1:02 Voiceover Listener discretion is advised. Loveline, coast to coast.
1:14 Adam It is the Loveline. I'm Adam Carolla. That is Dr. Drew over there. Phone number 1-800-L-O-V-E-1-9-1, fax number, I forget about that fax number.
1:23 Drew I don't know, it's the same old number. 310-854-445.
1:27 Adam We're out of paper, Anderson. Nice.
1:30 Drew Very nice.
1:32 Adam Dr. Drew, board certified physician, addiction medicine specialist, not the love doctor, a real doctor who happens to love you. It's just coincidence. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Nelly is the very beautiful young lady who's falling from the tree in her video and then body surfing or crowd surfing. I'll tell you that the video, and Drew I know you haven't seen Nelly's video because it exists and you wouldn't know what it is because you don't know of anything that exists but and I don't watch too many videos but it's it's so beautiful.
2:16 Nelly Furtado Thanks.
2:17 Adam You you look great in it and it's shot it's shot amazingly.
2:21 Nelly Furtado Yeah it's shot in California actually.
2:23 Adam Did you shoot it like up where the Redwoods are, the Sequoias or something?
2:27 Nelly Furtado Pinos Valley, it's a wildlife reserve.
2:31 Adam Mount Pinos?
2:32 Nelly Furtado Yeah around Mount Pinos.
2:33 Drew How the hell do you know that?
2:34 Adam Because I almost died up there when I was 16.
2:37 Drew What?
2:38 Adam I went camping and I just took off on my own and got lost.
2:42 Drew I had one of those experiences too, 16.
2:44 Adam Really?
2:44 Yeah.
2:45 Adam Awful. Yeah. Yeah I got raped by a squirrel. Oh squirrel. No I don't have a buffalo up there, not at that altitude. But anyway it's just a spectacular looking video. You must have been playing with it.
3:00 Nelly Furtado Yeah it's very beautiful. It's all real. I did all the stunts myself too.
3:03 Adam Yeah you fell off that huge tree?
3:05 Nelly Furtado Yeah except for that one. The biggest stunt I didn't do.
3:08 Adam It really is the kind of thing.
3:09 Nelly Furtado But I did lots of other impressive things.
3:11 Adam Yeah when you're when you're.
3:12 Nelly Furtado Hanging 50 feet off a crane.
3:13 Adam When you're flipping around and you go by it you just stop. You just sit there and watch until it's done.
3:19 Nelly Furtado Oh good. Well that's a good quality to have in a video I guess.
3:21 Yeah.
3:22 Adam Yeah and I like the song too.
3:25 Nelly Furtado Good thank you. I just want a Juno for writing that song.
3:28 Adam I thought you want, it looks, it says here you want four Junos.
3:31 Nelly Furtado I want four actually, yeah.
3:33 Adam Now that's basically a Canadian Grammy, right?
3:37 Nelly Furtado Yeah. Yeah, it's the same type of thing. Yeah, it's our version of the Grammy Awards, I suppose. Spent with the Canadian artists.
3:48 Adam What's Juno stand for?
3:50 Nelly Furtado Juno? I don't know.
3:53 Adam You know what this stands for? No, I don't know. You don't know what it stands for?
3:58 Nelly Furtado You know what? I have no idea. It's kind of like the Oscar, like who named the Oscars?
4:05 Adam That's a good point. But Grammy is like Gramophone, right? That's the old record player. I don't know Oscar, but there's a story behind that somewhere. But I don't have four Oscars. If I had four Oscars, I'd know what they meant, right Drew?
4:17 Drew Of course you would.
4:18 Adam Thank you. Yeah.
4:19 Drew So you'll never know.
4:20 Nelly Furtado That's a good point. I should have like read up on it more. But I found out I was nominated.
4:24 Adam Bone up on the Junos.
4:26 Nelly Furtado I know. And I know that the Sheila Copps has a she's a it's held in this thing called the Copps Coliseum. And I think I know more about her, but I don't know about I don't know what the Junos are named.
4:39 Adam Yeah, bad.
4:40 Nelly Furtado I'll find out, though, and I'll get back to you.
4:41 Adam Please be a bad place to smuggle the weed into the Copps Coliseum. Just seems like a tall order. But that was named after somebody. Sure.
4:52 Nelly Furtado Yeah.
4:53 Adam All right.
4:53 Nelly Furtado So the West Coast, we're trying to smuggle weed in Nelly, Nelly, British Columbia.
4:59 Adam Nelly has herself a beside the CDs, got a nice big fat tour for herself. Is this the first tour of the United States?
5:07 Nelly Furtado Actually, it's my second tour. We toured before the record came out in August and September, and this is our second time out in the USA. Now we're touring Canada too.
5:17 Adam It must be a little nicer to tour after the CD comes out.
5:21 Nelly Furtado Yeah.
5:22 That's a good point.
5:24 Nelly Furtado It's very different now. I have more fans in the audience.
5:28 Adam Like what?
5:28 Nelly Furtado Seeing all the words. But the funny thing was, the first time I went out, it was like, I didn't notice there was really not many people at my shows because the ones that were there were like my first fans ever. So that means more than anything in the world when you first see real fans in the crowd.
5:43 Adam Right. But what size venues were you playing your first time around the United States?
5:47 Nelly Furtado Okay. My first show was in Seattle at a place called the Crocodile Cafe and it fits about 300 people. And that was good because it was pretty full, but that's because it was full of like retailers and radio and record company people. So now the fans outnumber the record company people, which is a good thing.
6:05 Adam Now they do.
6:06 Nelly Furtado Yeah. So now actually we played Minneapolis for 1,700 people and we had to turn away 400 at the door because it was pretty crazy and it's a sold out show. It's a sold out tour so far.
6:17 Drew So you're singing Portuguese. Is that your first language?
6:18 Nelly Furtado It's good to keep it that way.
6:20 Drew Portuguese is your first language?
6:22 Nelly Furtado Portuguese, no. I spoke English at home, but I always learned Portuguese. It's my second language. My parents are both from the Azores Islands.
6:30 Adam So you're fluent in that.
6:32 Nelly Furtado Yes, I am.
6:33 Adam Good. Well, if we start dating, we'll speak that exclusively.
6:35 Nelly Furtado Okay. Don't you have Portuguese?
6:38 Adam I certainly am.
6:38 Nelly Furtado Oh, wait. That's Emeril Gazi.
6:40 Adam That's right. You know what's so bizarre about that?
6:44 Drew What?
6:45 Adam Somebody told me that he was a Portuguese today.
6:48 No, really?
6:49 Drew I swear to Christ.
6:50 I'm psychic.
6:52 Drew Why does that stuff happen all the time?
6:55 Adam I have no idea.
6:57 Drew Is it just you and me that happens to? We talk about it an awful lot.
7:00 Adam It happens to other people, but they don't have radio shows, so we don't hear about it as much. Nelly will be in San Francisco tomorrow. Is that correct?
7:10 Nelly Furtado Yeah. These guys look exactly the same in person as they do on television.
7:16 Drew We play ourselves.
7:18 Adam Los Angeles on the 16th and 17th, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Virginia, Washington, DC., New York, and Providence. So she's going to be a busy girl. All right. Well, here's something off the Woe Nelly CD in a second. Let's start by taking some calls and speaking to Tom, who's 28. Tom.
7:38 Caller Hello.
7:39 Adam What's up?
7:40 Caller Oh, how great to talk to you guys. I feel it's like winning the lottery talking to you guys.
7:45 Adam Thank you.
7:45 Drew Don't squander it.
7:47 Caller I won't. I want to ask Dr. Drew about masturbation. I want to ask you, Adam. Yeah.
7:53 Drew Why don't you ask the expert?
7:54 Adam Yes. Thank you.
7:56 Caller Yes. Yes. Well, you're always talking about masturbation. I want to know.
7:59 Drew Really? Always? Nelly is very impressed, by the way.
8:01 Adam Thank you.
8:03 Caller Hello, Nelly.
8:04 Adam All right. Hello. Hey, Tom. Let's get to it, buddy.
8:08 Caller I want to know if not masturbating is harmful to one's health, suppressing the urge.
8:14 Drew No.
8:15 Adam I believe it kills your spirit.
8:18 Drew It might have an injury to your soul, but there are some cultures that really seriously suppress that kind of behavior. And there's sort of a bell curve to male sexual libido in that if you don't masturbate at all, it tends to drop the libido down. So the sperm production is down, testosterone levels drop. If you start masturbating, it will actually climb. And if you do it excessively, Adam, then it starts to drop off again.
8:44 Adam Dare you make light of my hobbies in front of Nelly. Tom, what are you good for, let's say, a month?
8:55 Caller I can go for it and go for it like the best of the crowd.
9:00 Adam I understand you have amazing jack potential, but I'm asking what do you do a month normally?
9:06 Drew It's what you call a jack track record.
9:09 Caller Yeah. I can go twice a day.
9:13 Adam You can.
9:14 Caller I can go not at all.
9:15 Adam Okay. Thanks for answering my goddamn question, you retard. What are you doing currently?
9:22 Caller I'm not a retard.
9:23 Drew Last month. Hold it, he's going to hang up on you. Last month.
9:27 Caller I go either twice a day.
9:30 Adam Okay.
9:32 Caller Oh, he's cut off.
9:34 Adam He was basically.
9:35 Nelly Furtado He answered. He said he was in control. He says either twice a day or.
9:39 Adam No, but it's like saying, what's your normal diet? I could eat a six foot sub or I could just eat a piece of tofu and some rice crackers and go to bed.
9:47 Nelly Furtado So you wanted to know his situation in this week.
9:49 Adam I want to know what.
9:50 Drew He said last month.
9:51 Nelly Furtado You guys are so carpeted.
9:52 Drew We both said it.
9:52 Adam What he's doing. He wanted to know if you stopped.
9:56 Drew He's so concrete. When you said what he's doing, he almost said, well, I'm talking on the radio. All right.
10:01 Adam Hang on one more time. Tom?
10:02 Yes?
10:04 Drew Last month.
10:05 Adam What was the last month like for you?
10:08 Caller The last month was either twice every day.
10:10 Drew How many total for 30 days?
10:13 Caller I'm sorry?
10:13 Drew What was the total for the 30 days?
10:17 Caller I'd say 30 times.
10:18 Drew Okay.
10:19 Adam Okay.
10:19 Drew That's fine. That's all we were asking.
10:21 Adam Do you want to stop?
10:23 Caller I can. All the time. Yeah.
10:25 Drew That's his point. He goes on and off and on and off. You know men have a certain rhythm.
10:30 Caller I'm experimenting. I want to know if it... some people say if you don't masturbate your physical agility improves.
10:39 Drew Your agility? This is like the Rocky 1 film.
10:43 Adam Listen, hey Tom, what are you doing with your life?
10:46 Caller What's that?
10:47 Adam Are you doing okay in life?
10:49 Caller In some ways, you know, some of your callers tell fibs to get on the air. I have deeper problems but what I want... I'm a firefighter. And I want to... What I'm asking is if you don't masturbate, does your physical...
11:09 Drew Hang on a second.
11:10 I have a question.
11:11 Caller Why do soccer players...
11:13 Nelly Furtado Oh, no. It's not my question.
11:15 Drew Soccer players?
11:15 Nelly Furtado How come they can't have sex before they play the big games at the World Cups?
11:19 Adam Wives' Tale.
11:20 Drew Nonsense.
11:21 Nelly Furtado Come on! It is? Oh!
11:22 Adam Yeah. Yeah, they can. And they probably do.
11:25 Drew The boxing is a part of the...
11:27 Nelly Furtado I thought they had to do some sort of... You know, like the week before the... You know, when they have very important soccer games.
11:33 Drew Boxing has that wives' tale forever, right?
11:35 Nelly Furtado That's a wives' tale?
11:36 Adam Every sport has that.
11:37 Nelly Furtado It's kind of associated with this question, I think.
11:40 Drew Yeah, yeah, yeah.
11:41 Adam All right, listen, I'm done with Tom.
11:42 Nelly Furtado I'm going to do a firefighting song.
11:43 Drew I wanted to know if he was a firefighter. Does he stick in a bus and take up into the mountains, fire, brushfires, or is it cities?
11:49 Adam No, I'm guessing they're fires that he starts in his own living room. Make it his parents' living room. Danny?
11:55 Drew Yeah?
11:55 Adam You're 22.
11:56 Caller Yeah.
