Voiceover
Listener discretion is advised. Adam Corolla and Dr. Drew Loveline, Coast to Coast.
1:13
Voiceover
Hey, everybody. It's Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla, it's Dr. Drew over there, phone number 1-800-LOVE-191. 311 is here. Nick Hexham and Peanut are both here from the band and the new CD from Chaos is out today, right?
1:30
311
Today is the day.
1:31
311
And applause, too. Thank you very much.
1:33
Adam
Five million records 311 has sold in the United States.
1:39
311
Smattering.
1:40
311
Thank you. Thank you.
1:42
Adam
Wow, that's a lot. That's how they get to drive those cars, Drew. They're going to be at the Weenie Roast coming up this Saturday. What is that, the 23rd or 22nd?
1:52
311
23rd.
1:52
Adam
23rd and starting the Warped Tour the day before. You guys, how many, are you guys all the way through the Warped Tour or are you just doing a leg?
2:02
311
Six weeks almost.
2:03
311
Yeah, I think it's just a leg when it comes down to it, technically, but we're doing about two thirds, a little more, but we're doing the majority of it.
2:09
Drew
I'm going to finally disclose my ignorance.
2:13
Adam
Yes.
2:13
Drew
What, who invented the Warped Tour? What does it stand for? Where did it start?
2:17
311
Well, there was Warped Magazine, I think, was involved in it for a while, and then it was the Vans Warped Tour.
2:22
Adam
Right.
2:22
Drew
And then it was just a concert promoter got together and put together a bunch of bands for a summer.
2:27
311
Well, it has skating and punk rock bands. It's just.
2:33
Drew
And how come they didn't go? How can people go on and off it? You know what I mean? Because it had so long or it's so.
2:39
311
Yeah, it just goes over the whole country. So some bands jump on for a little while and then jump off eventually.
2:44
Adam
It's kind of a nice concept and half the bands. I shouldn't say half the bands. One hundred and ten percent of the bands we've had in here over the last few weeks are doing one part or another of the Warped Tour, right?
2:56
Drew
Is it sort of the answer for the rest of the country that don't have big radio stations, big summer festivals kind of thing?
3:01
311
Yeah, it's one of the answers.
3:02
Drew
Yeah, OK, got it.
3:04
Adam
And yeah, I mean, it would kill you to do the entire Warped Tour.
3:08
Drew
Yeah.
3:08
Adam
I think especially with, you know, Pennywise.
3:12
311
Oh, Drew's favorite.
3:14
Adam
And all these other guys. Well, you know, to be fair to Pennywise.
3:18
Drew
They were perfect gentlemen last night.
3:19
Adam
Pennywise came in here last night.
3:21
Drew
They're growing up. No, I wouldn't go that far. But they were perfect gentlemen on the left.
3:25
Adam
I don't know. I said, and maybe this will get Fletcher to kick Drew's ass when he sees him on Saturday. But on the ride home, I said, I don't know. I think the guys are new and improved. Fletcher's a new man. And Drew said, no, still got the eye of a killer.
3:39
Drew
I can see it.
3:39
Adam
Like but on a bad day, like he was dormant, you know, like once in a while, great white shark doesn't attack.
3:45
Drew
It just got done eating a couple of I think I think it was I think it hurt Fletcher to keep himself contained in here. And it was painful for him. And he's mad now.
3:54
Adam
Drew, do you realize what a horrible attitude that is? What a horrible approach to life you have?
3:59
Drew
I think that's true. I think that's I think that's how I feel.
4:02
Adam
Fletcher's had some bad times here on this show. And consequently, you know, when Fletcher has a bad time, everybody in the United States has a bad time because he's far-reaching. And we had a bad time, too. But to be fair to them, they all came in here, Fletcher included, and everyone was a gentleman, and they made amends. All right, so let's talk about 311. We got all the Warp Tour, and then what else after that?
4:32
311
We're going to go to Europe for a couple weeks, and then we're going to do our own headlining tour. In the late summer, and we're just going to keep doing it for a long time. You know, we're going to support this album a long time, because we feel that we really outdid ourselves on this one. We just really got out, we just had a lot of ideas, and a lot of inspiration, and you know, when we had the big, the blue album, the third album that blew up, it was like we just had the feeling we can't control whether the media likes us or not, but what we can't control is we're going to stay out on the road until people get to hear this, and we've got that same feeling again now that we're just going to stay with it.
5:14
Adam
And do you have touring down now? I mean, it is like traveling in a sense that it takes you about, I don't know, you have to travel ten times to New York or something before you figure out what to pack, how to do it, who to tip, where to walk through the airport, what do you score, what parks are good, I mean, you know, that, I mean, what strip clubs are good. But do you have it down now?
5:36
311
Yeah, you got to learn to entertain yourself during the day, you know. Now we, like I bring a mobile studio so I can write songs and do remixes and, and you know, we've all got our little distractions, whether it's like exercising or, you know, computer stuff or whatever.
6:00
Adam
And do you have the buffed out tour bus and you go first class when you do all that good stuff? I don't want to ruin your image for all the poor listeners, but why ever?
6:09
311
We're all in one van. No, yeah, we do it up on the road just because we figure, you know, we'll just want to stay out there longer. Right.
6:17
311
Yeah, we do it all the time. Might as well.
6:20
Adam
All right. 311 here tonight. I'll give you some of the dates. You can find them on the Warp Tour and we'll also hear something from Chaos, which is the name of the new CD. Out today. We'll take some calls and then do the usual. Kevin?
6:35
How's it going, man?
6:36
Adam
Good. What's up?
6:37
Not too much. First of all, I'd like to say Adam and Drew, you guys rock.
6:42
Adam
Thanks.
6:43
Caller
311, you guys are the greatest band ever. I got all the keys. The Blue Album is definitely by far the best, but all of them are awesome. Yeah, question.
6:53
311
Thanks a lot.
6:54
Caller
I was just wondering how many times a day is too many? Masturbation there, Adam. I know that.
7:02
Drew
Careful now. You might offend the Adam here.
7:06
Adam
Well, what do you mean?
7:07
Drew
Well, if we start to argue about how many times a day is too much.
7:10
Adam
Well, are you asking me or are you asking...
7:11
Caller
Yeah, I'm asking you. I'm going a good four or five.
7:15
Adam
Yeah, that's a little light, but I'd like to see more.
7:19
311
That's before noon, right?
7:22
Adam
Yeah, I mean, once you guys break for summer, have you broken for summer yet at school?
7:26
Just graduated, man.
7:27
Adam
All right, so I'd like to see that step up, just a couple. That's fine, you're 17. Do you have a job?
7:34
Caller
Yeah.
7:35
Adam
What do you do for a theme? You work the same theme over and over again? How does that work?
7:41
Caller
Same theme?
7:42
Adam
Yeah, masturbatory theme.
7:43
Drew
Is it a different fantasy or a different lubricant?
7:46
Caller
It's just to get it all. It doesn't really matter.
7:50
Drew
Yeah, it's like anime. What's your theme when you pee?
7:54
Adam
Asparagus. Usually is my theme.
7:57
Drew
Kevin, is there a reason you'd be a sexual compulsive?
7:59
Adam
A theme from mahogany sometimes.
8:01
Caller
No, not really.
8:02
Drew
Were you sexually abused or anything growing up?
8:04
Caller
No, no. Just a 17, 18 year old guy.
8:07
Drew
Yeah, alright.
8:08
Caller
That's about normal.
8:09
Adam
Hey Kevin, do you have a girlfriend?
8:12
Caller
Huh? Not right now.
8:13
Adam
Shocking. Listen, you gotta understand.
8:16
Drew
He's not a virgin though.
8:18
Caller
What's that?
8:19
Drew
Listen to the voice.
8:20
Adam
No, you're not a virgin, are you Kevin?
8:22
Caller
No.
8:23
311
But you can really tell?
8:24
Drew
Yeah.
8:24
Adam
Yeah, he's got that voice.
8:27
Caller
Hey boy, before you guys get rid of me, I'm 311. Why are you guys heading over to the DC area?
8:31
311
You know, we're dropping off the Warp Tour right before we get to DC, so we're definitely going to make that up at the beginning of our next tour. Virginia. You can drive down to Virginia. That's close, right?
8:42
Caller
Yeah, that's no problem. Yeah, I heard the Warp Tour you guys were doing. Yeah, you guys are doing the Warp Tour in Virginia?
8:49
311
I believe so. Yeah, it's a drive away, for sure. It wouldn't be too far for you to go.
8:55
Adam
All right. You can beat off on the way over to Virginia, right?
8:58
Drew
Three times.
8:59
Adam
You ever do the car? You ever do the car one, Kevin? All the time.
9:03
Drew
All the way to work.
9:03
Adam
Right.
9:04
Drew
Good times.
9:04
Adam
Great. I'm just worried that he'll sort of lose his motivation, and it does take a certain amount of semen to get you out of the house, get you to the job, get you to meet women.
9:15
311
I mean, you're totally depleted.
9:17
Adam
It's hard to motivate.
9:18
311
Right. If you stop masturbating, you'd probably just find the motivation to go out and get a girlfriend, maybe.
9:23
Adam
Right. There's an element.
9:24
Drew
If he stopped masturbating, we'd have to hospitalize him.
9:27
311
He'd blow up.
9:28
Adam
Right. Then he'd begin raping. Ryan?
9:31
Caller
Yeah.
9:32
Adam
You're 21?
9:33
Caller
What's up, Adam?
9:34
Adam
What's up?
9:34
Caller
What's up, Drew?
9:35
Adam
Hey, Ryan.
9:36
Caller
311, I just want to say that you guys pretty much got me into music back when I was first listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ravana and 311. And we live in Boise, Idaho, and we don't get to see you guys too much just because it's a small town.
9:50
311
But we're coming your way.
9:51
Caller
I know you are, and I'll be there. We pretty much cruise out every time you guys come anywhere close. And Peanut Man, are you there?
9:59
311
Yes, that's me.
10:00
Caller
We always roll a J for you.
10:01
311
That's right.
10:02
Caller
We always try to nail you in the forehead every time we're in that crowd, and I always miss you, man.
10:05
Caller
I've wasted probably four big ass joints on you.
10:08
311
There you go. You'll hit me that way.
10:10
311
I'll nail you.
10:12
311
Thanks. I'll wear headgear.
10:14
Caller
But Drew, I got a question actually for Drew and Adam.
10:17
Caller
Alright, go.
10:19
Caller
About a week ago, we were partying, and it got to be really late, about four o'clock in the morning, and this girl did a strip show for me and my friends. And then she went into the back room with one of my buddies, and they called me in there. And so I went back there and loaded and not thinking right. And while he was on one end, I got on the other end, and I started noticing a really bad stench. And I just went with it. And then probably a couple of days later, I started developing a rash down in my genital area.
10:48
Adam
Which end were you on though?
10:49
Caller
I was in the back end.
10:52
Adam
Right.
10:53
Drew
Wait a minute.
10:54
Adam
Well, wait a minute. You don't mean back. You don't mean.
10:56
Drew
Back end, back end.
10:58
Caller
I mean, I was.
10:59
Adam
Right. He was getting a BJ.
11:01
Caller
Yeah.
11:02
Adam
And so you just came in the back way.
11:04
Caller
Yeah.
11:04
Adam
But not the back side.
11:06
Caller
Right.
11:06
Adam
Got it.
11:08
Caller
Right.
11:08
Adam
Now, what was so you notice the smell?
11:10
Caller
Yeah, I noticed the stench.
11:12
Drew
Well, the smell is usually trichomonas, and that's that's not a big deal. But you that's something you may need to be treated for. But the rash is a painful rash.
11:20
Caller
I mean, it itches.
11:21
Drew
That's usually herpes still proven otherwise.
11:23
Caller
I don't know.
11:25
Adam
Watch the S word there, Ryan.
11:27
Caller
Please.
11:27
Drew
So you got it. You need somebody to look at that rash while you have the rash. It's important because that kind of, you know, you can't make any diagnosis unless you can actually look at the rash.
11:36
Adam
Drew, what about taking a picture of whatever rash you have in hand?
11:40
Drew
That's the next best thing.
11:41
Adam
Isn't it?
11:41
Drew
Yeah.
11:42
Adam
What's wrong with that?
11:43
Drew
The age of digital cameras, you could put it on the web.
11:45
311
Email it to Adam.
