Slash
Content. Content.

Voiceover
Listener discretion is advised. Adam Corolla and Dr. Drew Loveline, Coast to Coast.
1:13
Voiceover
Hey, everybody, it's Loveline. I'm Adam Corolla. That's Dr. Drew over there in Washington, DC. Yes, sir. Phone number, 1-800-LOVE-191, Dr. Drew, board certified physician, addiction medicine specialist. And tonight we'd like to welcome back to the show Slash.
1:32
Slash
Hey.
1:33
Adam
Hey.
1:33
Slash
What's going on?
1:34
Adam
Good to see you.
1:35
Slash
Where's the doc at now?
1:36
Adam
He's in Washington, DC. I'm right here. I don't know what. Can you hear us okay, Drew?
1:41
Drew
I hear you. Can you hear me? Yep.
1:43
Adam
What were you doing in DC.?
1:45
Drew
Speaking at George Washington University.
1:47
Adam
Uh-huh. And you're coming back tomorrow?
1:50
Drew
I'm coming back tomorrow.
1:50
Adam
Fantastic, Ola. See you at your birthday party Sunday.
1:53
Drew
Oh, God bless you. How are we going to survive tonight without talking to each other on the way home?
1:57
Adam
I don't know, Drew. I brought my huggy blanket, so I had something to clutch on the way home. Slash is, it's always good to see Slash.
2:06
Slash
Well, thank you.
2:07
Adam
Yeah, Slash has a great energy to him.
2:10
Slash
I just got recognized in the street driving down here. You know, some guy in a car cruises up. I was like, hey. Anyway, I guess you promoted that I was doing this.
2:18
Adam
Oh, yes.
2:19
Slash
Oh, yes.
2:20
Adam
What, was he honking his horn or something?
2:22
Slash
Yeah.
2:22
Adam
Do you ever get this, I mean, you're a pretty recognizable guy. The hair and the hat and the look and the vibe and everything. And people come up and talk to you, like people come up and talk to me when I'm doing stuff. But I noticed that the cell phone is no deterrent for people.
2:37
Slash
No.
2:37
Adam
I was talking on the cell phone at the Home Depot today, guy walks right up to me, hey, Adam, what's happening? It's like, I'm talking on the goddamn cell phone. I don't think people count cell phone as a regular phone.
2:49
Slash
You can be talking to somebody in person and they don't care.
2:51
Adam
Oh, really? Well, that's you. You're a big star. Slash, of course, from Slash's Snake Pit and Guns and Roses and many, many, many other endeavors is going to be on stage again with Michael Jackson coming up for this tribute concert. That's at Madison Square Garden?
3:10
Slash
Yeah, Madison Square Garden, the 7th and the 10th of September, which is coming around the corner right now.
3:15
Adam
Now, are you going to be out for the whole gig or are you just coming out to do Beat It and Black and White?
3:22
Slash
I'm just doing Beat It and Black and White, whatever.
3:26
Adam
And so you'll come out, the crowd will go nuts and you'll go into that. Now, do you practice that?
3:34
Slash
No. Actually, to tell you the truth, when I got asked to do this, they mentioned that song and I've never played that with Michael before. And so it's sort of a weird song because it's the first time that Eddie Van Halen guested with Michael Jackson.
3:48
Adam
Oh yeah, it was him playing it.
3:49
Slash
Yeah, it's an Eddie Van Halen solo. And so of course, I'm going to just play it my own way, but I haven't practiced it. I'll do it at rehearsal.
3:55
Adam
And now, do you play every day? Do you pick up the guitar every day?
4:00
Slash
Pretty much, yeah.
4:01
Adam
And do you do it for an hour a day or three hours a day or just whenever?
4:06
Slash
You know, there's when you're jamming with the band or if you're going in and doing a session or if you were just practicing around the house, that's like for, could be all day long. It could be a couple hours. It could be just half an hour, you know.
4:16
Adam
If you didn't have anything coming up and you didn't have any licks to learn or anything like that, would you just pick the guitar up anyway in a normal day?
4:23
Slash
Yeah, just writing stuff, you know, whatever. I like to, you know, even if it's just watching TV and just having the guitar in the bedroom all the time, you know.
4:30
Adam
Oh, I swear to Christ, Drew.
4:33
Drew
Yep.
4:33
Adam
You know what I'm talking about playing an instrument? Could there be anything better?
4:38
Slash
No, but I love playing guitar though. You got to understand.
4:40
Adam
I know, I know. That's why. I hate that.
