on behalf of your kids commit yourself to getting through this.
29:39🔗DrewYeah, you don't understand that this is what...
29:41🔗CallerAnd I don't want to do that to my children.
29:44🔗DrewBut that's what you're going to throw in the towel when it actually sounds like you have a pretty healthy relationship. You sit down, you communicate, it's not right where you want it but you get it there.
29:52🔗AdamBy Loveline's standards, you guys should get an award. You should write a book. You really like Connie Selica and John Tesh by Loveline's standards. You guys should come out in a series of tapes.
30:43🔗AdamWell, actually, I'm laughing because I don't care. But, Lisa, you know what you're going to do? You're going to go out and have an affair, you're going to get caught, you're going to make sure you get caught, make sure he finds out about it. Try to summon something in him, try to rattle his cage a little. There's going to be chaos. Don't do it. Just work your own ass out without him and with him. Okay?
31:13🔗AdamYeah. I like gilting everyone who calls a show with kids. I call them mama. Mama. That means I got a job to do. Yeah, see, she wanted some chaos.
31:23🔗Nelly FurtadoThat was a good one. You guys are smart.
31:24🔗AdamOh, we know what's going on with all the ladies.
31:48🔗CallerYes. I'm 18 and I've known I'm really close to like all my family. I get a really close knit family, you know, and my aunt is like she's acting like really goofy, like over the summer. She lives out in LA. She used to live out here. And over the summer over there visiting her. And we were up late when we're talking and something about there was a pen sitting there and she's like, well, you know, it's like a phallic symbol. We should get that out of here. Yeah, like I might even know what that word meant. And I was kind of like, well, whatever.
33:17🔗CallerShe's coming to stay with my dad. And she's like she's been sending these e-mails and my dad found him. And he's been talking to me just like the e-mails are like, well, when your dad goes to sleep and, you know, we can like go in your room and, you know.
33:31🔗DrewWhat did your dad say when you talked to him?
33:34🔗CallerWell, he found him and he's like, Kyle, you've been talking to your aunt a lot lately, huh? I'm like, well, yeah. And she's all like, well, she's coming out here.
33:57🔗AdamAnd by the way, Kyle, feel free to work in the fact that you're not related to her at the top of the call when you speak that she's related to you.
34:07🔗DrewIt makes it. They still would get the Thanksgiving syndrome out of this, though. Yeah, it's still the brother's wife. It's ridiculous. Yeah, the hell away from this one. Stay away.
34:17🔗AdamYou want her, Kyle? Well, no. All right. Well, there you go.
34:39🔗AdamThe beauty, the beauty of being a guy is if you don't want to have sex with someone, you really don't have to unless it's another guy and he's bigger.
34:47🔗DrewBut wait a minute, that doesn't really enter into a man's lexicon. Like, no. What do you mean?
34:52🔗DrewLike it's an opportunity. What are you talking about?
34:55🔗AdamYeah, it's funny. Listen, ladies, you can get sex from a guy by just telling them you need sex from him. And he'd be like, OK, you know, I mean, they sort of have to.
35:06🔗DrewOh, but not only OK, it'd be like here on the freeway. What do you think?
35:11🔗AdamI really didn't want to. I know your blood and all, but what the hell? What? I guess we got to. Joey? Yes. You're 21?
35:38🔗CallerSo I've had, you know, child protective services over. And he's going to this doctor tomorrow, but no doctors really want to see him because he's so young. So I can't really go anywhere for help.
35:55🔗CallerI don't I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I don't leave him with. He's with my mother when I go to work. I'm a single mom, so I work full time. And so I don't think anybody's messed with.
36:06🔗AdamAnd let me let me I know Drew has kids, so he refuses to believe that this kind of stuff can go on without prior abuse. But for Christ sakes, kids put Tinker toys up their nose. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Kids do a lot of weird stuff. They put their they eat dirt.
36:23🔗AdamYou know, they stuff their faces in weird places. They do stuff. They don't know what it means necessarily.
36:29🔗DrewAbsolutely. They throw stuff at each other. They bite each other, but they don't do this.
36:33🔗AdamI don't know. I don't know that they don't know that most of them know they don't.
36:37🔗DrewIt's why child protective services get involved because they don't do this.
36:41🔗CallerYeah, because I have a book on children's sexual behavior.