11:47
Adam
Yeah.
11:48
Drew
That's an interesting idea. That's how we should overcome my problem with these people asking questions. They should take a digital picture, email it to us.
11:56
Adam
Drew, let me explain something. We can't get paper for the goddamn fax machine. Do you really think you're going to pull this off?
12:05
Drew
But this is a plan, isn't it?
12:06
Adam
It's a fine hypothetical plan.
12:08
311
It's good you're trying to work out your own problems.
12:11
Drew
No, no. To help the needy with the digital cameras.
12:16
311
He's got a fixation on bloated peanuts.
12:19
Caller
You just want to help.
12:20
Drew
No, no.
12:20
311
Yeah.
12:21
Drew
We just get loads of questions about rashes. They're like, well, it's a rash. I'm like, oh, okay.
12:27
311
I've had it for two weeks. Haven't you seen it yet?
12:28
311
A rash by any other name.
12:30
Drew
It still smells sweet.
12:32
311
Is there another more common name for this first thing that you mentioned, the smell with the fancy name?
12:37
Drew
Trickomonas. Trick. People call it trick. That's a real common STD. It doesn't have any consequence, just a bad smell.
12:43
Adam
Can it be passed to a guy?
12:44
Drew
Yes. Guys get no feeling of that, though. They'll just pass it on to a girl.
12:48
Adam
So it just sort of hangs around and they just pass it on?
12:50
311
It's how we live with ourselves.
12:51
Drew
It's a protozoan. Emily.
12:55
Yeah.
12:56
Adam
You're 22.
12:56
Drew
You're feeding the kitty? You cat okay?
12:59
Yeah.
13:00
Adam
What's up?
13:02
Can I say a couple of things before my question?
13:04
Adam
Hurry.
13:05
Okay. I just want to say 311, your album is sheer bliss.
13:10
311
Thank you.
13:11
It's awesome. Blows my mind, all yours too. They're all great. Anyways, I'll get to my question. I have tons of guys stare at me and they get hurt because of it. A while ago, a guy...
13:25
Caller
Wait, what?
13:26
Adam
They get hurt?
13:27
Drew
It's like some out of a Jerry Lewis movie.
13:29
Adam
Are they walking into...
13:30
311
So good looking, they get hurt.
13:32
Adam
They walk into lamp holes?
13:33
I was driving and this one guy got in a really bad accident and I called the cops and ambulance and stuff, but he's really hurt, you know.
13:42
Adam
Okay, but listen, that could have happened to anybody.
13:45
Well, no, like everywhere I go, there's like guys trying to buy me stuff.
13:50
Drew
All right, we're on the radio, so help us understand what's going on here.
13:53
Well, this guy like...
13:55
Drew
No, no, no, you tell us what's going on here. What's going on?
13:59
I just don't want people to get hurt because there's been like five different times that people have gotten hurt and I'm trying to... I don't know what to avoid it, I know.
14:07
Adam
All right, the only thing you can do is because I've injured a lot of people with my beauty and I know what a burden it is.
14:13
311
It's a cross.
14:14
Adam
That's beautiful people have to wear. It's tough, not to mention the gays. I've killed many gays. Miata's wrapped around telephone poles. You're gonna have to injure yourself in an industrial type accident.
14:28
Drew
Of course, she could come to Los Angeles, no one would notice her.
14:31
Adam
You're calling from Kentucky?
14:33
Yes.
14:33
Adam
Well, how are you injuring people? Is it your beauty?
14:37
Well, people look at me and I get hurt, like get an accident.
14:40
Drew
Hey, Emily, we can't see you, so you gotta help us out here and be honest. Are you freakishly unusual looking?
14:47
I'm a regular brown haired, blue eyed, regular proportional body. I don't know what the deal is. Like people come and they look over at me while they're driving or...
14:59
311
This would be a time to send a picture like you're saying.
15:01
Drew
Email, email.
15:03
Yeah.
15:05
Drew
Do we have an email address?
15:06
Adam
No.
15:07
Drew
We don't have an email address.
15:08
Adam
No.
15:08
Drew
How bizarre is that?
15:09
Adam
All right. Drew, what do you want?
15:12
I mean, I've done like a little bit of modeling and stuff, but I mean, still the agents didn't notice me, but like all the guys around here sit here and like...
15:20
Adam
All right. Emily, we understand. What's the real problem? What's up with you? Are you retarded? What's up with you? You're scared? Oh, please.
15:33
I feel really bad.
15:34
Adam
You know what this is? It's the female version of male call. Yes, I can't ride a bicycle. My Johnson is so big, I cannot ride a bicycle. What should I do?
15:43
311
I'm so good at basketball.
15:45
311
My wallet is too fat.
15:47
Adam
Right. My eyes are so blue. I hypnotize people.
15:51
Drew
Men stare. Men can't help themselves. They do. That's part of the male biology.
15:57
Adam
I'm going to stare at this chick's boobs.
16:00
Drew
That's part of what they look at. That disturbs women even more. But they'll sort of fetishize parts of women's body. Then they look. They stare. And it's their own problem. If they stare while they're driving, it's not your fault. They're just going about your business.
16:11
Adam
Emily, here's the way to cool these guys down. Start talking to them. I guarantee that'll slow them down. Whatever erection they had will immediately go up their own ass.
16:21
Caller
I'm nervous because I'm just in here with 311 and you guys.
16:25
Adam
It's a burden. I understand.
16:27
Drew
This is Adam's burden.
16:28
Adam
Don't go out during daytime hours. I think that's only logical.
16:33
Drew
Do you dress provocatively?
16:34
Caller
No. I wear jeans and t-shirts.
16:37
311
Do you own a veil?
16:38
Drew
By the way, do you have a t-shirt?
16:40
Adam
That could be provocative. How about a ski mask?
16:43
Drew
Put a flannel shirt on.
16:44
311
What city is it in Kentucky?
16:46
Drew
Lexington.
16:47
311
Lexington.
16:48
311
That's where you were born there?
16:49
311
That's where Chad was born.
16:50
Drew
Really? That's where Adam's favorite airport is.
16:53
Adam
Yeah. The one that's really in Cincinnati.
16:55
Drew
When we drove to Cincinnati. That's when we started yelling at me that everything was my fault.
17:00
311
Yeah.
17:01
Adam
It was your fault. We had no business going to Kentucky. Jesus Christ.
17:06
311
I say just wave as you're walking and mind your own business.
17:10
Adam
If she was serious, she seriously has a problem. I mean, come on. A radio show asking why you caused an accident.
17:17
Drew
Maybe some people blossom late in life. Maybe she really doesn't think of herself that way. All of a sudden she...
17:23
Adam
Listen, I hate her. I don't want to talk about her anymore. Layla.
17:29
311
We don't hate you.
17:30
Adam
We do. Yes, 311 hates us.
17:31
311
No, we don't.
17:32
Adam
Layla, you're 15.
17:34
Caller
Yeah. Hey, Adam. Hey. What's up, Nick and Peanut? You guys rule.
17:40
311
Thanks.
17:40
Caller
I got you a new CD today and it kicked ass.
17:42
311
Thanks.
17:43
Caller
311 is the best band in the world. I love you guys. I hope you're making music forever. And good luck on the Warped Tour. Okay.
17:50
Thanks.
17:51
311
Is that it?
17:51
311
You're sweet.
17:52
311
Thanks, thanks, thanks.
17:53
Caller
I have a question, too. Okay. My question is, you know the enlarged show Detail 2?
17:58
311
Yep.
17:59
Caller
Well, I want to know how it's going to be different from the first one and what kind of stuff is going to be on it.
18:04
311
Well, if you have the new CD, you can put it in a computer and see the trailer that there's some highlights from that. There's backstage things and we're going to go back further from before the last home video and also obviously newer stuff and new live stuff. It's going to be on DVD, so there's going to be remixes and B-sides and it's just going to be like all kinds of stuff for the 311 enthusiast.
18:31
Caller
Cool.
18:32
Adam
All right, so if you put this CD in your computer, it'll do something.
18:35
311
Yes, like a miniature website basically that's only available on the CD where there's interviews with the band and previews of the home video that's going to come out.
18:45
Adam
Are other people doing that?
18:47
311
Some but we're really into that kind of stuff.
18:50
Adam
Drew, we've had a lot of bands in here have been pushing CDs lately. Have you heard anything about this?
18:55
Drew
No.
18:56
Adam
Did you know about this?
18:57
Drew
Nope.
18:58
311
We're cutting edge baby.
18:59
Adam
Yeah. That's pretty impressive. I'm never going to do it because I really don't know what to do with the computers, Drew will attest to, but I will listen to the CD in the traditional way.
19:09
311
It'll just make a little icon on your screen and you just double click it and it'll just open up.
19:14
Adam
I don't know what this screen is.
19:15
311
Just like you said it'll blossom later in life.
19:17
What's clicking?
19:17
Drew
Marissa?
19:18
Yeah?
19:19
Drew
What's going on? She's 18.
19:22
Well, when I mastered it, I mastered it strictly through clitoral stimulation and I was wondering if I'd be able to have an orgasm ever through vaginal stimulation like having sex.
19:34
Drew
It's hard to say. It's a good question. If a woman can masturbate just with manual stimulation of the clitoris, does that predict anything about her ability to have orgasm during vaginal intercourse?
19:45
Adam
Well, you mean does it affect it?
19:47
Drew
No, no. Does it predict anything? In other words, does that mean she just will be needing direct stimulation?
19:52
Adam
Well, but she hasn't tried vaginal stimulation per hand.
19:55
Caller
Well, I did once.
19:56
Caller
You did?
19:56
I did once, but I didn't orgasm.
19:58
Adam
How did you provide that stimulation?
20:01
Well, I mean I had sex once.
20:02
Adam
Oh, one time?
20:04
Caller
Yeah.
20:05
Drew
Did he give oral sex to you?
20:07
Yeah.
20:07
Drew
And did that work?
20:08
Yes.
20:09
Drew
Okay, so she's going to be one of those.
20:11
Adam
Well, she's 18. How many women?
20:12
Drew
That's good at 18, right?
20:14
Adam
You're ahead of the game.
20:15
Drew
You're ahead of the game. You're ahead of the game.
20:17
Adam
Whatever game. What game is that again?
20:18
Drew
The orgasm game.
20:19
Adam
I see. I got to get that. Who does that? Hasbro, Parker Brothers?
20:23
Drew
Parker Brothers.
20:24
Adam
Parker Brothers, right.
20:25
Drew
This is a monopoly board like thing. Imagine the little figures.
20:30
Adam
All right.
20:30
Drew
So the fact that you're able to do this is good. You're ahead of your peers. The fact that you can even have orgasm at all in a physical interaction is ahead of your peers actually. Whether or not you will or will ever have orgasm during intercourse remains to be seen. Many women don't.
20:46
Adam
But the fact that she only has had sex one time.
20:49
Drew
Doesn't predict anything.
20:50
Adam
Does not because I'm sure the guy was just some kind of drunken load, right?
20:54
Yeah, pretty much.
20:55
Adam
He didn't do anything right, did he?
20:57
Not really.
20:58
Adam
No. So you got to get with a guy who knows what he's doing.
21:01
Drew
Guy like Adam.
21:02
Adam
Guy like me when I was in my late teens, early 20s. One day the ghost of Adam will give you a good working over. The ghost of Adam passed and you'll be brought right to orgasm. You know my problem really, I got to be honest, sexually is motivation.
21:20
Drew
You don't care.
21:21
Adam
I can do a good job. It's just like work. It's just like everything with me now. I could do a good job on this radio show. I could do a good job sexually. Why bother? You know, that's the way I look at it. I'm tired.
21:32
311
Revolution of lowered expectations.
21:34
Adam
Right, right.
21:35
311
Watch out for that.
21:36
Adam
Right. I'm going to ramp everything down just a little bit. Right, the curve. Yeah, and it works. It really does because like I wear, I wear to work. I go to the man show every day. I wear sweatpants, no socks, some flip-flops, and like a band t-shirt, right?
21:50
Drew
That's dressed up.
21:52
Adam
No, that's my everyday attire. But the one day I put on a pair of jeans, people are like, hey, there's a buzz.
21:57
311
Ooh la la.
21:58
Adam
Where's he going?
21:59
311
Mr. Frenchman.
22:00
Adam
Yeah. I'm like Aldo Shelley rolling through there. Yeah. They're like, hey, you got a date? You got a business thing? Where are you going to the Oscars?
