1:16 Guest This is the Best of Loveline. So don't worry about the phone number, the fax number, any of that, because nobody will pick up the phone.
1:26 Drew True, we get paid the same amount.
1:27 Guest You say, every 10 minutes, you have no problem with that. All right, should we bring up our first guest?
1:37 Drew All right, this is Smash Mouth, and Blink 182 right behind us.
1:47 Adam Tonight's play is on Smash Mouth, Blink 182, Dave Navarro at first, Smash Mouth.
1:51 Drew Tonight we're overjoyed to have Steve Harwell here from Smash Mouth.
1:56 Guest How are you doing? Good. It's good to see you, Steve.
1:59 Guest It's been a long time.
1:59 Adam It has been a while.
2:00 Guest Yeah.
2:01 Guest I think- I was looking forward to this. Oh, good. I've looked on your TV show, too. Oh, the Man Show. Yeah. That's scary. You haven't called me one time to be on there.
2:10 Drew You know what?
2:11 Guest I think maybe we have.
2:14 Guest Have you really? You are such a liar.
2:17 Drew No, I-
2:17 Guest It seems like you'd be an asshole.
2:20 Guest I would kill for that. I have so many ideas for you, you don't even know. Well, we were trying to do some beach house special, and we're looking for a band, and I know Smash Mouth came up, but I think Smash Mouth was like in Europe or something.
2:35 Drew The whole show never came together.
2:37 Guest Well, we'll get it.
2:37 Guest All right.
2:38 Guest That's no yawning. No yawning.
2:40 Adam Adam speaks and it just abhors you.
2:43 Guest Yeah, especially when we talk about the main show.
2:48 Guest Okay, we're moving on.
2:49 Guest Thank you. All right.
2:51 Guest So we just finished the record, actually legally. I mean, I think today.
2:57 Guest Oh, really?
2:58 Guest We literally just, we literally said, it's done, over, finalized, let's mix it, master it.
3:03 Guest But I think it's going to be, it's ready to go.
3:06 Guest Where did you record it? Recorded at Bereswood Studios. Our same producer Eric Valentine recorded the last two records.
3:12 Drew Is that out here?
3:13 Guest Yeah, it's out here. It's often some, it's often Melrose and, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know the way around this thing.
3:23 Drew And what is it, what's different about it or what's the same about it?
3:26 Guest What's better or worse about it? What's worse about it?
3:29 Guest What's better? Whatever.
3:33 Guest I just say better or worse, but what's better about it? Yeah, we're going to play PCP which is a new single and then we're going to play, I'll play you something else off the new record instead of the old stuff. But I can't play you something that's going to be a single. I've got to play you something that's kind of cool and whatever.
3:46 Guest Let's see where it is.
3:47 Guest Well, let's see if I can answer it. Tell us about it. I want to hear something about it. Now, don't even think about playing that song. I will kill whoever just pushed that button right now. No, the record, it's got the Smash Mouth sound, but it's also got a little more rock and stuff on it. It's kind of cool. We're really digging it and I think it's going to be, you've got to click.
4:11 Guest I'm sorry.
4:12 Guest You said you yawned in his show.
4:13 I know.
4:13 Guest I was thinking about that. I was thinking about that.
4:16 Guest My record was.
4:17 I promise.
4:17 Guest Okay.
4:18 Guest Now we're really... I just got...
4:21 Adam You still keep doing my daughter's homework with her.
4:23 Guest I'm like...
4:25 Guest And he has pajamas on, literally.
4:26 Adam Literally.
4:27 Guest He's wearing pajamas with a button up collar polo. Yeah.
4:31 Guest All right.
4:31 Guest That's what he knows. So the record's rocking.
4:33 Guest Wait a minute.
4:34 Guest I thought it was called United We Stand. No, that's the country's version of our record.
4:41 Guest Oh, really?
4:41 Guest I mean, the record's gonna be called Smash Mouth?
4:44 Guest Yeah.
4:45 Guest So that's...
4:45 Guest Under the Ozzy Osbourne.
4:47 Guest That's Ozzy Osbourne, dude.
4:48 Guest No, it's not.
4:49 Guest Wait a minute. Ozzy's record is called United We Stand. No, his is called Down to Earth. This is old. This goes over here.
4:55 No, that's... All right.
4:57 Drew And that's Astral Lounge, right?
4:59 Guest Yeah.
4:59 Do you want to read these things?
5:00 Goodbye.
5:01 I was told.
5:02 Drew That's Ozzy, by the way.
5:04 Guest Ozzy was in here last night.
5:05 Nobody said you were the weakest link. You lost her.
5:08 Guest Does he really? Yeah.
5:09 Guest Yeah.
5:10 All right.
5:10 Guest So what is the name of the CD? It's self-titled like everybody else's record, it's true.
5:15 Guest Okay.
5:15 Guest We just couldn't think of a name. We ran a contest. We had 6,000 kids, no name and name. Nothing sounded good besides Smash Bros. So we just named it that.
5:22 Guest Good.
5:23 Drew I'm going to find out why we have this title there. Ann told me that's what the album was called.
5:29 Guest You and I will be staying out.
5:31 Guest Okay, fine. All right.
5:32 Guest So name that record. Do we want to hear something off it now?
5:36 Guest Yeah. Let's take you to do this.
5:38 Guest Oh, gee, my goodness.
5:42 Guest Yeah.
5:42 Drew Well, I don't think you guys got to worry about anything.
5:48 Guest I swear you I'm coming to this glass. I'm coming for it.
5:51 Drew Listen, I would be overjoyed if someone would give Anderson a good ass kickin.
5:56 Guest I would just be standing there laughing while Steve is dropping an elbow on him off the top rope, getting him into a figure four.
6:03 Drew Oh, nice. Anderson just slapping his hand on the ground, reeling with pain as he cinched up his figure four. I would just be laughing. I'd probably like to smack him with a coffee mug or something while I'm just lying there.
6:16 The world is your oyster. I mean because that's all the world is.
6:19 Guest I know I was kidding when I said that.
6:21 Drew I had to have been kidding.
6:23 Guest Drew, please back me up on this. You can't articulate.
6:26 You can't write a picture.
6:27 Guest You can't write a picture.
6:28 Guest You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture.
6:29 Guest You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture.
6:37 Guest You can't write a picture. You can't write a picture.
6:39 Guest You can't write a picture. Articulate shouldn't be such a tough word, because people must screw that up every day when they're screaming at a people.
6:45 Adam Let's claim the word for you.
6:46 Drew Yes, that's what I'm saying. Too many syllables.
6:50 Guest All right.
6:51 Drew We're going to take some calls.
6:52 Guest That's what we should do. Donna.
6:55 Hi.
6:56 Drew Hey, you're 21.
6:57 Caller Yes, I am. What's up? I have a problem. I guess I'm a bit obsessed with smoking poll, aka giving blow-jumps.
7:12 Guest All right.
7:14 Caller I get depressed if I don't get to do it. Before, I would go maybe a week or two without it, and I fall into a depression, but I didn't know it was that.
7:28 Adam With the same boyfriend or?
7:31 Caller Well, I did have a boyfriend, but we broke up. But it didn't matter because we were pretty open with our relationship and we were seeing other people, and it was okay.
7:42 Guest Right. So you didn't give a blow-jump for two weeks and you got depressed?
7:48 Caller Yes. I didn't know that that was why. My friend Jessica, one of my friends, she's like...
7:55 Guest When you're highly trained mental health professional friends? Yes. Jessica? Jessica said it must be you're not giving up head?
8:01 Caller No, no, no, no.
8:02 Caller She was like, I'm worried about you, because every time we go to a party, I'd wind up in the bathroom or in the bathroom.
8:08 Caller With a guy?
8:09 Caller Yes.
8:09 Guest With a guy?
8:10 Guest So you just basically, you'll suck off anything at a party if that's what you're grabbing?
8:18 Caller Well, not just anything. I mean, I have standards, you know, but like I would go to a party looking for it. Like I would be so happy going to a party knowing I would probably get lucky. Yeah.
8:27 Drew Get lucky. I love the fact that you look at that as getting lucky.
8:32 Guest I mean, I mean, can I ask you a question? Yeah. If you're at a party, I mean, does this happen more than once a night?
8:40 Caller Sometimes on a good night, yeah.
8:42 Guest How many times on a good night?
8:44 Caller Wow. Well, it's happened as many as three times.
8:48 Caller Three different times.
8:49 Guest Aren't you worried about STDs?
8:52 Caller Yeah.
8:52 Caller I got really lucky though.
8:55 Guest Okay.
8:56 Caller Because my friend Jessica, she was worried about me and she's like, I'm worried about you're going to get an STD or something like that. I was like, okay. Well, then I was like, well, maybe she's right. So I've been good for the past three or four months. That's when I realized that that was my problem. I got really depressed and it's like all I can think about. It's kind of harsh.
9:20 Guest Were you sexually abused yourself?
9:23 Caller No, I was never sexually abused. But my past relationship with my boyfriend was those three years. It was my first relationship and he basically told me, I'm not going to be faithful to you. So I don't want you to be faithful to me. And we were kind of like, you know, I've smoked his friend's poles, like all of them.
9:47 Guest You can't say smoke a pole. Can you say something else? I gave oral sex to a friend.
9:52 Drew You gave all of his friends BJs.
9:54 Guest Really?
9:55 Yes.
9:56 Caller But then like I went to the doctor's because I was having like these like massive tension headaches.
10:05 Guest Could her headaches be caused by her palate being shoved up into the bottom part of her brain? We'll explore this.
10:12 Guest Dada?
10:12 Yes?
10:14 Drew So, well, now you broke it up in your boyfriend, right?
10:17 Guest Yes.
10:19 Caller About seven or eight.
10:20 Adam She was sort of explaining that sort of momentum guy going, oh, okay, I'm wrong. We're trying to figure out where you got this sort of proclivity in the first place, where you digested weird go on in your family.
10:30 Caller Well, he's more like you.
10:32 Caller We were very sexual.
10:33 Adam No. Well, how old were you at the time?
10:37 Caller Um, ever since I was 18.
10:41 Guest We're looking for before that time. Before 12.
10:44 Caller No. I mean, I mean, like, when I was younger, I would like, I would do my brother's best friends when I was like four or five.
10:57 Guest But, like-
10:57 Adam But everyone does that, Adam.
10:59 Guest Perfectly, perfectly normal, perfectly healthy. What are you doing here?
11:03 Drew We're looking for something out of the original.
11:05 Guest No, I mean, that's of course around four or five is normal to begin blowing- Four or five?
11:10 Caller Well, yeah, I like being like sexually curious, you know?
11:14 Adam Listen, that is not sexually curious. That is sexual abuse. Four or five year olds do not do that unless an adult has sexualized.
11:24 Guest So somebody got to you.
11:25 Adam That's why you're a sexual compulsive now.
11:28 Caller I don't remember any sexual abuse.
11:32 Guest Well, could there be physical abuse? Or is there some other form of abuse?
11:35 Guest Should we be giving oral sex? Yeah, I know.
11:39 Guest When... I know, but... Are you sure you don't remember?
11:42 Guest Well, she remembers that.
11:43 Guest Are you sure you don't remember somebody else in your family...
11:46 Guest Just remember where it started...
11:47 Guest .doing something to you or making you do something to them when you were a child? Are you sure?
11:52 Caller I'm positive.
11:53 Guest You're positive.
11:54 Caller My mom and my stepdad, they were like... They weren't really discreet about their sexuality. Sometimes, they would have sex in the same room with us or in the back.
12:07 Guest You saw what was going on.
12:08 Adam That's also not good for kids.
12:10 Guest That could lead to your curiosity going, I want to be like mommy.
12:13 Guest Yeah.
12:14 There you go.
12:15 Guest All the seeds are sown right there. Yeah.
12:19 Adam Donnie, you need some treatment for this. This is really going to be a problem for you.
12:23 Guest It is.
12:24 Caller Well, because I went to the doctor for my headaches. He's like, well, you're obviously depressed. So he put me on Selexa and he gave me Vicodin for my headaches because they were like.
12:39 Adam Is there addiction in your family also?
12:41 Caller To say the least.
12:44 Adam Everyone's an addict.
12:44 Guest All right.
12:45 Caller To something, yeah.
12:46 Guest All right. So you got to you got to laugh to life.
12:48 Adam And I'm worried that I don't know that you're an addict, but you certainly have those features.
12:52 Caller Yeah.
12:53 Caller But I haven't taken any of them yet, except for when he sent me home, he gave me some and I haven't taken it.
13:01 Guest This wasn't a psychiatrist you're seeing, right?
13:03 Caller No, it wasn't.
13:04 Adam You really need to see somebody who knows how to handle these situations. This is you got a heavy burden going on here and it needs to be dealt with or your life is going to be filled, filled with chaos.
13:14 Guest And semen.
13:15 Adam And semen and Vicodin.
13:16 Guest And Vicodin. That's good.
13:17 Guest Your life is going to be a river of Selexa, Vicodin, and semen. And chaos. Yes, chaos.
13:23 Caller Ever since I haven't been able to do that, I've kind of reverted or now my addiction is elsewhere. I've been drinking every night.
13:35 Guest How have you not? Why is it? Not BJ season? Well, why have you not been able to do that?
13:41 Caller I'm trying to be good for myself.
13:43 Guest Okay, you're drinking every day.