11:57 Adam What's up?
11:58 Caller I was falling because my fiance, he passed away.
12:02 Adam What happened?
12:03 Caller He killed himself in front of me.
12:06 Drew How old was he?
12:07 Caller 34.
12:08 Drew 34.
12:09 Adam How did he kill himself?
12:10 Caller Sat himself in the head.
12:12 Drew Oh, boy.
12:12 Adam While you were standing there.
12:14 Caller Yeah.
12:15 Drew How long ago was this?
12:16 Caller November.
12:17 Drew In?
12:18 Caller 2000.
12:18 Drew Okay. Have you been hospitalized or anything since then?
12:21 Caller No. I've been going to this group counseling thing once a month, and then I just started really seeing a therapist, and I've seen her maybe twice, and I go once a week.
12:34 Drew Are you sleeping okay?
12:37 Caller I'm sleeping, but I'm on and off.
12:39 Drew Are you on medication?
12:41 Caller No, and that's the thing. It's like when I talk to, because I just started a new job, and they have a person that you can go and talk to, and he was telling me about drugs, and then I have a friend that was telling me about drugs, and I don't really want to get on them because I don't want to be like a victim.
13:01 Drew They're drugs, they're medication, Danny, and they have zero addictive potential.
13:05 Adam Hey Danny, why do you think he killed himself in front of you?
13:09 Caller I don't know, like...
13:11 Drew Was he addicted?
13:13 Caller No, and that's the thing, it's like he wasn't on any drugs, and he wasn't like drinking or anything.
13:20 Adam Were you breaking up with him or something?
13:22 Caller No, I wanted to go home, and he wouldn't let me go, and the reason why he had a gun was because he was an officer, a policeman, and so he just like reached for it.
13:35 Adam And he wasn't high or anything?
13:36 Caller No.
13:37 Adam And he never threatened suicide?
13:39 Caller With me before once, and then I heard stories like when we were at the hospital that he had like tried it before, and I guess like his brothers or like his aunt or somebody like stopped him.
13:52 Adam So this was a totally spontaneous thing, you guys weren't arguing or anything?
13:57 Caller We weren't arguing because I wanted to go home, and he wouldn't take me home.
14:02 Drew Were we living with him or something? No, I was at his house. Or was it the end of the date and you wanted to go home?
14:06 Caller Okay, like I was at his house, and like I don't stay too far. So like we were arguing because I didn't want to have sex with him. And then...
14:17 Adam I mean, I've threatened that, but I've never actually done it.
14:19 Caller And he was like trying to make me stay, and so I just said that I wanted to go home. And he just like kept making me like stay. And I was telling him, you know, I'm not breaking up with you. I just want to go home and we can talk about this later. And then he just like reached behind him because it was on like the dresser, and he just reached behind him, and then he just put it to his head, and then he just did it. He didn't say anything.
14:44 Drew There's something missing in the story in terms of his preexisting problems.
14:49 Adam Well, the guy was profoundly disturbed.
14:52 Drew Profoundly.
14:53 Adam And Danny, as sad as this situation is, if you had married this guy six months from now, he could have just shot you.
15:00 Drew Absolutely.
15:01 Adam You guys could have had kids. He could have done something to the kids.
15:03 Caller Well, he has kids. He has three kids.
15:05 Adam Oh, boy.
15:06 Drew These are guys that often open fire on other people, too.
15:10 Adam My point is, is this is bad, but at least you're in one piece. And it, you know.
15:15 Caller Kind of.
15:16 Adam Well, I mean, physically in one piece. And it could have even been worse that way.
15:21 Drew And I think how aggressive that act is to put you through that. It is a terribly aggressive act.
15:27 Adam Sounds like you're angry at him, but you're mourning his loss at the same time, right?
15:31 Drew Well, but not only that, it's, he's so aggressive to do that to someone else. You're very fortunate he didn't turn it on you. But I'll tell you what, this kind of thing almost always causes something called a post-traumatic stress reaction. And it makes it difficult to concentrate and you get very depressed and have panic attacks, have trouble sleeping, have trouble functioning at work.
15:51 Caller Yeah.
15:51 Drew And medication can really, truly diminish the suffering with this while you deal with the mourning of the whole problem.
15:58 Caller All right.
15:58 Adam So stay with your counselor and your therapy and all that stuff, Danny.
16:01 Caller Okay. I mean, so like what type of like medication should I take?
16:08 Drew It depends on what you say, you know, I don't have the opportunity to really do a formal evaluation right here, but you see a psychiatrist who knows something about post-traumatic stress reaction and they would be able to easily prescribe the medic. Usually it's one or two pills and that's it. Danny, would you mind if we followed up with you in a couple of weeks and talk?
16:23 Caller Yeah.
16:23 Drew We're going to get your phone number and call you back a couple of weeks and see how you're doing. Okay.
16:27 Adam All right.
16:27 Drew Hold on.
16:28 Adam All right. See, you know, there was talk about how cops have such a high suicide rate, but how many jobs are you carrying a gun around?
16:35 Drew Yeah.
16:36 Adam I mean, you know, hey, I say street sweepers would have that high suicide rate. They just had a piece strapped to their thigh all day. I mean, that's the thing about guns. I mean, you know, this guy, you know what I mean? It was like a heat of the moment kind of thing.
16:51 Drew Yeah.
16:52 Adam Jesus Christ.
16:53 Drew Charleston was on the Today Show this morning defending.
16:55 Adam Oh, yeah. Chuck loves those guns.
16:58 Nelly Furtado She's concerned about the trauma, right? Is that what she was calling about?
17:02 Drew She just wants to know if she should take medicine or not, really.
17:05 Nelly Furtado And you're saying yes because of the acute symptoms?
17:08 Drew Because these, yeah, this can be, you can prevent your functioning and cause terrible suffering and the depression from PTSD like this can become dangerous.
17:16 Nelly Furtado Because it's a specific event.
17:17 Drew Yeah, and she could, why does she have to suffer? She'll get through this, she'll do better to really help her.
17:24 Nelly Furtado Meditation will help, too.
17:25 Adam How do you get that thought out of your head, you know? Chris?
17:30 Hey, Adam.
17:30 Adam You're 16.
17:31 Caller Alright, I just want to say you guys are my heroes forever.
17:35 Adam Thank you.
17:36 Alright, my problem is I cannot orgasm when I'm with my girlfriend, when I'm having sex with her.
17:42 Adam I see. I don't know what to do about that. But no problem with your boyfriend?
17:45 My girlfriend?
17:46 Adam Oh, I see, just your girlfriend.
17:49 Yeah.
17:49 Adam Okay.
17:50 I'm straight.
17:51 Adam Yeah, and what do you, what do you, well, you are, but your balls aren't. And you're having...
17:55 Drew I'm just going to call him from San Francisco.
17:57 Adam Oh, is he calling? Oh, there you go. You're having an intercourse. You can't have an orgasm?
18:03 Caller Yup, I can't.
18:04 Adam How about, how about with some oral sex?
18:08 Once it happened for me, oral sex and like a hand job at the same time, but it was just that one time.
18:14 Drew How about when you're by yourself?
18:15 Oh, of course.
18:16 Drew No problem.
18:17 Adam By the way, oral sex with a hand job is still just oral sex.
18:20 Drew I was just thinking that myself.
18:21 Adam Hand job alone is a hand job.
18:23 Drew Period.
18:25 Adam Yes. A hand job and oral sex is still oral sex. You bump up to the higher on the scale, the further base. Right.
18:32 Drew It's true. If some of you were having sex, there might have been a hand job along the way. But would you think of that?
18:36 Nelly Furtado Oh, you bump. They cancel each other out.
18:38 Adam You're saying I'm saying the BJ trumps the hand. It looks like you're a royal flush beats three of a kind.
18:47 Drew Well, if you were had sex, somebody wouldn't describe it as making out yet.
18:50 Adam It may have been part of the you're having intercourse and they had their hand down there. You wouldn't call the hand job and sex.
18:56 Drew Right.
18:57 Adam Thank you, Drew. All right, Chris, we clarified that for you. So maybe that's your mode. Maybe that BJ is the way you are.
19:05 Drew No, no, no. Maybe he needs some advice. You're used to it. Routine is used to his own thing.
19:11 Adam Yeah. Hey, do you masturbate a lot, Chris?
19:13 Caller Yeah, I used to.
19:15 I think I still do.
19:16 Drew Hold back on that a little bit. It might make it easier on you, right?
19:19 Adam Hold on. You used to. You think you still do. All right.
19:23 I'm trying to cut down now ever since.
19:24 Adam Yeah, I understand. In what position are you in when you masturbate?
19:29 I'm sitting down, standing up, usually sitting down.
19:34 Adam I see. And you know, see, the position that you're in when you masturbate, you should mimic that when you're having sex or your penis thinks it's masturbating and it's time to go. If you're having trouble orgasming with intercourse. You see what I'm saying? Yeah. You just stick with the same girl. You'll work it out. You got one off.
19:55 Nelly Furtado You're probably thinking about it too much, too.
19:56 Adam You got to build on that one, that one.
19:59 Drew You need a relationship too, Chris. Some of you can care about it, kind of work things out. Yeah. Reduce your anxiety levels.
20:05 Adam I tell you, guys today are very versatile. It's like, what position are you in when you masturbate? Sitting standing, wheelbarrow.
20:13 Drew Standing in my head.
20:14 Adam Walking, jogging, talking, napping. Church.
20:17 Drew Good play.
20:18 Adam Driving. Pogo stick, swing set, playing volleyball.
20:23 Caller Like, wow, pretty good.
20:25 Adam At 16, I was in that versatile. But I soon realized that I could not take my room with me everywhere. So I had to I had to damp and overcome. Pardon the pun. All right. Let's take what you want to do. Want to hear Nelly's song?
20:40 Drew Yeah. Song and break.
20:42 Adam All right. This is Nelly Furtado. This is I'm Like a Bird. Yes, that is Nelly Furtado off of Whoa Nelly. That is the CD. I like that song, and I love that CD. I mean the video, I should say. I'll go with the CD. Love the CD, too. All right, we will take ourselves a little break. Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys is gonna be in here tomorrow night. So Drew, you can finally get that T-shirt signed.
25:08 Drew Nice.
25:08 Adam And when we come back, we'll speak to Lisa. Lisa's 26, she's been married for four years. I'm just not sure if she's in love anymore after this.
25:20 Caller Loveline, we'll be right back.
25:21 Call on the 1-800-LOVE-191.
25:56 Caller Yeah, it is Loveline.
25:59 Adam Yes, go ahead. Go ahead, Nelly.
26:01 Nelly Furtado On the show, you guys are like, you hate each other's guts. But being in a room, no bad vibes. You love each other.
26:08 Adam Yeah, we do.
26:09 Drew Most of the time.
26:10 Nelly Furtado You're good actors.
26:11 Adam No, I love to row. I make no bones about that.
26:15 Nelly Furtado They're your body language, though.
26:17 Drew On the show?
26:17 Nelly Furtado On the show, yeah.
26:18 Caller It's good.
26:21 Adam Well, to be honest, you're speaking about the TV show, to be honest.
26:25 Nelly Furtado Oh, my God.
26:26 Adam If we...
26:26 Nelly Furtado Doctors, you hate them.
26:27 Adam If we did four radio shows in a row, we used to tape four TV shows in a day, and then four in the next day.
26:33 Caller So, it was really a frustration.
26:35 Adam To kill each other.
26:35 Drew And then we travel. We travel on the weekends.
26:38 Adam All right. Right. So, we'd had it up to here with each other.
26:41 Drew Also, we had producers going, Adam, you're the funny guy. Remember this?
26:45 Adam Yes.
26:45 Nelly Furtado Oh, like, you.
26:47 Drew You don't like him. You're the serious guy.
26:49 Caller OK. OK.
26:50 Nelly Furtado See, I bought it.
26:52 Adam No, it's true.
26:53 Drew It's real.
26:53 Adam We do argue. But we love each other. We love. Friendly. We argue, then we love. Then the fallatio. Phone number 1-800-L-O-V-E-1-9-1.
27:04 Drew Helps solidify the relationship.
27:05 Adam Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Wo Nelly is the name of the CD. We'll hear something else off of that before the night is true. But now we're going to speak to Lisa's 26. Lisa?
27:16 Caller Hi.
27:17 Adam What's up?
27:18 Caller Hello.