22:07
311
Smokey Robinson is here. What are those, Levi's?
22:09
Adam
Yeah. It's a big deal. Now, every other guy there is wearing jeans, but I have lowered the expectations sufficiently so that nothing seems like something. I suggest you all do the same.
22:23
Drew
Nice.
22:23
Adam
Start getting Ds and Fs, okay? You come home with a C, your parents will be elated. You understand? Right, Drew?
22:30
Drew
Good times.
22:31
Caller
All right.
22:32
Adam
311 is here. From Chaos is the name of the new CD. We'll hear something off of that when we come back.
22:40
Caller
Loveline. We'll be right back.
23:17
Adam
Hey, everybody, it's Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla, that's Dr. Drew, Peanut, Nick Hexham, we're both here from 311. We'll hear something off the new CD from Chaos, which is out today. You can find 311 on the Warped Tour, and then their own tour, and that's just going, basically, if you're somewhere in the United States, they'll come somewhere near you in the next three to four months. Would that be safe to say?
23:42
311
I'll agree, very safe.
23:43
Adam
And also at the Fantabulous Weenie Roast, which is going on the 22nd, which I don't even know why we 23rd. I don't even know why we bothered talking about it.
23:53
311
Two shows.
23:54
Adam
The tickets are already gone, right?
23:55
Drew
It's a promotional opportunity.
23:57
Adam
Do you have everyone and their brother crawling up your Tokai to get tickets?
24:02
Drew
This year, worse than a lot of years.
24:05
Adam
Yeah. You know, my problem is, too, is people come up. You see, Drew and I hail from the Los Angeles area, so we have a lot of deadbeat old friends. And they all come to us for these tickets, and they act as if K-Rock backs a flatbed up, drops off several thousand tickets, and then we just sit on a big pile of it laughing, like King Midas, you know?
24:26
Drew
Throwing them out to people.
24:27
Adam
Deciding, who's worthy? Who's worthy? Yeah, the guy who drops the mail off, he gets some.
24:31
Drew
Worthy!
24:32
Adam
Sparklet's guy gets a handful.
24:33
Drew
Worthy!
24:34
Adam
That's right. That's right. The meter made, not worthy.
24:39
Drew
Garbage man, no!
24:41
Adam
That rally is, we have to pay for them and we don't get that many of them. And I have everybody hitting me up and driving me insane. And then, you know, I forget the people that ask.
24:50
Drew
Right, me too.
24:51
Adam
And it gets a little brutal. And then it becomes weird because it's a charity and we get charged for them. So you try to get as many tickets as you can and you end up spending five, 600 bucks for tickets. And now you're giving them out two at a time to a bunch of people you work with and know and friends of friends. And you seem like a world-class dick when you're like that'll be 80 bucks.
25:16
311
How much money actually goes to charity? Let's get this out on the record.
25:20
Adam
Zero. I'm guessing zero. By the time the fat cats are done buying blow, I'd say zero.
25:27
311
Because you know K-Rock is so powerful that they don't pay the bands. And that's just like, I want to know that at least somebody is a charity.
25:35
Drew
It's a must go to charity then. You guys don't get paid.
25:39
Adam
We don't get paid.
25:40
311
We got ten tickets.
25:41
Adam
Nobody gets paid.
25:42
Drew
We don't get any tickets.
25:43
311
That's forming Union. That's four first.
25:46
Adam
Right.
25:47
311
We're getting kicked off.
25:48
Drew
This is good. It all goes to charity then.
25:50
Adam
I say we get nude, we write like soy bomb on our chest and just run across the stage for the entire show. Yeah. There's a timely reference. All right. Well, somebody is getting it. I don't even know who gets the money. Is it like Surf Rider or something like that?
26:04
Drew
Who's the charity this year, Ann? Should know.
26:06
Caller
All right.
26:07
Drew
Jeebus.
26:08
Caller
All right.
26:09
Adam
I don't know who gets the money. Somebody gets the money and theoretically, there's some money left over. Now, what about you guys though? Who pays for the expenses? I mean, the semi trucks and the buses and all that business. You're not going into your pocket for it, are you?
26:23
311
Probably be the label.
26:24
Adam
Really? Wow. What a racket. This is great. Okay. When are we getting fired again, Drew?
26:30
311
Learn something every day.
26:31
311
What a racket.
26:32
Adam
Buddy? You're 19.
26:35
Caller
Yes, I am.
26:35
Adam
What's up?
26:36
Caller
Oh, I just, Adam, you kick ass.
26:41
Adam
Well, thanks there, buddy boy.
26:43
Caller
I have a question for Nick and Peanut.
26:46
Adam
Here they are.
26:47
311
Lay it on us.
26:48
Caller
Hey, what inspired you guys to write random?
26:52
311
Hey, that's not just an idle question, is it?
26:56
311
Well, the point of it is that there's just a lot of random thoughts and then it's just, you know, me and Essay's raps are about a bunch of different things and so nothing, nothing inspired us.
27:10
Drew
Just random.
27:12
Adam
Just random.
27:12
311
That's the point of it.
27:13
Adam
All right, buddy.
27:14
311
Dealing with that inner chatter.
27:16
Caller
Nick.
27:17
311
There you go. Yo, yo.
27:19
Caller
Nick.
27:19
311
Yeah.
27:20
Caller
I was listening to Beautiful Disaster on the radio the other day. How come Essay is not rapping with you? That's the only phone that I noticed that he's not rapping with you on there.
27:31
311
I don't know. I just that song came out in Stream of Consciousness and it was more of a reggae song. But no real reason. Maybe we'll do a remix just for you that has a rap.
27:43
Adam
You know what I've learned about most questions about most songs and the inspiration behind them?
27:48
Drew
No answer.
27:49
Adam
Never an answer. No critique on the band. But I mean just all the people who think there is a deep powerful message.
27:57
Drew
A story.
27:58
Adam
A life experience.
27:59
311
One in a hundred.
28:00
Drew
No. We never had it.
28:01
Adam
We had.
28:03
311
There are some you are just not asking about the right songs.
28:05
Adam
We had Ben Folds come on this show and talk about Brick or one of his songs where he was saying it was about his girlfriend getting an abortion and if you listen. Was that Ben Folds? Who the hell was that, Ann?
28:21
311
They're nodding yes.
28:22
Adam
Came in here, was talking about his girlfriend who got an abortion. If you listen to the song, you can hear it all sort of laid out about him waiting in the car and them crying and everything and that so far has been the only satisfactory song inspiration. Again, not a critique of the band but I just think you guys write songs. You don't sit around and wait for someone to get an abortion. You got music to make.
28:47
311
We get inspired by simpler things perhaps and just having fun, creating with the same group of people.
28:52
Adam
There doesn't have to be tragedy behind everything.
28:54
311
No.
28:55
Adam
Adam?
28:55
Yeah.
28:56
Adam
You're 14?
28:57
Caller
Yeah.
28:57
Adam
What's up?
28:59
Caller
Well, I have known this girl for about 10 years now. We at one time were just good friends and now we're like best friends. But I've grown a lot closer to her than people would think. Right. I like her a whole lot more than just friends.
29:23
Drew
Does she know that?
29:24
Caller
Yes, she does. She...
29:27
Drew
Are you boyfriend or girlfriend?
29:29
Caller
No. That's what I'm trying to figure out. What should I do?
29:32
Adam
Well, how did she find out you like her more than friends?
29:35
Caller
Actually, I admitted it to her.
29:36
Drew
And what did she say to that?
29:38
Caller
She didn't really say anything. She was kind of shocked. We had tried going out one time, but we had broken it off because of commotion between other people. And recently she had a boyfriend. And he made me like jealous.
30:00
Drew
Adam, you've got to come to terms with the fact that she doesn't have boyfriend feelings for you. This will not be the first time this has happened.
30:08
Caller
She hasn't actually...
30:10
Drew
When it came time for her to get a boyfriend, she had no trouble doing that.
30:16
Caller
Well, actually, after we broke up, it was about three months before she had another boyfriend.
30:22
Adam
That's right. And when you say broke up, you never really went out, though, did you?
30:27
Caller
Once, but that's it.
30:29
Adam
That ain't breaking up. That's not going out a second time. Hold on a second, Ann. We have to talk about you behind your back, even though you can hear us.
30:37
Caller
Okay.
30:38
Adam
You know, it's funny. It's something that took me a while to figure out as a youth myself, which is, here you are dying to be with somebody. This somebody, somebody who lives down the street and you see at school every day, why aren't you with them? Well, the answer is they don't want to be with you. Now, of course, when you confront them, they give you every other answer than that because they don't want to be cruel. It's not the right time, we're too good a friend.
31:04
Drew
And somehow the perception of the male is that I didn't make the right move at the right time.
31:10
Adam
Right.
31:10
Drew
As opposed to, hey, if she were interested, she'd be making it easy for you.
31:14
311
Right. Oh, yes. Probably just comes down to chemistry.
31:16
Adam
It's hard to see, though.
31:16
311
You just gotta move on.
31:18
Adam
I never scored myself, but I know those who have scored. I've had friends who have scored, and I saw how easy it was for them. This was not trigonometry. It was very easy.
31:29
Drew
And here's even more reality. Adam is you and I at 14.
31:33
Adam
Yes. As easy as you make it for them, as easy as they would make it for you if they were as interested.
31:40
Drew
If they were super-candid, you're feeling it.
31:42
Adam
And the thing about poor Adam here is Adam looks at it as, you know, cosmically before the lighting. During the time, it wasn't right. No, she's not into you that way, Adam.
31:52
Caller
I understand. I understand.
31:53
Adam
All right.
31:54
Caller
You guys are pretty much right.
31:56
Adam
Right. Well, you know that on some level.
31:59
Caller
I'm pretty much not shocked that she doesn't feel the same way. I'm not very popular with the ladies. No. Don't give me that crap.
32:08
Adam
Well, listen.
32:09
Caller
I've heard it from enough women, and I don't need depression from two guys. They're going to end up turning it around and kicking my ass.
32:17
Adam
Oh, no. Listen.
32:18
311
No.
32:19
Drew
We're trying to build you up.
32:20
Adam
No, we're not.
32:21
311
You're young, man.
32:22
Caller
Yeah.
32:22
Caller
I know.
32:23
311
You just got to...
32:24
Caller
I'm just going into high school, and it'll come eventually.
32:28
Caller
Yeah.
32:28
311
There you go.
32:28
Adam
That's right. After you pass your law degree, get that law degree, you'll be fine.
32:34
311
Your voice drops down a little.
32:36
Caller
Right.
32:36
Adam
Move to Hollywood. Get some hair plugs.
32:38
Drew
But do you have any advice that you wish you'd have when you were 14?
32:42
Adam
Kill myself.
32:42
Drew
What was it?
32:43
Adam
I forget. I think that would have been it.
32:45
Drew
I think it was on the order of everything.
32:46
311
Feels like that when you're 14.
32:48
Caller
Yeah. I've had that thought once.
32:50
Drew
But accepting things.
32:51
Caller
My life getting so tough.
32:53
Adam
No, no, no. Listen, Adam. Adam, I don't mean to depress you.
32:55
Caller
It wasn't worth it though.
32:57
Adam
Listen, listen. Here's what you do. You need to spend your energy with women who are interested in you. They're out there. You may not know them right now, but they do exist, OK? But you can't spend all your time and all your energy with somebody who is just not interested.
33:15
Drew
That's the thing we needed to know when we were 15. It's something in the order of let it go.
33:19
Adam
Yeah, just let it go and go to the next one.
33:22
Caller
That's pretty hard for me.
33:23
Drew
Yeah, it's hard.
33:23
Adam
It's hard for everybody.
33:24
311
And work on yourself because, you know, girls are attracted to someone that's got something going on, whether it's like sports or any whatever.
33:31
Adam
Start a band, get a Mercedes.
33:33
311
Yeah.
33:34
Adam
All right.
33:34
Caller
A Mercedes is good enough for me.
33:36
Caller
All right.
33:37
Adam
Get a Ferrari and forget about the band.
33:39
311
And just drive around smiling.
33:41
Adam
Right.
33:42
Caller
All right.
33:43
Adam
All right. Get a Ferrari and like a percussion section. All right. Nice compromise. You'll be fine, Adam.
33:50
Caller
I will.
33:50
Drew
All right.