13:45 Adam Trying to be good, Donna, is like trying to be, trying not to do heroin, see what happens to your speed. It doesn't work like that. You've got to get in a post-it program. You have got to. This is the, you're on a slippery slope here.
13:55 Guest Yeah.
13:56 Drew I'd like to take her biological dad.
13:58 Guest I know the same thing. I know, no, no, you know everything. Slippery slope, chaos, and chaos.
14:05 Guest Yeah, I mean, if a slippery slope should not have a sexual connotation unless you're talking about a river of semen.
14:13 Adam Yeah, after talking to Donna for five minutes, everything had a sexual connotation.
14:16 Guest That's true. That's true.
14:18 Guest Jessica?
14:19 Caller Yes.
14:19 Drew Yeah, we could have turned it on C-Span and laughed our ass off at all the sexual innuendo that was coming through.
14:27 Guest What's up? You're 24.
14:28 Yeah.
14:30 Caller Well, I had been having sex with this guy and we've been trying some new positions and we got into this really good position and I was ready to have an orgasm and I was ready to have an orgasm and I just felt like I had to take a crap and I couldn't go on.
14:47 Adam You felt like you had to or you?
14:49 Caller I felt like I had to, yeah.
14:52 Drew But you didn't actually do it?
14:54 Caller No, I didn't.
14:56 Guest What was the position?
14:59 Caller My feet were over my head.
15:02 Guest Uh-huh.
15:03 Drew And you were on your back?
15:05 Adam Yeah. I'm pushing pretty good there.
15:06 Guest I don't understand how much it feels bad.
15:09 Caller You think that could cause that?
15:10 Guest Yeah. All right.
15:11 Guest A little too much pressure in certain areas.
15:14 Guest Yeah.
15:15 Caller You don't think there's anything else that I can prevent from doing that?
15:18 Adam In other words, you want to find a way to successfully do that?
15:22 Caller Yeah.
15:23 Guest Well, you're on your back, right?
15:25 Drew You put your feet, you put them up behind your ears.
15:28 Caller Yeah.
15:29 Guest And is it-
15:31 Adam She has the Corolla push method for the orgasm.
15:33 Guest You do?
15:34 Guest Is it vigorous sex?
15:37 Caller Yeah. Yeah, it is.
15:39 Guest She's very comfortable talking about this. She's very sick, almost like literally banging the ass out of you. Yeah. I mean almost, right? Why don't you tell them just to go halfway? Why don't you, you know, evacuate yourself before you climb into the sack?
15:56 Guest An animal, she really wants to go. Really?
15:57 Guest Yeah, would you stop the stealing? Even if you did go to the bathroom, would you stop the stealing like you have to go?
16:03 Caller See, I don't know, because this hasn't happened too often.
16:06 Guest Why don't you try to go to the bathroom before, then have the sex behind your ears, and then, right, she would have to go.
16:13 Adam I've never been an animal before, but are you afraid to tell your boyfriend this is what you like?
16:18 Caller No, I'm afraid that I'm embarrassed to tell him about having to take a crap.
16:23 Guest I'm afraid of what she's afraid of.
16:25 Drew Oh, with the S-words.
16:26 Guest Oh, sorry about that.
16:27 Drew Yeah, that's just, yeah, Guy does want to be banging a soft-swirl machine.
16:39 Soft-swirl machine.
16:41 Guest He's all, I just.
16:44 Caller All right, Jessie, you're going to be fine, baby.
16:46 Guest I'll just give you a frosty freeze on your liver.
16:48 Guest You got to freak yourself out.
16:50 Guest How long have you been with your boyfriend?
16:51 Soft-swirl. How long? Two months.
16:56 Adam Two months?
16:57 Yeah.
16:58 Guest Do you want a sugar coming?
16:59 Waffle, waffle, please.
17:06 Adam They are not yet in the fart phase of the relationship.
17:08 Guest It's only two months old.
17:09 Guest Yeah, you got to hold that in. So if you're going to let it go, let it rip.
17:13 Guest All right.
17:13 Drew David, you're 20.
17:15 Guest Yes, I am. What's up?
17:17 Last week on Wednesday, this question is primarily for Dr. Drew. I was attending a concert, Bob Dylan, Happen to Be, and I was standing in the arena area where everybody stands up. There's all these seats around us, and I was looking up at Bob Dylan, and we're pretty close in. I mean, everybody's standing shoulder to shoulder and side by side, and some guy was standing behind me. I didn't notice him until later, until I felt a sharp pain in my back, and this pain was, you know, I've felt it before, but I felt as if it was like a sharp instrument or a sharp needle or something. It just felt a little out of place, and I turned around and the guy was like retracting his hand, or he was putting his hand back in his pocket, and it looked suspicious.
18:09 Adam Like he willfully injected you with something?
18:11 Like he was willfully trying to pierce me or trying to make contact with me or same.
18:17 Guest Maybe he had a boner and he just snapped that well and down.
18:20 Well, no, it didn't feel blunt.
18:21 Guest It felt sharp.
18:23 It felt like something stabbing me.
18:25 Guest Did you bleed?
18:26 Guest Was there a wound?
18:27 Guest Did you bleed?
18:28 I didn't bleed. I just had like a red rash, or not a rash but sort of like a pimple-like thing on my back and it was, I looked, I went directly to the restroom after that and looked on my back and it looked like some kind of.
18:44 Adam People don't normally, normally. I've never heard of the phrase when people sort of recreationally sought out of the people with needles and something like that do.
18:53 Guest Can I say something? Yeah.
18:55 Guest This is me talking to Steve here. It's funny you say that because I've been in situations in concerts and stuff like that.
19:01 Guest Yeah.
19:02 Guest Somebody peeing for you and so on.
19:03 Guest No.
19:04 Adam I can imagine somebody's pocket coming up against you going through.
19:08 Guest I can imagine that.
19:09 Guest I think you could easily be just playing with your head a little bit because I've had sharp pain in certain situations where I'm like- He's playing with his head.
19:16 Guest His head is playing with him.
19:16 Guest Yeah. Where you feel like you have a little pinch or something, like a little scarier, a little awkward pain in your back or somewhere in your body. You're like, well, that felt weird. Then you look around, you're thinking, because automatically he puts two and two together, this guy's moving his hand. You might be a little, I'm not saying paranoid or whatever, but you might be going, this guy could have stabbed me with something.
19:38 Adam That certainly would be much more likely than actually somebody-
19:41 Guest Yeah. You're playing with your head a little bit.
19:43 Adam Think about how many people would witness somebody taking a needle out. That's not an easy thing to do.
19:50 Guest Have you ever had a dream of somebody doing that to you, stabbing you with a needle, chasing you with a needle, or something like that?
19:54 I've had another incident, not a dream, but I was with my friend in Sacramento, and we were standing outside a bar looking in on a band that was playing in the bar, and this guy that was standing to my right, he was, I automatically got the vibe of suspicion on him, and I felt another sharp pain on my side, and I turned and-
20:14 Adam You're sort of paranoid, David.
20:17 He was an Arab guy.
20:19 He was a tall black guy.
20:20 Guest All right.
20:20 Adam Well, listen. You examined your own-
20:25 Guest Well, how long ago was this? I think it's a little fair.
20:27 Adam You do sound a little paranoid there, but here's the big problem I have, is that if you really believe you're exposed to a needle and potentially a dirty needle, have you ever had the hepatitis B vaccine?
20:37 Caller I had that about two years ago.
20:40 Adam All right. So you should be covered for that. You could have been exposed to hepatitis C, and you could have been exposed to HIV. And there is evidence to suggest that antiviral therapy for around the time of a needle stick HIV exposure can be very useful. And it's something that you need to sit down and talk to infectious disease doctors about. I think they might do it, even though it's questionable whether or not it happens.
21:01 Guest I don't think they're going to send them to us. I think they'll send them to us, too. I just think you're kind of playing with your head, because if you said you were at a bar before and you felt the same thing, I mean, I'm not going to say I've had it happen to me, but I can kind of relate to what you're doing because I've had weird situations where I felt a weird pain, like somebody was poking you with something and you might be in the public, or you might be around a group of people where that happens. And then all of a sudden you're thinking, oh, wait a minute, somebody just stabbed me with something. So you could automatically put, you know, just start playing with your head. I would kind of just, I'd look into it, but I wouldn't, you know, maybe stay away of, you know, maybe stay away from large groups of people.
21:41 Guest I don't get it this way.
21:42 Guest Look, if you die of AIDS, it was God's will. Michelle, God love you.
21:49 Guest He's ever paranoid of me.
21:50 Guest Michelle, you're 26.
21:52 Caller Yeah.
21:52 Guest What's up?
21:53 Caller Well, I've been with a new boyfriend for probably a month and a half. And the last like four times we've had sex, I've been getting a strange headache. Just like, just as I'm getting ready to have an orgasm. I don't, I don't know why. I don't know if it's that there could be some physiological explanation for this or.
22:14 Adam Where's the headache?
22:15 Caller It's actually on the right side of my head.
22:17 Guest Do you have a history of migraines?
22:18 Caller No, never had that before.
22:19 Adam Anybody in your family have migraines?
22:20 Caller No.
22:21 Drew Is he flogging you with his penis?
22:23 Guest That's one of my, that's one of my power moves.
22:25 Guest Nice, goodness.
22:27 Adam Is it overwhelming?
22:28 Guest You have to stop? That kind of thing?
22:29 Caller No, I mean, I could almost stop, but I've kind of been just trying to ignore it because.
22:34 Guest All right, hold on. We got to take a break here.
22:36 Guest You guys ever do that penis flog move?
22:38 Guest Come on. You do that little, little tap thing? You know, come on. You just whack them around a little.
22:44 Guest Hey, this is why I was together with Michelle. I was in a rock band.
22:47 Guest Yeah, you did that penis flogging.
22:48 Drew It's a nice move.
22:49 Guest It's a real power move, that flogging with the penis.
22:52 I've grown up mainly since.
22:54 Guest We're going to commercial. We'll be back. Back to Loveline, on KSMA.
23:18 Adam If we get paid the same amount, do I have to cover you constantly?
23:22 Caller Imagine that.
23:24 Guest Really, Anderson, can you believe we get paid the same amount?
23:26 Guest What?
23:27 Guest Shocking.
23:28 Guest Once in a blue moon, Drew gets just retarded enough to waive his medical degree in front of me when I announced how absurd it is that we both get paid the same amount.
23:38 He says, I'm a doctor.
23:40 Thank God for Dr. Drew.
23:42 Guest I hope you're not Dr. Adam.
23:44 Guest I don't see a doctor in front of your name, Mr. P.
23:46 Drew I've had eight years of college training, and you say it's a travesty that we get paid the same, and I always say, what do I say to you, Drew?
23:56 Adam Who gets paid more? Surgeon General or Jerry Seinfeld?
24:01 Guest See, here's my point.
24:03 Adam You even butcher that. I know.
24:04 Drew You can't even say Jerry Seinfeld.
24:06 Adam I know.
24:07 Drew So who makes more, you or Jerry Seinfeld?
24:09 Guest Jerry Seinfeld. There you go. You're a genius.
24:12 Guest Speaking of geniuses.
24:14 Guest This is Blink 182.
24:16 Drew Mark Hobbis is here tonight from Blink 182. He's a tall, rangy fellow. Sort of has that boy next door.
24:25 Guest What's rangy?
24:27 Adam He used the F word a lot when he got off stage.
24:30 Drew Rangy is good. It means you get to a lot of balls other people wouldn't get to.
24:36 Guest Oh, okay. Cool.
24:38 Guest I was thinking about the F word comment and trying to figure out why exactly that is. What do they say, like, obscenity is the lack of wit or something like that?
24:48 Guest What's the thing?
24:48 Adam Clannabes all the time.
24:49 Guest Well, I kind of hope they don't say that.
24:53 Drew I know brevity has something to do with something, but yes, it means you're stupid and you have nothing else to say. If you just make jack-off jokes and fart jokes like I do, but I got two hours and nights to screw all you. Five million copies sold from Enema of the State, which is Loveline's last CD.
25:12 I don't believe that.
25:14 Drew I mean, not that you guys aren't a good band, but you're such a bunch of jack-offs. It's just serious commercial success with screwballs.
25:25 Guest I mean, the band's great.
25:27 Drew You guys are great musicians. The sound is great. But three guys shouldn't be able to sell five million records.
25:34 Guest Definitely not us three guys, that's for sure.
25:37 Drew I know this sounds trite, but did you ever think five million on your last CD?
25:41 Guest Not at all. I mean, when we were recording Enema of the State, I remember everyone was like, Oh my God, how are you ever possibly top the success of Dude Ranch? Because Dude Ranch had gone gold.
25:49 Guest Right.
25:50 Guest And we were like, you know, we're never going to be as big as Dude Ranch. That was like, we thought that was going to be our, like our swan song. We were done after that.
25:56 Guest But you know.
25:58 Drew Well, how many how many did you sell Dude Ranch?
26:01 Guest Dude Ranch probably went platinum.
26:02 Drew But that's still selling, right?
26:04 Guest Yeah, still selling.
26:05 Drew I mean, I mean, people knew Blink 182, but I can imagine when Enema of the State came out, there's a certain percentage of people who went back. In Dude Ranch, right?
26:15 Guest Right.
26:16 Drew And I don't think that's going to happen with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, by the way, because I think the word's out on Blink. If you want to know about consistency in attire, take a look at this picture that was just here.
26:29 Two weeks ago.
26:30 Guest Two weeks ago.