36:43🔗AdamListen, I'm not saying it ain't abnormal by any stretch of the imagination. But here's what I am saying. There is a whatever percent chance that he was that he was just freaking out or screwing around or whacking off. You know what I mean? I don't mean physically, but I mean emotionally. Do you know what I mean? I mean, there's a chance. God knows. You know what I mean? Does it mean he was molested?
37:11🔗DrewNo. No, but it means that there's some serious-
37:26🔗CallerWhat's normal, what's abnormal, and when to consult a professional?
37:30🔗AdamYes. Hopscotch, dog piles, and Marco Polo. Normal. Eating puntaic? Not normal. Turn to the next page? Consult physician. Thank you. I'm glad about the book. Really? That was it?
37:46🔗CallerThat's all it said. And I've been everywhere. I've called mental health, and nobody wants to help me because-
37:55🔗CallerSouth Carolina. He's not loved at all.
37:58🔗AdamI see. And how was he busted? Even though he's three, I look at it as busted. Who knocked him out?
38:05🔗CallerHe was on the playground with the other kids, and he went off in the corner. The teacher took her eye off him for a second, and when they came back, the girl's pants were down, and his face was right in there.
38:19🔗CallerThe girl thought it was a game. She didn't feel, they asked her, but she's three, so she just went along with it. She didn't feel, they said she didn't ask her.
38:30🔗DrewSo you wonder if she encouraged something.
38:31🔗AdamWell, that's what I'm kind of curious. Was he coaxing her to do it or was it her idea?
38:36🔗CallerHe said that he pulled down her pants. Of course, this is three-year-olds talking about it.
38:40🔗DrewYeah, it's such a specific act that is so far outside the usual lexicon of behaviors of that age. One of them was directed in getting this to happen. You can't say which it was though.
39:04🔗CallerWell, is there anything I should do at home to correct it? I don't, I don't know.
39:10🔗DrewNo, you keep, no, no, no, you just keep the, keep the environment safe and structured. Keep reading those books, spend more time with them.
39:17🔗AdamBooks that tell you to consult a physician.
39:19🔗DrewJust at least you're spending the time to research things about the child care and then get the proper mental health care.
39:25🔗AdamAlways keep, keep them on a steady diet, a taffy.
39:27🔗DrewI would think just a general, mouth busy. At three, a general pediatrician, a good general pediatrician might be enough right now.
39:32🔗AdamYeah, but you just want to check the guy out. I don't think they're gonna give you any answers.
39:36🔗DrewFollow through future, follow going forward.
39:38🔗AdamAll right. Good times. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Well, Nelly's the name of the CD. We will come back and speak to Jessica, who is going to talk about a rumor after this. It's the Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla. That be Dr. Drew over there. Nick Carter is going to be here tomorrow night from the Backstreet Boys. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Wonelly is the name of the CD. And Drew has an answer on the Juno Award, which is the Canadian Grammy, which Nelly has been the recipient of four. Go ahead.
40:58🔗DrewThe awards began in 1970 as a result of a weekly music publication, RPM. A year later, the event changed the Juno Award. This 1971, it's suggestive of Hal Phillips, who asked that the magazine honor peer Juno, the head of the CRTC, which implemented the Canadian content regulations in 1971. But it was discovered that Juno, J-U-N-O, had been the chief goddess of the Roman pantheon. The spelling was changed and the awards are permanently named. See, the Canadians are a much headier group of people.
41:47🔗AdamOh, yes. Well, no, it's a lesser amount. I don't know what it is. You know what it is?
41:53🔗Nelly FurtadoYeah, it's different hundreds of thousands. I'm double platinum there. But but it's the same thing in England. It's less. America is the only place where platinum is one million records.
42:05🔗AdamListen, it makes sense if there's, you know, two hundred seventy five country million. And yeah. And there's I don't know how many. What do you got?
42:13🔗Caller30 million or we've got about 30 million people in Canada.
42:50🔗CallerUm, hi, um, yeah, there's like this rumor going on about me over at my school. And I have no reason why it's happening. It's crazy. Um, people think that I'm going to like, um, shoot out the school.
43:07🔗DrewAnd it's like ridiculous, you know, you've never said anything like, I wish I could harm someone.
43:34🔗AdamShe's got a couple of Canadian Grammys and she's all full of herself. Go ahead.
43:40🔗Nelly FurtadoI have something to say about rumors, but go on.
43:44🔗CallerI wrote a song about it and then one of my teachers found it and then one of the teachers told and then there's all these rumors and then the principal's pulling me in.