33:50
Adam
Don't obsess though.
33:52
Caller
You guys kick ass.
33:52
Drew
Thank you.
33:53
Adam
Thank you. Take care.
33:54
Caller
All right. Later. All right.
33:56
Adam
I don't know what it is that young males have with that sort of obsession. Yeah. And it's a delusional obsession too. Yes. Yes, it is. There's a lot of BS that keeps the dream alive.
34:06
Drew
It's disordered thinking.
34:07
Adam
Yeah.
34:08
311
Was that we kick ass or you kick ass?
34:10
Adam
I don't know. I think it was you guys. I just took credit for it.
34:12
311
It's cool that it's at least equal.
34:15
311
He picked up our compliment.
34:17
Adam
Who kicks ass?
34:19
Caller
Mostly you, but Dr. Drew is pretty cool.
34:22
311
Not even the band.
34:23
Drew
What about 311? Adam?
34:25
Caller
I like 311. They're really good. I haven't gotten a chance to get their new album yet though.
34:30
Adam
All right.
34:31
311
You've had all of one day though.
34:33
Adam
You go get the new album and everything will become crystal clear. All right. All right. Take care of yourself.
34:39
311
Bye.
34:40
Adam
I don't know if I picked that one off. I think that may have been heading toward me, fellas.
34:44
311
It's to you.
34:45
Adam
Yeah. Not a great strategy going back to decipher that.
34:48
311
Good for you.
34:49
Adam
No, for me it was great.
34:51
311
We went to the instant replay. Sarah?
34:54
Drew
Yes. What's going on?
34:56
Caller
Hi.
34:56
Adam
Hey, you're 26. You're on with 311.
34:58
Caller
All of the band and to Dr. Drew and Adam.
35:01
Adam
Hey.
35:02
Caller
Hey, Sarah. Long time listener, first time caller. Is that how it goes? Yeah.
35:05
Adam
Hey.
35:06
Caller
Hey, I had a question for Adam and for Drew. Can I do too, please?
35:10
Adam
Yeah, go. Hurry.
35:11
Caller
Right on. Adam, how was it working with Dr., I mean, Snoop Doggy Dogg with that episode on the Man Show?
35:17
Adam
Yeah, he was a gentleman. Do you remember it? No, not really. We went to Snoop's house and got baked with him. Yeah. Well, here's what happened. We were trying to do a regular bit, like a tour of Snoop Dogg's house, and he was smoking so much spleef during the course of us trying to shoot this bit that eventually, I just said to Jimmy, look, let's get baked too and we'll see where this thing goes. We ended up doing a bit where we just stumbled around Snoop's house.
35:46
Drew
You guys were so high.
35:47
Adam
High, so high. Then after we got stoned, the whole bit just turned into Jimmy eating and me laughing. Jimmy was in his fridge like spraying a cool whip in his mouth and I was laughing. He brought Snoop a big bag of muffins at the beginning. He said his bitches baked it for him or something. Then he ended up eating the whole thing of muffins. So it was fun. Snoop was nice. It's a nice house. I don't remember anything else.
36:15
That's my main mayonnaise.
36:17
Adam
That's what he calls me mayonnaise. That's my ramp name.
36:20
Drew
What's your other question?
36:21
Caller
My other question is for Dr. Drew. I'm on Zoloft and I was wondering, one of my doctors said, oh yeah, you'll probably be on antidepressants for quite a while because I don't do treatment or anything. They were saying that if I ever happen to get pregnant and stop taking Zoloft, that could change my hormones and then I might not have to take antidepressants after. Does that make sense?
36:45
Drew
Well you definitely don't want to take them during your pregnancy.
36:47
Caller
Oh yeah, I'm just saying like could your hormones change so much during a pregnancy that you would not need to take antidepressants again?
36:56
Drew
No, that's not likely. I don't know of any evidence that pregnancy somehow remits recurrent depression or dyslivia. No, I've never heard that. In fact, often it gets worse afterwards.
37:06
Adam
Yeah, you get crazier.
37:08
Caller
Are you really being serious?
37:09
Drew
No, it gets worse afterwards. A postpartum depression is very, very common.
37:14
Adam
Well, pregnancy is like a woman. All the worst traits are ones like a woman and a half, two women stuffed into the same woman, right? That's a disaster.
37:23
Drew
It's a woman squared.
37:24
311
Big long PMS.
37:25
Caller
That's right.
37:26
Caller
Yeah, kind of, and it does after. Hey, thanks so much for taking my call.
37:29
Drew
All right, Sarah, take care.
37:30
Caller
You guys rock.
37:30
Caller
All right.
37:31
Adam
Wait, who rocks? 311?
37:33
311
No, it's you guys. Your show. We're just visiting.
37:37
Drew
Sorry, on your Zoloft, you're going to have no libido, so you're not going to get pregnant. So just keep that in mind.
37:41
Adam
Well, that's not rule out rape.
37:43
Caller
I do have vibrators. That's a good thing. That's right.
37:46
Drew
Good times.
37:47
Adam
You can dip that in some semen and maybe get pregnant.
37:51
Caller
Yeah, good time.
37:51
Adam
All right, baby. Have fun there, Jolly. All right. She didn't sound that depressed, did she?
37:58
Drew
No, no.
37:59
Adam
All right. 311 is here. The very cool 311.
38:06
311
Thank you.
38:07
Adam
We will hear something off the new CD, I promise, the second we return.
38:13
1-800-LOVE-191.
38:14
311
We'll be right back.
38:43
Hi, this is Billy from Green Day, and you're listening to Loveline.
38:49
Adam
Hey, everybody. It's Loveline. Peanut and Nick Hexham are both here from 311.
38:54
311
And we just learned that all the money goes to charity. We just want to give K-Rock props for that.
38:59
Adam
That's right.
38:59
Drew
Duac Orange County, Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Foundation, Heal the Bay, and Surf Rider Foundation.
39:05
Adam
Right. What is the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Foundation? Don't know?
39:10
311
I wouldn't know.
39:12
Adam
You think it's an offshore count that Kevin Wetherly and Tripp Reeb whipped up or?
39:16
Drew
Yeah.
39:17
Adam
I think it's an actual.
39:17
Drew
Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Bahamas. There you are.
39:21
All right.
39:22
Adam
All right. Anyway, you can find 311 at the famous Weenie Roast over here at the Mother Station K-Rock coming up this Saturday and then the Warped Tour and then their own tour. So in a city near you. From Chaos is the name of the new CD. We'll take one call and then we'll go to the song. What do you say? Yeah. Amanda?
39:43
Yeah.
39:43
Adam
You're 15? What's up?
39:45
Caller
Well, I have this weird way of orgasming. I like wrap my legs around. Like, you know how girls like.
39:57
Drew
Around a penis?
39:58
311
Around what? Around each other?
40:00
Caller
Yeah. You know how girls cross their legs?
40:03
Drew
Yeah.
40:03
Caller
Right. I do it again. And so I put my foot that's on top under my thigh. Or my, um.
40:10
311
Your foot that's on top under your thigh.
40:13
Drew
Okay. I got it.
40:14
Right, right.
40:15
Caller
Do you get it on the same?
40:16
Drew
Yeah.
40:17
Adam
You sit on it.
40:18
Drew
Yeah. And what's the question? So what happens?
40:21
Caller
I'm on my side, though.
40:22
Drew
Yeah. We got you.
40:23
Caller
And I just keep my brothers around so I don't have to be quiet, okay? Well, I'm on my side on my bed and I just squeeze my thighs together.
40:34
Adam
And you have an orgasm?
40:35
Caller
Yeah.
40:36
Adam
How long does it take you? How long does it take you to do that?
40:38
Caller
Probably, probably 10 minutes.
40:43
Adam
Really?
40:45
311
You're a lucky girl.
40:46
Adam
Yeah. It's pretty good. Especially if you're on the road or something. But 10 minutes. Is it really 10 minutes? Because that's kind of a long time to be in a sort of locked position.
40:57
Caller
Maybe. I don't know. I'm not sure. Maybe probably between probably five and eight minutes.
41:05
Adam
All right. So like Stairway to Heaven, that length?
41:10
Caller
Yeah.
41:10
Adam
We know what that is. Led Zeppelin, some rock man.
41:15
311
Stairway to something.
41:16
Adam
Okay. So hey, that's good, right?
41:18
Drew
That's a good thing, Amanda.
41:19
Caller
Yeah. Is it okay? I've done it probably since I was in fourth grade.
41:22
Drew
It's great. You're doing fine.
41:24
Adam
Fourth grade?
41:25
Caller
Yeah.
41:25
Adam
Orgasms in fourth grade?
41:26
Caller
No. But I did that position, everything.
41:29
Drew
That's good. That's fine.
41:30
311
I'd say just don't cut off the circulation to your legs and you're set.
41:33
Adam
What got you in that position though without the orgasm is sort of the payday.
41:38
Drew
They're still stimulating.
41:39
Caller
I'm not sure.
41:40
Drew
Still, we felt good to her.
41:41
311
I'm sorry. I can't picture it.
41:43
Drew
I don't know.
41:43
311
I don't understand what she's doing.
41:44
Drew
She's just bringing her legs over one another and just squeezing her thighs together.
41:49
Adam
Are you a virgin? Yeah. Right. Sure. Who's going to get in there? Couldn't get in there with a slim gym. All right. All right, Amanda. Good times.
41:59
Caller
Hey, in 311, you guys rock.
42:01
311
Thank you.
42:01
Caller
Could you tell my friend Kyle hi?
42:04
311
Kyle.
42:04
311
Hi, Kyle.
42:06
311
From our deepest innards, hello.
42:09
Adam
All right, Amanda.
42:10
Caller
Thanks a lot.
42:10
Adam
Good times there, baby.
42:12
Caller
Bye.
42:13
Adam
All right. We will hear a little something from 311. You got it queued up there, Anderson? This one is called You Wouldn't Believe.
46:00
Drew
God goes wild.
46:01
Adam
From Chaos is the name of that CD. Another good song from 311. It is out today, right?
46:08
Drew
Yep.
46:09
Adam
Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm freaking out. But the last few bands we've had in here, I think Pennywise and Dave Navarro had their CD coming out.
46:17
Drew
Like the next day or something.
46:18
Adam
Today. Yeah. But I got used to saying it's coming out tomorrow, the next day or whatever it is. 311 here this time, CD out today.
46:26
Drew
Also, we just completed an intense lecture about the male anatomy.
46:30
Adam
Yeah. Kind of nice.
46:31
311
Very informative.
46:32
311
You're shocked. I can't see it.
46:34
Adam
Now, you know what's great about me? I retain no information. So each time Drew shows me something, even if it's for the 30th time, it's brand new. Everything's brand new for me.
46:44
311
I got that same thing going on.
46:46
Adam
It's great. I walk into my house every night and go, hey, nice spread. What's going on? I wonder what's in the fridge. Hey, this guy's got porn and beer. All right. We'll take a break. We'll be back.
47:00
Love Line, we'll be right back. Call on the 1-800-LOVE-191.
47:45
Adam
Hey, everybody, it's Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla. That is Dr. Drew over there. Phone number 1-800-LLVE-191. Nick Hexham and Peanut are both here from 311. Thank you. We'll hear some more off the new CD. And again, they'll be on the Warped Tour, they'll be on their own tour. They'll be at the Weenie Roast this weekend in Irvine. They'll be everywhere. So look for them coming to a town near you.
48:14
Caller
It's Lara.
48:15
Adam
Lara?
48:16
Caller
Yes.
48:17
311
Whatever.
48:19
Adam
Whatever.
48:19
311
She's disgusted after one mispronunciation.
48:22
Adam
You're 18. What's going on?
48:24
Caller
Okay. Four years ago when I was 14, I was raped by a boyfriend that was, we were going out for like a week.
48:32
Adam
Right.
48:33
Caller
And I never told anybody because I was kind of like embarrassed, you know? Never told anybody. And I started going out with somebody. Now we've been together since September. And I told him, and he recently told his mom. And his mom like confronted me about it. And she wants me to tell my parents.
48:52
Drew
Tell me more about that rape. What happened exactly?
48:54
Caller
Okay. Well, my parents went out like one night and I had him come over. And he ended up coming over. And we were just like hanging out in my room. We were like making out or whatever. And, you know, he just continued to go a little further. And I kept saying, no, no, no, no, no. And, you know, it just, it happened.