27:19 Caller Hi. How are you guys? I'm debating whether to leave my husband or not. Why? What's up? Well, we've been married for almost four years. And we've got kids. And our life has been pretty much chaotic from day one. Why? Just being with the kids, with my sons. And one of our sons is sick. He's got epilepsy. So I've been, like, had to leave my job. I'm home with him all the time and devoted all my time to, you know, keeping things straight and in order. And now that things kind of settled down and we're in a routine, I've had time to think about issues between me and him.
28:00 Drew Like what?
28:01 Caller Like, um, he's not affectionate. He's not affectionate toward me at all.
28:06 Drew Yeah, but no men are, um, you know, you have to train me, have to train men to do that.
28:11 Adam Drew now feigns success.
28:12 Drew No, men, men don't really. And I've discovered this with the Mars Venus show is that men really women need, they want that need as much as we want sex.
28:20 Caller Yeah.
28:20 Drew And the men have to have to teach us that.
28:23 Caller Right. And I, and I've talked to him about that. And we've before, you know, in between all of this stuff, we've sat and talked about things. We've gone through issues that, you know, things that I need, things that he needs, and it was fine for a couple of days.
28:37 Adam Right. You know what I love when they sit down and do that list? Women, she gives a laundry list of things she needs. Here's what's on the guy's list. I need you to leave me alone. That's what the guys need out of a relationship. I need you to leave me alone. I need not to meet so many of your needs.
28:54 Caller What concerns me is that at his age, you think that his sexual appetite would be like, like skyrocket.
29:00 Adam How old is he?
29:01 Caller He's 27.
29:02 Adam Okay. So.
29:04 Caller And he's not in I am.
29:06 Adam All right. And so far, it just sounds like you ain't that into him, but it doesn't sound like there's a whole lot on paper that's wrong.
29:16 Drew Right. It sounds like you have, how many kids, three?
29:18 Caller We have two.
29:19 Drew You have two kids. You should be committed to this relationship and understand that relationships all have ups and downs and you should be looking at figuring out how to work it through. This is a down time in this relationship and on behalf of your kids commit yourself to getting through this.
29:34 Caller That's where I'm torn.
29:35 Drew I think you're torn because you must come from a broken family where you don't understand.
29:39 Caller We both do.
29:39 Drew Yeah, you don't understand that this is what...
29:41 Caller And I don't want to do that to my children.
29:44 Drew But that's what you're going to throw in the towel when it actually sounds like you have a pretty healthy relationship. You sit down, you communicate, it's not right where you want it but you get it there.
29:52 Adam By Loveline's standards, you guys should get an award. You should write a book. You really like Connie Selica and John Tesh by Loveline's standards. You guys should come out in a series of tapes.
30:06 Nelly Furtado Plus it's a stressful time.
30:08 Drew But your model for marriage is that there's a little conflict, you leave, which is ridiculous. You're going to damage your kids.
30:14 Adam All right. But what does he do? Does he drink? Does he beat on you?
30:19 Caller No, he doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he's the angel and I used to be the devil.
30:25 Drew Yeah, that's the other thing I'm getting.
30:26 Adam She needs a little chaos.
30:27 Drew You need the chaos. Now there's no chaos, you can't stand it.
30:32 Adam You're looking for a little crack in the ass and a little chaos and a little abuse, right? You need to stir it up.
30:38 Caller A little bit more spice.
30:39 Drew You know what though, Lisa? You're laughing. We're not.
30:42 Adam No.
30:43 Drew It's not funny.
30:43 Adam Well, actually, I'm laughing because I don't care. But, Lisa, you know what you're going to do? You're going to go out and have an affair, you're going to get caught, you're going to make sure you get caught, make sure he finds out about it. Try to summon something in him, try to rattle his cage a little. There's going to be chaos. Don't do it. Just work your own ass out without him and with him. Okay?
31:05 Caller Got it.
31:06 Adam All right. On behalf of your kids, mama.
31:10 Caller Yeah, that's true.
31:11 Adam All right, mama.
31:12 Drew Yeah, that's true.
31:13 Adam Yeah. I like gilting everyone who calls a show with kids. I call them mama. Mama. That means I got a job to do. Yeah, see, she wanted some chaos.
31:23 Nelly Furtado That was a good one. You guys are smart.
31:24 Adam Oh, we know what's going on with all the ladies.
31:27 Nelly Furtado Oh, really?
31:28 Adam Just like high school. Oh, yeah. Kyle? Hi. You're 18.
31:33 Caller Yeah.
31:33 Adam What's up? High school.
31:34 Caller No, but first, Drew, I just want to say you're awesome, man. You help a lot of people out. And Adam, you're a freaking genius.
31:40 Adam Thank you.
31:41 Caller You are the man. I love the man show, dude.
31:43 Adam Thank you very much.
31:46 Caller Um, all right.
31:47 Caller You just my problem.
31:48 Caller Yes. I'm 18 and I've known I'm really close to like all my family. I get a really close knit family, you know, and my aunt is like she's acting like really goofy, like over the summer. She lives out in LA. She used to live out here. And over the summer over there visiting her. And we were up late when we're talking and something about there was a pen sitting there and she's like, well, you know, it's like a phallic symbol. We should get that out of here. Yeah, like I might even know what that word meant. And I was kind of like, well, whatever.
32:21 Adam OK.
32:22 Caller And we had to get on the plane to leave the next day. So I didn't really pay any attention to it.
32:27 Adam Was she drinking?
32:28 Caller Yeah. We were actually both drinking.
32:30 Drew Well, there you go.
32:31 Caller OK.
32:32 Me vodka. How old is she?
32:34 Caller She's 37.
32:35 Drew Oh, for God's sake.
32:36 Adam That's always nice when your aunt or your uncle's like, hey, you want to bong load?
32:41 Drew You're 17.
32:42 Adam Yeah, let's get them loaded. See if we can coax them into the jacuzzi.
32:47 Caller She's cool, though, you know?
32:48 Drew No, no, Kyle. She's great. Yeah, Kyle, no.
32:50 Adam She's great.
32:51 Drew No.
32:51 Adam Hey, how about some heroin? Oh, you're not cool. Whatever. All the kids are doing it.
32:57 Drew Yeah, this is not cool.
32:59 Adam All right. So, Kyle, she's in LA., right?
33:02 Caller Yeah.
33:02 Adam All right. You're in Illinois?
33:04 Caller Well, yeah, but the thing is, though, she's coming to visit.
33:08 Adam True. How many times? How many times in a half hour are you going to punch at Mike? Seriously? She's coming to visit.
33:15 Caller Yeah.
33:16 Adam She's coming to stay with you.
33:17 Caller She's coming to stay with my dad. And she's like she's been sending these e-mails and my dad found him. And he's been talking to me just like the e-mails are like, well, when your dad goes to sleep and, you know, we can like go in your room and, you know.
33:31 Drew What did your dad say when you talked to him?
33:34 Caller Well, he found him and he's like, Kyle, you've been talking to your aunt a lot lately, huh? I'm like, well, yeah. And she's all like, well, she's coming out here.
33:41 Caller And I don't really think.
33:42 Nelly Furtado Your father's sister?
33:43 Caller I'm sorry?
33:44 Nelly Furtado Your father's sister?
33:46 Caller It's it's my dad's, my stepmom's brother's wife.
33:51 Adam Yeah, for Christ's sake.
33:52 Nelly Furtado OK, so she's not like blood related to you.
33:54 Adam Start dating her.
33:55 Caller Totally at nine.
33:57 Adam And by the way, Kyle, feel free to work in the fact that you're not related to her at the top of the call when you speak that she's related to you.
34:05 Drew OK, sorry.
34:06 Adam It makes a difference.
34:07 Drew It makes it. They still would get the Thanksgiving syndrome out of this, though. Yeah, it's still the brother's wife. It's ridiculous. Yeah, the hell away from this one. Stay away.
34:17 Adam You want her, Kyle? Well, no. All right. Well, there you go.
34:21 Drew Relax.
34:22 Adam You're fine. All right.
34:23 Drew OK.
34:24 Adam All right. All right. Sleep on your stomach, though.
34:26 Caller Right. Good times.
34:30 Adam Oh, well, you know, 18 year old guys are so excited that someone wants to have sex with them. They just love to broadcast.
34:39 Drew Yeah. Radio show.
34:39 Adam The beauty, the beauty of being a guy is if you don't want to have sex with someone, you really don't have to unless it's another guy and he's bigger.
34:47 Drew But wait a minute, that doesn't really enter into a man's lexicon. Like, no. What do you mean?
34:52 Adam Yeah.
34:52 Drew Like it's an opportunity. What are you talking about?
34:55 Adam Yeah, it's funny. Listen, ladies, you can get sex from a guy by just telling them you need sex from him. And he'd be like, OK, you know, I mean, they sort of have to.
35:06 Drew Oh, but not only OK, it'd be like here on the freeway. What do you think?
35:11 Adam I really didn't want to. I know your blood and all, but what the hell? What? I guess we got to. Joey? Yes. You're 21?
35:20 Caller Yes.
35:21 Caller What's up?
35:23 Caller My son was he's going to be three and two weeks, and he got kicked out of daycare for licking the genitalia of another little girl.
35:33 Drew Oh, my God.
35:35 Adam He's well on his way, this lad.
35:37 Caller Oh, my God.
35:38 Caller So I've had, you know, child protective services over. And he's going to this doctor tomorrow, but no doctors really want to see him because he's so young. So I can't really go anywhere for help.
35:53 Drew So what do you think happened to him?
35:55 Caller I don't I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I don't leave him with. He's with my mother when I go to work. I'm a single mom, so I work full time. And so I don't think anybody's messed with.
36:06 Adam And let me let me I know Drew has kids, so he refuses to believe that this kind of stuff can go on without prior abuse. But for Christ sakes, kids put Tinker toys up their nose. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Kids do a lot of weird stuff. They put their they eat dirt.
36:22 Drew Yeah.
36:23 Adam You know, they stuff their faces in weird places. They do stuff. They don't know what it means necessarily.
36:29 Drew Absolutely. They throw stuff at each other. They bite each other, but they don't do this.
36:33 Adam I don't know. I don't know that they don't know that most of them know they don't.
36:37 Drew It's why child protective services get involved because they don't do this.
36:41 Caller Yeah, because I have a book on children's sexual behavior.
36:43 Adam Listen, I'm not saying it ain't abnormal by any stretch of the imagination. But here's what I am saying. There is a whatever percent chance that he was that he was just freaking out or screwing around or whacking off. You know what I mean? I don't mean physically, but I mean emotionally. Do you know what I mean? I mean, there's a chance. God knows. You know what I mean? Does it mean he was molested?
37:11 Drew No. No, but it means that there's some serious-
37:14 Adam He was exposed to something?
37:15 Drew Something. Well, what did the book tell you?
37:18 Caller It just said to consult professional health.
37:22 Drew When you see this.
37:22 Adam That's a great book, by the way.
37:24 Caller Yeah.
37:25 Adam Was that on the first page?
37:26 Caller What's normal, what's abnormal, and when to consult a professional?
37:30 Adam Yes. Hopscotch, dog piles, and Marco Polo. Normal. Eating puntaic? Not normal. Turn to the next page? Consult physician. Thank you. I'm glad about the book. Really? That was it?
37:46 Caller That's all it said. And I've been everywhere. I've called mental health, and nobody wants to help me because-
37:52 Adam Where's dad?
37:55 Caller South Carolina. He's not loved at all.
37:58 Adam I see. And how was he busted? Even though he's three, I look at it as busted. Who knocked him out?
38:05 Caller He was on the playground with the other kids, and he went off in the corner. The teacher took her eye off him for a second, and when they came back, the girl's pants were down, and his face was right in there.
38:16 Adam And what about the girl?
38:19 Caller The girl thought it was a game. She didn't feel, they asked her, but she's three, so she just went along with it. She didn't feel, they said she didn't ask her.
38:30 Drew So you wonder if she encouraged something.
38:31 Adam Well, that's what I'm kind of curious. Was he coaxing her to do it or was it her idea?
38:36 Caller He said that he pulled down her pants. Of course, this is three-year-olds talking about it.
38:40 Drew Yeah, it's such a specific act that is so far outside the usual lexicon of behaviors of that age. One of them was directed in getting this to happen. You can't say which it was though.
38:55 Caller Yeah.
38:56 Adam All right, well, hey Joy, you're a good mom, you're doing the right stuff. Don't freak too hard.