44:01🔗DrewListen, Jessica. Yeah, at the time when...
44:02🔗CallerAnd the police are coming and they're raiding my backpack.
44:05🔗DrewListen, we're living in a time right now when people are uptight about this issue and reasonably so. Listen, you can't... if you'd written down on your song an explicit description of a plan to shoot the president.
44:21🔗CallerNo, I just like, I want to kill you. Like, you know, like I just like wrote something like, I want to kill you. Like, just cause like I was like feeling bad. Cause I like, I like.
44:28🔗DrewHang on a second. I'm going to stop you Jessica. Nelly just said, well, Nelly just said she had several things like this happen in high school.
44:37🔗Nelly FurtadoNo, I didn't threaten to kill somebody. I just mean, I mean similar situations where something will happen at school and something gets amplified bigger than what it really is. And then just teachers and authority figures are ultra sensitive cause they have to be at school.
44:55🔗Nelly FurtadoI didn't threaten to kill anybody. No, for instance, one time, you know, my friends lit a garbage can on fire and then, you know, they've tried for arsenic and blah blah blah. But they were just kids lighting paper towels in the garbage can. Right. One time we did a, you know, Janet Jackson dance routine and we kind of got pulled into the principal's office. It was all for simulating oral sex. Like we were 15 and they didn't want us to take it to the music festival.
45:23🔗Nelly FurtadoOne time. No, we're just doing our dance moves. But you know what I mean? Yeah, exactly what you're saying. That's what we were doing and that's their job. So the hardest part about it is, I guess, all the rumors that go around at school, it's hard to deal with because you're 14 and it's hard being 14.
45:40🔗AdamHey, Jessica, how did they find the song?
45:45🔗CallerI was like, my teachers are like really, really nosy. So I was like done with every assignment I had to do in class. And then they just, I started like copying it. Because one of my friends, I'm in a band and they wanted a copy of the song so they could actually understand what we were saying on the tape.
46:46🔗AdamNo. Listen, if they were real friends, they know the story. They know the situation.
46:51🔗CallerBut like one of the people at my school, they walked past me. They didn't know that I was there. But they were like, oh my God, I hope she doesn't kill me too. You know, it's just her time.
47:02🔗DrewJessica, it's painful to feel so abandoned alone and you're by yourself defending against this sort of onslaught of attention. But listen, nothing will come of this. You have no intent. Your friends will come back around. You're going to find out who your really close friends are through all that.
47:24🔗AdamAnd that may be what people are picking up on. Not the song lyrics, but the general overall Jessica vibe, which is something that Jessica needs to look at.
47:32🔗Nelly FurtadoOr the band could be really heavy.
47:34🔗AdamYeah, they're freaking people out. Rich? Yeah. You're 24?
48:04🔗AdamI can see him talking to his son. You're 70. You haven't gone down on a bitch yet? Come on. I was 5. I walked 10 miles in the snow to go down on a chick. We had a tough back then. No Nintendo.
48:19🔗AdamNelly Furtado is our guest tonight. We'll be back after this.
48:44🔗CallerYou're listening to Loveline on Outrageous Talk Radio. 100.7 The Buzz. Outrageous Talk Radio. 100.7 The Buzz. KQBC Seattle.
49:11🔗AdamYeah, it's a loveline. I'm Adam Carolla. That'd be Dr. Drew over there. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Hey. Whoa, Nelly is the name of the CD. She's going to be in San Francisco tomorrow night. Today's support.
49:26🔗Nelly FurtadoSan Francisco, Thursday night at Bimbo's, the best, really great nightclub in San Francisco, very old.
49:45🔗AdamNice. You're going to have a good time there. I've seen a few shows there. Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Washington, New York, and Providence, all in the upcoming days, barely a day off. So look for Nelly. Coming to a town near you. And when we left off, we're speaking to Rich. Rich is 24.
50:39🔗CallerWell, I know that, you know, like we me and the girl would go into like the little toy house and she'd show me hers all the time.
50:48🔗DrewAnd so maybe this was something she was up to because the young kids will do this.
50:52🔗CallerWhen they talked me into showing her mine, she screamed, excuse me. She screamed and went and told on me. So I got into trouble, but I didn't get caught doing the other thing.
51:41🔗DrewThis actually, again, my point to Adam before was we were peeing together over here. Right?
51:47🔗AdamWell, we agreed to show each other a ding-a-ling.