49:17
Adam
How old was he?
49:18
Caller
He was 16.
49:19
Drew
And you were 14?
49:20
Caller
And I was 14, yeah.
49:21
Adam
And you'd just been going out with him a week?
49:23
Caller
Yeah, it was a week.
49:24
Drew
Did you continue to go out with him after that?
49:26
Caller
I did for like, like I didn't talk to him anymore. I mean, what happened was we were both on the same, we were on the swim team at school together.
49:34
Drew
Did you keep going out with him after that?
49:35
Caller
Yeah.
49:36
Drew
For how long?
49:37
Caller
Maybe about like two weeks.
49:39
Drew
Did you sleep with him again after that?
49:40
Caller
No, no, no, no. What happened was we were on the swim team together at school and it was kind of hard to like ignore him, to kind of get away from him.
49:49
Drew
Is that what you wanted to do?
49:51
Caller
Yeah.
49:51
Drew
Was that the first time you were sexually assaulted in your life?
49:54
Caller
Yeah. That was the first time I've ever had sex before.
49:57
Drew
You were never victimized or touched or beaten or anything like that at any point? Never?
50:01
Caller
No.
50:01
Drew
Nothing like that?
50:03
Adam
Why didn't you tell anybody? I know you're confused and young and everything, but why didn't you tell anybody or at least break up with him?
50:11
Caller
I don't know. I ended up breaking up with him like two weeks afterwards. I lied to him and I told him I cheated on him this way. He broke up with me.
50:19
Drew
What we're building at is that somehow you already were a victim. You behaved like a good victim.
50:25
Caller
Yeah.
50:25
Drew
We're wondering what that was that made you such a good victim.
50:29
Caller
I was scared.
50:30
Drew
Yeah, but that's what victims do. They're paralyzed. They can't do anything. They don't know what to do. They don't do what people who are not victims do, which is scream like hell and tell everybody.
50:38
Adam
Sometimes it's not overt stuff. It's subtle stuff. I mean, your parents, you don't feel like they're there for you or whatever it is.
50:46
Caller
Yeah, that's what happened. We don't really have a good relationship at all.
50:50
Drew
Was there a lot of emotional abuse that went on? Do you have an eating disorder?
50:56
Caller
No. All right.
50:57
Adam
Your dad's good?
50:59
Caller
Yeah, we get along more than me and my mom do, but I feel like I can't tell him because it's my father. You know?
51:06
Caller
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
51:07
Caller
How are you supposed to say something like that?
51:08
Adam
I understand. And the thing that's kind of curious is your... A couple of things. How old's your new boyfriend?
51:15
Caller
He's 19.
51:15
Adam
He's 19?
51:17
Caller
He's a year older than me.
51:17
Drew
She's 18.
51:18
Adam
What the hell is he talking to his mom about this for?
51:21
Drew
Yeah.
51:21
Adam
What's up with him?
51:22
Caller
What happened was he was... Because he has a cousin that's 16 years old and they were talking about going down the shore at my boyfriend and his aunt. And he was just like, Oh, well, I know. Just tell her to be careful because I know that this happened to somebody. And I guess she kind of pieced together and she told his mom and then his mom pieced together somehow. I don't know. And then his mom confronted him and asked him and he's like, Yeah.
51:47
Adam
All right.
51:48
Drew
All very suspicious still.
51:49
Adam
All right. I really like I said, I don't trust a 19 year old guy who communicates with anyone in his family.
51:54
Drew
What are you going to accomplish by telling your parents?
51:56
Caller
Well, they're really hard on me. They've always been really strict.
51:59
Drew
Like, you know, and I get eating disorder.
52:03
Caller
Just to be clear.
52:04
Adam
No eating disorder?
52:06
Caller
No, I don't have one.
52:07
Drew
You never restricted eating or weight issues or anything?
52:10
Caller
No, not really.
52:11
Drew
You never use laxatives?
52:13
Caller
No. I mean, I take stackers.
52:15
Drew
You take what?
52:16
Caller
Stackers.
52:17
Drew
What's that?
52:18
Caller
Stackers too, like the diet pills, I guess.
52:20
Drew
All right, you take diet pills.
52:22
Caller
Well, I mean, it's not...
52:24
Drew
Hey, Lara, that's... People with eating disorders all deny that they have eating disorders. You're preoccupied about your weight.
52:32
Caller
No. No, I don't... I'm just... I don't know. Like, my parents are really strict on me, and I have to get, you know, good grades in school. I have to have a job. You know, I have... I'm a receptionist, and I babysit, like, two other families.
52:46
Adam
Right.
52:46
Caller
And, I mean, I have nightmares at night. I can't sleep.
52:50
Adam
Well, why? Over the rape?
52:52
Caller
Yeah.
52:53
311
Don't you want to bring this guy to justice, you know?
52:56
Drew
She probably can't this late at night.
52:57
Caller
Yeah. Yeah.
52:58
Drew
But you need, well, the only thing I can think you can accomplish by telling your parents is get some treatment. You're having nightmares, you're having all these issues with your parents, you're really having difficulty sort of expressing yourself, quite literally, and that deserves treatment. It really does. And if it means telling your parents as a way of getting that treatment, then fine. But maybe just telling them you're depressed or something, is some other way of getting treatment first, and then ultimately involving them in that treatment in some way that you can safely feel like you can tell them.
53:24
Adam
Well, it also seems like you need to get out from under your parents' thumb. I mean, they sound like a pain in the ass, those two. Yeah. Can you move out on your own?
53:33
Caller
I don't know. I'm paying for a new car, so it's kind of hard to afford anything.
53:36
Adam
Well, just live in your car. It's a big, it's not big. The seat folds down. You're not a big gal. You take those diet pills. You can squeeze in there.
53:45
Caller
All right, all right.
53:46
Adam
All right, listen.
53:49
Caller
I'm going to cross the line.
53:50
Adam
Tell your boyfriend's mom, if you want to do it, do it through your boyfriend, that this is your family business and that you're seeking some help, but she really needs to stay out of this.
54:03
Caller
OK.
54:03
Adam
All right?
54:04
Caller
OK.
54:04
Adam
And they really need to respect that. And if your boyfriend keeps pushing, I don't trust him. And I wouldn't trust his mom either if she kept pushing. You're fat. Drew, please, the girl already has issues. This is something that happened four years ago. Yeah. She needs to work it out, but she doesn't need the boyfriend's mom putting the pressure on him. What the hell kind of mom is that?
54:27
311
Yeah.
54:28
Adam
Yeah.
54:28
311
I just trying to help. I guess.
54:30
Drew
Yeah.
54:30
311
The guy didn't know what else to do. You know, he wanted to. You know, some people are tight with their mom and I'm freaked out by this. Well, yeah, I don't I don't see that as being so weird.
54:40
Drew
Adam's freaked out by anybody who's tight with their mom.
54:42
311
And that could be a beginning for the for the treatment, too, is just getting it out and talking to even an adult about it and then maybe, you know, taking it professional after that.
54:51
Drew
All right.
54:51
311
If that's what it really needs.
54:52
Adam
The 311 makes a compelling point. Maybe people should talk to their parents. I don't know.
54:58
311
We're really tight with our moms.
54:59
Adam
Are you tight with your parents?
55:00
311
Especially our moms.
55:01
Adam
That's why you guys are nice.
55:02
311
That's why we're so well adjusted.
55:02
Adam
Yeah, you're healthy.
55:04
311
That's my one big regret because I know that, you know, angst is really big right now.
55:08
Adam
Right.
55:08
Drew
What is?
55:09
Adam
Angst.
55:10
311
Being so cool with my parents. Right. That's a joke.
55:15
Drew
Pat, 19.
55:17
Caller
Hey, what's going on?
55:17
Adam
Hey.
55:18
Caller
Just a quick question for Nick and Peanut about the new album. Guys, congratulations. This new album is like kick ass.
55:25
311
Thank you.
55:25
Caller
Thank you. Which songs do you two feel are your favorites on the new album? Just because my CD doesn't work when I pop it on the computer.
55:37
311
We hate to hear that.
55:38
Caller
No, no. It's cool, man. It's cool. I'm still listening to it. It's great.
55:44
311
That's surprising.
55:44
Caller
My favorites, maybe.
55:47
311
I'm fond of I Told Myself. That song is just the title evokes, I told myself I wasn't going to do something again. There it is. What? What? But anyway, the song's about having a girl saying, I told myself I wasn't going to call you again and that struggle of trying to resist once you've decided someone's not right for you but you still really compelled to call them.
56:13
Caller
I know that feeling well, man.
56:14
311
So that's documenting that whole kind of thing.
56:17
Caller
Yeah.
56:18
311
How about you, Peanut?
56:19
311
I don't know. It kind of changes every day and since it's so personal, all the songs mean a lot to me. But I think my favorite today would probably be Uncalm just because it's so different of a song for us to come up with.
56:32
Caller
Yeah, it is very different. Just a quick story for Nick. I guess about a year and a half ago before you guys released the sound system, you pulled my friend over. I think it was like in Hollywood Hills or something. He was driving a green Pathfinder and he had a 311 bumper sticker.
56:46
311
Yeah, I remember. I like waved and...
56:48
Caller
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he like didn't really know what you were doing. His window was broken so he had to get out and run around. Anyway, he just told me that. I had already started listening to you guys a couple years before he actually got me turned on to you guys and that just really kind of solidified just, I don't know, my feelings about just you guys as a band and people. And it was really great.
57:10
311
Cool. Thanks. I mean, we just feel really grateful to be able to do this for a living and just to have fans. You know, anytime we see a 311 t-shirt or a sticker or whatever, it's just like, you know, means a lot to us. We've been doing this a long time and, you know, we've had some hard times with our label and, you know, kind of some frustration and stuff. So now that things are starting to click for us again, it's just like sweet.
57:35
Adam
I know Drew has a gas, grass or ass, no one rides for free bumper sticker. And you have your own story about that.
57:44
Drew
Every time I see one of those other people's stories.
57:47
Adam
You run over, give the guy some gas money, some weed and a little tail.
57:54
311
Well, nobody rides for free, man.
57:57
Adam
I like, I love it when that one got upgraded in the 80s to Coke, Tok or Poke. That was the one, I'll tell you, the one good thing about going to LA Valley Junior College is you could walk through the parking lot and really keep up to date with all the cutting edge bumper stickers that were going on out there. But you saw this guy driving in the hills, he was in front of you, obviously. Did you follow him?
58:24
311
No, he was next to me and I noticed he had a 311 sticker, so I just honked and waved. Then he jumped out of his car and ran around. I was like, oh my God, I can't believe it. I guess I was just in a really good mood that day, sun was shining.
58:38
Adam
But isn't it nice to know that, and you can't buy that PR by the way, Drew.
58:44
311
No way.
58:45
Adam
I guess you could buy it, but it'd be like four or 500 bucks.
58:50
311
And it wouldn't feel the same.
58:51
Adam
Isn't it kind of nice to know that you can take 30 seconds to a minute and a half of your life and give a guy a story that's going to last forever, and he tells all his buddies, and he's like, the guy's walking on Cloud 9 the whole day.
59:02
311
Totally. Totally. It really is.
59:04
Adam
Then Drew, the next time you drag me through some airport, when I'm wanting to sign autographs, take pictures and be with the people, I wish you'd remember that.
59:11
311
He's a man of the people, Drew.
59:13
Drew
That's right. I've seen him in action.
59:15
Adam
That is right.
59:16
311
He's a man of the people, especially women.
59:19
Adam
Angela, you're 20. What's up?
59:23
Caller
Can I just say hi to Peanut and Nick?
59:25
Adam
Here they are.
59:26
Caller
Hey, guys.
59:27
311
Hey, what's going on, Angela?
59:28
Caller
Not much. My problem is that one of my friends just recently came out to me and told me that she was bi, and then I have another friend who I know is the same way, and I've known her for a long time, and I just want to know if I should confront her and ask her and tell her and ask her if what I know is true.
59:50
Drew
Well, if you know it to be true, what difference does it make?
59:52
Caller
Well, I mean, I've known her forever, and I don't know why she hasn't told me yet.
59:57
Drew
You guys talk about other intimate things?
59:59
Caller
I mean, like guys and stuff. I mean, when we talk about guys, they just like...
1:00:02
Drew
Give her a chance to talk about girls. Just say, didn't you ever think about girls?