26:33 Two weeks ago.
26:36 Caller It describes the scene here.
26:38 Adam Adam is holding a picture of he and I.
26:40 Guest And Ron Lester.
26:41 Adam And Ron Lester, when Ron was in here ten days ago.
26:44 Drew It could have been three weeks.
26:46 Guest I don't know.
26:46 Adam Adam is holding it up next to himself now to show the fact that the clothing he was wearing on that night is precisely exactly the same.
26:54 Guest Same t-shirt, same jacket, everything.
26:56 Drew Just like James Dean, except for I only wear free craft people give me. Steven?
27:02 Yeah.
27:02 Drew You're 17?
27:03 Caller Yep. What's up?
27:05 Guest First I want to say hi to Blink.
27:06 Caller They're awesome. Well, thank you.
27:08 Drew And my friend, Yves, I think you're just like his idols.
27:11 Guest Oh, well, I'm sorry.
27:14 Caller I was just curious.
27:15 Guest I've heard a lot that Mountain Dew actually shrinks your Peter and I didn't know if that's true.
27:20 Caller Yeah, I doubt that's true.
27:23 Guest Really?
27:23 Guest I don't see how.
27:24 Guest You can't use that as an excuse.
27:26 Caller Yeah.
27:27 Drew How much dew are you doing?
27:30 I don't know, three a day.
27:31 Drew Yeah. As you know, I've been on record as describing Mountain Dew as the nectar of the tards until I was yelled at by a program director who said they spend a lot on advertising. Yes, and that they're owned by Tapsie and that I can never say that again, so I won't do that. But Stephen, I really have a plan to save the world, which is to put a sterilization agent in Mountain Dew that if you drink more than let's say a six or a week, you will go sterile.
28:01 Adam You won't drink a million of those, but it will knock you out.
28:03 Drew Those people will not be able to reproduce and will be living in a utopia inside of two generations. Okay, well Stephen, just on the off chance that psychologically you think it shrinks your penis, don't you want to get away from it?
28:16 Guest Yeah, I have to do.
28:17 Guest All right, everybody, step up to coffee now.
28:20 Drew All right.
28:20 Guest All right, good times.
28:21 Drew Thanks.
28:23 Guest Mike.
28:25 Caller What's up?
28:25 Guest You're 22.
28:27 Guest Yes, how's it going, guys?
28:28 Caller Good.
28:30 Guest I just like to tell you guys that I always watch or listen to your show on the way home from work. I commute like about an hour home and you guys keep me awake. It's pretty cool.
28:37 Guest I like it.
28:39 Guest Also, I am currently drinking Mountain Dew and I really hope that that's not true because I've been drinking it for a good while.
28:45 Drew Do you have one in your hand right now?
28:47 Guest I have a 20-ounce Mountain Dew in my hand that I have almost finished with.
28:50 Caller Josh, sorry about the neck there, Mike.
28:53 Guest It sounds like it rubs the lotion on its skin.
28:57 Guest It sounds like a lamp.
29:01 Drew Get Back In The Hole. It should get back in the hole.
29:05 Guest Hi, Mike.
29:05 Drew What do you do for a living that you're commuting so long every night?
29:08 Guest Actually, I have two jobs. I work in Austin, Texas. I work at a halfway house and then I work at a dance club.
29:17 Drew Drew, are there any full houses or are they all half houses?
29:19 Adam Halfway houses.
29:20 Drew What does that mean?
29:21 Adam Halfway out of the world.
29:23 Drew I see. Are there any quarter or three-quarter houses?
29:26 Adam I'd like that.
29:26 Guest We don't have those yet.
29:27 Drew Actually, they do.
29:28 Caller They do.
29:29 Guest They have quarter houses?
29:30 Guest They have three-quarter houses and it's like depending on how much freedom they get.
29:34 Drew Oh, really? I see. What do you do over there?
29:38 Guest Mic up vomit?
29:39 Guest No, man. I'm like a monitor. That's what they call it.
29:42 Drew I see.
29:42 Guest It's a nice way of saying security. All right.
29:44 Drew Do you have a question, Mike? Yeah.
29:46 Guest Actually, lately, I've been having a lot of trouble with the females and it's been brought to my attention. This last girl that I was kind of dating, she said one thing that I've never been told before that I have too many needs. And actually, she said, you're always asking me how I feel about you. You know what I'm saying?
30:09 Drew Yeah, you're insecure.
30:10 Guest Yeah, it's not needs.
30:11 Guest That's, yeah, that's... Clean. Scared. Is it true that she's a male?
30:17 Adam Yeah, I was going to say.
30:17 Guest Clean it up with you.
30:18 Adam The women do not like that, Mike.
30:20 Guest Man, this is crazy because like, it's like the whole boomerang thing, it's the opposite because this girl, she came to me, you know, she was like all like, you know, I think you're... She met me at the club, of course, so I'm looking pretty, you know... Right.
30:35 Drew You've got the gold chain outside of the collar that's buttoned all the way up.
30:39 Adam No, wait, no, no, I can see.
30:40 Guest Is she dancing at the club? Yes, I'm saying.
30:42 Guest No, I'm a door guy.
30:43 Guest I see.
30:44 Drew Okay.
30:45 Guest So anyways, she's like, you know, like, this is what she told me, she's like, when I first met you, you're like smooth and suave, you had it together. As soon as we started dating, it was like... I mean, I remember.
30:58 Drew Anyway, you tell her when I first met you, you weren't so brutally goddamn honest. Jesus Christ.
31:03 Guest I'm not honest.
31:06 Guest That's the idea of a human being.
31:07 Guest That's her thing.
31:08 Drew Break up with her, Rico.
31:10 Guest Man, I'm not even with her no more.
31:12 Guest Okay. Don't worry about it. You see, Mike's one of these guys.
31:15 Drew This is why women hate men. You know what I mean?
31:19 Adam No.
31:19 Drew You know how women, most women, scare the guys and complain about guys?
31:24 Adam He's the nice guy, though.
31:25 Drew Yeah, but everything he does is done to impress. And I don't think women are getting his vibe. He's just doing all the things he thinks they want to see or hear.
31:36 Guest I'm not going to fall for that.
31:38 Drew No, they're way too smart.
31:39 Guest You know why?
31:40 Drew Because they work off scent. That's what women do. They sniff you out like a dog. They don't when you're scared.
31:45 Guest Doesn't matter what kind of show you put on. Margaret? Yeah. You're 15? Yeah. What's up?
31:51 Caller Hey, hey, who is this?
31:54 Guest Who's this?
31:55 Caller Oh, my God, Adam, I thought you were like the people that work, you know, that.
31:58 Drew All right. Yeah, the little people.
32:01 Caller Yeah, I'm sorry.
32:02 Guest That's all right.
32:03 Caller I can't believe I'm on.
32:04 Guest Yeah.
32:04 Drew And you're on with Mark from Blink 182, too.
32:06 Guest I know.
32:07 Caller That's why I called, Mark.
32:08 Guest Yeah.
32:08 Caller This is like so cool. I'm like the biggest Blink 182 fan in the world. You do not know.
32:13 Well, thank you.
32:14 Caller And even though Tom's not there, Tom's the reason I started the guitar. And even though Travis isn't there, my sister Helen, who's right here, like waving at me, that's the reason Travis is the reason she started playing the drums. And I was in the Riviera show. It's the Riviera Theater in Chicago.
32:28 Oh, cool.
32:29 Caller And you have a sexy stomach.
32:32 Guest He's hot. He knows it. Hey, I've been off touring for a long time.
32:35 Guest We just started touring again.
32:36 Guest Man, I'm I'm fat as hell.
32:38 Guest I'm sorry.
32:39 Caller No, it was it was endearing.
32:42 Guest I weigh the most now.
32:43 Guest I've ever weighed my life.
32:43 Guest I weigh 215.
32:45 Yeah, that's a side of beef.
32:47 Drew But you're one of these guys who puts it on everywhere.
32:51 Guest Yeah, he looks good.
32:53 Guest So do you have some kind of sexual dysfunction or problem we can make fun of?
32:56 Caller Well, no, actually, I have a question for Adam and Drew. But it's not like a sexual question. Adam and Drew, you guys, I was just wondering, I know this is kind of a stupid question, but I've been wondering this for a while. But you guys, when you guys were on the show, you sort of had this sort of like vibe, like you didn't like each other. And then when you're on the radio, you guys sound like you like best friends. And I'm just wondering, when you guys first met, like when Adam first came to the show, what did you think of him, Dr. Drew?
33:22 Guest Be honest.
33:23 Same thing as now.
33:26 Adam And on television, we were getting direction. And the direction was, Adam, you're the funny guy. Drew, you're the serious guy. Now, go.
33:34 Drew Yeah. They didn't tell us to fight, did they?
33:36 Adam No, but we would, though. They were yelling at my ears. Hi.
33:40 Caller But like, what did you really think of him, like, when he first met?
33:42 Drew Oh, he knows. He doesn't know.
33:44 Adam No, I remember. You do? Because he's this big of an asshole. No, I thought this was a smart guy who was funny and who gave me enough room to do what I needed to do and that was important to me.
33:55 Caller Right. And Adam, what did you think of Drew?
33:57 Drew I've been listening to Drew on Loveline, on K-Rock out here in Los Angeles for years, so I already knew him. I mean, I was excited to meet him, but I already felt like I knew him.
34:08 Caller Okay.
34:09 Drew And he's the same guy on the air as he is off the air, maybe even more boring off the air.
34:14 Caller And Adam, the world is your oyster thing? Yeah. You got to put more in the, because that's all there is.
34:23 The world is your oyster. I mean, because that's all the world is.
34:27 Caller That's all there is. Yeah.
34:28 Guest I got to hit all?
34:30 Caller Yeah.
34:30 Guest Okay.
34:31 Drew Thanks. Are you writing a paper or something? No.
34:34 Guest Okay.
34:34 Drew Well, leave us alone, then.
34:35 Guest Please.
34:37 Drew Jesus Christ. Rachel?
34:39 Caller Yeah.
34:40 Drew You're 15?
34:40 Caller Yeah.
34:41 Drew What's up?
34:42 First, I want to say I've been listening to the show for a while.
34:44 Caller It's really awesome. And I, you know, she's so proud because I am the biggest Blink fan. I seriously am.
34:49 Thank you.
34:50 Caller Yeah. Okay. Anyways, my question, it has to do with marijuana and the effect that it has on you.
34:57 Right.
34:57 Caller Like, I don't, my short-term memory is just gone.
35:00 Right.
35:01 Caller I have the worst short-term memory and I have to smoke at least every night before bed, otherwise I can't get to sleep. And the nights that I don't have it, I'll either drink or I'll scrape my pipe and try to smoke the little bit of resin that I have.
35:16 Drew Well, you're 15, that's perfectly natural, perfectly healthy.
35:19 Adam It turns out that in the studies, some studies that the effect on the brain, the actual biological effect is more profound under the age of 16. So the fact that you're having the memory problems and whatnot, no surprise. Also mood disturbances and panic.
35:31 Drew What do you drink when you have to drink?
35:34 Caller Well, usually I can get a couple of beers, you know, but sometimes if my parents have hard alcohol, I'll make like a screwdriver or something.
35:41 Adam Wow.
35:41 Guest How do you get beers when you're 15 and you live at home? How do you drink beers before you go to bed?
35:45 Caller Well, my parents are kind of messed up too. And my dad's on like an antidepressant and so he'll take those and not eat and drink like 12 beers.
35:53 Drew Right.
35:53 Adam He's an alcoholic though and the antidepressants aren't going to do anything to him until he gets that alcoholism treatment.
35:57 Caller Yeah, and well, he drinks so much, you know, he blacks out so he doesn't remember how much he drank. And my mom's kind of the same way so it's easy to get away with three or four beers.
36:06 Adam Where's my bourbon?
36:07 Drew Well, you've got the groundwork laid for some alcoholism, baby.
36:12 Adam Yeah.
36:12 You're right on time.
36:14 Adam She's a marijuana addict and she's already in.
36:16 Drew So you got to make a move.
36:17 Guest So you can be addicted to marijuana for real because everybody says marijuana is not addictive.
36:21 Caller No, no, you have no idea. I've been smoking it for two years and that just say no crap is not true because I remember I tried to say no all night and-
36:30 Drew Could be true. He said no.
36:31 Guest It sounds like it's true.
36:32 Adam No, but Rachel, tell them about what was like the first time you really got high on it.
36:37 Caller When was the first time?
36:39 Drew Drew, why don't you tell us how she felt?
36:42 Adam The people that are addicts have this extremely powerful response to the drug. They love it. It's the greatest thing ever. When you just had that experience, you wake up the next day looking for the drug. The next day, and the next day, and the next day. When they try to stop, they can't. They cannot stop. That's what addiction is. You can stop or you can't. You can stop, you're not an addict. You can't stop, you need help, that's addiction. We know a lot about the biology then.
37:04 Caller It's also led to other things. Sometimes I've done other drugs.
37:07 Guest Like what?
37:09 Caller I've done LSD a couple of times.
37:11 Drew Where do you get your weed at 15? Who scores it for you?
37:14 Caller I live in the biggest donor town in the whole United States. I swear to God, everybody and their mother smoke it.
37:20 Guest What do you do?
37:22 Guest What town is that?
37:23 Caller Sonoma. It's a little bit from San Francisco.
37:26 Drew Tell that up north stuff, Humboldt and all that good stuff. Hey, Rachel, where do you get the money?