39:04 Caller All right?
39:04 Caller Well, is there anything I should do at home to correct it? I don't, I don't know.
39:10 Drew No, you keep, no, no, no, you just keep the, keep the environment safe and structured. Keep reading those books, spend more time with them.
39:17 Adam Books that tell you to consult a physician.
39:19 Drew Just at least you're spending the time to research things about the child care and then get the proper mental health care.
39:25 Adam Always keep, keep them on a steady diet, a taffy.
39:27 Drew I would think just a general, mouth busy. At three, a general pediatrician, a good general pediatrician might be enough right now.
39:32 Adam Yeah, but you just want to check the guy out. I don't think they're gonna give you any answers.
39:36 Drew Follow through future, follow going forward.
39:38 Adam All right. Good times. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Well, Nelly's the name of the CD. We will come back and speak to Jessica, who is going to talk about a rumor after this. It's the Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla. That be Dr. Drew over there. Nick Carter is going to be here tomorrow night from the Backstreet Boys. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Wonelly is the name of the CD. And Drew has an answer on the Juno Award, which is the Canadian Grammy, which Nelly has been the recipient of four. Go ahead.
40:58 Drew The awards began in 1970 as a result of a weekly music publication, RPM. A year later, the event changed the Juno Award. This 1971, it's suggestive of Hal Phillips, who asked that the magazine honor peer Juno, the head of the CRTC, which implemented the Canadian content regulations in 1971. But it was discovered that Juno, J-U-N-O, had been the chief goddess of the Roman pantheon. The spelling was changed and the awards are permanently named. See, the Canadians are a much headier group of people.
41:29 Adam They really are.
41:30 Drew They couldn't even lift the Juno rest. They had to turn it to the chief god of the pantheon.
41:38 Nelly Furtado Which has so much to do with music.
41:40 Adam And, you know, if you sell 15 CDs in Canada, it goes platinum.
41:44 Drew Yeah.
41:45 Adam And a whole different thing over there.
41:47 Nelly Furtado That's not true.
41:47 Adam Oh, yes. Well, no, it's a lesser amount. I don't know what it is. You know what it is?
41:53 Nelly Furtado Yeah, it's different hundreds of thousands. I'm double platinum there. But but it's the same thing in England. It's less. America is the only place where platinum is one million records.
42:05 Adam Listen, it makes sense if there's, you know, two hundred seventy five country million. And yeah. And there's I don't know how many. What do you got?
42:13 Caller 30 million or we've got about 30 million people in Canada.
42:17 Adam Yeah.
42:18 Nelly Furtado So if you sell a million records in Canada, you know, you know, large percentage of the folk have a record.
42:23 Adam And let me ask you this. I know you may not have an answer, but as the population increases, don't we have to bump that up at some point?
42:31 Caller No, that's a good point.
42:32 Adam We get to three hundred and fifty million.
42:34 Drew No, just add another metal because they're all Latino.
42:37 Adam Oh, I see. And ten years. Yeah.
42:39 Drew Just add the higher.
42:41 Adam Oh, I see. Come up to different compounds.
42:42 Caller Yeah.
42:44 Adam Magnesium or something.
42:45 Caller All right.
42:47 Adam Let's talk to Jessica's 14.
42:50 Caller Um, hi, um, yeah, there's like this rumor going on about me over at my school. And I have no reason why it's happening. It's crazy. Um, people think that I'm going to like, um, shoot out the school.
43:07 Drew And it's like ridiculous, you know, you've never said anything like, I wish I could harm someone.
43:14 Caller No, I just, hold on.
43:15 Adam Who says I wish I could harm someone?
43:17 Drew No, I wish, you know, I wish you were dad or something. Something just very casual and somebody blew it out of the portion.
43:21 Caller Who did that? I don't know.
43:23 Caller I was like, um, yeah, I like, Was that you?
43:26 Adam Yes. Preparing to fart. Jessica, sorry. I'm sorry, Nelly's being so insensitive.
43:33 Nelly Furtado I am not.
43:34 Adam She's got a couple of Canadian Grammys and she's all full of herself. Go ahead.
43:40 Nelly Furtado I have something to say about rumors, but go on.
43:44 Caller I wrote a song about it and then one of my teachers found it and then one of the teachers told and then there's all these rumors and then the principal's pulling me in.
44:01 Drew Listen, Jessica. Yeah, at the time when...
44:02 Caller And the police are coming and they're raiding my backpack.
44:05 Drew Listen, we're living in a time right now when people are uptight about this issue and reasonably so. Listen, you can't... if you'd written down on your song an explicit description of a plan to shoot the president.
44:16 Caller No, no.
44:16 Drew Just listen. You would have had the same reaction. I would have said, we're in the country. You are.
44:20 Caller That's what would have happened.
44:21 Caller No, I just like, I want to kill you. Like, you know, like I just like wrote something like, I want to kill you. Like, just cause like I was like feeling bad. Cause I like, I like.
44:28 Drew Hang on a second. I'm going to stop you Jessica. Nelly just said, well, Nelly just said she had several things like this happen in high school.
44:35 Nelly Furtado Well, no.
44:35 Drew Cause she threatened to kill someone?
44:37 Nelly Furtado No, I didn't threaten to kill somebody. I just mean, I mean similar situations where something will happen at school and something gets amplified bigger than what it really is. And then just teachers and authority figures are ultra sensitive cause they have to be at school.
44:54 Adam She threatened to kill Alan Thurman.
44:55 Nelly Furtado I didn't threaten to kill anybody. No, for instance, one time, you know, my friends lit a garbage can on fire and then, you know, they've tried for arsenic and blah blah blah. But they were just kids lighting paper towels in the garbage can. Right. One time we did a, you know, Janet Jackson dance routine and we kind of got pulled into the principal's office. It was all for simulating oral sex. Like we were 15 and they didn't want us to take it to the music festival.
45:22 Drew But that's what you were doing, right?
45:23 Nelly Furtado One time. No, we're just doing our dance moves. But you know what I mean? Yeah, exactly what you're saying. That's what we were doing and that's their job. So the hardest part about it is, I guess, all the rumors that go around at school, it's hard to deal with because you're 14 and it's hard being 14.
45:40 Adam Hey, Jessica, how did they find the song?
45:45 Caller I was like, my teachers are like really, really nosy. So I was like done with every assignment I had to do in class. And then they just, I started like copying it. Because one of my friends, I'm in a band and they wanted a copy of the song so they could actually understand what we were saying on the tape.
46:04 Adam What's the name of the song?
46:07 Caller BS, you know.
46:11 Adam What's it called?
46:12 Caller BS.
46:12 Adam BS. Yeah, right. And how's it go? How's the lyrics go?
46:17 Caller I don't know anymore because like I don't have them all memorized. I should, but the police confiscated it.
46:23 Adam What are you, the drummer?
46:24 Caller Huh?
46:25 Adam You the drummer?
46:26 Caller No, guitar.
46:27 Adam You don't know the lyrics?
46:28 Caller No. I like wrote them and I write so many songs. I write three songs a day.
46:35 Adam All right, baby. Settle in. That's all right. No one's worried you're going to shoot them.
46:39 Caller It's hard because I like lost all my friends except you.
46:42 Adam No, you didn't. No, you didn't.
46:44 Caller Yeah, everybody's like crazy.
46:45 Nelly Furtado It just seems that way.
46:46 Adam No. Listen, if they were real friends, they know the story. They know the situation.
46:51 Caller But like one of the people at my school, they walked past me. They didn't know that I was there. But they were like, oh my God, I hope she doesn't kill me too. You know, it's just her time.
47:00 Adam They're just screwing around with you.
47:02 Drew Jessica, it's painful to feel so abandoned alone and you're by yourself defending against this sort of onslaught of attention. But listen, nothing will come of this. You have no intent. Your friends will come back around. You're going to find out who your really close friends are through all that.
47:16 Adam OK.
47:17 Nelly Furtado You'll look back and laugh.
47:18 Drew All right.
47:18 Adam And we all could tell from Jessica that there's many more things going on in Jessica's life than that song.
47:24 Drew Yes.
47:24 Adam And that may be what people are picking up on. Not the song lyrics, but the general overall Jessica vibe, which is something that Jessica needs to look at.
47:32 Nelly Furtado Or the band could be really heavy.
47:34 Adam Yeah, they're freaking people out. Rich? Yeah. You're 24?
47:38 Caller 24.
47:39 Adam Yeah. When you were 5, you went down on a chick? Yeah.
47:41 Caller I'm sort of my friend. I had his girl and I had my girl.
47:43 Adam Perfectly normal, right?
47:45 Caller It's perfectly normal.
47:47 Drew Hold on. Hold on.
47:48 Adam Hold on a second there, Rich.
47:49 Caller Yeah.
47:50 Adam You're a real pioneer, by the way.
47:52 Caller Well, I like telling the story, actually.
47:54 Drew That's good. Sure.
47:56 Adam It'll be great once you have kids, too.
47:57 Caller Right.
47:58 Adam Sit them down around the fire. Have them hunker down and tell them about the time you went down on a chick at age 5.
48:04 Drew There we go.
48:04 Adam I can see him talking to his son. You're 70. You haven't gone down on a bitch yet? Come on. I was 5. I walked 10 miles in the snow to go down on a chick. We had a tough back then. No Nintendo.
48:18 Caller We'll take ourselves a little break.
48:19 Adam Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. We'll be back after this.
48:44 Caller You're listening to Loveline on Outrageous Talk Radio. 100.7 The Buzz. Outrageous Talk Radio. 100.7 The Buzz. KQBC Seattle.
49:11 Adam Yeah, it's a loveline. I'm Adam Carolla. That'd be Dr. Drew over there. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Hey. Whoa, Nelly is the name of the CD. She's going to be in San Francisco tomorrow night. Today's support.
49:26 Nelly Furtado San Francisco, Thursday night at Bimbo's, the best, really great nightclub in San Francisco, very old.
49:35 Adam And then back to LA for a few dates.
49:37 Nelly Furtado Playing the El Rey Friday and Saturday night in San Francisco.
49:40 Drew Oh, Salt Lake.
49:41 Adam El Rey is a great old theater, by the way.
49:42 Caller You like it?
49:43 Adam Yeah.
49:44 Caller Never been.
49:45 Adam Nice. You're going to have a good time there. I've seen a few shows there. Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Washington, New York, and Providence, all in the upcoming days, barely a day off. So look for Nelly. Coming to a town near you. And when we left off, we're speaking to Rich. Rich is 24.
50:08 Caller Yep.
50:09 Adam Says him and his friend went down on the girlfriends at 5.
50:13 Caller Yeah.
50:14 Adam And sawdomey by 8, right?
50:17 Caller No, no.
50:17 Adam No.
50:18 Caller I had a dry spell up until about 17.
50:20 Caller Yeah.
50:21 Drew What were you doing? What was your intent at 5?
50:25 Caller I don't know how I knew what to do. And I didn't like use my tongue. I just kissed the area.
50:31 Caller Sure.
50:32 Caller But it was my idea. I just don't know how I knew like what to do.
50:37 Drew Was it part of a game of some type?
50:39 Caller Well, I know that, you know, like we me and the girl would go into like the little toy house and she'd show me hers all the time.
50:48 Drew And so maybe this was something she was up to because the young kids will do this.
50:52 Caller When they talked me into showing her mine, she screamed, excuse me. She screamed and went and told on me. So I got into trouble, but I didn't get caught doing the other thing.
51:02 Adam Yeah. And how are you doing today?
51:06 Caller Well, recent breakup lately, but that's it.
51:09 Adam I see. With a five-year-old or?
51:11 Drew No, no.
51:11 Adam It's your own age.
51:12 Drew You're not into child stuff?
51:14 Caller No, not at all.
51:15 Adam You don't like the kiddies?
51:16 Caller Not at all.
51:17 Adam They're smooth.
51:17 Drew Your relationship has been okay? They have been okay?
51:21 Caller I've had two long-term relationships and one that just ended recently. Okay.
51:27 Drew There you go.
51:27 Adam Drew owes me a dollar because he said you're in a kiddie porn.
51:31 Caller Not at all.
51:32 Adam No? Nothing?
51:33 Caller No.
51:33 Adam Come on. A little bit, buddy?
51:35 Drew Not at all.
51:35 Adam Good times.
51:36 Caller No, no. I mean, I haven't had any abuse in my family or anything.
51:40 Drew All right.