51:49🔗DrewRight. No, was that it's the intent that's the issue. This guy was kind of experimenting and they were playing a little game, but no intent to stimulate or do anything sexual.
52:00🔗AdamWell, but what I'm saying, Drew, is you always say in a sort of wholesale way that it's always intent.
52:11🔗DrewWe need to be checked out if you came across this.
52:13🔗AdamMy argument always is that kids are aware of their peers' parts, and they're also aware that it's a little naughty, and kids will do things that they're not supposed to do just because they think they're not supposed to do them sometimes. And it doesn't always mean they were the victim of abuse.
52:47🔗AdamAll right. All right, Rich. Thanks for that backup, buddy. All right. There you go. Let's talk to Mike. Mike?
52:54🔗CallerHi, Nelly. How are you doing tonight? Hi, Adam. Hi, Drew. Hey. Hi, Mike. How are you? I'm pretty good. I was just wondering if you're going to be playing country grammar and EI in concert on Put Me in LA.
53:28🔗Nelly FurtadoNo, he didn't. He said Nelly. He thinks I'm Nelly the rapper or he's making playing the Japanese. And he asked if I was going to be singing EI EI Country Grammar at the LRA on Friday. You know what? Because he called in and asked me to. I think I might cover it.
53:54🔗DrewAnderson. Anderson's saying that. That's something I would say. You better have something I would say.
54:00🔗AdamYou know what I love about Anderson, really? Here's Anderson's job besides, you know, work the board and play the sound effects. Feed me erroneous information through my headphones as the show goes on.
55:45🔗AdamLet me ask you a quick question. Go ahead. Are we sitting somewhere at an airport having a couple of beers and chit chatting or did you call the goddamn radio show for the question? Which is it?
56:19🔗CallerAnd my question is, me and my girlfriend or my current wife were going out about four years ago and she had her cervix froze for a general warts. And we've had a couple kids since then and she, the sex is really bad. She gets a lot of pain and she talked to the doctor about it and he said the average girl is only about three inches deep.
56:42🔗DrewIs that true? It's about the length of your middle finger.
56:49🔗CallerOkay, well I just kind of found that hard to believe because of the fact that I kind of thought that the average guy was like six inches.
56:55🔗CallerI just don't know how it's physically possible.
56:57🔗DrewThere's a cervix at the end of a fingertip. I remember doctors when they reach in are feeling the cervix. They get there? Oh yeah. But there's an area, the cervix can get pushed aside and there's an area that can go back further.
57:11🔗AdamYeah, you get into the champagne room, I call it.
57:14🔗DrewThat's right. And also you can be, you're just gonna be pushed back a little bit.
57:17🔗CallerYeah, after a few minutes she just gets really sore and I don't know, goes through a lot of pain. So it's just been real terrible.
57:31🔗CallerThat the average girl is about three inches deep so I might be hitting in back and that's what's causing the pain.
57:36🔗DrewYeah, so what? So you're hitting back there and it's painful. What's causing the pain? I don't know. It would always be painful. Yeah, but everyone always hits the back and so frequently hits the back or hits it in ways that are uncomfortable but why is it intolerable to her? I don't know. Well, he needs to answer that and I know I'm not trying to make this an issue for you but he needs to satisfactorily answer that for her.
57:56🔗AdamYeah, I'll tell you though, you know you've arrived when the doctor is telling you your dork is too big.
58:01🔗DrewThat's why he accepted it without asking any questions.
58:08🔗CallerAnd also, have you heard of the phrenic nerve because we've been listening to the radio and The phrenic nerve is a nerve that goes down to your diaphragm. Oh, your diaphragm. My wife is a nurse and she said something about because we're listening to something and they said we're talking about anal sex and she said that you can go into cardiac arrest from having anal sex because of the phrenic nerve.
59:17🔗DrewBecause what you'll see in ICU is that people with severe cardiac disease and critical kinds of illnesses, when they move their bowels, sometimes their heart slows down to the point they arrest. So, that kind of stimulation can be difficult. It's somebody who's predisposed to something. But if you're a normal healthy person, that should happen.
59:32🔗AdamThat by the way means you're getting old when you take a cramp and your heart stops.
59:39🔗AdamThat means your days are numbered. What happened? Try to go number two. Number one slows it down. Number two stops it. Jesus Christ. What killed them? Diarrhea. Nicole?