37:33 Caller Actually I have a job and it has gotten me into debt. I'm really in debt right now and I'm being screwed over.
37:39 Drew Okay, well it's time to get some help, right?
37:41 Caller Yeah, I know.
37:42 Adam You will not stop without help, Rachel. And your memory will come back.
37:46 Caller It will.
37:47 Adam Yeah, take up to 12 months but usually about 6 months comes back real nicely. But you got to stop everything. And you will not be able to do that without some help.
37:56 Guest So what should you do?
37:57 Adam Go to MA.,
37:58 Guest go to AA.,
37:59 Adam go to meeting, call a program, get involved.
38:01 Guest Do they really have marijuana anonymous?
38:03 Guest Oh, yeah.
38:03 Adam Marijuana is the most common drug of addiction I treat right now.
38:06 Drew Really?
38:06 Adam Absolutely. Very common.
38:08 Drew Mark, how did you score beer when you were 15 or 16? Let's see.
38:13 Guest I don't remember. I remember we had a case of beer that me and my friends kept for a long time and then we drank it and it had gone bad by that point. We actually hit it out in the forest in Virginia and then we snuck out one night and then drank it and it had been sitting in the forest in the sun for a long time and we all got really sick.
38:29 Drew And I hope you learned a lesson.
38:31 Guest Yeah.
38:32 Drew You know what? Did you? Do you still drink?
38:35 Guest I never drank beer after that ever.
38:36 Drew Really?
38:37 Guest I hate the taste of beer. I can't even stand it now.
38:39 Guest Oh, wow.
38:41 Drew Do that with the kids.
38:42 Guest Bury a sixer of malt liquor out in the yard.
38:46 Drew I used to do that thing where I went to the liquor store and got the older dude who drove the El Camino, looked cool, usually named Kurt to go in and score for us. And it was always, you know, the first ten guys who walked in the liquor store would turn you down. But then that one guy who kind of sympathized with your plight would go in there and you'd give him ten bucks. And he'd come back with a five pack of Mickey's in no change. And he was like a foot and a half taller. And you couldn't really say anything. What are you going to do, call the cops on him?
39:14 Guest Yeah.
39:15 Guest I feel so weird because all the other store kids will do that to me. And I don't know what to say.
39:20 Guest I don't want to go to jail for you little guys getting drunk.
39:22 Drew Oh, really?
39:23 Guest You've been asked to do that?
39:25 Guest I've been hit up.
39:26 I've dodged it fully.
39:27 Adam I wonder if you give money to the Man Show. We're buying for the Man Show Boy.
39:30 Drew Oh, yeah. We have the Man Show Boy buying beer this season. And it was last season.
39:36 Guest I think it was last season.
39:37 Adam Angela?
39:38 Caller Hi.
39:39 Guest You're 16?
39:40 Caller Yeah.
39:40 Adam What's up?
39:41 I just had to call because three of my most favorite people in the world are in the same room together. And it's like, oh my god, Adam, you're like a freaking genius.
39:50 And if you had your own religion, I'd be your first follower, right?
39:54 Guest Oh, yeah?
39:55 Drew I'm thinking about that.
39:56 Guest Yeah.
39:57 And Mark, you're like, oh my god, you're my favorite band.
40:00 And you know, Tommy Shatties, too.
40:02 And you don't know how much your music has helped me. You guys are like such an inspiration.
40:08 Cool.
40:08 Adam Thank you.
40:09 Drew Did you have a question?
40:10 Well, I was wondering like, is it safe to have like sex both ways, like anally and vaginally at the same time?
40:21 Adam Two guys?
40:22 Drew Two different penises.
40:23 Guest How old are you?
40:24 Sixteen.
40:25 Guest Wow.
40:26 Guest The world is a different place from when I was 16.
40:28 Adam I didn't understand that was even something that people can see.
40:30 Caller Is it possible?
40:32 I was just curious.
40:34 Caller I was thinking about it.
40:36 Caller Can you like die or something?
40:39 Adam Not exactly a healthy maneuver.
40:41 Guest Don't sneeze while you're doing it.
40:42 Adam In your porn collection there must be examples of this.
40:44 Drew There's some of that double penetration stuff. I'll tell you who could die, your dad, if he walked in.
40:50 Guest He'd have a stroke. Well, I'll walk in.
40:51 Adam I just knew about it.
40:53 Guest I found out about it in some way.
40:54 Drew Oh my God.
40:56 Guest At a thousand deaths.
40:57 Drew Who's asked you to kick first if you're the dad? You've got to go anal first, right?
41:01 Guest You hang yourself. Yeah, definitely.
41:03 Drew Definitely.
41:03 Guest If you walk in and your daughter's having two dudes in two different places, definitely the anal one gets asked to kick first. Right.
41:10 Drew And then you go vaginal.
41:11 Guest Yeah.
41:12 Drew And then if there's an oral guy around, you go after him. But that's third. That's after anal and vaginal.
41:17 Guest Hey, don't do that, please. Please don't do that.
41:21 Okay.
41:22 Guest Wait at least until you're in college. Right. You have to save something for junior college.
41:28 Drew Do you have a boyfriend?
41:29 Yeah.
41:30 Guest Does he have a best friend?
41:32 Yeah.
41:32 Guest Okay.
41:33 Drew Is he bucking for this?
41:35 No.
41:36 Adam Good.
41:36 No, he wouldn't hate to, but I was just thinking about it.
41:39 Adam Don't.
41:39 Drew Yeah.
41:40 Adam No, no. No, no, no, no.
41:41 So, it's not possible?
41:42 Adam Oh, it's possible, but don't go down that path, please.
41:45 Drew I command you to only consume one penis at a time.
41:51 Caller Only because you said so.
41:52 Drew All right. Otherwise, your head will grow in the ground like an onion.
41:56 Right.
41:56 Guest Yeah. All right.
41:57 Drew Mark's here from Blink 182. We're going to take ourselves a little break, and we'll be back after this.
42:28 Guest It's Loveline.
42:31 Drew I'm Adam. That's Dr. Drew. Over there. Mark is here from Blink 182. You know what Mark's doing right now?
42:41 Adam He's eating and chatting.
42:42 Drew Oh, you want to go get him or?
42:44 Adam He's a big star.
42:45 Drew Really?
42:46 Adam Here he comes.
42:47 Drew Oh, here he comes. That's all right.
42:50 Adam Oh, yeah.
42:51 Drew Culver City PD came out here.
42:53 Guest Wow. Yeah.
42:54 Drew The Blink fans. They must be Blink fans. They're cool.
42:57 Guest They're here for us.
42:58 Guest They can't be. They kicked the crap out of Adam right there.
43:00 Drew You know what my take on cops is? You're either the best buddy or you're on their last nerve. You're either beating the ass out of you or giving you your dime bag back and telling you get out of here.
43:17 Guest Go run along now.
43:18 Drew I've had that in my life. Not much. I don't meet too many cops that are just sort of indifferent. They either decide they hate me or they love me. But not a lot down the middle.
43:29 Guest Right. That's true. I never thought about that. But that is totally true.
43:33 Drew You have an experience with a cop. It's either like, Son of a bitch. Jesus Christ. I got to load my car with fertilizer and drive it into the precinct. I'm going to kill those guys and freak out. It's either that or that dude was cool. That dude was mellow.
43:49 Guest He just told me that if I ever were speeding, that he wouldn't give me a ticket. He let me go.
43:53 Drew Now he's got to give me one. But he said not to say that on the air, right?
43:58 Guest No. He said I could tell everybody and everybody gets a free pass tonight.
44:03 Guest You know what's funny?
44:04 Drew We all have that one guy we know who's in law enforcement. I got my cousin Dave or distant cousin Dave, and he's a, he, he, Dave Ferdy. He's like a sheriff about 300 miles away. Every time I get pulled over, I'm going to be, you know, LAPD. I'm like, you know, my cousin Dave Ferdy.
44:28 Caller No.
44:30 Drew Where is he? He's with the San Gabriel Sheriff's Department. Maybe I heard of him. He works the desk. Like, you can kind of get the feeling it's like, you know, they should all know each other and you should drop an aim and they should go, Oh, Ferdy, he's great. Yeah.
44:46 Guest You're a friend of his.
44:47 Drew Get out of here. Here, you want my gun?
44:50 Guest Get out of here. You're great.
44:52 Drew Kevin?
44:53 Yeah.
44:54 Drew You're 13?
44:55 Caller Yeah.
44:55 Drew You are?
44:56 Caller Hey guys, Blank. Oh my God.
44:57 Caller I'm like your biggest fan ever.
44:59 Guest Well, thank you, Kevin.
45:01 Caller I'm going to the Coors Amphitheater show.
45:02 Caller I just feel like that's the best thing for me.
45:04 Guest Awesome. Well, hey, we're going to say some words up on stage that you might not be familiar with and you might need to discuss them with your parents afterwards.
45:11 Drew They use the F word a lot these days.
45:12 Guest A lot.
45:14 Caller Okay.
45:15 Guest I have two questions actually.
45:17 Caller Okay. I have two questions actually.
45:19 Guest First one is, what is your favorite video like? What was the best video that you think you ever made?
45:24 Guest I think actually I like our newest one the best. I think it represents us how we really are and we're not actually like total idiots in it. It was just a fun video to make. It was our idea with another guy and we just brought it together.
45:38 Adam We had a team of technical people.
45:39 Guest Yeah, a team from Lucas Films. But it was just a fun time to do and we just blew a bunch of cash and we got to hang out with our friends and film it.
45:46 Caller Yeah.
45:47 Caller I love the part, strippers mowing the lawn.
45:48 Guest That's right.
45:49 Caller Yeah.
45:50 Caller Good time.
45:51 Adam You said two questions.
45:51 Guest Is that it?
45:52 Caller No.
45:53 Caller I want to know, why did you name your album Take Off Your Passion Jacket?
45:56 Adam You're gay.
45:59 Guest Hey, seriously. No, honestly, you are gay. We just thought it was a funny title. In a few years, once your body starts to develop in ways that you might not know about, then it will make a lot more sense then.
46:11 Drew Right. And so will Anima of the State.
46:15 Guest That's a few more years even beyond that.
46:17 Drew All right, Kevin.
46:18 Caller Okay. Thank you.
46:18 Drew Thank you. Diana?
46:20 Oh my God. Am I on?
46:22 Drew You're on. Yes.
46:23 Oh my God, you guys. I'm, I'm shaking. Okay. Like I'm a first time caller, right?
46:29 Caller Oh my God.
46:30 Okay. I was just kidding. My question is fake, but I just want to say, Adam, I love you and Mark, you're so hot and I want to make a shout out to all my friends.
46:40 Guest All right.
46:42 Guest I love it when you guys do that.
46:44 But you know, I.
46:45 Drew All right. All right, Diana, that's enough out here.
46:48 Guest I love it when you hang up on people. I think that's the best radio there is.
46:52 Guest Really?
46:53 Guest Yeah, I honestly do. I think it's so funny.
46:54 Guest I love it.
46:55 Drew I enjoy it too. People tell me not to do it, but I really enjoy it. It really gives me a sense of power. Yeah.
47:02 Guest Carrie?
47:03 Drew Yeah. You're 15? Oh, hey. Hey, see ya.
47:06 Caller Yeah.
47:08 Drew You see that, Mark?
47:09 Adam What happened? He missed it.
47:11 Caller Do we hang up on another person?
47:12 Drew Yeah, we're going to.
47:13 Oh, I missed it.
47:13 Drew All right, we're going to take ourselves a little break.
47:16 1-800-LOVE-191.
47:56 Drew Yeah, this would work as my theme too.
48:00 Who is this?
48:01 Drew Pennywise.
48:02 Adam Oh boy, our buddy.
48:03 Drew Yeah. Okay. Speaking of our buddies, hey, wait a minute. This is the best of Loveline. This is our number two. And our next guest is a thought-provoking performer. Anything to add to that, Drew? You gave a little, you gave a little sigh. It was like you were going to say something.
48:23 Adam No, I was just thinking of, no.
48:24 Drew You thought maybe you would just fake me out.
48:25 Adam I was faking you out and I was just thinking about your genius and the fruit in the middle and the various other amazing inventions you had and the little jeans with the panty lines sewn in. And songs about fruit in the middle. It's just kind of extraordinary. You're already ready to market these things.
48:39 Drew Yep, yep, I could be a millionaire ten times over. So everybody, this is a guy who was our next guest who was smart enough to actually put one of those coiled operated photo booths in his living room.
48:51 Adam Anyone that came into his house had to step in. If they came in they agreed to be photographed.
48:57 Drew That's right.
48:57 This is Dave Navarro.
48:59 Caller Dr. Drew's got a page. He's wanted an OR.
49:01 Drew Unacceptable.
49:02 Adam Thank you.
49:03 Drew Unacceptable.
49:04 Adam If you're wondering where that delightful, those delightful tones are they'll be here in a second. There's a lot of traffic. I guess he got stuck in some of that traffic.
49:11 Caller Adam's in traffic?
49:12 Adam You know, I can easily, we can easily sit here and abuse him, but in the reality-
49:16 Caller No, I just wanted to say hello. I'm sure he's listening, right?
49:18 Adam You can say hi to him, but the reality is he is essentially never late. Never early, but never late.
49:23 Caller Well, from what I understand, you guys walk in right as the clock's going to hit 10.