51:40 Adam No, it's not for you.
51:41 Drew This actually, again, my point to Adam before was we were peeing together over here. Right?
51:47 Adam Well, we agreed to show each other a ding-a-ling.
51:49 Drew Right. No, was that it's the intent that's the issue. This guy was kind of experimenting and they were playing a little game, but no intent to stimulate or do anything sexual.
52:00 Adam Well, but what I'm saying, Drew, is you always say in a sort of wholesale way that it's always intent.
52:08 Drew No, no.
52:09 Adam No, no, no. No, no, no.
52:11 Drew We need to be checked out if you came across this.
52:13 Adam My argument always is that kids are aware of their peers' parts, and they're also aware that it's a little naughty, and kids will do things that they're not supposed to do just because they think they're not supposed to do them sometimes. And it doesn't always mean they were the victim of abuse.
52:30 Drew I agree.
52:31 Caller My friend that did it, he went and told his dad, I thought he was crazy for doing that.
52:37 Drew And?
52:37 Caller But he wasn't allowed to hang out with me anymore.
52:40 Adam Right. All right. And dad just gave him a beer and told him no more hanging out.
52:45 Drew A bowl, a bowl.
52:46 Adam With Rich.
52:46 Drew A bowl.
52:47 Adam All right. All right, Rich. Thanks for that backup, buddy. All right. There you go. Let's talk to Mike. Mike?
52:54 Caller Hi, Nelly. How are you doing tonight? Hi, Adam. Hi, Drew. Hey. Hi, Mike. How are you? I'm pretty good. I was just wondering if you're going to be playing country grammar and EI in concert on Put Me in LA.
53:05 Caller Oh.
53:10 Adam I don't know. I think it was.
53:12 Nelly Furtado Oh, now he's got a high voice. Damn.
53:14 Drew What was that? What was he up to?
53:18 Nelly Furtado I can do cover of it.
53:19 Drew You just want to know if Adam is going to be playing Kelsey Grammar.
53:25 Adam He didn't say that.
53:26 Nelly Furtado Kelsey Grammar.
53:27 Caller That's what he said when I heard it.
53:28 Nelly Furtado No, he didn't. He said Nelly. He thinks I'm Nelly the rapper or he's making playing the Japanese. And he asked if I was going to be singing EI EI Country Grammar at the LRA on Friday. You know what? Because he called in and asked me to. I think I might cover it.
53:44 Caller So come to the LRA on Friday.
53:46 Nelly Furtado I'll play just for you, Mikey.
53:47 Adam Country Grammar. That's a rap song. See, Drew, you gotta get hip, dude. Kelsey.
53:53 Caller Hey, guys, what's up?
53:54 Drew Anderson. Anderson's saying that. That's something I would say. You better have something I would say.
54:00 Adam You know what I love about Anderson, really? Here's Anderson's job besides, you know, work the board and play the sound effects. Feed me erroneous information through my headphones as the show goes on.
54:11 Drew Make you look like a fool.
54:11 Nelly Furtado Maybe that guy was serious.
54:13 Adam Didn't Eminem call the show once? No, no, he didn't, dude. Yeah, I think he did. No, no, I know.
54:19 Drew Hey, Newfound Glory is coming in on the 22nd.
54:20 Nelly Furtado All right.
54:21 Adam We will hop back on the phones and speak to Jeremy, who's 13. Jeremy?
54:29 Caller Yeah?
54:29 Adam What's up?
54:30 Caller Um, I don't know.
54:32 Caller It's like kind of small.
54:35 Adam Kind of what?
54:36 Caller Small.
54:36 Drew What is?
54:37 Adam Your problem?
54:38 Caller No, it's like an inch long.
54:41 Nelly Furtado Sorry, sorry. Oh, wait. Who's laughing?
54:45 Adam I thought it was you, Nelly.
54:47 Nelly Furtado No, because you didn't know what he was saying.
54:51 Adam We're really, we're really on a roll here tonight, Drew. Julius.
54:55 Hey, what's up, man?
54:56 Adam Hey, you're 23.
54:57 Caller I got a real problem here.
54:58 Adam Good times.
54:59 Caller Real quick.
55:00 What happened with Sybil Shubbert on that?
55:03 Drew The show I do?
55:05 Caller Yeah.
55:05 Drew I shouldn't have that job anymore. I have that job.
55:07 Adam Oh, is that?
55:08 Caller Oh, you took it over?
55:09 Adam That really explains it, Drew.
55:11 Drew All right. Real quick.
55:13 Adam Hold on. She doesn't have that job anymore.
55:16 Drew I don't know what happened.
55:17 Adam That's a Loveline answer.
55:19 Drew Yeah, it's a Loveline caller answer.
55:20 Adam Yeah.
55:21 Drew I actually don't know what happened.
55:22 Adam Okay.
55:23 Caller I don't know.
55:23 Adam She moved on.
55:24 Drew She moved on. Exactly.
55:26 Caller All right.
55:26 Adam Do you watch a Drew show?
55:28 Caller I've tuned in. Who's that girl with the glasses?
55:31 Drew Sam. Sam Phillips.
55:32 Caller Does she look smart with the glasses or without?
55:36 Caller That's the point of it.
55:37 Drew No, that's to give her the look of the librarian in a porn film.
55:41 Caller Yeah.
55:43 Adam Hey, Julius.
55:44 Caller Yeah.
55:45 Adam Let me ask you a quick question. Go ahead. Are we sitting somewhere at an airport having a couple of beers and chit chatting or did you call the goddamn radio show for the question? Which is it?
55:56 Caller That's one.
55:57 Adam Okay. Get to the question.
55:59 Caller All right.
56:02 Adam All right. That's it. That's it. Julius, I'm putting you back on hold till you learn to mind your P's and Q's. Kevin?
56:11 Yeah.
56:12 Adam You're 25.
56:13 Caller Hey, guys. Hey, Nelly. I just want to let you know you're absolutely beautiful and I love your song.
56:17 Nelly Furtado Oh, thank you very much.
56:18 Adam No problem.
56:19 Caller And my question is, me and my girlfriend or my current wife were going out about four years ago and she had her cervix froze for a general warts. And we've had a couple kids since then and she, the sex is really bad. She gets a lot of pain and she talked to the doctor about it and he said the average girl is only about three inches deep.
56:42 Drew Is that true? It's about the length of your middle finger.
56:49 Caller Okay, well I just kind of found that hard to believe because of the fact that I kind of thought that the average guy was like six inches.
56:55 Caller I just don't know how it's physically possible.
56:57 Drew There's a cervix at the end of a fingertip. I remember doctors when they reach in are feeling the cervix. They get there? Oh yeah. But there's an area, the cervix can get pushed aside and there's an area that can go back further.
57:11 Adam Yeah, you get into the champagne room, I call it.
57:14 Drew That's right. And also you can be, you're just gonna be pushed back a little bit.
57:17 Caller Yeah, after a few minutes she just gets really sore and I don't know, goes through a lot of pain. So it's just been real terrible.
57:25 Drew Is she talking to a doctor about it?
57:26 Caller Yeah, she did but that's basically what he told her and that's about all it's...
57:29 Drew Told her what?
57:31 Caller That the average girl is about three inches deep so I might be hitting in back and that's what's causing the pain.
57:36 Drew Yeah, so what? So you're hitting back there and it's painful. What's causing the pain? I don't know. It would always be painful. Yeah, but everyone always hits the back and so frequently hits the back or hits it in ways that are uncomfortable but why is it intolerable to her? I don't know. Well, he needs to answer that and I know I'm not trying to make this an issue for you but he needs to satisfactorily answer that for her.
57:56 Adam Yeah, I'll tell you though, you know you've arrived when the doctor is telling you your dork is too big.
58:01 Drew That's why he accepted it without asking any questions.
58:04 Adam Yeah, I could handle that kind of news.
58:06 Drew I won't tell it.
58:08 Caller And also, have you heard of the phrenic nerve because we've been listening to the radio and The phrenic nerve is a nerve that goes down to your diaphragm. Oh, your diaphragm. My wife is a nurse and she said something about because we're listening to something and they said we're talking about anal sex and she said that you can go into cardiac arrest from having anal sex because of the phrenic nerve.
58:29 Drew No, the vagal nerve.
58:30 Caller The vagal nerve.
58:31 Adam The phrenic nerve goes what, down your neck or something?
58:34 Drew Yeah, the phrenic, yeah. Phrenic is again, neck and into the chest diaphragm basically.
58:38 Adam Wow, if you hit that via anal sex, you really are hanging there.
58:42 Caller No.
58:43 Adam That's a good angle on your wife to get out of anal sex though, by the way. I don't want to go in a shock.
58:49 Caller The whole purpose was, I don't know, we didn't really discuss a whole lot because I know her view on it, but.
58:53 Drew Yeah. Look, she may have cysts, endometriosis, rather, it could be a lot of things and that needs to be satisfactorily evaluated.
59:02 Adam So, she said you could, what, like have a stroke or something?
59:06 Caller No, go into cardiac arrest.
59:07 Caller Yeah.
59:08 Adam Yeah. Clamp down, pull your penis off.
59:11 Drew What kind of nurse is your wife?
59:13 Caller She's an LPN.
59:14 Caller She's just a general nurse.
59:15 Drew She's not doing ICU stuff?
59:17 Caller No.
59:17 Drew Because what you'll see in ICU is that people with severe cardiac disease and critical kinds of illnesses, when they move their bowels, sometimes their heart slows down to the point they arrest. So, that kind of stimulation can be difficult. It's somebody who's predisposed to something. But if you're a normal healthy person, that should happen.
59:32 Adam That by the way means you're getting old when you take a cramp and your heart stops.
59:35 Drew That's what that means.
59:36 Adam That means you're getting up in years.
59:37 Drew That's what that means.
59:39 Adam That means your days are numbered. What happened? Try to go number two. Number one slows it down. Number two stops it. Jesus Christ. What killed them? Diarrhea. Nicole?
59:55 Caller Yes.
59:56 Adam You're twenty one?
59:57 Caller I am.
59:57 Adam What's up?
1:00:00 Caller I have a year old daughter and I just recently found out I thought it was I had been drinking and I thought maybe because I was drinking that I just didn't know what had happened but recently I found out that he had slipped GHB into my drink and my daughter is now a year old and I want to know if there's any effects.
1:00:26 Drew We have to reconstruct your question. You were pregnant and some guy slipped GHB into your drink while you were pregnant?
1:00:33 Caller No. I became pregnant.
1:00:34 Drew As a result of him putting in GHB?
1:00:36 Caller Right.
1:00:37 Drew And you want to know if that would have anything to do with your daughter's condition?
1:00:41 Caller Right.
1:00:41 Drew No.
1:00:42 Adam What kind of condition is she in?
1:00:46 Caller She has no health problems now.
1:00:50 Drew I gotta stop you because this is the important thing that people have got to get through their head. What is your concept about when the pregnancy actually occurs? Like minutes during the sexual act?
1:01:02 Caller No.
1:01:04 Drew When do you think it occurs?
1:01:08 Caller What had happened was...
1:01:09 Drew Listen to me. Listen to my question. Drew. I gotta answer. You tell us. Because I gotta make sure that she understands even what I'm telling her. When do you think a pregnancy occurs? If you're having sex, when does the actual egg meet the sperm?
1:01:21 Caller I don't know.
1:01:22 Drew Okay. About two, three days later.
1:01:24 Caller Okay.
1:01:24 Drew Okay. GHB is long gone from your system.
1:01:27 Caller Okay.
1:01:27 Caller So there's no effect.
1:01:28 Drew Right.
1:01:29 Caller Okay.
1:01:30 Drew And actually, I beg your pardon. That's about two days, usually most commonly within 24 hours of ovulation. So even if you had just ovulated on the day you were having sex, it would still be 24 hours before you got the pregnancy to occur. Okay. So it's usually two or three days.
1:01:45 Adam How do you know the guy put GHB in your drink?
1:01:48 Caller His best friend, who's no longer his friend because of this, was a mutual friend of ours.
1:01:57 Adam I see.
1:01:57 Caller He just recently told me.
1:02:00 Adam And is he financially somewhat responsible for this child now?
1:02:05 Caller No. Originally, when I first told him I was pregnant, he said, you know, whatever you decide, I'm behind you 100%. And I had actually went down to go get an abortion. And when you go to an abortion, they make you go twice. The first time for a consultation. Consultation, excuse me. And they show you videos and pictures, and I just ran out crying. And I went back to him, and I told him, you know, I can't do this. It's not in me. I have to have this child. And he's like, well, I want nothing to do with you or this child.