4:43
Drew
You know, I heard you jam Adam. You play like crazy.
4:45
Adam
Yeah, but this sound.
4:47
Slash
Can he jam?
4:48
Drew
Oh, yeah. Here he is.
4:49
Adam
Oh, yeah.
4:50
Slash
Nice.
4:50
Adam
Yeah, it's me and John Popper from Blues Traveler. Yeah, that's me on the guitar. All right.
4:58
Slash
There's no guitar.
4:59
Adam
Yeah, I know. That's what John said. So you have a studio in your house?
5:04
Slash
Not really. I had one in the house that I just sold over to Billy Bob and Angeline.
5:11
Adam
Oh, Billy Bob Thornton.
5:12
Slash
Yes, I sold in my studio. So I've yet to build another one. I got to move.
5:15
Adam
You sold on the whole house?
5:17
Slash
Yeah.
5:17
Adam
Why did you move?
5:19
Slash
Just because I finished the Snake Pit record and the house was really big and I bought the house because of the studio. Once I finished the record there, it just seemed like I didn't need the house anymore, so we split.
5:29
Adam
And what's going on with Axle and all that? Didn't he come out with a CD or something? Or what the hell is he doing?
5:34
Slash
I haven't been keeping up with that. You know, all things considered, I remember there was an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie that came out and there's a song in there. But as far as an album is concerned, I'm waiting for the Guns record to come out.
5:47
Adam
Yeah. What's up with that?
5:48
Slash
I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine.
5:51
Adam
Really?
5:51
Slash
Yeah. I'm sure it'll be out at some point. You know, he'll get it together.
5:55
Adam
Well, I mean, you guys ever talk? You ever get together?
5:58
Slash
No, I haven't talked to him since I quit G&R.
6:00
Adam
Are you angry at each other?
6:01
Slash
I think we're over being angry at each other.
6:04
Adam
Just?
6:05
Slash
Yeah. It was just one of those things when I left, everything was so disheveled anyway. When I left, it was just like that was sort of the nail in the coffin in our relationship. I just haven't spoke since. Sort of like an ex-girlfriend thing.
6:19
Adam
Well, sometimes too, and I don't know if this is true, but with ex-girlfriends it is, you don't want to see the person because it was a humiliating, embarrassing time of your life. Like you're almost ashamed of that the last time you saw him.
6:32
Slash
Well, it's far from that.
6:34
Adam
Maybe it is for him.
6:35
Slash
In G&R, it was-
6:36
Adam
Well, I don't mean the band or the music, but I just mean-
6:39
Slash
Just the friction between the two of us? Yeah. I mean, there was stuff that definitely neither one of us really want to go back and think about. So reminding each other about it probably isn't the best thing. At least in the forefront of our minds is not the thing we're-
6:55
Adam
It's the way my dad feels about my mom.
6:58
Drew
And probably you too.
6:59
Adam
Yeah. About my dad and my mom?
7:01
Slash
No.
7:01
Yeah.
7:03
Adam
About Guns N Roses?
7:04
Drew
Yeah.
7:05
Adam
No. I mean, it's like I know my dad doesn't want to see my mom because he's like embarrassed. He feels like an idiot.
7:13
Drew
Good times.
7:13
Adam
Yeah. Good times.
7:15
Slash
Well, let's start the night off with a high note.
7:16
Adam
Yeah.
7:17
Slash
Anyway.
7:17
Adam
All right. So, who cares what Axl's doing? You're going to be-
7:22
Slash
Well, I'm a big GNR fan. I'm waiting for the record to come out.
7:24
Adam
Yeah. Well, how does that work? How's the record come out without you?
7:28
Slash
There's other people playing on it. None of the original guys are in the band.
7:31
Adam
I know. But how does he do that?
7:34
Slash
A lot of people actually answer that. Ask that question.
7:36
Adam
And what about some of the guys who are playing on it? Are you pissed off at them?
7:40
Slash
No. They just got hired. It's not their fault.
7:42
Drew
What a lot of question are you going down, Adam?
7:44
Adam
Well, I'm curious if there's some guy that Slash knows who plays a guitar who used to be a friend of his and now he went over with Axl to cut the new GNR record and Slash is calling them a traitor.
7:56
Slash
No.
7:56
Adam
No. Nothing like that.
7:57
Drew
All right.
7:58
I'm always just trying to stir it up.