1:00:00🔗CallerI have a year old daughter and I just recently found out I thought it was I had been drinking and I thought maybe because I was drinking that I just didn't know what had happened but recently I found out that he had slipped GHB into my drink and my daughter is now a year old and I want to know if there's any effects.
1:00:26🔗DrewWe have to reconstruct your question. You were pregnant and some guy slipped GHB into your drink while you were pregnant?
1:00:50🔗DrewI gotta stop you because this is the important thing that people have got to get through their head. What is your concept about when the pregnancy actually occurs? Like minutes during the sexual act?
1:01:09🔗DrewListen to me. Listen to my question. Drew. I gotta answer. You tell us. Because I gotta make sure that she understands even what I'm telling her. When do you think a pregnancy occurs? If you're having sex, when does the actual egg meet the sperm?
1:01:30🔗DrewAnd actually, I beg your pardon. That's about two days, usually most commonly within 24 hours of ovulation. So even if you had just ovulated on the day you were having sex, it would still be 24 hours before you got the pregnancy to occur. Okay. So it's usually two or three days.
1:01:45🔗AdamHow do you know the guy put GHB in your drink?
1:01:48🔗CallerHis best friend, who's no longer his friend because of this, was a mutual friend of ours.
1:02:00🔗AdamAnd is he financially somewhat responsible for this child now?
1:02:05🔗CallerNo. Originally, when I first told him I was pregnant, he said, you know, whatever you decide, I'm behind you 100%. And I had actually went down to go get an abortion. And when you go to an abortion, they make you go twice. The first time for a consultation. Consultation, excuse me. And they show you videos and pictures, and I just ran out crying. And I went back to him, and I told him, you know, I can't do this. It's not in me. I have to have this child. And he's like, well, I want nothing to do with you or this child.
1:02:41🔗AdamYeah. How come you didn't call the cops when he drugged you and raped you?
1:02:44🔗CallerI didn't know. I just recently found out that he had used GHB. My daughter was already born when I found out.
1:02:52🔗AdamI see. You just thought you were drunk?
1:03:52🔗DrewI wonder if that was one of those third. There are places out there that explicitly discourage abortion. You know what I mean? They tell themselves abortion clinics, but they go in and knock you out of it. Yeah. Which is, you know, let's understand.
1:04:03🔗AdamThey show you like fetuses getting hit by golf clubs and stuff.
1:04:21🔗Nelly FurtadoI think there was some like, I don't know. I think there's one province where there's like a lot of anti-abortion groups. I think maybe I'd be Quebec.
1:04:28🔗CallerI'm not sure. I'm really misinformed. I don't want to go back. I don't know.
1:04:35🔗Nelly FurtadoYeah. Like I think. Yeah. Wasn't it? There was like some. There was some. Yeah. No, there was some. No. So I'm like, nope, nope. Don't remember that one. No, there was some violence that occurred towards an abortion clinic not too long ago in Canada.
1:04:51🔗CallerIt happens all the time, but I forget which province.
1:05:04🔗AdamHello. I feel like I'm in Canada. I don't know so much about Canada. I don't know. Something. Maybe. Never know. No, not Quebec. Could be Quebec.
1:05:51🔗Nelly FurtadoGood stuff. Wish we were coming to Sacramento. We'll be there next time.
1:05:54🔗CallerWe were going to go to the San Francisco show Thursday, but I didn't know those tickets were coming out and I already bought the LA show tickets.
1:06:00🔗Nelly FurtadoBimbos. Yeah, and that's a good venue, too, Bimbos. That's OK. The LA will be will be happening.
1:06:21🔗AdamHold on, let me explain. Tight is a good thing. Tight is dope.
1:06:26🔗Nelly FurtadoTight is dope. Jack Johnson, this really great opener on Saturday. Saturday night, you're going to really love the opening act. Jack Johnson, he's from Santa Barbara, plays guitar. He just got off the Ben Harper tour. He did the whole Ben Harper tour.
1:06:56🔗CallerThey're from our era because I'm 22 too.
1:06:58🔗Nelly FurtadoI know. We're the hip hop generation. We grew up on all the urban stuff. It's in our brains. But yeah, I listen to everything. You know, obviously I'm influenced a lot by my Portuguese background, so I do listen. I love a lot of Brazilian artists. I love Jeff Buckley, Catana Veloso, Amalia Rodriguez. I love all the urban stuff too.
1:08:17🔗CallerOh, no, Nelly, no, no, no. That's why I thought my parents went to Venezuela a month ago, and I was seeing if they heard of you because Brazil is right under us.