1:02:41 Adam Yeah. How come you didn't call the cops when he drugged you and raped you?
1:02:44 Caller I didn't know. I just recently found out that he had used GHB. My daughter was already born when I found out.
1:02:52 Adam I see. You just thought you were drunk?
1:02:54 Drew Yes.
1:02:55 Adam Even so, was this guy your boyfriend?
1:02:58 Caller No, we had been friends for three years.
1:03:00 Drew It's still rape.
1:03:01 Caller And he was a bartender at a club.
1:03:03 Drew Yeah. Why didn't you report the rape in the first place?
1:03:07 Caller Well, I didn't think it was rape at first.
1:03:09 Adam Okay. All right. So can you make him can get some money off this guy so I don't have to pay for it?
1:03:14 Caller Actually, he's on the run. I from last I heard he's in Fiji.
1:03:20 Drew Nice.
1:03:22 Adam Really?
1:03:22 Drew From you or from some other problem?
1:03:25 Caller Not from me.
1:03:26 Adam Something else? More rape? Good. I'm going to Fiji.
1:03:31 Caller Good times. You're not paying for it. I don't use any support whatsoever. I have a full-time job. Go to school.
1:03:38 Adam Right. Not yet. Eventually, I'm going to have to start paying. All right, Nicole. Take care of yourself.
1:03:42 Caller Thanks, guys.
1:03:43 Adam All right.
1:03:44 Caller Bye.
1:03:45 Adam Good times. What a dynamite lad. Yeah. And what about what? They show you films?
1:03:51 Drew Yeah.
1:03:51 Adam What is that?
1:03:52 Drew I wonder if that was one of those third. There are places out there that explicitly discourage abortion. You know what I mean? They tell themselves abortion clinics, but they go in and knock you out of it. Yeah. Which is, you know, let's understand.
1:04:03 Adam They show you like fetuses getting hit by golf clubs and stuff.
1:04:06 Drew Yeah.
1:04:06 Adam And then you run out screaming.
1:04:07 Drew Yes.
1:04:08 Adam That's a good plan. Yeah. I don't appreciate that.
1:04:12 Caller Yeah.
1:04:12 Adam I'm all for the abortion. How's the abortion going in Canada?
1:04:16 Caller I don't know.
1:04:17 Drew Is it legal?
1:04:18 Caller It's legal, I think.
1:04:19 Adam How about that? Are you 486?
1:04:21 Nelly Furtado I think there was some like, I don't know. I think there's one province where there's like a lot of anti-abortion groups. I think maybe I'd be Quebec.
1:04:28 Caller I'm not sure. I'm really misinformed. I don't want to go back. I don't know.
1:04:33 Drew I think Quebec is a great Catholic.
1:04:35 Nelly Furtado Yeah. Like I think. Yeah. Wasn't it? There was like some. There was some. Yeah. No, there was some. No. So I'm like, nope, nope. Don't remember that one. No, there was some violence that occurred towards an abortion clinic not too long ago in Canada.
1:04:51 Caller It happens all the time, but I forget which province.
1:04:55 Nelly Furtado Pretty much the same.
1:04:56 Caller Hello.
1:04:56 Nelly Furtado Well, not the same.
1:04:57 Adam Myra.
1:04:58 Caller I don't have a Bible Belt in Canada.
1:04:59 Adam Thanks for that definitive answer, by the way. Myra.
1:05:02 Caller Yes.
1:05:04 Adam Hello. I feel like I'm in Canada. I don't know so much about Canada. I don't know. Something. Maybe. Never know. No, not Quebec. Could be Quebec.
1:05:15 Nelly Furtado Come on.
1:05:17 Adam You're 22 there, Myra.
1:05:18 Caller Yes, I am.
1:05:19 Adam What's up?
1:05:20 Caller Nothing much.
1:05:21 Caller I'm just calling in to say hi to Nelly.
1:05:24 Nelly Furtado Hi.
1:05:25 Caller Nelly, do you remember me? I'm from Sacramento.
1:05:27 Nelly Furtado Yeah, I do. Myra, how are you? Oh, wow.
1:05:31 Caller She remembers me.
1:05:32 Drew Which one is she?
1:05:33 Nelly Furtado She's the one who was right in the front and she was singing all the words.
1:05:36 Caller There you go, Nelly. That was me.
1:05:37 Nelly Furtado You're a super fan. And you were with your friend who was running after my guitar player.
1:05:43 Caller Yeah.
1:05:44 Caller Guess what?
1:05:45 Caller We're coming to your LA show.
1:05:47 Nelly Furtado Oh, you're coming to LA.?
1:05:49 Caller Great. We're coming down.
1:05:51 Nelly Furtado Good stuff. Wish we were coming to Sacramento. We'll be there next time.
1:05:54 Caller We were going to go to the San Francisco show Thursday, but I didn't know those tickets were coming out and I already bought the LA show tickets.
1:06:00 Nelly Furtado Bimbos. Yeah, and that's a good venue, too, Bimbos. That's OK. The LA will be will be happening.
1:06:04 Caller Yeah, I'm going to both shows.
1:06:06 Nelly Furtado Oh, Bimbos and LA.?
1:06:07 Adam No, both LA shows.
1:06:09 Nelly Furtado Oh, sweet. Oh, you know, OK, Saturday, there's a tight girl.
1:06:12 Caller I don't know why you don't believe me.
1:06:14 Adam She believes you.
1:06:15 Caller I kept telling her at the show, I was like, Oh, you're so freaking tight.
1:06:19 Nelly Furtado Oh, thank you.
1:06:20 Caller I just wanted to say.
1:06:21 Adam Hold on, let me explain. Tight is a good thing. Tight is dope.
1:06:26 Nelly Furtado Tight is dope. Jack Johnson, this really great opener on Saturday. Saturday night, you're going to really love the opening act. Jack Johnson, he's from Santa Barbara, plays guitar. He just got off the Ben Harper tour. He did the whole Ben Harper tour.
1:06:39 Caller He's excellent Saturday night.
1:06:41 Nelly Furtado So make sure you get there early. Doors open at 7.
1:06:43 Caller I will be there full force.
1:06:44 Adam You can stay with Drew when you come out to town. Full force.
1:06:47 Caller But Nelly, I wanted to know what's your inspiration. I know I read a lot up on you and you like Della Soul and Janet Jackson, Mary J.
1:06:54 Caller Blige, all them.
1:06:55 Nelly Furtado I listen to everything.
1:06:56 Caller They're from our era because I'm 22 too.
1:06:58 Nelly Furtado I know. We're the hip hop generation. We grew up on all the urban stuff. It's in our brains. But yeah, I listen to everything. You know, obviously I'm influenced a lot by my Portuguese background, so I do listen. I love a lot of Brazilian artists. I love Jeff Buckley, Catana Veloso, Amalia Rodriguez. I love all the urban stuff too.
1:07:17 Caller We're right up there. Prince...
1:07:19 Nelly Furtado Yes, you gotta go there.
1:07:21 Caller My parents just got back. They were there for a month.
1:07:23 Nelly Furtado Oh, really?
1:07:24 Caller I was like, what?
1:07:25 Caller Maybe I'll make a record there next time.
1:07:27 Adam Myra, you two can get caught up Saturday, alright?
1:07:31 Caller Are you cutting me off?
1:07:32 Caller Yeah.
1:07:33 Nelly Furtado It's been fun talking to you though.
1:07:34 Adam We gotta help the kids.
1:07:36 Caller Friday night, Nelly.
1:07:37 Nelly Furtado Okay, have fun.
1:07:38 Caller I'll be there in front.
1:07:39 Nelly Furtado We'll see you in LA. We're bringing you different shows. You'll like it.
1:07:42 Caller Take care. Peace out.
1:07:44 Adam Peace out. Word up.
1:07:46 Nelly Furtado Hi.
1:07:48 Adam Stacey?
1:07:49 Caller Yeah.
1:07:50 Adam You're 19?
1:07:51 Caller Yeah.
1:07:51 Nelly Furtado What's up?
1:07:54 Adam What color was that woman, by the way? She white?
1:07:58 Nelly Furtado Yeah. I think so. No, actually, I think she might be like, yeah, or maybe part Native American. I'm not sure.
1:08:06 Caller Really?
1:08:06 Adam That's amazing. Oh, hold on a second. I want to find out.
1:08:09 Caller Myra?
1:08:09 Caller Yes?
1:08:10 Adam What's your color?
1:08:11 Caller I am Hispanic. I am half Venezuelan and half Mexican.
1:08:14 Nelly Furtado Okay, right. About your Native American.
1:08:16 Adam I couldn't remember.
1:08:17 Caller Oh, no, Nelly, no, no, no. That's why I thought my parents went to Venezuela a month ago, and I was seeing if they heard of you because Brazil is right under us.
1:08:24 Adam All right, baby.
1:08:25 Caller So, I don't know.
1:08:27 Adam Good time. Good time.
1:08:28 Drew He wanted to check.
1:08:29 Adam I just want to check. All right, where were we? Stacey over here. Stacey?
1:08:34 Drew Nelly wanted to hear that part.
1:08:36 Adam Stacey, you're 19. What's up?
1:08:41 Caller I've been with this guy for like two months. We've done everything but sex. And he says that he's not ready.
1:08:49 Drew How old is he?
1:08:50 Caller He's 21.
1:08:51 Drew And you're 19.
1:08:52 Caller Yeah.
1:08:52 Drew Is he a virgin?
1:08:53 Caller No.
1:08:54 Drew Not ready with you. What? He's not ready to have sex with you. Yeah. How long have you been with him?
1:09:00 Caller Like two months.
1:09:01 Adam Has he had sex just one other time? Or did he have a girlfriend?
1:09:05 Caller No, he's had girlfriends.
1:09:07 Drew Is he wanting to date other people and concerned that you might get too attached?
1:09:12 Caller I don't know. It's not like that.
1:09:14 Adam I think he's scared about his performance.
1:09:16 Drew Why? Really?
1:09:18 Adam Well, listen, anytime a guy does not want to have sex with a girl.
1:09:22 Nelly Furtado Because he really digs in. He's scared.
1:09:25 Drew No.
1:09:25 Adam No, no. Hold on a second. That doesn't happen. Yes, it does. No, let me explain. No, put on your thinking cap. I'm following. Put on your thinking, Jack. When a guy doesn't want to have sex with a girl, it's usually one of two reasons. Either there's some kind of religious conflict. He wants to wait till he's married or something like that. Or if he's had sex a few times in the past and had a few girlfriends in the past, he may have had some difficulty, especially his last time out.
1:09:54 Drew Do you think this?
1:09:54 Adam He may be freaked out a little bit.
1:09:56 Drew Do you think there could also be that he sees that once he's dating other women simultaneously and he sees this one getting super attached, he may have a service agreement somewhere else?
1:10:05 Adam 21 year old guys aren't that thoughtful.
1:10:08 Drew If they have a service agreement elsewhere, this is the bullpen.
1:10:15 Adam Why is a 21 year old guy dating a girl who's having frequent sex with somebody else? Why is he dating this 19 year old that doesn't want sex? Think about the guy who's got a service deal going on. He's banging everything that walks.
1:10:27 Drew She may be out of town or something.
1:10:30 Adam No. No, no, no. Think about that guy who's 21 and has a few things going. He's screwing all of them. Any guy with a service agreement is open for business and servicing all makes and models.
1:10:43 Drew But the fact is that he won't be as desperate.
1:10:46 Adam He may not be as desperate, but he's not turning away.
1:10:49 Drew But he wouldn't take into consideration things like, gee, this girl's feelings are going to get hurt if he didn't have a service agreement.
1:10:54 Adam Lay off there, Drusky. Sorry, but no dice. Nelly, who are you with? Me or Drew?
1:11:00 Nelly Furtado I don't know, I'm thinking about that one. 21 year old boys coming all, you know. Varieties.
1:11:05 Adam Stacey, let's do a little more research on this guy. Okay. Does he part his hair to the side?
1:11:12 Caller No.
1:11:13 Adam Does he go to school?
1:11:15 Caller Not right now.
1:11:16 Adam What's he do for a living?
1:11:19 Caller He's in a band.
1:11:21 Adam In a band.