7:59
Slash
There was a party just recently and there was a list of all the guests or hosts of this party and there was a couple of the new guys from GNRs. It was like so and so and so and so from Guns N Roses, so and so and so and so from Guns N Roses. My old lady looks at me and she goes, does that bother you? I was like, no, it doesn't. It doesn't really bother me at all. But it was funny at the time.
8:22
Adam
Yeah. What do you do? Just copyright the name or he gets the name?
8:26
Slash
I don't know. There's a little bit of a debate over that.
8:28
Adam
Yeah. I could imagine. All right, Drew, am I going to pick the calls tonight?
8:32
Drew
You are. I'm trying desperately to hook up here and I'm not getting anywhere.
8:35
Adam
All right. I'm just going to start at the top and work my way down.
8:38
Drew
I wouldn't.
8:38
Slash
I'm going to fix my headphones.
8:39
Adam
All right. We call them cans, by the way.
8:42
Slash
My cans.
8:42
Adam
Thank you. Aaron? Yeah. You're 16? Yeah. What's up?
8:47
Caller
Like two months ago, I had back surgery and they put me on OxyContin.
8:53
Drew
Two months ago. You've been on it way too long.
8:57
Caller
It's caused me to just be like lose appetite.
9:02
Drew
You're addicted to it now, right?
9:04
Slash
What's OxyContin?
9:05
Caller
No, actually I'm off of it.
9:06
Adam
Vicodin. What is OxyContin like? What do you say? It's like Vicodin or a painkiller?
9:12
Drew
Yeah. It's a very powerful oral painkiller.
9:14
Slash
I've heard of it.
9:15
Drew
People are into it these days. Yeah.
9:18
Caller
It's also caused me to become like an insomniac too.
9:21
Drew
Oh, you're coming off it now. How long have you been off it?
9:24
Caller
For about two weeks.
9:25
Drew
Oh, well, you're in withdrawal. That withdrawal is going to go on for quite some time. Do you have alcoholism in your family?
9:31
Caller
No, not at all.
9:32
Drew
Okay. Well, these two weeks, maybe even three weeks, are going to be very uncomfortable. Sleeplessness is part of the deal. It's your brain recovering from the saturation with that drug. If you're an addict, what tends to happen is it triggers a mechanism in your brain that causes you to feel this very intense feeling of loss. If you're not an addict, you should just deal with the withdrawal and that will be that.
9:50
Slash
That's the worst thing. It's the first time coming off of something you don't even know it.
9:54
Adam
Slash, you seem very lucid tonight. Are you off whatever?
9:58
Slash
Am I off whatever?
9:59
Adam
I mean, were you ever really on anything?
10:01
Slash
I used to have a lot of problems.
10:02
Adam
What were you into?
10:04
Slash
I used to have a, well, I want to get into a lot of big drug problems.
10:07
Adam
But you're cool now?
10:08
Slash
Yeah. They just made that switch where I decided it was just too much of a pain in the ass and it was too much of a deterrent for my career and so on and so forth. I finally quit. It was hard. Took a long time, but I did.
10:18
Adam
How long have you been sober?
10:20
Slash
Probably, well, off that stuff, probably about nine years.
10:23
Adam
Wow.
10:24
Slash
Wow, look at all the people.
10:25
Adam
Yeah, you seem good.
10:27
Slash
Thanks.
10:27
Adam
You seem sharp.
10:28
Slash
Right?
10:28
Adam
You're on your game.
10:30
Drew
Adam, I can do the calls now.
10:33
Adam
Oh, you can?
10:33
Drew
Yeah, you got to hang them up. You got to put them on hold, but I can pick them.
10:36
Adam
All right, well, go ahead. You would just punch them up?
10:38
Drew
Go ahead with number two. It's fine.
10:39
Adam
All right, I'm just going down the list.
10:42
Yeah.
10:42
Adam
You're 20. What's up?
10:44
Caller
Every time I get a semen on my skin, I break out in like a red bumpy rash.
10:49
Drew
Same guy?
10:50
Caller
Yeah, it's only happened with one guy.
10:54
Drew
The guy with the toxic semen.
10:56
Caller
I actually went to the doctor and she kind of laughed at me.
11:00
Drew
I would say that must have been very comfortable.
11:01
Caller
Seriously.
11:02
Drew
That's a shame. Night after night, I tell people how they shouldn't be ashamed, doctors won't care.
11:09
Adam
Doctor laughed.
11:10
Drew
Now she goes in and he gets laughed at.
11:11
Adam
Where was it? Your back or your forehead? Where was the mark?