1:09:25🔗AdamNo, no. Hold on a second. That doesn't happen. Yes, it does. No, let me explain. No, put on your thinking cap. I'm following. Put on your thinking, Jack. When a guy doesn't want to have sex with a girl, it's usually one of two reasons. Either there's some kind of religious conflict. He wants to wait till he's married or something like that. Or if he's had sex a few times in the past and had a few girlfriends in the past, he may have had some difficulty, especially his last time out.
1:09:56🔗DrewDo you think there could also be that he sees that once he's dating other women simultaneously and he sees this one getting super attached, he may have a service agreement somewhere else?
1:10:05🔗Adam21 year old guys aren't that thoughtful.
1:10:08🔗DrewIf they have a service agreement elsewhere, this is the bullpen.
1:10:15🔗AdamWhy is a 21 year old guy dating a girl who's having frequent sex with somebody else? Why is he dating this 19 year old that doesn't want sex? Think about the guy who's got a service deal going on. He's banging everything that walks.
1:10:30🔗AdamNo. No, no, no. Think about that guy who's 21 and has a few things going. He's screwing all of them. Any guy with a service agreement is open for business and servicing all makes and models.
1:10:43🔗DrewBut the fact is that he won't be as desperate.
1:10:46🔗AdamHe may not be as desperate, but he's not turning away.
1:10:49🔗DrewBut he wouldn't take into consideration things like, gee, this girl's feelings are going to get hurt if he didn't have a service agreement.
1:10:54🔗AdamLay off there, Drusky. Sorry, but no dice. Nelly, who are you with? Me or Drew?
1:11:00🔗Nelly FurtadoI don't know, I'm thinking about that one. 21 year old boys coming all, you know. Varieties.
1:11:05🔗AdamStacey, let's do a little more research on this guy. Okay. Does he part his hair to the side?
1:12:02🔗AdamI think he's got a premature problem. I think he's a little freaked out. I mean, here's a guy. He's a cool guy. He's in a band. He's had other girlfriends.
1:12:12🔗Nelly FurtadoMaybe he says he's had sex before, but he hasn't.
1:12:16🔗AdamThat much. What kind of music does a band play? Christian Rock?
1:12:25🔗AdamJust rock. You think you might have, you know, band guys are pretty notorious for having a few chicks. You think there's something else going?
1:13:37🔗AdamOK. You're really a wealth of information, Stacey. I could get more information. Does that make him a total pig? I could talk to myself and get more information about this guy.
1:13:45🔗DrewYou know, I was using her. She's just a way to get the right stuff.
1:13:49🔗AdamStacey, you don't know anything, so we don't know anything.
1:13:53🔗DrewBut wouldn't that be... she's just a groupie.
1:13:55🔗AdamYes. You certainly sound like a groupie.
1:14:33🔗AdamNo. I don't know. I'm leaning now toward Drew's original theory, although a guy who's in a band, a guy who's banging around, and a guy, it could be a technicality thing.
1:14:48🔗DrewI'm leaning towards the John. I got to go pee. Let's go.
1:14:50🔗AdamOkay. Nelly's here. We'll take a break. We'll be back.
1:15:47🔗AdamIt is Loveline and Adam Corolla. That is Dr. Drew over there. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Furtado means egg-based omelet, right? Flat pan omelet. Didn't we look that up, Drew? Furtado.
1:16:15🔗AdamIt's just close. That's all. All right. We'll take a call and then we'll hear another name.
1:16:20🔗Nelly FurtadoI'm probably just mad because someone actually said that joke at the Junos. Get your microwave, microwaveable Nelly Furtado's.
1:16:27🔗AdamSomeone made that at the Junos? Really? And see, I don't think that would fly stateside. I don't think we have a sophisticated enough audience or maybe not a large enough French population, right?
1:17:12🔗CallerI just really want to say, first of all, that Dr. Drew, I saw you on a Primetime News special about a month and a half ago, and you were talking about oral sex in teenagers. And of course your expertise was your radio talk show. And you stated there, and I found it a little bit saddening, that you find that it's an uphill battle and it's very difficult to hear teenagers and their sex stories every night and feel that you're not making a difference. But I also wanted to let you know that this show, and you and Adam and all your guests, are one of the primary reasons that I've never touched drugs or alcohol.