1:11:21 Nelly Furtado Oh, he's in a band.
1:11:25 Adam That's an argument for me.
1:11:26 Drew You know what it could be?
1:11:27 Adam Wait a minute.
1:11:28 Drew Wait a minute.
1:11:30 Adam What have you done with him so far?
1:11:32 Nelly Furtado Everything.
1:11:33 Drew Bad sex.
1:11:34 Adam And oral sex?
1:11:36 Nelly Furtado Yeah.
1:11:36 Adam And how did his penis behave?
1:11:40 Drew Exemplary.
1:11:41 Adam How did his penis behave?
1:11:43 Caller How did it behave?
1:11:44 Drew Did it perform properly?
1:11:45 Adam Functioning?
1:11:46 Caller Yeah. Functioning.
1:11:48 Adam He got good wood.
1:11:49 Caller Yeah.
1:11:50 Adam And...
1:11:50 Caller I just touch him and...
1:11:52 Adam Yeah. Something pops out, right?
1:11:54 Caller Yeah.
1:11:55 Adam How long did it take him to orgasm?
1:11:59 Caller Oh, it wasn't that long at all.
1:12:02 Adam I think he's got a premature problem. I think he's a little freaked out. I mean, here's a guy. He's a cool guy. He's in a band. He's had other girlfriends.
1:12:12 Nelly Furtado Maybe he says he's had sex before, but he hasn't.
1:12:16 Adam That much. What kind of music does a band play? Christian Rock?
1:12:23 Caller No, no, it's just rock.
1:12:25 Adam Just rock. You think you might have, you know, band guys are pretty notorious for having a few chicks. You think there's something else going?
1:12:34 Caller That's what I'm afraid of.
1:12:36 Drew Oh, see? All right.
1:12:38 Caller A service seat?
1:12:39 Adam Why do you think that?
1:12:40 Nelly Furtado 21 year olds in bands are usually a bit smarter. They have service agreements, maybe.
1:12:45 Adam You think you think it's got something going on the side? Is he your boyfriend? Does he say he's your boyfriend?
1:12:53 Caller Yeah.
1:12:54 Drew You said, well, we're dating only each other.
1:12:57 Caller Yeah.
1:12:57 Drew That's been stated.
1:12:59 Nelly Furtado I have one more question. Is he the guitar player or the singer-songwriter of the band?
1:13:03 Caller He played bass in these things.
1:13:05 Nelly Furtado Does he write the songs?
1:13:06 Caller Yeah.
1:13:08 Drew Well, it's Nelly. Nelly, all knowing.
1:13:10 Adam Oh, OK. Did you did you meet him at a show?
1:13:14 Drew No.
1:13:14 Adam No.
1:13:16 Drew Did you know him before he was in a band?
1:13:18 Caller No.
1:13:18 Adam And you've been going out for a few months.
1:13:20 Caller Yeah.
1:13:21 Drew Two months.
1:13:21 Adam And he's not finishing you off. And he went down on you?
1:13:26 Caller Yeah.
1:13:28 Drew Maybe one of those guys that maybe is a total pig and he's just into oral sex and that's it.
1:13:32 Adam You think he may just be into the oral?
1:13:36 Caller It's possible.
1:13:37 Adam OK. You're really a wealth of information, Stacey. I could get more information. Does that make him a total pig? I could talk to myself and get more information about this guy.
1:13:45 Drew You know, I was using her. She's just a way to get the right stuff.
1:13:49 Adam Stacey, you don't know anything, so we don't know anything.
1:13:53 Drew But wouldn't that be... she's just a groupie.
1:13:55 Adam Yes. You certainly sound like a groupie.
1:13:57 Caller I haven't even heard his band.
1:14:00 Adam You haven't heard the band?
1:14:01 Caller I've heard one of their songs.
1:14:03 Adam So I don't think you guys are boyfriend and girlfriend. You sure?
1:14:09 Caller Yeah.
1:14:09 Drew How could it be a girlfriend, him not include you in his important parts of his life?
1:14:12 Adam You don't go to the shows?
1:14:15 Caller They haven't been playing shows.
1:14:16 Caller They've been recording.
1:14:17 Adam All right. All right. Hey, can we talk to him?
1:14:21 Caller He's not here right now.
1:14:23 Adam Can you call his other girlfriend's house so we can talk to him? No. All right, baby. Keep your eyes open. Don't get pregnant.
1:14:32 Drew This doesn't sound good to us.
1:14:33 Adam No. I don't know. I'm leaning now toward Drew's original theory, although a guy who's in a band, a guy who's banging around, and a guy, it could be a technicality thing.
1:14:48 Drew I'm leaning towards the John. I got to go pee. Let's go.
1:14:50 Adam Okay. Nelly's here. We'll take a break. We'll be back.
1:14:55 Drew Hello.
1:14:57 Caller This is Loveline. 1-800-LOVE-191. Loveline, we'll be right back.
1:15:20 Adam Yeah, well, good.
1:15:22 Nelly Furtado Incubus, my favorite band. Great song, Drive, requested at your local radio station.
1:15:27 Adam Oh, nice guys too, that Incubus. They were on the show.
1:15:31 Nelly Furtado Yeah, they are nice guys.
1:15:32 Adam Fairly recently, weren't they, Ann? A few months back, weren't they?
1:15:35 Drew No, not that long ago.
1:15:37 Nelly Furtado All right.
1:15:38 Adam Anderson says eight months a year, so since he always goes for the negative extreme, I'll say four to six months.
1:15:46 Nelly Furtado Four years ago.
1:15:47 Adam It is Loveline and Adam Corolla. That is Dr. Drew over there. Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Furtado means egg-based omelet, right? Flat pan omelet. Didn't we look that up, Drew? Furtado.
1:16:00 Drew Furtado means open-faced omelet.
1:16:01 Nelly Furtado Furtado, which has nothing to do with F-U-R-T-A-D-O.
1:16:04 Drew F-R-I-T.
1:16:05 Adam Open-faced omelet.
1:16:07 Drew We argued about this last night. I'll have you know.
1:16:09 Adam That's right. Nelly's the name of the CD.
1:16:13 Nelly Furtado My last name.
1:16:15 Adam It's just close. That's all. All right. We'll take a call and then we'll hear another name.
1:16:20 Nelly Furtado I'm probably just mad because someone actually said that joke at the Junos. Get your microwave, microwaveable Nelly Furtado's.
1:16:27 Adam Someone made that at the Junos? Really? And see, I don't think that would fly stateside. I don't think we have a sophisticated enough audience or maybe not a large enough French population, right?
1:16:39 Drew French. Yeah, French.
1:16:41 Nelly Furtado It's not French. Oh, you mean for people to be familiar with like other languages, other foods, even though it's Portuguese.
1:16:46 Adam Listen, if...
1:16:46 Nelly Furtado And if Furtado is Spanish.
1:16:48 Adam If somebody... I thought it was Spanish, too. Drew says it's French.
1:16:52 Nelly Furtado So you're saying if Furtado is French.
1:16:55 Adam That's what Drew says. And I...
1:16:56 Nelly Furtado Okay, now that would make sense if the Junos and I won't be as angry at the announcer now. I wasn't angry, though.
1:17:02 Adam Well, you got all those, you got all those French Canadians over there, right?
1:17:08 Nelly Furtado He got this on Spanish to me.
1:17:09 Adam You're 18. What's up?
1:17:11 Caller Yeah.
1:17:11 Adam Hi.
1:17:12 Caller I just really want to say, first of all, that Dr. Drew, I saw you on a Primetime News special about a month and a half ago, and you were talking about oral sex in teenagers. And of course your expertise was your radio talk show. And you stated there, and I found it a little bit saddening, that you find that it's an uphill battle and it's very difficult to hear teenagers and their sex stories every night and feel that you're not making a difference. But I also wanted to let you know that this show, and you and Adam and all your guests, are one of the primary reasons that I've never touched drugs or alcohol.
1:17:50 Drew Are you really 18? Are you 32?
1:17:52 Caller No, I'm 18.
1:17:53 Drew Wow. Doesn't he sound more mature than that?
1:17:55 Caller Yeah. Well, I'm Deca National, so it kind of, I have the ability to speak fluently, I guess.
1:18:02 Drew What does that mean?
1:18:02 Nelly Furtado What's Deca National?
1:18:04 Caller Deca National is an association of marketing students.
1:18:06 Drew Oh, wow. Interesting.
1:18:07 Caller It's a competition in which you get to display your marketing skills.
1:18:10 Drew Oh, wow. Interesting.
1:18:11 Caller But I also want to let you know, What the hell?
1:18:14 Drew Hold on.
1:18:14 Adam That don't get you laid.
1:18:18 Caller Every time my friends and I get in trouble with sexual things, I refer them back to something you guys said, and without this show and without the help that you provide kids, I really think that we'd be a lot more lost out there. And I know that my group of friends is very satisfied, very happy to listen to Adam at night. You know, he ruled Adam, of course.
1:18:40 Adam Thank you.
1:18:41 Caller And Dr. Drew, I'm so happy that you're here. And right now, I'm about, I'm actually about to turn 18 in two days.
1:18:47 Drew Happy birthday.
1:18:48 Caller Thank you very much. I'm scared to death. Because all the girls that I've ever dated, of course, are not 18. And I'm worried about the statutory rape laws. I've never had sex. I don't plan on having sex in my current relationship. It just brings up too many problems that I get to hear every night on your show.
1:19:11 Adam Yeah, but a lot of people die in car accidents. That doesn't mean they don't drive.
1:19:15 Caller Well, I don't want to, I'll come to that bridge when, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
1:19:20 Adam Well, you rape that bridge when you get to it.
1:19:22 Caller Yeah, exactly.
1:19:23 Adam That's what my grandfather used to say.
1:19:24 Drew Nice.
1:19:25 Adam Go ahead there, Justin.
1:19:26 Caller But I was just wondering, if I have any sort of sexual relationship, I'm talking about like oral sex or manual sex or however you want to put that, what are the rules? My girlfriend is just about 17 and I was wondering what the rules are and that, because I've heard horror stories about how you've been in a relationship for eight, eight, 10 months, you do something with a girl, not even sexual, the parents find out, all they have to do is go to court.
1:19:52 Adam All right, all right, Justin, you're a big thinker and the problem is it's good, it'll serve you well in life but it doesn't work well with your genitalia. You're thinking yourself right out of sex. Drew, tell them what the, first of all-
1:20:06 Drew Well, I don't know what is in Washington, he's in Seattle. In California, you can be within three years of the person if you're over 18.
1:20:13 Adam I don't suspect you'll be arrested. You can look it up, get on the internet and see what the statutory rape laws are in the state of Washington. Within three years?
1:20:25 Drew 16. 16. They just looked it up, 16 in the state of Washington.
1:20:28 Nelly Furtado You have to be within three years?
1:20:29 Drew In California, within three years. If you're 19, the girl can't be younger than 16.
1:20:33 Nelly Furtado Oh, same in Washington?
1:20:35 Drew No, it turns out the age of consent is 16 in Washington.
1:20:38 Nelly Furtado Okay.
1:20:38 Drew So if he's over 16-
1:20:40 Nelly Furtado No 15-year-olds.
1:20:41 Drew Right, that's it.
1:20:42 Adam He's good. He's got a 16-year-old girlfriend.
1:20:45 Drew And the statutory rape accusations usually do, in fact, as you described me, occur as a result of pissed-off parents.
1:20:52 Adam Yeah, if you're in a long-term monogamous relationship, people don't seem to get upset and report things like this. Nobody is going to turn Justin in. Could you imagine having this guy dating your 16-year-old? You chain him to her. Like, you're never going to leave this guy. He doesn't want to have sex with you. He's in the Madrinas Escuderos or whatever the Spanish club or whatever the marketing club he's in. He speaks, he's like Ralph Nader. He has a Ralph Nader's genitalia. He's got an old man's brain. He's practically like a born-again Christian. You two are getting married. I mean, wouldn't you insist on it? If you never have sex, you would always be a missionary.
1:21:31 Nelly Furtado I was wondering, you told him not to think himself out of sex? So you're suggesting he does have sex with this girlfriend?
1:21:39 Adam I am saying that this guy intellectualizes too much. Well, I don't have to tell you because you're Portuguese, but you know passion. I don't have to explain passion to you. It's not something you can sit down and quantify. It's an intellectual process. You have to let yourself go.
1:21:57 Drew Nelly is a passionate person.