49:27 Adam He, he, I'm walking in at 20 minutes.
49:29 I'm going to prepare myself.
49:31 Adam Can you imagine we get paid the same for this show?
49:33 Guest Can you imagine?
49:34 Caller Shocking. Can you imagine?
49:35 Guest Shocking. All right.
49:37 Adam Should we go to some calls? Do you have anything else you want to talk about?
49:39 Caller Not at all. I'd love to go to some calls.
49:40 Adam All right. Let's do calls.
49:41 Caller Here we go.
49:43 Adam Let's talk to, hang on. I'm looking around here. Talk to the, what you want to, Venmo? No, no, no. The web foot guy. All right. First, Corey, 22. Corey, this one's easy. Corey?
49:53 Guest Yeah.
49:54 Adam Hey, what's going on?
49:54 Guest Hey, Corey.
49:56 Guest I got, the other day I was ejaculated and I had blood in my semen and it's tripping out.
50:02 Adam Nice.
50:02 Caller Could be a number of things.
50:04 Adam Could be a number of things, Dave.
50:04 Guest I care to...
50:05 Caller Well, have you suffered a groin injury recently?
50:07 Adam No. Have you had blood in your semen?
50:09 Guest Yeah.
50:10 Adam Wait, wait. Hold on. Hold on here.
50:11 Guest Hey. Hold on.
50:12 Adam You want to talk about it?
50:14 Caller Yeah. It was a bicycle injury. You know, you fall off, you know, with the bar underneath the seat. It's nice testicles.
50:21 Guest Pretty good.
50:22 Adam Good times. There are a number of things. And interestingly, most of the things that cause blood in the semen are not serious.
50:28 Guest Okay.
50:29 Adam But they do. It does need to be kind of looked into because very occasionally it can't be.
50:33 Guest Oh, hey, here's Adam.
50:37 Adam Hold on a second.
50:38 Guest Hold on.
50:40 Drew Hey, I was listening. You did a very yeoman's type job of getting things going.
50:46 Guest Like Dave's stuff.
50:47 Drew The show started. Not making too big a deal out of me being like.
50:51 Caller Did you hear the nice do? Did you hear hello from the car?
50:54 Guest Dave said hello.
50:55 Drew I was in my car. I thought, how ironic.
50:57 Adam Are you high?
50:58 Drew No.
50:58 Adam You're extra high.
51:00 Caller You're extra happy tonight.
51:01 Drew Well, why shouldn't I be happy? I got the world by the tail. I've got a partner who cares enough to sit down and start the show. Dave Navarro is here.
51:09 Adam Yeah, it's good night.
51:10 Caller And a guy with blood in his semen.
51:11 Guest That's right.
51:12 Caller What more do you need?
51:13 Guest Corey?
51:13 Adam Makes the night complete.
51:15 Drew Yeah, yeah. You know, this is more common than you would think.
51:18 Guest Did you say that, Drew?
51:19 Yes, yes.
51:19 Guest And Dave had it.
51:21 Oh, really?
51:21 Adam Yeah, Dave had it. And he had it from falling on the bar on the bike seat, you know, on your bicycle. Smashing the testes.
51:28 Caller There was a lot of bruising.
51:29 Drew What year was that?
51:31 Caller That was 1986.
51:33 Adam We mentioned those were good times. But there are other things. Anything that basically causes broken vessels in that area can do this. And, you know, very occasionally tumors and things. But the bottom line is that something needs to be checked out but not something to freak out about. Sam is 16.
51:48 Caller Yeah, two days ago my girlfriend told me she had a foot fetish and I have webbed feet.
51:53 Adam This is a day one of this one.
51:55 Caller It's a match made in heaven it sounds like.
51:57 Caller Well, not really. I mean my toes aren't really webbed. It's just two in the middle.
52:02 Caller I had a girlfriend with a similar attribute I suppose. They were connected.
52:08 Caller I don't know what I should do about that because I never saw a doctor about it.
52:10 Adam No, wait a minute. Do you know if she finds your feet attractive or unattractive?
52:14 Caller No, I haven't showed it to her. I just told her about them.
52:16 Adam What did she do? Recoil in horror?
52:18 Caller No, she wanted to see them actually.
52:20 Caller Were you showing to her?
52:21 Caller No, not yet.
52:22 Drew Wait a minute. There is something I don't understand. I like boobs but if a girl told me her boobs were fused together down the middle, it wouldn't make me more attracted to her.
52:32 Adam Unless they were huge.
52:33 Caller I am kind of self-conscious about it.
52:34 Caller But would it make you less attracted to her?
52:36 Drew Probably, yeah.
52:37 Adam But wait a minute. Basically it goes up to the first knuckle and then it comes out here and then the other toes are normal. Right. So this would be the big toe. This is the common thing.
52:47 Drew But someone who has a foot fetish would like a nicely laid out foot, not a web foot.
52:54 Adam You would think that but we never really ask a foot fetish what they find attractive in feet. Well there may be qualities that have nothing to do with the joints.
53:02 Drew We've never met a female foot fetish.
53:04 Adam That's true.
53:04 Caller Is this Sam? This is Sam?
53:06 Drew Sam.
53:07 Caller Sam, what kind of background is your family? We're Irish.
53:10 Drew Mallards.
53:11 Caller Irish. See what I'm saying? You see where I'm going with this? Because there might be a lot of inbreeding in the history.
53:17 Drew Oh yeah, that's true. Yeah, you guys are loaded all the time.
53:20 Guest That's true. That's true.
53:22 Drew You're high on haggis.
53:23 Caller You never know what's going to happen.
53:24 Drew You hit your own sister up and that's what happens.
53:27 Adam I would like to... Wait, now here's the deal. Hey, Damian, I would like to hear from what foot fetish is, what they find attractive in feet. I mean, even if it's a guy, just to see what...
53:37 Guest Who knows? All right.
53:38 Drew Well, so Sam, do you think that's why she loves you?
53:42 Caller I don't know. She hasn't seen him. I mean, she's not perfect either. She's got a butt hole the size of a...
53:46 Guest Oh, bingo. It was great.
53:49 Drew Good one. Well, you know how we enjoy those? I do.
53:52 Adam Yeah.
53:53 Drew I do. Anything that cuts into this two hours, anything that breaks up the monotony. But we should have known that was a bogus call because we've never had a female who had almost any kind of fetish, but especially not feet.
54:06 Adam Yep.
54:06 Guest Right.
54:07 Adam You're right.
54:07 Drew They almost do not exist.
54:09 Adam That's right. That's actually true.
54:11 Guest All right.
54:12 Adam Because along the lines of the discussion of the Vase genre, here is Kathleen is 19.
54:17 Drew Kayleen, I think.
54:18 Adam Kayleen.
54:18 Drew You're 19.
54:19 Caller What's up?
54:21 Caller My friend Tony is gay and we have a question.
54:26 Adam Where's Tony?
54:27 Caller I'm sorry.
54:28 Caller Tony is right next to me, but he's kind of scared. Since he has anal sex now and he's also 19 years old, when he gets to be around 60 years old, will it be hard for him to hold in his...
54:43 Adam Well, I don't know. I don't deal much with that end of that population.
54:48 Guest You should check.
54:49 Adam Very good. And I've not heard much upset about that. And you would think there are enough people doing that, both men and women, that if it really were a big issue, we've heard an awful lot about it. It makes sense to me there would be minor kinds of problems.
55:02 Caller And it would also depend on the partner.
55:04 Adam And if you kept doing this until you're 70, I mean, seven-year-olds already have that problem.
55:08 Caller How opened up is he going to get?
55:09 Caller That's something that would make it worse.
55:11 Drew Well, wait a second though. If there's no trauma, there's no trauma, right? I mean, if he's got, let's say, Tony's boyfriend is slow-moving, well-lobed and modest in size.
55:26 Adam And caring and...
55:27 Drew And he feels no pain. It's not like he's being raped in prison or at a holding tank at some backwater sheriff place where everyone's having to go at him with a mop handle.
55:36 Adam It's hard to imagine.
55:37 Drew So if there's no trauma, he'll probably be okay.
55:39 Guest All right.
55:40 Drew Sarah?
55:41 Adam Yes.
55:41 Guest 28.
55:44 Adam Get us out of this. Go ahead.
55:48 Caller I'm going to be moving four hours away in about a month and a half. And the guy that I'm dating now and I get along great, but we both know that long distance relationships don't work.
56:02 Adam So what are you moving for?
56:04 Caller Medical school.
56:06 Adam And where are you moving from to?
56:08 Caller From southern Minnesota to Duluth, Minnesota. Four hours.
56:12 Adam All right.
56:12 Drew And does he have a decent set of wheels?
56:15 Caller Yeah, but no, long distance. We both have already agreed that we want to break up.
56:19 Adam You know, sir. Yeah.
56:20 Drew Well, you know, you're not really that.
56:21 Caller Hold on though.
56:22 Drew At 28, she's just not into the guy or he's not into her. No, you're totally wrong. Well, hold on. How dare you? How dare you, ma'am? 28 is no spring chicken for a chick and at a 20... That was a question. All right.
56:36 Adam That was a question.
56:37 Drew Listen, I'm telling... Forget about it. Put her on hold for a second. What is the question? I'm going to finish my thought.
56:41 Adam Screw her. Finish your thought. I want to talk to Sierra some more.
56:43 Drew But she is not that into this guy.
56:45 Adam I agree.
56:46 Drew Because if she has any kind of, pardon the pun, mobility financially, I mean, has a decent ride in the...
56:52 Caller She can go to medical school for...
56:54 Drew Go to med school. 28 can get herself a plane ticket every once in a while. She's deeply in love. And women who are 28, if they meet Mr. Right, they're starting to think about marriage in the next six months, are not breaking it off because he's moving 200 miles, she's moving 200 miles.
57:07 Adam Sarah, he's right about that. But listen, here's my advice, is that every couple that started out medical school with me did not make it.
57:15 Caller Yeah, but you haven't listened to my question. My question isn't that.
57:19 Drew All right. I don't care what it is. I'm just telling you, you're not breaking up with this guy because you're deeply in love and you're moving forward.
57:24 Adam So what is your question then?
57:26 Caller Okay. Well, here's the real question.
57:28 Caller Okay.
57:29 Caller We were going to spend the summer together and then break up right before it left. But then a couple of weeks ago, we decided that we better break it off now because we're falling harder for each other. It's going to be harder at the end of the summer.
57:39 Drew Yeah. Yeah.
57:40 Caller But we can't stay away from each other now. So should we keep seeing each other all summer?
57:45 Guest Yeah.
57:46 Caller Who cares?
57:47 Drew It's not like your parents are both diplomats and one's going back to India and the other's going to New York.
57:54 Caller You're 28.
57:55 Guest How old is he?
57:56 Caller 35. Okay.
57:57 Drew You guys can't pull this one off. You're deeply in love. You're falling deeper in love.
58:01 Caller There's also something about Sarah.
58:03 Caller We've only been together four months.
58:06 Adam But that's the point. You're going to double down and think that somehow it's going to be easier then at the end of summer. And Adam is saying go for it. Try to keep it going. Go for the summer and go beyond. I'm saying no. I'm saying it doesn't work in the relationship.
58:19 Caller It seems to me like the drama of the separation is enough of a defocus for you. And so like to almost stay addicted to the relationship in a sense by focusing on the fact that it's going to ultimately be in a perilous situation for you, that drama is taking you out of whatever fears you're dealing with to begin with, which might happen to be school or moving or all the above.
58:40 Drew Everything. All of it.
58:41 Caller All of it.
58:41 Drew Well, listen, you're both in the same goddamn state of Minnesota.
58:46 For Christ's sake, he's 35. 35. Yeah, that's true.
58:50 Drew He's 28. You're falling deeper and deeper in love.
58:53 Caller And if she's going to medical school, she's going to be set up well enough that the guy should just move with her.
58:58 Drew She's got an intimacy issue here, I guarantee it.
59:02 Oh, yeah.
59:02 Caller She's got it.
59:02 Guest Yeah, a little bit.
59:04 Drew All right, just be honest with yourself.
59:05 Adam But I believe that people used to have a drama called Arousal to just gratify in the moment and get away from the more difficult feelings. Lila? Yes. 18.
59:17 Guest Yes. What's up?
59:19 Caller Well, first of all, I just want to say, Dr. Drew, I got your Shakespearean reference the other night from Romeo and Juliet.
59:24 Guest What did I say? I forgot already.
59:26 Drew Arousal by any other name.
59:27 Adam Oh, thank you. Yes, Arousal.
59:29 Drew But he butchered it.
59:29 Guest But go ahead.
59:31 Adam Yeah, Arousal by any other name is still a bad.
59:33 Caller It smells sweet.
59:35 Guest Yeah.
59:36 Drew Go ahead, Lila.
59:38 Caller Okay.
59:39 Caller I wanted to know if I had the characteristics of being an infomaniac. I sleep with a lot of people. I masturbate a lot. I want to be a stripper. I know this is not normal. So am I an infomaniac?
59:53 Adam Well, there's no such thing as an infomaniac. That's not a term that has any meaning anymore. But the question is, are you a sexual compulsive or are you a sexual addict?
1:00:01 Caller Sounds like a good yes to me. Especially if you're using that to avoid other issues in your life.
1:00:05 Adam Do you have any addictions otherwise?
1:00:08 Caller Not really.
1:00:09 Adam Is there any family history of alcoholism?
1:00:12 Caller Yeah.