1:00:06
Caller
I've known her for like seven years, and she's never even brought up a subject.
1:00:08
Drew
Yeah, but if you bring it up, maybe she thinks you'll freak out about it.
1:00:12
Caller
I know. That's what I heard. That's what my other friend told me when my friend told me about girls.
1:00:15
Drew
So bring it up. Does she ever think about girls? See what she says. If she says no, what should we talk about?
1:00:19
Caller
I don't know. I think she's afraid to tell me, but I want her to know that I can not understand and stuff.
1:00:27
Drew
How many times can I say the same thing and get her this one?
1:00:30
Adam
I don't know. I stopped listening a long time ago.
1:00:32
Drew
Clearly, the balloon is beside your head.
1:00:35
Adam
Tell her you're down with the lesbians and that it's cool. You don't mind, do you?
1:00:40
Caller
No, I mean, I don't.
1:00:41
Drew
Yeah, but that's not what you're gonna do. You're not gonna go to your friend and walk up to her and go, hey, just want to let you know I'm bored with the lesbian thing. Why don't you just say, sometime when you're talking about your relationships, just say, do you think about women? And see where she goes with that.
1:00:55
Caller
She's lying to me.
1:00:56
Drew
Well, that's her business then. Then you can reassure her, say, you know, if you were, it would be no big deal to me. And if she doesn't want to talk about it, she doesn't want to talk about it with you.
1:01:03
Adam
Well, why don't you, why don't you, like, duct tape her hands behind her back and just beat on her pretty good until she admits she's a lesbian?
1:01:10
Drew
Like a torch and a flame and just hold it under her feet.
1:01:13
Caller
Yeah, I mean, I don't think it's like bad or anything.
1:01:15
Caller
It's just that...
1:01:16
Drew
Angela.
1:01:16
Adam
No, I'm saying, though, you need a confession. I think if you pump her full of enough sodium pentothal and beat on her enough, maybe you...
1:01:24
Caller
I feel really bad because, like, I don't know why she can't come out and tell me, you know?
1:01:27
Adam
Well, I'm telling you, you're not applying the right pressure. There are ways to get answers.
1:01:31
Caller
I can't do that. She's like one of my best friends.
1:01:34
311
So, you're just kind of bummed that she didn't confide in you?
1:01:36
Caller
Well, one of them told me and the other one didn't. Like, one of them that I've known less, she told me about it and the other one isn't telling me. And, like, I know they lie to me. They lie to me. Like, I don't know if I should, like, ask her because, I mean, I know they like me.
1:01:47
Drew
What else do they like?
1:01:48
Adam
Hold on. We got to talk. We got to talk about Angela for a sec. Angela sounds like a world-class pain in the ass in the two and a half minutes of knowing her. You know, she keeps going and we just keep telling her, well, why don't you just open up a dialogue? They lie. They lie to me. I know they lie. They both are lying. I think they're both kind of get the vibe that Angela's maybe a little tightly wound and that open dialogue is maybe not a great angle with Angela. Maybe they're trying to avoid her or just sort of keep that. I mean, we all have friends. You know, we have, it's funny that we have good friends and then we have friends we do certain things with. You got your car buddies. I got my model airplane buddies that everyone makes fun of. These are older guys who still live at home. But I don't talk to them about beating off and all that other good stuff. I might bring it up next time.
1:02:40
311
But you already brought it up. You just brought it up.
1:02:42
Adam
Maybe you're right. Maybe we've broached that already. But the point is, is maybe these are friends that don't get into this kind of maybe their work buddies or whatever it is.
1:02:51
Drew
They don't want to get into it with Angela. She takes great offense of that.
1:02:55
311
You know what? There's no accounting for personal chemistry. Maybe they just thought that she wouldn't react right and there's just nothing you can do.
1:03:00
Drew
By the way, any time somebody doesn't want to discuss something with you about their personal lives, they're prerogative, right?
1:03:06
311
It'll come out when it's necessary.
1:03:09
Adam
Why don't you, seriously, have a couple of wine coolers with her and see where it goes.
1:03:14
311
Spritzer, Zina.
1:03:15
Adam
Angela?
1:03:16
Caller
Yeah.
1:03:16
Adam
Okay. Do you really want to be friends with her?
1:03:19
Caller
They're like my best friends. They're like my sisters. I totally consider them like that. I think they're really close with me in all that.
1:03:25
Adam
Well then, what about the part where they withhold a lot of information from you?
1:03:28
Caller
That's why. That's why I want to know. I don't know if I should bring it up or if I should let her do whatever. I mean, one of my friends confessed it and the other hasn't.
1:03:36
Adam
All right.
1:03:36
Caller
Here we go.
1:03:37
Adam
I understand that. But you were saying there's other things they don't tell you about.
1:03:41
311
So you feel left out though. That's very understandable right there. You got to give her that.
1:03:44
Caller
I feel like I'm not betrayed, but I feel like I don't know why they can't come to me.
1:03:48
Drew
Well, then ask them.
1:03:49
Caller
I'm understanding. When my friend told me, she knew I was cool with it. That's why she told me.
1:03:53
Adam
What's her phone number? Let's call her.
1:03:54
Caller
All right. Good idea. I can't do that.
1:03:56
Adam
Why not?
1:03:56
Caller
Why not because they'll freak out. She'll be like, why are you calling? I just want to know.
1:04:01
311
Let's just get it over with once and for all.
1:04:04
Adam
Right. We got 311 here. Yeah.
1:04:06
311
It's either be patient or go do it.
1:04:09
Caller
I've known her for like seven years.
1:04:10
311
That's why she doesn't know why she doesn't work with us.
1:04:13
Adam
It really would. Angela, let's give her a buzz. Dr. Drew will hold your hand through the whole ordeal. He's a trained professional.
1:04:21
311
He's got all kinds of degrees on the wall here. Staggering.
1:04:25
Adam
All right. Well, then you may never know the truth.
1:04:28
Caller
Well, I'll ask her about it.
1:04:30
Adam
Okay. You're going to ask her tomorrow. Okay?
1:04:31
Caller
Okay.
1:04:32
Adam
Then call back the show.
1:04:33
Caller
Okay.
1:04:33
Adam
But just tell us yes or no and then hang up. All right? We don't want to talk.
1:04:37
Caller
All right. All right.
1:04:37
Adam
Good times. Chris?
1:04:41
Caller
Oh, hey.
1:04:42
Adam
Hey.
1:04:43
Caller
Never thought I'd ever actually get on.
1:04:45
Adam
What's happening? I'd like to say what's up.
1:04:46
Caller
It's 311. You guys are awesome. Congrats on the new album. Thank you. Peanut, congrats on the marriage, man. Thank you. I adore you, bro, from one basis to another. You were like the tiniest. Oh my god. Oh, you're sweet.
1:04:57
Caller
Yeah, I was just wondering.
1:04:58
Caller
I was looking on this one website that's 311-oriented, and they said something about You Wouldn't Believe is about some guy in a movie. I was just wondering about that. What's the deal with that?
1:05:08
311
You Wouldn't Believe is about a friend of mine that was going through a breakup.
1:05:13
311
He's my friend too.
1:05:14
311
Yeah, and got dumped and was just like so down in the dumps, and he was almost just making a joke out of it like, I'm fat, I'm ugly, nobody likes me, and I'm stupid. And to kind of draw the analogy, I was saying it's like the movie Swingers when the guy is so bummed out about being dumped, and his friends are like, You're so money and you don't even know it. And that's it.
1:05:41
Adam
That's John Favreau.
1:05:43
Caller
Hey, I was also wondering, do you think I could interview you guys at the Warped Tour Up in Tahoe for my website by chance?
1:05:51
311
Sure, man.
1:05:52
Drew
We learned last night, the trick is to hang around during the soundcheck.
1:05:55
Adam
That's right.
1:05:56
Drew
Yeah. Hang out.
1:05:57
Adam
That's what we learned from Pennywise.
1:06:00
Drew
Did Pennywise tell us that? Yeah.
1:06:02
311
Yeah, it'd be tougher if you wanted to do it in person, but if you want to do it over the internet, you can just email my mom, and she'll answer all the questions. Yeah.
1:06:09
Caller
All right. Cool.
1:06:10
Drew
No problem.
1:06:10
Caller
All right. Thanks a lot, man.
1:06:11
Adam
All right. Good time, sir.
1:06:13
Caller
All right.
1:06:13
Caller
Later.
1:06:15
311
Got to be hands-on with the kids. Makes all the difference in the world.
1:06:18
Adam
Oh, yeah. I mean, whether you want to do it over the e-mail or just pull them over one car at a time. Anyway, you get to them. You got to get to them. Patty?
1:06:28
Oh, hi. I want to say congratulations to Aaron and Nick for 11 years of 311 being together.
1:06:34
311
Thank you.
1:06:34
I've been with you guys since 1993.
1:06:36
311
All right.
1:06:37
You guys are excellent. I saw your Tucson show and it was absolutely great.
1:06:41
311
Cool. Thanks. We had a little feedback problems there.
1:06:44
Caller
Oh, yeah.
1:06:45
I noticed that there at the end. It wasn't, you know, normal, you guys' style, but it was great. I wanted to ask you though, why did you change the lyrics of Feel So Good To Drink A Beer Instead Of Smoke A Joint?
1:06:57
311
I didn't say that.
1:06:58
Caller
Well, what did you say?
1:06:59
311
I said the old regular lyrics, just take a moment to have a fit once in a while. And sometimes I would say just take a moment to have us to smoke a joint. But just not that time. I didn't say drink a beer.
1:07:12
My mistake. I apologize.
1:07:14
311
But drink a beer. What the hell?
1:07:16
You said there was feedback problems. Apparently there was. But I wanted to say you guys are excellent. You're all looking healthy. Can't wait to see you guys in Phoenix. I drove down to Tucson to see you guys from Phoenix.
1:07:28
Drew
Penny, there's a different question up here on the board. What's your question?
1:07:31
Caller
Oh, I wanted to say a lot of bands there at the show were talking about, hey, don't grop the women and all that type of thing. And that did happen a lot. A lot of body surfers did get groped. And I was wondering how you guys feel about that and what do you think it means kind of like society-wise?
1:07:47
Drew
That men grop women?
1:07:48
Caller
Oh yeah, like when they're getting passed over the top of them, body surfing, things like that, women get grabbed.
1:07:56
Adam
Are you suggesting that it may have been different in other times in our country's history or the world's history?
1:08:03
Caller
No, I'm just saying it has been happening more lately.
1:08:05
311
I would say that maybe it was better.
1:08:07
Caller
And I was wondering, you know...
1:08:09
Drew
I'm sure it's... and whenever people engage in that kind of behavior, I'm sure it always...
1:08:12
Adam
Oh yeah, that's a free cop for most guys. It's not a good thing, I'm just saying, but it's bound to happen.
1:08:18
311
At your average 311 show, that wouldn't happen because the people that are there are going to be a little bit more aware than to think that's cool. But I mean, I think that type of thing culminated in the wood stock that went bad a couple years ago. And that's terrible. You know, it's just disgusting. And we would like to assume that people that are at a 311 show wouldn't do that. But you know, there's not a ton we can do. But you know, if you're at a festival with all kinds of different bands...
1:08:49
Drew
I understand, these are audiences that throw projectiles at us on stage.
1:08:53
Adam
Well not the 311 audience. I mean, you may get hit with a joint, or like a six shooter or something. Do they still make those? You know, the things that go on your bong, you can get six bowls going.
1:09:07
Drew
Load them all at once.
1:09:08
Adam
I love that.
1:09:10
311
That's fancy.
1:09:10
Adam
My buddy The Weez has one, it's like smoke one bowl, slide it, click, click, click, click. It's like novelty drug devices. All right, hey Patty, we're not fans of the groping.
1:09:23
Drew
No.
1:09:24
Adam
But I would also say that, you know, if you have a young daughter and she's planning on doing some crowdsurfing...
1:09:31
Drew
Don't do it...
1:09:32
Adam
.try to dissuade her because there is the opportunity for groping.
1:09:36
Caller
Oh yeah, well my daughter's too, Santana Maria Jane. Hey, and I don't think I'll let her do any crowdsurfing.
1:09:41
Drew
Okay. Whatever.
1:09:41
Adam
None of that.
1:09:42
Caller
See you guys on Friday.
1:09:44
Drew
Bye Patty.
1:09:44
Adam
All right Patty.