1:18:18🔗CallerEvery time my friends and I get in trouble with sexual things, I refer them back to something you guys said, and without this show and without the help that you provide kids, I really think that we'd be a lot more lost out there. And I know that my group of friends is very satisfied, very happy to listen to Adam at night. You know, he ruled Adam, of course.
1:18:48🔗CallerThank you very much. I'm scared to death. Because all the girls that I've ever dated, of course, are not 18. And I'm worried about the statutory rape laws. I've never had sex. I don't plan on having sex in my current relationship. It just brings up too many problems that I get to hear every night on your show.
1:19:11🔗AdamYeah, but a lot of people die in car accidents. That doesn't mean they don't drive.
1:19:15🔗CallerWell, I don't want to, I'll come to that bridge when, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
1:19:20🔗AdamWell, you rape that bridge when you get to it.
1:19:26🔗CallerBut I was just wondering, if I have any sort of sexual relationship, I'm talking about like oral sex or manual sex or however you want to put that, what are the rules? My girlfriend is just about 17 and I was wondering what the rules are and that, because I've heard horror stories about how you've been in a relationship for eight, eight, 10 months, you do something with a girl, not even sexual, the parents find out, all they have to do is go to court.
1:19:52🔗AdamAll right, all right, Justin, you're a big thinker and the problem is it's good, it'll serve you well in life but it doesn't work well with your genitalia. You're thinking yourself right out of sex. Drew, tell them what the, first of all-
1:20:06🔗DrewWell, I don't know what is in Washington, he's in Seattle. In California, you can be within three years of the person if you're over 18.
1:20:13🔗AdamI don't suspect you'll be arrested. You can look it up, get on the internet and see what the statutory rape laws are in the state of Washington. Within three years?
1:20:25🔗Drew16. 16. They just looked it up, 16 in the state of Washington.
1:20:28🔗Nelly FurtadoYou have to be within three years?
1:20:29🔗DrewIn California, within three years. If you're 19, the girl can't be younger than 16.
1:20:42🔗AdamHe's good. He's got a 16-year-old girlfriend.
1:20:45🔗DrewAnd the statutory rape accusations usually do, in fact, as you described me, occur as a result of pissed-off parents.
1:20:52🔗AdamYeah, if you're in a long-term monogamous relationship, people don't seem to get upset and report things like this. Nobody is going to turn Justin in. Could you imagine having this guy dating your 16-year-old? You chain him to her. Like, you're never going to leave this guy. He doesn't want to have sex with you. He's in the Madrinas Escuderos or whatever the Spanish club or whatever the marketing club he's in. He speaks, he's like Ralph Nader. He has a Ralph Nader's genitalia. He's got an old man's brain. He's practically like a born-again Christian. You two are getting married. I mean, wouldn't you insist on it? If you never have sex, you would always be a missionary.
1:21:31🔗Nelly FurtadoI was wondering, you told him not to think himself out of sex? So you're suggesting he does have sex with this girlfriend?
1:21:39🔗AdamI am saying that this guy intellectualizes too much. Well, I don't have to tell you because you're Portuguese, but you know passion. I don't have to explain passion to you. It's not something you can sit down and quantify. It's an intellectual process. You have to let yourself go.
1:22:21🔗AdamYou see? That's my point. And we all know movies are always...
1:22:24🔗Nelly FurtadoBut he smokes a lot of weed as an escape.
1:22:27🔗AdamWe will take ourselves a little listen to another Nelly song here off of Whoa Nelly. You cue it up there, Anderson. This one is called Turn Off the Light. That is another offering from the famous Nelly. Well, Nelly is the name of the CD. Oh, time to go to break here there, Drew.
1:28:36🔗AdamAnd we'll hop back on the phones and speak to Teresa. Teresa, hello. You're 19. What's going on?
1:28:43🔗CallerWell, I've been dating this guy for about three months now. And I've never gone down on another guy before, and he's never had anybody go down on him. And every time I do, I give him a rash.
1:29:32🔗CallerThe second time it got like a little bit bigger. And then the third time I did it, I paid like a lot of attention to the head of his penis. And it just broke out all over in a rash.
1:29:44🔗DrewAnd what do you mean it broke out? It just turned red?
1:29:47🔗CallerIt just turned bright red. And he says it burns. He won't go see a doctor. He refused to see a doctor about it. We've had unprotected sex before and it's never done that before. It only happens when I go down on him.
1:30:01🔗DrewHow long do you do that to him when you're down there?
1:30:04🔗CallerNot very long. Maybe like four, three, four minutes. Not very long.