1:00:13 Caller On my dad's side and my mom's side.
1:00:15 Adam Were you sexually abused when you were growing up?
1:00:18 Caller I'm not really sure. I don't remember a lot of when I was younger.
1:00:22 Caller What about eating disorders or body dysmorphic issues?
1:00:25 Caller I had a problem with that a couple of years ago.
1:00:28 Adam It all kind of adds up to addiction plus some childhood trauma. That makes, that sort of is the recipe for sexual addiction. Do you want to address that at all? What the sexual addiction, what you might do with it.
1:00:40 Caller I like how finally they turn to me when it comes to that.
1:00:42 Adam You wouldn't speak in the language of this. Absolutely.
1:00:45 Caller I can totally relate to this whole. For me, compulsive compulsivity basically is applicable to everything I do. Ultimately what's going on in my life is like there's something I'm trying to avoid and I'm looking into these other areas to help me deal with whatever it is that's actually going on. Is there anything going on in your life that you're trying to avoid or hide or run from, especially like in your childhood like Dr. Drew said?
1:01:08 Adam Feelings.
1:01:10 Caller Feelings wise?
1:01:11 Caller Well, I actually have a problem with my feelings. I can't ever show my real emotions.
1:01:16 Caller I mostly sound really happy with people I know.
1:01:19 Adam You sexualize feelings though too.
1:01:20 Guest You're able to do that, right?
1:01:22 Caller I guess.
1:01:23 Caller I'm not really sure what that means.
1:01:24 Adam Everything comes out through sex.
1:01:26 Caller Oh, yeah.
1:01:28 Caller Yeah, what is that a place you go when you're angry or a place you go when you're happier or feeling celebratory or when you're in fear or when you're scared? It's sex is the answer to all those things. Isn't that correct? Isn't that so?
1:01:41 Adam Yes, counselor. But you know what's interesting about people like this is that, and this is where I look to you, is that you know what's going on with her. I know what's going on with her. But how do you get her to get it? To really get it, to be willing to change, to get what she, because in her mind, she's like, no, I just do a lot of stuff. I understand. I just have a lot of stuff.
1:01:58 Caller I mean, yeah, that's the problem is, are you finding that your sexual behavior is making your life unlivable right now, unmanageable? Are you uncomfortable with it?
1:02:05 Caller No, I like it. I'm having fun.
1:02:07 Caller Then that's, you know, then there's really, there's really no answer right now.
1:02:11 Adam Unfortunately, we know where she's headed.
1:02:13 Caller Yeah. I mean, when it's, you know, give us a call when your life starts, you know, being a problem as a result of it.
1:02:17 Adam It will. That's the, that's the, that's the sort of clairvoyance of being around people, of having been with and talked to a lot of people that have what you have, Lila, is that eventually you keep up in the ante. You keep getting more and more thrill into your situations, more and more pain, more and more shame you try to avoid, and it just compounds, it gets worse and worse and worse.
1:02:38 Caller So are you saying you want to end up being a hooker or in the porn?
1:02:42 Adam No, not necessarily. I'm not saying where the first you're going to go, but you're going to probably strip and that kind of thing.
1:02:46 Caller Yeah, and even if it doesn't end up that way, which, you know, I'm not saying that at all, but what I am saying is like it more than likely will end up in a place where you're very uncomfortable with it and unhappy. Unhappy for you.
1:02:56 Adam Unhappy for you.
1:02:58 Drew You'll look back on these years and regret many, many encounters that came along those years, and then you'll have to live with that. But it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be doing snuff films.
1:03:09 Adam No, no, no, it actually does.
1:03:12 Drew Oh, it does. Dave's right.
1:03:13 Adam It doesn't mean she's the best.
1:03:14 Drew At least two snuff films.
1:03:15 Adam See, people somehow take that and go, oh, you're telling me I've had them wrong or something wrong with you.
1:03:19 Caller No, no, no, you have a thing.
1:03:20 Adam And you've fulfilled the recipe for what you have and now you have it.
1:03:24 Caller But what's interesting or what I'm curious about is like why the call to find out if this label applies to you if there's no, if you're not, you know, getting into any problems with it right now.
1:03:35 Caller Well, my friends are just like, dude, that's not normal. You should talk to somebody about that.
1:03:39 Caller But doesn't even that kind of turn you on when they tell you that? You kind of dig feeling different that way.
1:03:45 Caller Well, yeah, I guess.
1:03:47 Caller And to even seek out the label nymphomaniac, there's something to attach yourself to.
1:03:52 Caller Yeah.
1:03:53 Drew Yeah. All right. So you know what the future is now. And the question is, you want to live it, or do you just want to see it and avoid it? Why don't you see if you can see it and avoid it?
1:04:02 Adam And if you do, there's SA, or maybe if there's another drug involved here you haven't talked about, you can start. Any kind of 12 step program would be very, very useful for this.
1:04:10 Drew I also worry about her friends who call her dude.
1:04:13 Adam Yeah. They're very serious.
1:04:16 Drew They're the ones we need to speak to.
1:04:18 Guest Yes, indeed.
1:04:19 Drew You call women dude now?
1:04:20 Guest Is that how that works?
1:04:21 Drew You can?
1:04:22 Guest Everyone can do that?
1:04:23 Adam Dude. Aloha.
1:04:24 Guest Wow.
1:04:25 Adam Yeah, dude.
1:04:25 Guest Well, I'm out of the loop.
1:04:28 Guest All right, dude.
1:04:29 Adam All right, Lila, take care.
1:04:30 Guest Okay.
1:04:31 Caller Lila, stand on the line. I'm going to get your number.
1:04:33 Guest Okay.
1:04:33 Guest I'm joking.
1:04:35 Adam To refer her on to somebody.
1:04:36 Drew No, it's a show or a photo, but.
1:04:40 Adam Sarah 19.
1:04:43 Caller Hi.
1:04:44 Caller Yesterday I did shrooms for the first time. And now today, my stomach really hurts. And I don't know if it's normal. I also smoked a gram of weed yesterday. And I usually don't smoke that off. I mean, I usually smoke like once or twice a month.
1:05:01 Drew And were you laughing? No, I'm serious. Like, I've eaten mushrooms like three times. And each time I laughed so hard that I woke up with a stitch in my side. And, you know, the next morning, because I overdid it.
1:05:18 Caller Oh, Sarah, I think she's still tripping.
1:05:23 Drew Who was that?
1:05:23 Caller That was my mom.
1:05:24 Drew That was your mom?
1:05:26 Caller Yeah.
1:05:26 Guest Put her on the line.
1:05:27 Caller And then, like, my boyfriend.
1:05:29 Adam Your mom was imaging coca?
1:05:30 Wow.
1:05:31 Guest Heavy smoker.
1:05:35 Are you there?
1:05:36 Caller Yeah, my boyfriend was on the line.
1:05:37 Drew Okay, so how did the mushrooms treat you?
1:05:41 Caller Well, I don't know. I don't think I had enough because I heard a lot of voices and stuff.
1:05:46 Caller Yeah, it's definitely not enough.
1:05:48 Drew But you didn't see anything?
1:05:50 Caller Not really.
1:05:51 Drew Yeah, it's a fine balance.
1:05:52 Caller What kind of stomach problem is it?
1:05:55 Adam Why don't you describe the pain?
1:05:56 Caller Where is it?
1:05:56 Adam What's it like?
1:05:58 Caller It was like in my stomach and it just cramps up.
1:06:02 Guest Where?
1:06:03 Adam Right in the middle. Is it on the right lower quadric, left lower quadric, right around the belly button?
1:06:08 Guest Yeah, around the belly button.
1:06:09 Adam Did you have any diarrhea or constipation? Yeah. So that's diarrhea.
1:06:12 Caller That's a good thing. It's slimming too.
1:06:14 Adam That's a child's spasm with diarrhea.
1:06:16 Drew You know, they say the width of the average diarrhea stream is the same width of an engorged female clitoris. Did you know that?
1:06:23 Adam I'm learning.
1:06:26 Caller But I mean, it sounds to me like, you know, she's sitting here saying, I put a pencil in my eye and I can't see anything.
1:06:32 Adam I don't know. I've not, you know, again, mushrooms are one of these drugs that you don't see.
1:06:36 Caller Well, because all my other friends, they didn't have any stomach pain.
1:06:39 Adam I've not heard of people complaining about stomach pain from doing a lot of mushrooms. Mushrooms are the drugs that nobody does a lot of. So I don't get a lot of experience seeing a lot of people who do a lot of the drugs.
1:06:47 Drew But they grow in cow crap. So you could see where they may cause some irritation. Some of the users. All right, Sarah. You're not going to die.
1:06:59 Caller I know. But I mean, like next time when I do mushrooms, like what can I take to not have that huge pain?
1:07:04 Caller I want to throw some tums back there with it.
1:07:06 Right.
1:07:08 Drew How did you eat the mushrooms, Sarah? Did you put them in peanut butter? Did you make tea or something?
1:07:13 Caller I ate them by themselves and then I had like chips afterwards.
1:07:17 Caller What kind of chips?
1:07:18 Drew Pringles.
1:07:18 Caller Pringles, original.
1:07:19 Adam I'm so scared of my kids.
1:07:21 Caller I want to go with the fat free ones.
1:07:23 Guest Maybe it was the game of the diarrhea.
1:07:25 Drew It's possible. What is it? Elestra. Elestra. Hey, Drew, if you put that on vibrate. I was listening to that. You know, it's funny. I was driving in and I was listening to the first minute of the show and I heard Drew's pager go off and I thought, Jesus Christ, how unprofessional. And then I thought, wait a minute, I host the show and I'm in my car. So maybe I shouldn't pass any judgment tonight. Unacceptable.
1:07:49 Adam All right, I'll be right back.
1:07:52 Is this Loveline?
1:07:56 Caller Adam and Dr. Drew will be right back.
1:08:17 In the 1800s, people making land claims had to wait so long for their paperwork to be processed, they were called squatters. Today, if you're left without a car because your insurance company hasn't processed your accident claim, you could be a squatter too. At GEICO, we're there 24 hours a day to get your claim rolling the moment you call. Many claims are settled within 48 hours. Our customers like the way we handle claims almost as much as they like saving money. GEICO, 1-800-947-AUTO. That's 1-800-947-AUTO.
1:08:47 Guest Hi, this is Rocky Moselle of the International Star Registry. I want to thank our customers for their support over the last 20 years and to wish them a happy and safe holiday season. 1:09:18 Adam Now back to more Loveline on 96 Rock.
1:09:21 Drew Listen, let me sell this thing quickly. These are a couple of guests who were on just a few weeks ago, maybe a month ago. And normally that's a little too soon to bring somebody back, but these are big names. And they were so good, they were such good guests that we thought we'd give you a little repeat shot. This is Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Kiedis. Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Kiedis are here tonight. Josh, you're 16?
1:09:48 Caller Yeah.
1:09:48 Drew What's up?
1:09:50 Caller Yeah, I'm aware that when a girl loses her virginity, like she experiences apparently overwhelming pain.
1:09:59 Adam Not necessarily.
1:10:00 Drew No. No?
1:10:01 Adam Adam, she didn't even know anything had happened.
1:10:03 Drew No. Thanks to the little miracle known as Rufy's and Mickey's big mouth, she didn't wake up for days. Now, she said, Are you in?
1:10:13 Adam Or was it, Are you done?
1:10:14 Drew Are you done? Are you done? May have been it.
1:10:17 Guest Why are you worried about the overwhelming pain?
1:10:19 Caller Because, well, I was just wondering because I've heard that a lot. And I've heard average size for a penis is six inches.
1:10:30 Adam Yeah.
1:10:31 Caller A little above that. And I was wondering what the correlation was.
1:10:34 I'm a big boy.
1:10:36 Adam How little above are we talking here?
1:10:38 Caller Like about eight inches.
1:10:39 Adam Yeah, that could do a little harm. But again, it's not going to be significantly more painful than someone who's not a virgin. It could be uncomfortable for anyone. And in fact, we have many more calls here about too many persons. Just thinking about it.
1:10:56 Drew Yeah, but I'll tell you what's going to be uncomfortable with the next guy she gets with who's five inches.
1:11:01 It's like a baby's arm in a warm room.
1:11:03 Drew It's going to have that. Yeah, that's the guy's going to be in pain.
1:11:07 Josh, you just take it slow.
1:11:08 Drew Exactly. You're in love and you don't do anything that is uncomfortable for anyone and it all work out.
1:11:14 Guest My understanding of the female vagina is that it's opposed to the male vagina, as opposed to the hermaphrodite vagina. Is that it expands and contracts with unbelievable elasticity.
1:11:26 That's correct.
1:11:27 Guest And if you just bring it right back, and if you just take it slow and go gentle and move your thing real mellow and with love and make sure she comes. I'm kidding. John, definitely.
1:11:40 Drew How old is she? What is she, 11? How old is she? 16.
1:11:45 Adam Man, if she's ready for this too, make sure if she's nervous and ambivalent about not clear that she should be engaging in this kind of activity, it can hurt no matter what. Whether you're three inches or nine inches, it can be a very unpleasant and painful experience.
1:11:58 Guest Is she into it?
1:12:00 Caller Huh?
1:12:00 Guest Is she into it?
1:12:01 Caller Into what?
1:12:02 Guest Losing her virginity to you.
1:12:03 Oh, yeah.
1:12:04 Caller Well, I guess so. I mean, I was just asking in case.