1:09:45
311
Bye.
1:09:45
Adam
Good times. She sounded like there was something going on with her that Patty, but I wasn't quite sure what and I didn't care to find out. We don't...
1:09:54
311
She had a script in front of her or something, she was reading all those words.
1:09:57
Adam
We don't have to get to the bottom of every call on this show, that's something I've come to accept. 311 is here.
1:10:02
311
Can't save them all.
1:10:03
Adam
That's right. Hey, not even half. I'm down to like an eighth now. We will hear something from the new CD and we'll do that after this.
1:10:15
Drew
Hello, who is this?
1:10:16
Caller
This is Loveline, 1-800-LOVE-191. Loveline will be right back.
1:10:40
Caller
Hi, this is Jon Favreau, and you're listening to Love Line with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew.
1:10:44
Caller
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:10:45
311
I'm referencing the Favreau.
1:10:49
Adam
Your money. 311 is here. We have Peanut and Nick both here from the band. We will hear something off the new CD in just a second.
1:11:00
Drew
Drew? Take a call first, yeah.
1:11:02
Adam
All right. We'll talk to, yeah. Tim?
1:11:05
Caller
Yes.
1:11:06
Drew
Tim is 22.
1:11:07
Adam
What's up?
1:11:07
Caller
How's it going? I just want to say Peanut and Nick, I've seen you guys like five times. You guys are amazing in concert.
1:11:13
311
Thanks.
1:11:14
Caller
Congrats on the new album.
1:11:15
311
Thank you. We love what we do.
1:11:16
Caller
Thanks. I have a question for Dr. Drew actually. I was at the gym the other day and I was doing leg extension and I didn't have an erection or anything like that but I was doing really hard set and I had what seemed to be like I was on the verge of an orgasm.
1:11:36
311
We were just talking about this a minute ago.
1:11:40
Adam
That's right.
1:11:40
311
We were trying it.
1:11:41
Drew
Some guys can do this. Women can often do this but there are some guys will do this too.
1:11:47
Caller
It was really strange. I went to the bathroom and made sure I didn't just have to like take a leak really bad or something. Came back and did another set and I was like on the verge again. I'm just wondering what's going on.
1:11:57
Drew
That's just you. That's not an abnormal thing.
1:11:59
Caller
It's not.
1:11:59
311
Does it feel good? I mean, is it like it?
1:12:02
Caller
Yeah, I don't really want to like, you know, bust a nut right there in the middle of the gym or anything, but.
1:12:08
311
But you could.
1:12:09
Caller
Yeah, it was it was like right on the edge.
1:12:11
Adam
With no erection.
1:12:13
Caller
Yeah, with no erection. That's why I'm wondering if it has something to do with the prostate. I don't know if you saw like whatever that road trip where she's like massaging the prostate or something.
1:12:22
Adam
Yeah, I did see that.
1:12:24
Drew
Yeah, I don't know exactly what the mechanism is, but I've heard of this before. I think it's less to do with the prostate as more to do with constriction of the blood supply in that area, restriction of, who knows? I mean, it doesn't seem to be a nerve thing. I imagine it could be a pressure on the seminal vesicles.
1:12:45
Adam
Whatever it is, we really got an in-depth conversation about this, about two commercials ago complete with anatomical diagrams and the whole thing.
1:12:57
Drew
Yeah, I was going over it with that. I'm just trying to describe how this could happen.
1:13:00
311
You're not going to break your penis doing this.
1:13:02
Caller
Okay. And so...
1:13:04
311
Enjoy it.
1:13:05
Adam
Yeah, that's fine.
1:13:06
Caller
Maybe I'll just work out at my house from now on.
1:13:08
Adam
Yeah, well, that's why they have those mats.
1:13:11
311
So you're saying you stopped it before?
1:13:14
Caller
Yeah, I was like right on the verge, and I didn't want to have to go change my shorts or anything.
1:13:20
311
You did the right thing.
1:13:21
Adam
Well, listen, you do what I do when you go to the gym. Stuff a couple of gym socks down there anyway, just to kind of fill things out for the ladies. And if they have to act as a sponge, so be it.
1:13:33
Caller
That's a good idea.
1:13:34
Adam
All right. Good times.
1:13:36
Caller
311, thanks for putting out a new album. All our fans are glad you did it.
1:13:41
311
Cool. Thanks for saying so.
1:13:43
Adam
We'll hear something from 311 right now. How about that? Are you queued up there, Anderson? This one is called I'll Be Here A While.
1:17:14
311
That goes mild.
1:17:16
Drew
Totally mild.
1:17:18
Adam
From Chaos is the name of the CD. Out today, everybody. Another good one from 311. And let's see if we can get some more calls in, talk to Shannon who's 27. Shannon?
1:17:32
311
Hey, guys.
1:17:33
Adam
Hey.
1:17:33
311
Hey.
1:17:34
311
How are you?
1:17:35
Caller
What's up?
1:17:37
311
311, Nick Peanut. How are you guys?
1:17:39
311
Good.
1:17:40
311
Very good. Just wanted to ask Nick about the song Amber. Who inspired you to write that song?
1:17:48
311
Secret.
1:17:50
311
Secret?
1:17:52
Drew
OK, finally an opportunity for a story.
1:17:55
311
Denied.
1:17:56
311
No, I'll just say that, you know, saying Amber is the color of your energy is just like saying, you know, you really like someone's energy, you know, like of, to give the color, like Amber is a very, like, soft light that's easy to look at, you know, and the spectrum, like blue being harsh and, and like, you know, Amber is like the light of a candle and it's just a poetic way of complimenting a girl.
1:18:22
311
Well, it's beautiful. I mean, you guys truly inspire so many people and to mix, you know, your harder songs with something so sweet as Amber is beautiful. But I actually have a question for Dr. Drew. How do you feel about the copper IUD birth control method?
1:18:41
Drew
Copper 7?
1:18:42
Adam
Well, copper is a mellow color.
1:18:45
311
It is.
1:18:46
Drew
On the spectrum.
1:18:46
Adam
It's almost like an amber color.
1:18:47
Drew
I think IUDs are fine if you're basically done having kids.
1:18:53
311
Really?
1:18:53
Drew
You already had kids?
1:18:55
311
No, I don't.
1:18:56
Drew
Well, typically people would not put those in until you've, because they can cause problems. You mean, has somebody recommended that to you?
1:19:04
311
Yeah, gynecologist, but I'm not really fond of the pill. And I like to have like a backup method, you know, other than just using a condom.
1:19:12
Drew
What's wrong with the pill?
1:19:15
311
Hormones, I just don't like manipulating those. I like natural, I mean, I know putting something copper inside of you is not good too, but from what you said, the side effects weren't bad.
1:19:25
Drew
Well, fertility problems. They can scar the tubes up and cause infections and things. Maybe they're seeing less now with the copper, newer copper devices, but that's historically why they don't use the IUDs anymore on women that have not had children.
1:19:36
Adam
Maybe find a pill that works for you.
1:19:39
311
Yeah, good luck.
1:19:41
Drew
Well, the risks of pregnancy are substantially greater than the risks of the birth control pill. The health risks of pregnancy. Yeah.
1:19:50
311
And can I ask something? Now, if people say that the pill is like 99% effective, so 1 in 100.
1:19:57
Drew
No, no, no. It's not 99.99. It's like 1 in 10,000.
1:20:00
311
Okay. So if you take it, you know.
1:20:03
Drew
Perfectly.
1:20:04
311
If you take it perfectly, it's 1 in 10,000.
1:20:06
Drew
Yeah.
1:20:07
311
Okay.
1:20:08
311
But I mean, the thing is, though, is that quality of life, as far as like, for some people, I mean, it just can send people crazy, batty, you know, when you take, start manipulating those hormones and stuff like that, so.
1:20:21
Adam
Is that the case? Is that the case for you?
1:20:24
311
Yeah. I mean, I just, I don't feel good when I'm on it.
1:20:26
Drew
Okay.
1:20:26
311
You know, and.
1:20:28
Drew
There's a male pill coming too.
1:20:30
Adam
Right.
1:20:30
Drew
Very soon. And again, unless there's some new data on the newer copper devices, I would be very concerned about using it if you're planning to have children.
1:20:39
311
Okay. All right.
1:20:41
Adam
So you're with the condom. Yeah. You can still try other pills, you know.
1:20:45
311
I'll try.
1:20:46
Drew
And use a condom and a diaphragm and, you know, use all that good stuff.
1:20:49
311
Makes your boobs bigger.
1:20:50
Adam
Yeah.
1:20:50
Drew
Condom.
1:20:51
Caller
Well, thanks. Yeah.
1:20:52
Adam
Listen, as some women, it clears their skin up and it's not all bad. I kind of had the vibe that Shannon didn't like it on sort of philosophical terms.
1:21:02
Drew
It's the man doing it to her.
1:21:03
Adam
Well, that she's screwing with mother nature, but that I didn't know if she had any personal beefs with it.
1:21:11
Drew
No, she has her own conception. They'll put an IUD in. Pregnancy, those are not a problem, but those are more risky kinds of phenomena.
1:21:20
Adam
Right. Jose?
1:21:22
Caller
Yeah.
1:21:22
Adam
You're 16?
1:21:23
Caller
Yeah, like I have a question.
1:21:25
Caller
All right.
1:21:28
Caller
There's two more weeks in school, and I like to be two girls. I don't know how to talk to them, but I can't find a way to talk to them. I'm looking for a way to start a conversation.
1:21:40
Adam
Yeah, because you're breaking for summer and you want to go for broke, right?
1:21:44
Caller
Yeah.
1:21:45
Adam
Yeah. I had that plan too when I was in school. It never really paid off, but do you guys remember that thought?
1:21:51
Drew
Yeah.
1:21:52
Adam
Like it's the tenth grade, and there's some chick you've been eyeballing for the last nine months, and now there's like four days between you and the time you'll never see her for three months, which is just a lifetime.
1:22:03
Drew
How am I going to make it across that summer?
1:22:05
Adam
And you might as well... No, the idea is go for broke now, because you're not going to see her in your biology class the next day.
1:22:12
Drew
Yeah, but if you want to be able to see her across the summer, you got to strike now.
1:22:15
311
Right, right.
1:22:16
311
The thing is, usually there's so much pressure and tension if you get the guts up to walk up to her and just talk her out of the blue that she's just going to be freaked out. You really just need to become friends with her.
1:22:26
Adam
Yeah, because it ends up feeling like a bum rush at that point.
1:22:30
Drew
Which it is.
1:22:31
Adam
Yeah, it really is.
1:22:32
Drew
Which women love that. They're turned on by that.
1:22:35
Adam
So...
1:22:36
Caller
It's the last time I tried to talk to one of them, but like, my face, ah, stupid dog, oh, sorry. I tried to talk to one of them, and my face got red, and I started to stutter and mumble, and I forgot what I was going to tell her.
1:22:51
Drew
Well, we're proud of you for having gone up and tried.
1:22:53
311
Absolutely. And it'll become less and less nerve-racking as you keep doing it.
1:22:59
Caller
I think she got scared, too, like nervous, but I don't know, the smartest thing I could come up with go up to her and say, I have four fingers, I want them. So, I don't know, I need a little help.
1:23:09
Drew
Yeah, she didn't freak out about that, I bet.
1:23:11
Adam
Four fingers and no one thumb. She didn't mace you or anything?
1:23:14
Caller
Yeah, that's pretty intelligent of you, you ask me.
1:23:16
Adam
Well, hey.
1:23:19
311
It'll become more and more natural. Okay, we're being had.
1:23:21
Adam
Yeah. What the hell is that, four fingers with one thumb? Jose?
1:23:26
311
Looking around puzzle, looking around the studio at each other like, what is this?
1:23:28
Drew
What, Jose?
1:23:29
Caller
I used to say I have five fingers, but somebody corrected me. It's like four fingers and one thumb.
1:23:33
Adam
I see. I see. Yeah, that will usually do it. I'm surprised she didn't drop her pants right there.
1:23:38
311
You mean that didn't work, then she must be a lesbian.
1:23:41
Adam
Yeah. Impervious to the powers of man. All right. Hey, Jose. You got two weeks before you break for summer? Yeah. Start talking tomorrow.
1:23:51
Caller
Yeah, but like about what?
1:23:53
Drew
No, start focusing on what do I do.
1:23:54
Caller
Hold on.