1:30:10🔗AdamYeah. The accepted time measurement is two Led Zeppelin songs. You pick the song.
1:30:25🔗AdamThose are my oral sex songs. Hey, Teresa. You've not been with other partners or you never gave oral sex to anybody?
1:30:34🔗CallerI've never gave oral sex to anybody.
1:30:36🔗AdamAnd you've not been with any other partners?
1:30:38🔗CallerI've been with one other person before but it was against my will.
1:30:43🔗DrewThat's nice. We're suspicious though in this case, not to delve into that other issue. This is just sort of something you're mechanically doing.
1:30:54🔗AdamI don't know. I've slammed my penis in cab doors. I've had garbage disposal before. QuickSand, Locusts. I never had a rash. What are you saying, Nelly?
1:31:06🔗Nelly FurtadoShe should be concerned because she's having unprotected sex with him and he has a rash.
1:31:39🔗AdamYeah. Drew, how long did it take you to learn to perform proper fellatio on a man? How many years? I mean, you've told me, you said high school, college, even then, you still considered yourself a greenhorn. Yeah.
1:31:51🔗DrewThere was a graduate level study still yet to be done.
1:31:53🔗Nelly FurtadoYou're probably right, because he's new, she's new.
1:31:56🔗AdamYeah. You gotta appreciate the enthusiasm, though. Stephanie?
1:32:04🔗CallerWell, I called to say hello to Nelly and, hey, I'm sorry that Marge did on you backstage and you look, you seemed like you were having really fun time.
1:32:41🔗CallerSo my question is mainly for Dr. Drew. And well, a few years ago, I was working on a ship, a cruise ship, and I, well, it was it was OK for us to socialize with the passengers, but not fraternize. So naturally, that was incentive for me because I'm a rebel. And so there was this one guy, and he got me really drunk and took me to his room. And we did the nasty. And it was kind of against my will, but not really, because I was. What's the question?
1:33:28🔗CallerGo ahead. A few days later, a full-on gland appeared in my groin area. And I was just wondering if that was a symptom of any disease that you had.
1:33:43🔗DrewYeah, many of them, in fact. Did you have any burning in the vagina?
1:34:15🔗DrewShe's into hideous people. That's why she's a rebel. Something happened to her.
1:34:18🔗AdamI see. Does rebel mean you have to have sex with people you don't like?
1:34:22🔗Nelly FurtadoHey, she's into my CD. I'm not hideous.
1:34:25🔗DrewStephanie, here's the deal. Very quickly, that's your body fighting off infection. Those are inguinal lymph nodes. It may just be inflammation from whatever you guys did. The most likely thing to cause inguinal swelling is herpes. Then there's something called lymphogranuloma. Venerium can do that and chancroid. Those are common illnesses. Chancroid is down in the tropics. So if your cruise was down in the tropics, I'd even be more concerned about chancroid.
1:35:21🔗Nelly FurtadoCall it something. Might as well call it chancroid.
1:35:23🔗AdamWe will take ourselves a little break. Be back with more Nelly after this. Just to explain what Drew said, there was some kind of article that listed a couple of shows or a couple of people in Time magazine a few weeks back, and the Man Show was highlighted as one of those shows. What show to watch? No, more like some kind of trend in bad TV. Not bad TV, not just a trend in sort of reality-based, I don't know, bad boys. It was like a bad boy trend. I'm a bad boy. Hear that, ladies?
1:36:25🔗AdamEveryone go out and get themselves the Wonelly CD from Nelly Furtado. And Adam says, baby, you are a joy to be around. Thank you. You really are. You must be from somewhere.
1:36:38🔗Nelly FurtadoYou guys ain't too shabby either.
1:36:39🔗AdamI know you're from somewhere other than the United States because you got a great ad. Isn't she great? Yeah.
1:36:44🔗DrewShe has to be from somewhere other than LA or California.
1:36:47🔗Nelly FurtadoBread and the International Flavor.
1:36:55🔗Nelly FurtadoGreat service you offer here.
1:36:57🔗AdamNick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. Tomorrow night and until next time, this is Adam Corolla for Dr. Drew saying mahalo. You're 70. You haven't gone down on a bitch yet.
1:37:06🔗CallerThis has been Loveline. The opinions expressed on this show are not necessarily those of the staff management sponsors for this station. The producer for Loveline is Ann Wilkins Dingle. Loveline is a presentation of Westwood One Entertainment.