1:12:09 Drew Are you a virgin? Did you sleep with someone else who was a virgin at some point?
1:12:15 Have you hurt before?
1:12:16 Adam Did you hurt the non-virgin?
1:12:18 A pressure, yeah.
1:12:19 Adam No?
1:12:19 Drew Okay.
1:12:20 Guest All right.
1:12:21 Guest You're going to be all right. Have fun.
1:12:22 Adam Good times.
1:12:23 Caller Hey, could you put me on hold so I can listen to the rest of the show?
1:12:26 Guest Okay.
1:12:27 Drew Now. Why, you're calling from Colorado?
1:12:30 Adam You should be hearing it.
1:12:30 Caller Yeah, it's on tomorrow.
1:12:33 Drew Oh, okay.
1:12:34 Guest All right.
1:12:34 Caller All right.
1:12:35 Adam Don't be nervous.
1:12:36 Guest You can do that for me.
1:12:36 Adam I have a phone line for you.
1:12:37 Caller No problem.
1:12:38 Caller All right.
1:12:38 Guest Let's talk to...
1:12:39 Adam Oh, you have nothing on that one, too.
1:12:41 Caller I didn't hang up on him. I just hit five.
1:12:45 Drew I didn't hang up on anyone.
1:12:47 Adam You went directly to five without putting my whole...
1:12:49 Drew All right.
1:12:49 Caller I was looking at his hand when you were on the screen.
1:12:52 Guest That eight-inch was the easiest problem to solve all night.
1:12:55 Adam See, we're going to get some...
1:12:56 Caller Yeah, we're going to close them down.
1:12:58 Caller The phones were difficult.
1:12:59 Guest Charlie?
1:13:00 Caller Yeah.
1:13:01 Caller You're 31.
1:13:03 Caller What's up, Adam? I just want to say you're the man.
1:13:05 Drew In good times, buddy.
1:13:07 Caller Robert Downey Jr., my favorite movie you were in was Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield.
1:13:14 Guest Thanks, bro.
1:13:15 Drew Come on. How about Weird Science if you're going back that far?
1:13:18 Guest I love that movie.
1:13:20 Caller I loved it when he would jump on the floor and start yelling, but it was so doomy. Anyway, your recipe there for premature ejaculation was to squeeze one off 20 minutes before hand. Yeah. Me and my wife tried that a couple of times, both different ways, and I still got that problem. I don't know what to do. We've tried different things and we don't know where to go from here.
1:13:47 Adam This is John Candy from The Grave.
1:13:49 Drew Yeah. What's up there? Are you smoking a lot of weed, Charlie?
1:13:53 Guest No.
1:13:54 Guest Oh, please. Please.
1:13:55 Guest I have a technique for him.
1:13:56 Drew Go ahead.
1:13:57 Guest Analyst.
1:13:58 Adam Okay.
1:13:59 Guest So you've been ejaculating prematurely, is that right?
1:14:02 Caller Right.
1:14:03 Guest How quick?
1:14:03 Adam Just a little record. How quick?
1:14:06 Caller Like the dice man used to say, one stroke, done.
1:14:10 Guest Okay. It's a quick breathing. It's all about breath. If you focus on your breath rather than how good it's feeling down there, just breathe in and out like very intentional breathing like, don't focus on your penis, focus on the breath.
1:14:29 Guest Hold on.
1:14:29 Drew I came when he did that.
1:14:30 Guest What's his name?
1:14:33 Caller I have a, there's another thing and this is really been having a profound effect on my staying power. Yoga brother.
1:14:41 Drew Really?
1:14:42 Caller Yes. Get your Kundalini on.
1:14:44 Drew I can't picture Charlie in a lotus position. Hey Charlie.
1:14:49 Caller Charlie Goestanka.
1:14:50 Drew Let me see if I can dangle a carrot in front of you. You get really good at that yoga. You can blow yourself.
1:14:57 Caller Right. I used to be able to do that but I packed on a few pounds now.
1:15:00 Drew Oh yeah.
1:15:01 Guest Now your guts in the way.
1:15:02 Adam Come on Jeremy.
1:15:03 Drew That's bad when you're...
1:15:04 Caller Do you have any questions?
1:15:05 Drew Your guts in the way.
1:15:06 Caller Do the yoga with the boiler. Don't even worry about it.
1:15:09 Caller Me and my brothers want to know, because we really like blood, sugar, sex, water. And me and my brothers want to know, does Anthony take it on the other side now or what?
1:15:19 Guest That depends on your definition of the other side. It sounds like you've gone to a completely different place than I ever intended but that's okay because lyrics were meant to be interpreted as seen fit.
1:15:30 Caller Shut you down, Charlie.
1:15:31 Guest Are you talking about some sort of a bisexual or gay reference there? Yeah. No, that's not what I was thinking when I wrote the song. You can interpret it like that if you want to.
1:15:40 Caller No, no, I have a big fan of your music. It just seemed like it's kind of been going downhill lately.
1:15:46 Caller You are an asshole.
1:15:47 Caller All right.
1:15:48 Caller Hey, Charlie.
1:15:49 Drew By the way, I don't think he's been critiqued by a guy who stopped blowing himself because his guts are in the way.
1:15:54 Caller Steady chuckles.
1:15:55 Drew No, that's all right.
1:15:56 Guest Hey, you know, I'm not against having a little sensitive criticism from Charlie. The other side is about something much deeper than experimenting with male on male sex. Not what I'm into, but if you want to visualize that while you listen to the song, you go ahead.
1:16:13 Drew Caroline. Caroline.
1:16:14 Caller Yes.
1:16:15 Drew You're 17. What's up?
1:16:16 Caller Yeah. I just have a question for Anthony.
1:16:18 Drew Here he is.
1:16:20 Caller Hi, Anthony.
1:16:21 Guest Am I going downhill in your eyes too?
1:16:22 Guest Because he's about to kill himself. That's true.
1:16:26 Caller I was just wondering if the new album that you're making, are you going to go for a new sound? Are you going to use that type of music that you used in California Cation? Do you know what I'm saying?
1:16:38 Guest Yeah. We don't sit down and have a group discussion on which direction we're going in, or what kind of sound we want to come up with. It just happens. To us, it always seems like a natural progression from whatever we did before that. The more time we spend together, the more time where our chemistry gets bubbling in the lab. It just comes out. I don't even know what to call it. It sounds to me like the next phase from California Cation. It doesn't sound like California Cation, but it sounds like a continuation thereof. We're pretty happy with it. It sounds good to us.
1:17:09 Drew When's it coming out? Do you know?
1:17:11 Guest We're still recording it. It comes out in the springtime. It's 2002.
1:17:16 Drew Thanks, Carolyn.
1:17:16 Caller I have another question. Uh-oh. Not really a question. It's another thing I wanted to tell Anthony. I met you on Wednesday, August 16, 2000. You gave a take? No, that's an exact date. It was in Toronto. You were staying in the Four Seasons Hotel, and so was I.
1:17:37 Guest What town?
1:17:38 Caller Toronto. Toronto. In Yorkville, Toronto. You guys did a show or whatever. One of your friends hooked me up or something with the guest list. I followed you into the elevator at 2 a.m. after your show. I really think I scared you.
1:17:54 Guest You followed me all the way to my door.
1:17:56 Caller I did not.
1:17:57 Guest Yeah, you did.
1:17:58 Caller I was like, I've not been talking to you or whatever, but I didn't find you out of your elevator.
1:18:03 Caller I'm not done talking to you at 2 in the morning.
1:18:06 Adam That's a scary thing to tell someone, Carolla.
1:18:08 Guest I hope my girlfriend is listening. I hope my girlfriend is listening because she sees exactly how I'm doing.
1:18:14 Caller I felt immense relief at this story.
1:18:16 Drew Just a $50 handy.
1:18:19 Caller You can't buy those.
1:18:20 Drew Hey, Carolla.
1:18:21 Guest Money in the bank.
1:18:22 Drew What do you got? A post-nasal drip going?
1:18:24 Caller Oh, I'm so sick right now.
1:18:25 Guest All right.
1:18:25 Drew Well, take care of yourself.
1:18:26 Adam I'll be by for a vapor rub. This is something we're trying to do is to point out to people when they're actually engaged in stalking behaviors. It helps them sort of break through the denial about what they're doing. That's stalking. That is.
1:18:39 Guest I have to close my door.
1:18:41 Adam Yeah, it's a poor perception of boundaries. They're always startled that you would perceive it that way. She can't imagine that. Look, it's two in the morning. You're following you to your room. It's maybe a 17-year-old, but you don't know.
1:18:52 Guest I'm not talking to you.
1:18:54 Guest Thanks, Louis, for hooking her up, by the way.
1:18:55 Drew But just, was she hot or? She wasn't hot.
1:18:59 Guest She wasn't hot.
1:19:00 Drew Cindy?
1:19:01 Caller Yeah.
1:19:01 Drew You're 20?
1:19:03 Caller What's that?
1:19:04 Caller Well, I'm kind of confused because like I'm getting my life together. I had a couple of years where I was doing stuff that I wasn't very proud of and all that sort of thing, but I'm trying to do better now. So I went to my doctor and I got HIV test and chlamydia and gonorrhea and a bunch of other stuff. And I know that I had chlamydia and I took the penicillin, I think the pills, the Zitromax, and I did that and then I also, my doctor found that I had genital warts too.
1:19:45 Adam Which would be completely, if you were sexually active, it would be bizarre if you didn't have that.
1:19:49 Drew I have warts. Thank you.
1:19:53 Caller The PVH.
1:19:54 Guest HPV.
1:19:55 Caller HPV.
1:19:55 Caller HPV, yeah.
1:19:57 Guest She's also dyslexic.
1:19:58 Guest But go ahead.
1:19:59 Drew So you got everything.
1:20:00 Adam So the question is?
1:20:01 Caller The question is, I don't, I just actually like a couple of, I just broke off a relationship, but I'm going to have to say something. I just feel it's so stupid because I'm, I'm the girl that you would like least suspect that. All right.
1:20:16 Adam Here's the deal. First of all, the reality is that 50% of sexually active adults in your age group have HPV. No, they don't. They do.
1:20:25 Caller And I heard like one out of four have chlamydia and out.
1:20:30 Adam Well, that may be a little bit of an overstatement, but the fact is, this is an ex, let's just state that it's exceedingly common. Okay. It's not as though you are sort of-
1:20:39 Guest Is that what we're talking about? Yes.
1:20:41 Adam Especially in chlamydia, also common.
1:20:43 Drew Chlamydia, she can knock down, right?
1:20:44 Adam Completely terrible.
1:20:45 Guest It's just like one pill that I-
1:20:46 Drew Right. So why even factoring that in?
1:20:48 Adam Well, she had, she, and this is the other thing-
1:20:50 Caller I hope I could have exposed them to it.
1:20:51 Adam No. But Cindy, somebody exposed you to it, too, after all. Be fair. And this is what I want to get into, is that you have such intense shame about your behavior in relation to whatever it was you were going through at that time in your life. You were where you were. You've gotten through that. You're understanding it. You're sort of containing your behavior as you're finding sort of more meaningful other kinds of relationships. Why beat the crap out of yourself? You have something that most people your age have. All people that are very sexually active have. People need to wear condoms if they're going to be with you, if they're going to prevent infection. Indeed, if you're going to be sexually active with someone, they should be wearing a condom. That's basically what this boils down to.
1:21:28 Drew You'll probably find a guy who's got warts too.
1:21:31 Adam I think that the fact that you are sort of coming more to terms with who you are and who you want to be, part of that is living with integrity. I commend you for wanting to be honest because I think you'll feel a lot better about yourself. They'll be part of this whole process you're going through is being fastidiously honest. You need to be honest.
1:21:48 Caller So what do you mean?
1:21:49 Adam You need to help people you've been exposed to work with.
1:21:51 Drew Well, only people you're going to screw. Don't get a bullhorn and go to a mall.
1:21:55 Adam Now look, go around the room here. If you're going to be with someone you're really into and she mentions this, is it going to be a deal breaker?
1:22:01 Guest I think it's very cool that she took the responsibility to find out and that she's at least addressing the issue of how to deal with this.
1:22:07 Adam She is getting herself together, quite literally.
1:22:09 Guest That's a cool thing.
1:22:13 Drew But listen, Cindy, you know what you're doing? You're taking all this guilt and you're putting it on to your wards. I mean, what I'm saying is, this guy doesn't have to know you got the wards from the 150th guy you're with. You could have just as easily got it from the first guy. You think that because you have this, he's going to know about your past, but it's not true.
1:22:34 Caller It also took someone who passed this on to you who didn't tell you before, so it's kind of like an opportunity to stop that legacy now.
1:22:44 Caller Yeah, I totally understand exactly what you're talking about.
1:22:48 Adam Let's say you're in this girl, you've dated her five times, now it's getting close, you're going to get physical, and she's like, I've got to be honest about something.
1:22:55 Caller How would you, as guys, how would you like a girl to...
1:22:58 Guest If the girl I'm dating now had told me five times into the date that she had some sort of...
1:23:02 Adam No, no, not that you've been having sex five times, you're like getting to know her, slowly building your...
1:23:07 Guest There's no way that would have stopped me.
1:23:10 Caller Yeah, but what would you... How would you have her say?
1:23:12 Guest Would you rather just her be like, you need to go get checked or...?
1:23:15 Guest No, it's blurred out.