1:23:55
Adam
What about your toes?
1:23:56
Caller
My what?
1:23:57
Adam
Oh. You got four toes and one big toe, right?
1:24:00
Caller
Yeah.
1:24:00
Adam
Let's start working that angle.
1:24:01
311
You can call it a thumb toe, if you want.
1:24:03
Adam
Two nads, one sack.
1:24:04
Drew
Call it a helix.
1:24:05
Adam
There's many angles you could work.
1:24:08
Caller
Yeah, but she might think I'm an idiot or something.
1:24:10
Adam
Well, she may have a point. Look, Jose. Like, just start some dialogue. Okay?
1:24:16
Drew
No, I think you gotta focus on a summer vacation. Just think about what he wants to do with his time.
1:24:20
311
He just needs a group of friends.
1:24:22
Drew
It's not time for him to make any assaults.
1:24:23
Adam
Okay. Jose, here's plan B. Score as much porn and lube as you can for the summer, all right?
1:24:31
Caller
I don't want them to go away.
1:24:33
Adam
All right. Well, then, here's what you do then. Just go look. Summer's coming up. It'd be nice if we could keep in touch. Can I get your phone number? How about this? I'll give you my phone number. See if you want to call, we'll talk about digits.
1:24:50
311
I'll take you to a movie.
1:24:52
Caller
Right.
1:24:52
Adam
We'll go to a movie.
1:24:53
Caller
All right?
1:24:53
311
Movies are big.
1:24:54
Caller
All right. No way. All right. Thank you.
1:24:56
Adam
It's not gonna work. Now, I'm thinking, how many women like these sort of hot chicks that have been in school for the whole semester, how many of them get that bum rush at the end of the-
1:25:11
Caller
All of them, right?
1:25:11
Adam
Do they?
1:25:12
Drew
Of course.
1:25:13
Adam
Do you guys remember that plan? I mean, did you have that plan? I never executed it.
1:25:17
Drew
They probably wonder what the hell is going on here. These guys are coming up to me with red faces, looking stuttering and talking digits.
1:25:26
Adam
Do you remember trying to go over your yearbook and what they said, and it's like, have a cool summer, see you next semester, and you go, I'm in, I'm in, I'm in. Yeah, that might be something. Cool summer.
1:25:39
Drew
Cool summer.
1:25:40
Adam
Hey. Yeah, that's it.
1:25:41
311
I'm glad I met you.
1:25:42
Drew
She wants to see me next semester.
1:25:43
Adam
Yeah, she's looking forward to it.
1:25:45
311
Hey, that smiley face.
1:25:47
Adam
Yeah, that meant something.
1:25:48
Drew
A little heart over the eye.
1:25:49
Adam
Heart over the eye. That's love. This chick's starting to pressure me too much. I need my space.
1:25:54
311
Better erase that part out of that yearbook.
1:25:56
Adam
Bye bye. 311 is here. We'll take a break and we'll be right back.
1:26:05
Caller
Um, back in a minute.
1:26:34
Adam
Love Line. I'm Adam. That's true. Peanut and Nick are both here from 311. From Chaos is the name of the CD out today. And let's go to the phone, see what we can do before we have to go. Juan?
1:26:52
Caller
Hello.
1:26:53
Adam
You're 19?
1:26:53
Caller
Yeah, how's it going?
1:26:54
Adam
Good, how are you doing?
1:26:56
Caller
Alright. Hey, I got a question. Alright. I heard the girls have to wipe like front to back because if they wipe back to front, they can get infections and stuff.
1:27:05
Drew
That's true.
1:27:05
Caller
So I'm wondering on behalf of my girlfriend, if it's like we switch from doing it in the butt to the vagina, back or forth, if she can get the same infection.
1:27:15
Drew
Well, very chivalrous of you to brought that up, Sir Walter Raleigh. That's nice.
1:27:19
Adam
Usually it's good to use a sweatshirt and wipe your dong off before you go back in. But if you're going to go back and forth, what about it, Drew?
1:27:27
Drew
Yeah, not a good idea. Yes, it's the equivalent to doing worse than wiping back to front. You can give them your infections, give them vaginal infections. Lovely thing.
1:27:36
Adam
Well, let's, Juan, just to make it easier, let's replace your penis with an object, like a mop handle. All right? Now you figure if you did a mop handle from back to front and then back again, you could spread something around, right?
1:27:53
311
Right. Right.
1:27:54
Drew
Penis as fomite.
1:27:56
Adam
Right. All right. So you could do that. You know what I was thinking today as I was wiping my ass?
1:28:02
Drew
Nice.
1:28:02
Adam
I thought I wipe with my right hand, yet I'm left handed.
1:28:06
Drew
Good times.
1:28:07
Adam
Yeah. And then I thought, how many other guys do that? You guys, you guys right handed?
1:28:14
311
Yeah.
1:28:15
Adam
Right hand?
1:28:15
Drew
Right hand.
1:28:16
311
Left handed.
1:28:17
311
He plays, he plays a right handed bass though.
1:28:20
Adam
Oh, really? But left handed?
1:28:23
Drew
With the butt wipe.
1:28:24
311
But what about the butt wipe? I think I'm right handed butt wipe.
1:28:29
Adam
Yeah.
1:28:30
311
But I don't usually like to tell people that.
1:28:31
Adam
Well, sure. It's something that only a hard hitting interviewer like myself get out of a band.
1:28:38
311
Only the fifth or sixth time.
1:28:39
311
You and Dan rather.
1:28:40
Adam
But I started-
1:28:40
311
I wouldn't have done it the first time.
1:28:41
Adam
I started to think, then I thought, well, a lot of bathrooms are kind of set up that way. There's a little pony wall there. You got a little more room to the right.
1:28:50
Drew
Yeah, good point. You're the construction guy. Is that the place designed?
1:28:53
Adam
Yeah. I started- I was sitting in my dressing room, my bathroom, taking a crap.
1:28:58
Drew
It's discriminatory against left-handed people.
1:29:00
Adam
Oh, yeah.
1:29:01
311
Just like spiral notebooks, man.
1:29:03
Adam
That's right, man.
1:29:04
311
Right-handed world.
1:29:05
Adam
Totally. Yeah, it's tough. So you don't know the pain. I mean, that's why I'm in therapy. It hurts. But right-hand. But also, I think to myself, I like to keep my good hand free in case there's trouble.
1:29:17
Drew
Yeah.
1:29:17
Adam
You know what I'm saying?
1:29:18
Drew
You just have to bring to attention and fight someone off.
1:29:21
Adam
You're taxed while you're going number two. You're never more vulnerable than when you're going number two. You idiots got your good hand stuffed up your ass. What are you going to do with your left? I am ready for action.
1:29:33
Drew
Do you even wipe anymore? Don't you just use that squirting device?
1:29:35
Adam
I don't have that.
1:29:36
311
You got a bidet?
1:29:37
Drew
What?
1:29:37
Adam
Yeah.
1:29:38
311
Peanut's got a bidet.
1:29:39
Drew
Oh, yeah.
1:29:40
Adam
Wow. I knew there was a kind of kinship that we had an unspoken, left-handed, ass-washing sort of brotherhood that we had.
1:29:47
311
Supercharged vehicles.
1:29:47
Adam
Supercharged brotherhood that was going on here.
1:29:51
Drew
How many times have you leaned over that thing when my wife, when she leaned over the bidet the first time, right in the face? Things hit the ceiling every time.
1:29:59
Adam
Oh, no.
1:30:00
Drew
Well, I got it.
1:30:01
311
It's too much pressure.
1:30:02
311
You got to tune that down.
1:30:03
Adam
Well, let's backtrack, pardon the pun, a second here. Peanut, do you have a bidet?
1:30:09
Drew
Yes, I have a bidet. A separate porcelain instrument.
1:30:12
Adam
A separate unit. And was that installed in your house or was it there when you bought it?
1:30:16
311
It was there when I bought it.
1:30:18
Adam
Interesting. And do you make-
1:30:19
311
But they installed it, too.
1:30:21
Adam
Do you make you- Yeah, but it was there. You didn't get it special. But you make use of it?
1:30:26
311
No, no, sadly.
1:30:27
Adam
And is a bidet just shoot forward now or is there a back one or just straight up?
1:30:33
311
Yeah.
1:30:34
Adam
It's not a bad plan if you think about it.
1:30:36
311
No, it's a great plan.
1:30:36
311
The French have got it going on.
1:30:38
311
It's supposed to be really good for you. It's just a little intimidating for my Midwestern.
1:30:44
Adam
Yeah, isn't it?
1:30:44
311
It's supposed to keep you cleaner than just wiping alone. You're the expert. I think getting water involved will get you cleaner.
1:30:51
Drew
It gets less carbuncles in your ass. Yeah, that's probably why you get your carbuncles.
1:30:55
Adam
That's why I'm under control down there.
1:30:56
311
That's a good word.
1:30:57
Adam
And I feel confident and fresh.
1:30:59
311
Dingo berries.
1:30:59
311
Dingo berries would be in Nebraska, but you know, hey.
1:31:02
Adam
Well, Drew, you and Nick may want to step up to this and get the conversion. I got the toilet seat conversion at my house.
1:31:09
311
I'm here to move because I don't have room in my bathroom.
1:31:12
311
No, no, listen.
1:31:12
Drew
No, no, no, no.
1:31:14
Adam
For about 400 or 500 bucks, you buy the special toilet seat. It's all wired up and all you got to do is sort of hook it into the water line. Adam has a remote control. Yeah, I do. Yeah, it has a little remote and it actually has a picture of a seal on it, like a character of a seal.
1:31:31
311
To get you going?
1:31:31
Adam
And yeah, you can hit one, two or three depending on what kind of mood you're in. And that's the power level. But it's nice, it's warm, it's heated. You feel like a king when you're on that throne.
1:31:42
311
That's how they have it in Japan. Nine out of ten of the toilets have their own bidet.
1:31:45
Adam
Really?
1:31:46
311
And there's different buttons in Japan, like forward and like.
1:31:49
Drew
That's your thing. Yeah, you can control it. Your thing is Japanese.
1:31:53
Adam
You know, for a.
1:31:54
311
They got it going on over there.
1:31:55
Drew
Yeah.
1:31:56
Adam
For an industrial nation of our size, we're really not up to speed on this whole ass washing thing.
1:32:02
Drew
Also, we shower all the time, too.
1:32:03
Adam
Is that what it is?
1:32:04
Drew
Yeah.
1:32:05
Adam
All right. OK. Well, anyway, you guys want to look into that.
1:32:08
Drew
That's why it's so important for you because you never shower.
1:32:10
Adam
Right, Drew. And you know why I never shower? Because I can't stop whacking off and I can't do it in the shower, so there's no time to do it. But I do get a form of a shower in my own tears as I masturbate and I mutter my mother's name.
1:32:25
311
Hard-hitting journalism.
1:32:27
Adam
Thank you.
1:32:27
Drew
Put that on tape, please.
1:32:28
Adam
Thank you. 311 is here. Peanut, right hand? Yes. And we'll be back after this.
1:32:37
Caller
Get back in a minute.
1:33:14
Adam
There you go, everybody. Another fantabulous episode of Love Line In The Can. I want to thank 311 for coming out here. Peanut and Nick, a pleasure as usual, guys.
1:33:26
311
Thanks for having us. And I just real quick want to give a shout out to all the 311 fans out there, especially the ones on our bulletin boards, on our website, and on our street team that have been supporting us for so long. And it warms the heart.
1:33:41
Adam
Thanks, guys. And obviously, your fans are very devoted because we have bands in here every night. We never get this many calls for them. So a hardcore following and well-deserved. 311, again, From Chaos is the name of the CD. Out now, everybody. So go out and get it and support our friends, 311, and we'll see you guys on Saturday.
1:34:03
311
Cool. We'll be there.
1:34:03
Drew
We're announcing them.
1:34:04
311
All right.
1:34:05
Adam
We're bringing you guys out on stage. So let's not screw up, because that reflects on us.
1:34:09
311
We got a special surprise for everybody that night. That's all I'm going to say. Good times.
1:34:13
Adam
All right. Until next time, this is Adam Corolla for Dr. Drew saying mahalo.
1:34:18
Caller
I'm not very popular with the ladies.
1:34:20
Adam
No.
1:34:21
Caller
Oh, don't give me that crap.
1:34:24
Caller