1:21:58 Adam She's a passionate, passionate Portuguese woman.
1:22:02 Nelly Furtado Thanks, Adam.
1:22:03 Adam They're very passionate women, those Portuguese. That's right. That means orgy, for some.
1:22:10 Nelly Furtado Oh, come on.
1:22:11 Adam What's for some mean?
1:22:12 Nelly Furtado Have you seen the movie Road Trip?
1:22:14 Adam No, I didn't see that.
1:22:15 Nelly Furtado There's a guy who thinks a lot in that movie.
1:22:19 Adam And he doesn't get laid, right?
1:22:20 Nelly Furtado I don't think so.
1:22:21 Adam You see? That's my point. And we all know movies are always...
1:22:24 Nelly Furtado But he smokes a lot of weed as an escape.
1:22:27 Adam We will take ourselves a little listen to another Nelly song here off of Whoa Nelly. You cue it up there, Anderson. This one is called Turn Off the Light. That is another offering from the famous Nelly. Well, Nelly is the name of the CD. Oh, time to go to break here there, Drew.
1:27:17 Caller All right.
1:27:17 Adam Drew, you're having a good time reading today? You're getting paid for this, all right?
1:27:22 Caller Good times.
1:27:23 Adam Headphones off, leaning back.
1:27:25 Drew I'm waiting for you to go to break.
1:27:26 Adam You want to get your slippers? You want a pipe?
1:27:30 Drew That would be bad.
1:27:31 Adam Just lean back, start a fire in here.
1:27:33 Drew Nice.
1:27:34 Adam You have a little chat, like FDR.
1:27:38 Caller All right.
1:27:38 Adam We're going to take a little break. We'll be back.
1:27:58 Caller You're listening to Loveline on Outrageous Talk Radio 100.7 The Buzz.
1:28:07 Caller Weezer.
1:28:10 Adam This is Weezer?
1:28:11 Nelly Furtado No, but Weezer's great.
1:28:12 Adam This is Blink 182. Oh, okay, yeah, Weezer.
1:28:16 Drew This just bloated that out.
1:28:18 Nelly Furtado I was listening to their CD today.
1:28:20 Adam You just yelled, you just yelled Weezer.
1:28:23 Nelly Furtado I don't know. You reminded me of that CD.
1:28:26 Adam Nelly Furtado is our guest tonight. Whoa, Nelly is the name of the CD. Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys is in here tomorrow night.
1:28:34 Caller Ooh, ooh.
1:28:36 Adam And we'll hop back on the phones and speak to Teresa. Teresa, hello. You're 19. What's going on?
1:28:43 Caller Well, I've been dating this guy for about three months now. And I've never gone down on another guy before, and he's never had anybody go down on him. And every time I do, I give him a rash.
1:28:57 Drew What does it look like?
1:28:58 Caller It looks like, well, the first time, it was just like a little tiny patch about the size of a quarter on the top side of it.
1:29:07 Adam Hold on. That's the whole width of my penis, by the way. That's a quarter.
1:29:10 Caller Well, not a quarter. Well, maybe like a nickel. Well, I don't know. It's pretty small.
1:29:15 Drew On the penis.
1:29:16 Caller On the penis.
1:29:17 Drew A red patch.
1:29:18 Caller Just a red patch of little splotches.
1:29:21 Drew Maybe just being overly sort of progressive. Enthusiastic.
1:29:26 Adam Do you wear a retainer?
1:29:27 Caller No.
1:29:28 Adam Okay.
1:29:29 Caller No.
1:29:29 Adam Just playing a hunch.
1:29:32 Caller The second time it got like a little bit bigger. And then the third time I did it, I paid like a lot of attention to the head of his penis. And it just broke out all over in a rash.
1:29:44 Drew And what do you mean it broke out? It just turned red?
1:29:47 Caller It just turned bright red. And he says it burns. He won't go see a doctor. He refused to see a doctor about it. We've had unprotected sex before and it's never done that before. It only happens when I go down on him.
1:30:01 Drew How long do you do that to him when you're down there?
1:30:04 Caller Not very long. Maybe like four, three, four minutes. Not very long.
1:30:10 Adam Yeah. The accepted time measurement is two Led Zeppelin songs. You pick the song.
1:30:16 Caller It's not very long.
1:30:18 Drew Excluding Stairway to Heaven.
1:30:19 Adam You can do one Stairway to Heaven. I like Black Dog and Misty Mountain Hop.
1:30:25 Caller Right.
1:30:25 Adam Those are my oral sex songs. Hey, Teresa. You've not been with other partners or you never gave oral sex to anybody?
1:30:34 Caller I've never gave oral sex to anybody.
1:30:36 Adam And you've not been with any other partners?
1:30:38 Caller I've been with one other person before but it was against my will.
1:30:43 Drew That's nice. We're suspicious though in this case, not to delve into that other issue. This is just sort of something you're mechanically doing.
1:30:52 Caller What do you say, Adam?
1:30:54 Adam I don't know. I've slammed my penis in cab doors. I've had garbage disposal before. QuickSand, Locusts. I never had a rash. What are you saying, Nelly?
1:31:06 Nelly Furtado She should be concerned because she's having unprotected sex with him and he has a rash.
1:31:10 Drew Yeah.
1:31:11 Nelly Furtado That's what I'm thinking.
1:31:11 Drew You know, and you hold the cards, Theresa. You could say, hey, no more until you go and have the same look to him.
1:31:16 Nelly Furtado Right.
1:31:16 Drew He'll go. He'll go that afternoon.
1:31:17 Nelly Furtado He's a power woman.
1:31:19 Adam Yeah. He doesn't want to go. He's got to go.
1:31:22 Drew He's embarrassed, but it's all right. Just let someone look at him.
1:31:25 Adam He may have something that he's telling her about.
1:31:27 Drew I think it's just a mechanical thing, I bet you.
1:31:29 Adam She's just...
1:31:30 Drew He appears magically right afterwards. What the hell? And then goes away very quickly.
1:31:33 Adam Meaning, her technique has not been honed.
1:31:36 Drew Exactly.
1:31:37 Adam A little rough around the edges.
1:31:38 Drew Yeah, literally.
1:31:39 Adam Yeah. Drew, how long did it take you to learn to perform proper fellatio on a man? How many years? I mean, you've told me, you said high school, college, even then, you still considered yourself a greenhorn. Yeah.
1:31:51 Drew There was a graduate level study still yet to be done.
1:31:53 Nelly Furtado You're probably right, because he's new, she's new.
1:31:56 Adam Yeah. You gotta appreciate the enthusiasm, though. Stephanie?
1:32:01 Caller Yes?
1:32:01 Adam You're 27?
1:32:03 Caller Yes.
1:32:03 Adam What's up?
1:32:04 Caller Well, I called to say hello to Nelly and, hey, I'm sorry that Marge did on you backstage and you look, you seemed like you were having really fun time.
1:32:14 Nelly Furtado In Portland?
1:32:15 Adam Yeah.
1:32:15 Nelly Furtado Oh, you're the photographer.
1:32:17 Caller Stephanie.
1:32:18 Nelly Furtado Yeah. Oh, you're the one who takes photos, right?
1:32:20 Caller Yes.
1:32:21 Caller Oh, cool. You looked really nervous. You're like, how did she get backstage? Cool.
1:32:28 Nelly Furtado I'm glad you like the show.
1:32:29 Caller Yeah, it was wonderful. And you are so fortunate to have such a wonderful and adorable band.
1:32:34 Nelly Furtado Oh, thank you. You like the guys, eh?
1:32:37 Caller Yeah.
1:32:38 Nelly Furtado They're cuties.
1:32:39 Caller Yes.
1:32:40 Nelly Furtado I love them too.
1:32:41 Caller So my question is mainly for Dr. Drew. And well, a few years ago, I was working on a ship, a cruise ship, and I, well, it was it was OK for us to socialize with the passengers, but not fraternize. So naturally, that was incentive for me because I'm a rebel. And so there was this one guy, and he got me really drunk and took me to his room. And we did the nasty. And it was kind of against my will, but not really, because I was. What's the question?
1:33:20 Adam All right, screwball.
1:33:21 Caller Okay.
1:33:23 Adam We don't need every nuance of every goddamn experience you've ever had.
1:33:26 Caller All right. Sorry, Adam.
1:33:27 Adam Thank you.
1:33:28 Caller Go ahead. A few days later, a full-on gland appeared in my groin area. And I was just wondering if that was a symptom of any disease that you had.
1:33:43 Drew Yeah, many of them, in fact. Did you have any burning in the vagina?
1:33:47 Caller Any what?
1:33:47 Drew Burning? No. None?
1:33:49 Caller No, that was the only symptom.
1:33:51 Drew Did it go away?
1:33:52 Caller Yes.
1:33:53 Adam Was this guy a single on the cruise ship?
1:33:56 Caller Yes.
1:33:56 Adam Oh, man. I swear they always get laid, those guys.
1:34:00 Drew He was a passenger.
1:34:01 Caller He was hideous. He even stole my bracelet as a souvenir.
1:34:05 Drew He was a passenger?
1:34:06 Caller Yes.
1:34:07 Adam Nice. He was hideous?
1:34:09 Drew He was a hideous person.
1:34:11 Caller He was horrible.
1:34:12 Adam Why were you hanging out with him?
1:34:15 Caller I don't know.
1:34:15 Drew She's into hideous people. That's why she's a rebel. Something happened to her.
1:34:18 Adam I see. Does rebel mean you have to have sex with people you don't like?
1:34:22 Nelly Furtado Hey, she's into my CD. I'm not hideous.
1:34:25 Drew Stephanie, here's the deal. Very quickly, that's your body fighting off infection. Those are inguinal lymph nodes. It may just be inflammation from whatever you guys did. The most likely thing to cause inguinal swelling is herpes. Then there's something called lymphogranuloma. Venerium can do that and chancroid. Those are common illnesses. Chancroid is down in the tropics. So if your cruise was down in the tropics, I'd even be more concerned about chancroid.
1:34:45 Adam Where was the cruise, Stephanie?
1:34:47 Caller It was in the Caribbean.
1:34:49 Drew Yeah, chancroid is down there. So those are three things I'd be concerned with. You definitely should see a doctor about it.
1:34:54 Caller Okay. But I have seen a doctor since then. And I'm all clear for the normal.
1:34:59 Drew The herpes, you can't tell. Lymphogranuloma venerium requires certain blood titers. And the chancroid would not have gone away by itself.
1:35:06 Adam Chancroid was also the name of the reggae band who was playing the Lido deck over there.
1:35:11 Drew Yes, yes, chancroid. Chancroid.
1:35:14 Adam Chancroid. That's the name of the band.
1:35:16 Nelly Furtado It's a good name.
1:35:17 Adam Chancroid and the lesions. All right.
1:35:21 Nelly Furtado Call it something. Might as well call it chancroid.
1:35:23 Adam We will take ourselves a little break. Be back with more Nelly after this. Just to explain what Drew said, there was some kind of article that listed a couple of shows or a couple of people in Time magazine a few weeks back, and the Man Show was highlighted as one of those shows. What show to watch? No, more like some kind of trend in bad TV. Not bad TV, not just a trend in sort of reality-based, I don't know, bad boys. It was like a bad boy trend. I'm a bad boy. Hear that, ladies?
1:36:21 Caller Bad boys.
1:36:22 Adam Bad boy. I'll cut you.
1:36:24 Caller All right.
1:36:25 Adam Everyone go out and get themselves the Wonelly CD from Nelly Furtado. And Adam says, baby, you are a joy to be around. Thank you. You really are. You must be from somewhere.
1:36:38 Nelly Furtado You guys ain't too shabby either.
1:36:39 Adam I know you're from somewhere other than the United States because you got a great ad. Isn't she great? Yeah.
1:36:44 Drew She has to be from somewhere other than LA or California.
1:36:47 Nelly Furtado Bread and the International Flavor.
1:36:48 Adam Absolutely.
1:36:49 Caller All right.
1:36:50 Adam Thanks a lot for coming on.
1:36:51 Nelly Furtado Thanks for having me, guys.
1:36:53 Caller It's been a pleasure.
1:36:54 Adam Come back anytime you like.
1:36:55 Nelly Furtado Great service you offer here.
1:36:57 Adam Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. Tomorrow night and until next time, this is Adam Corolla for Dr. Drew saying mahalo. You're 70. You haven't gone down on a bitch yet.