1:23:16 Drew Yeah, just blurred it out over dinner. Besides, I mean, I'm all about BJs and anal anyway, so I don't even go there. I don't even know what that part is. What part do you get the words in?
1:23:25 Adam The female vagina.
1:23:26 Drew Is that the front part?
1:23:28 Caller Actually, no. You can have it. You can basically get it anywhere, but...
1:23:33 Adam Do you have an anal area?
1:23:34 Caller Mine is on... No, it's in the wall between the rectal and...
1:23:39 Adam But not on the rectal side, though.
1:23:40 Caller No, not at all.
1:23:41 Guest But it can move over there.
1:23:43 Guest You go there.
1:23:44 Adam It's a more serious issue over there, because it becomes associated with anal cancer on that side.
1:23:48 Drew But like I said, just like everyone said, be straight with the next guy. This is part of what you're doing in the part of the journey you're making in your life. They don't have to know about all the shame that potentially brought you these warts.
1:24:02 Adam This guy is doing handsprings because you're going to have sex with him.
1:24:05 Drew That's all. Yeah, that's what I hear when I hear this. Yeah, this means yes.
1:24:08 Adam Yeah, this means we're going there.
1:24:09 Drew Right. Right.
1:24:10 Guest Shed the shame.
1:24:11 Drew Hey, Ariel? Yeah.
1:24:13 Adam Yeah.
1:24:14 Drew Shed the shame. You're 17.
1:24:15 Caller What's up? I just wanted to ask Robert if he's still planning on being in Hamlet under the direction of Mel Gibson.
1:24:24 Adam Is it a stage performance?
1:24:25 Caller That's so high, bro.
1:24:28 Guest What show are we on now?
1:24:31 Guest The Ace Theater.
1:24:34 Caller We might do that at some point. Yeah, we were going to do it last around Christmas time and things took a turn for the worse for me for a minute there but maybe next spring or summer.
1:24:49 Caller Okay, in Los Angeles?
1:24:51 Caller Yeah, we do it in LA.
1:24:52 Caller That would be cool because I think you're such a great actor.
1:24:56 Guest I appreciate it.
1:24:58 Drew I'll take this moment to kiss Robert's ass for a second. You've obviously had your ups and downs in life and nobody's, well, at least no one I know has turned on you. Like they like you so much and they like your work so much. And Drew, you know what I'm saying? We've got a lot of people in here that have had trouble with addiction, they've had some bad times and people sort of turn on him. Like especially if you do it a couple of times like screw him, he deserves it, get rid of him, I hope he rots in jail. But with Robert Downey Jr. it's been like people are like pulling for you and part of it is your talent, I think, that people really respond to. But I think the other part is your humanity that's maybe comes through in your work or I don't know what it is. But people seem to really like you and really be pulling for you. And I don't know what that means to you. I mean, does that help you? Is that pressure for you?
1:25:57 Caller Well, I think it's better than having people turn on you for sure. I wouldn't know because it's always that part of your life that we really are pulling for you. It is a strange feeling.
1:26:08 Guest I bet it gets people definitely in your corner.
1:26:10 Adam I bet it works against you a little bit though because then what follows in the heels of that is we got a job for you right now. We'd like you to boom, boom, you're back at work before you have a chance to get focused on your job.
1:26:19 Caller I'm real fortunate that I've been able to for the first time since I was 17, aside from the summer I spent in Corcoran State, Penitentiary. It's the first summer I've had off and through to the end of the year and it's been really amazing because there's a lot of stuff that I just hadn't really ever got off the habit trail to look at. So all the support and like you're saying, the goodwill ultimately has sometimes carried me along when nothing else seemed like it would have.
1:26:45 Drew Robert told me by the way that he would listen to the show when he was in Corcoran.
1:26:50 Caller Who?
1:26:50 Adam Where is that?
1:26:52 Caller Corcoran?
1:26:52 Drew Yeah, it's right out here.
1:26:53 Caller Right by Bakersfield.
1:26:55 Drew It's not bad. They got radios.
1:26:58 Adam Bakersfield?
1:26:59 Guest Yeah, they listen.
1:27:00 Caller They're in Fresno too. They're a little closer to Fresno.
1:27:03 Guest Listen to the Loveline over there.
1:27:05 Caller Yeah. That's why I'm always...
1:27:07 Drew And this is our core audience by the way.
1:27:08 Caller I want to say hi to all the brothers who are doing time. I also want to say hi to my friend Catnip aka Michael V. Who's down in San Diego County Jail right now.
1:27:20 Drew And...
1:27:20 Caller Stay up bro.
1:27:21 Guest And what...
1:27:22 Drew Now what was you... Were you in for like nine months did you say?
1:27:25 Caller I was in for a year and a half. Jesus...
1:27:30 Guest Well, you're... I don't know.
1:27:33 Drew I don't want to say good.
1:27:34 Caller I don't want to say bad.
1:27:35 Caller Great!
1:27:35 Drew I mean was it a good... Did you feel like it saved your life in any way? Do you know? I mean I know guys... I have friends who went in and it saved their lives. Because they were at a point where they were...
1:27:48 Caller Well, you know that I got out and then continued after several other little bits of... So for me...
1:27:53 Guest I can understand that personally.
1:27:55 Adam Yes.
1:27:56 Guest You did that? Things come along where you would say to yourself there's no way this person could possibly go back to you after that. Maybe your best friend dies in your arms for an overdose and you think well that will sort of solve his problem.
1:28:09 Adam It doesn't. You could say that if you've never known this disease. You know what I'm saying? People that really know this disease. Yeah.
1:28:16 Guest I mean I can understand going out after serving a year and a half.
1:28:19 Adam I've seen worse things. Sure.
1:28:21 Caller As they say, out the gate by eight, in the spoon by noon, back again by ten. Wow.
1:28:29 Adam Is that the penitentiary? That's the same?
1:28:31 Caller Yes.
1:28:32 Drew It's not actually printed out and framed and put up on the wall.
1:28:35 Caller They chant it every morning when they say the allegiance.
1:28:39 Drew It's not prison policy.
1:28:42 Adam What policy?
1:28:43 Drew Well, it's a colloquialism that's picked up in the joint.
1:28:45 Caller But as you know, as a specialist, too, and I think that there's starting to be a bit of a movement in that is that, you know, everyone operates at a different wavelength and you never quite know, but it seems like the people have just been constantly saying, well, you know, we're not going to judge this. We're going to keep doing this and trying different stuff. I think that that's kind of where things are headed is, you know, applying as many different possible remedies as you can for a given individual.
1:29:15 Drew Were there resources for you when you were in? I mean, did they have programs?
1:29:21 Caller Yeah, there was a TC therapeutic community going on there, but I think more than anything else was, you know, some of it could be counterproductive. I wouldn't say that prison is somewhere that saves your life, whether there's a program there or not. It's inherently dangerous and degrading and heart breaking. But looking back on it, it lets me know that all those times, whether it was times that I was in, I wasn't under the influence of anything for that entire period of time. But you look back on things, you know, the human spirit is so strong that you can, I think it's just important to survive whatever it is that you've been putting yourself through until it runs its course and then do everything you can to keep it. All right, Ben.
1:30:09 Adam So another way of saying that is when you're done, you're done.
1:30:13 Guest I also find my experience is, you know, never give up, never give up on somebody else because as long as somebody's breathing, there is hope for that person. It doesn't matter how impossible their situation seems to be. If there's a degree of willingness at all, there's hope.
1:30:28 Adam Anthony and I were talking out there about some cases that I was involved with that we have seen some miracles and I would have, a willingness was not even a concept that some of these people could even have, but they were breathing. Barely, albeit, but they were breathing and they were miracles.
1:30:42 Guest Yeah, I've seen the worst cases I've ever seen and they've come back to be clean and incredibly creative and productive people.
1:30:49 Drew Well, I haven't seen this kind of tragedy myself, but my TiVo cramped out like two weeks ago. Not for one night, but for three days. And there were times when I almost slipped.
1:31:05 Guest I never lost faith in you.
1:31:07 Drew But that's the point. I had people behind me. I felt their strength and their goodwill and I stayed with it. And, God willing, it's going to stay together for a while. One tape program at a time, that's the thing.
1:31:20 Guest How much my mom loves you, Robert? Oh, man, she loves you so much. Really? Yeah. You talk about that humanity, that sort of inner something that every human, every man, every woman can relate to, the kind of compassion that people get. Isn't it, Robert?
1:31:36 Drew Yeah.
1:31:36 Guest Yeah. Or in lots of people, Robert, because we're talking about him right now, but my mom is very sensitive like that.
1:31:42 Drew But one more quick ass lick before we go to Overdue Break. But I don't hang around with real sophisticated people, and they don't seem to know the difference between one guy's acting and another guy's acting, especially when it's on Ally McBeal.
1:31:59 Guest They don't like guys acting.
1:32:00 Drew They don't like the people they like. Yeah. They actually think the skipper is trapped on the island with my butt.
1:32:06 Guest What are you trying to say? He's not?
1:32:07 Drew No. That's, I don't want to burst any bubbles here. But with Robert, it's like people that don't care about acting don't seem to know about acting. They're like, that guy is so good. And that is, I mean, it's one thing to have the critics recognize it, but the people aren't necessarily interested in it or too educated about it. To really, for you to really speak to them is an incredible gift.
1:32:31 Caller Now I want to get drunk.
1:32:32 Drew We'll take a break.
1:32:33 Guest Let's go to the park, see if we can score.
1:32:35 Drew And we'll be right back after this.
1:32:59 Adam Dr. Drew, shame on you. 96 Rock.
1:33:02 Guest You said that I won, and you actually picked my design, and I just want to know if that was true, if you actually picked it, or if you remember it.
1:33:11 Guest I remember looking at tons of artwork that people sent in, and I remember commenting on all of it. My memory does get hazy.
1:33:19 Guest Oh, it's okay.
1:33:19 Guest But what did it look like?
1:33:22 Guest Well, I kind of took, it was a motif a little bit off of blood sugar sex magic as opposed to blood sugar sex water like the guy you called earlier.
1:33:33 Guest That was Charlie, the guy who said I'm going downhill.
1:33:37 Guest Except for because, you know, I kind of thought that was really sexual. I saw something very sexual about the cover of that album.
1:33:44 Drew What did you draw, though?
1:33:46 Guest Oh, well, in the center of the rose, I put my pubic area where I had shaved the logo.
1:33:53 Guest Yes, yes, yes, all came right back.
1:33:55 Guest Shaved the logo?
1:33:56 Guest She had shaved the red hot chili peppers asterisk into her pubic hair and it looked hot and you won. Didn't you ever see the magazine with you in it?
1:34:05 Guest Oh, yeah, except for, you know what, he edited me out. No, no, I didn't get the cover just because, you know, there's a lot of 10-year-olds in your club and stuff like that.
1:34:13 Guest You were in there somewhere. I remember.
1:34:15 Guest Yeah, I know, but they covered the good part. And I can't believe how many, how many creepy mails I got from people.
1:34:21 Drew I don't know. Why are you asking if you won if you know?
1:34:24 Adam No, no, she wants to know if Anthony actually picked it.
1:34:26 Caller I want to know if he really picked it.
1:34:27 Guest Oh, no, I saw it and I gave it a full approval.
1:34:31 Adam Two thumbs up.
1:34:32 Guest It looked, it was a great design.
1:34:34 Guest Yeah, you know what, I got to tell you that I...
1:34:35 Guest You see a lot of mohawks out there, a lot of cane-shaven, you don't see a lot of asterisks.
1:34:39 Guest Well, that's true. And I had to grow it out for a month to be able to get that kind of like... You know, get some real definition.
1:34:48 Drew How much work is involved with growing your pubic hair, though? Can you still hold down a job or is that something you can do at the workplace?
1:34:55 Guest I don't know, I just felt a little bit like woodsy or something.
1:35:02 Drew I see.
1:35:02 Guest By not being as clean as I had been.
1:35:05 Drew Right, right. Did you have a man at the time?
1:35:09 Guest Yeah, he helped me because...
1:35:13 Drew He was okay with the sort of Dan Haggerty beard down there?
1:35:17 Caller There's no Dan Haggerty.
1:35:20 Drew I mean, she had to grow it out in order to...
1:35:21 Guest There's more of a George Michael thing.
1:35:23 Guest Oh, okay.
1:35:24 Adam The Fuller beard, yeah.
1:35:26 Drew All right, Erin.
1:35:27 Adam All right, Erin, here we go.
1:35:28 Drew I don't have any kids.
1:35:30 Guest No, I don't.
1:35:30 Adam Good.
1:35:31 Guest Did you play in a band called Anthem in high school?
1:35:35 Guest No, but I introduced a band called Anthem in high school. All right, Erin, Adam's getting triggered. Good thing I'm happy in this year.
1:35:43 Drew That's a lot of just funky folks calling today. We'll take a break. We'll be right back.
1:36:21 Caller Now, back to Love Line on KSMA.
1:36:36 Drew Yeah, well, well, there you have it, the best of Love Line. I want to thank you. I'm going to be giving you a little bit of a tour of the show.
1:36:49 Guest Thanks for coming in here tonight without actually coming in.
1:36:53 Drew So, everybody, we appreciate you tuning in, and until next time, this is Adam Corolla for Dr. Drew, saying mahalo.
1:37:10 Guest The producer for Loveline is here.
1:37:11 Caller Welcome to Stingle.
1:37:13 Caller Loveline is a presentation of Westwood Women.