11:15
Caller
Like on my legs or on my stomach, especially on my legs.
11:19
Drew
That's the humor.
11:19
Caller
If it gets anywhere on my thighs, like a major rash. My question is, is that going to be a problem when I try and get pregnant?
11:29
Drew
Interesting question. Do you get vaginal irritation too?
11:33
Caller
Because I get irritated, he doesn't ever come inside me.
11:37
Drew
Do you use condoms all the time?
11:38
Slash
Never once?
11:39
Caller
It has happened and it does. It gets really irritated.
11:43
Drew
And so that's why it's all over you. It's not in the condom, it's just all over the place. Good times.
11:49
Adam
So you say he did get some inside of you once and there was irritation?
11:54
Caller
Yeah, it's happened more than once, but yes. It's not good when it gets inside.
11:59
Slash
You ever go to see the doctor?
12:01
Adam
Yes, she did.
12:02
Drew
She laughed.
12:04
Slash
Did he go to see the doctor?
12:05
Adam
Well, that's an interesting point.
12:07
Slash
Or a sperm sample or something.
12:08
Drew
No.
12:09
Adam
Burn right through the Petri dish.
12:10
Slash
Killer sperm beyond the lookout.
12:12
Drew
It's not the killer sperm, it's the killer semen here actually. It doesn't necessarily equate with fertility problems, but if you have fertility problems, they will get into that, that's for sure. Really? Yeah.
12:24
Adam
All right. In the meantime, can you put a ran ramp around yourself or something before you get into it, or use some protection? You know what I mean? Does he have to go on you?
12:36
Slash
He's so rough.
12:38
Adam
What's it do with in your mouth? Does it get in your mouth?
12:41
Caller
No. Because I'm scared like my tongue or something is going to swell up.
12:45
Slash
What kind of major irritation is this?
12:47
Drew
It's allergy.
12:48
Slash
Really?
12:49
Drew
Plain old allergy.
12:49
Caller
It's like a rash.
12:50
Drew
They give you some cream for that?
12:51
Caller
Eat rash.
12:52
Drew
They give you some creams for that?
12:54
Caller
No. The doctor said she never really heard of it, and she kind of laughed, and she said, I'll get back to you when I find out something.
13:00
Drew
Oh, boy. All right. Well, it happened. There is such a thing.
13:04
Adam
Would it just be where the semen made contact with your skin?
13:07
Drew
Yeah. Usually, yeah.
13:08
Adam
So if the guy put his initials or the mark of the devil or something like that.
13:14
Drew
Yeah. It's where your head goes, isn't it?
13:15
Adam
You could actually do it. Well, I'm always thinking.
13:18
Slash
You should try the mouth things.
13:20
Adam
Try the mouth just for fun.
13:22
Drew
You should get the skulls in there.
13:23
Slash
Kicks and giggles.
13:26
Adam
Andrea?
13:27
Slash
Yeah.
13:27
Adam
Oh, Drew, I picked the next call.
13:29
Drew
Yeah, go ahead. That's all right. All right.
13:30
Adam
Andrea, you're 19.
13:31
Drew
Yeah.
13:32
Adam
What's up?
13:33
I got into an accident last week and I have a back problem. I had back problems before, but it's been really bad since then. I've been getting headaches and nauseated and I don't know if it's from the medicine or just because I have a lot of stress right now.
13:48
Drew
What's the medicine?
13:49
It's Scalaxin or something.
13:51
Drew
Yeah, the new Muscle Relaxant.
13:53
Yeah.
13:53
Drew
There's a lot of side effects from that medicine. I would not be surprised at all.
13:56
I'm supposed to take two, three times a day, and then I'm supposed to take-
13:59
Drew
What? You're 19. What's wrong with your back?
14:02
Caller
I don't know. I pulled it out before and I had to go to the emergency room because I couldn't really move. It really hurt. It totally sucked. That time, they put me on Vicodin and Naproxen.
14:14
Drew
Look, is your back pain kick up when you're stressed? Honestly, is that really the big issue when you really have a lot of depression and stress? That's when the back really kicks up. I don't know.
14:23
Caller
I've just noticed that it just goes away and comes. I don't really notice.
14:27
Drew
Adam, you had this when you were depressed.
14:29
Adam
Yeah.
14:29
Caller
Because-
14:30
Adam
Thanks, Drew. Well, now my back's starting to hurt.
14:32
Drew
Well, you can set her straight. If I just say it happens, it won't make sense to her.
14:37
Adam
Listen, Andrew, you need to stretch and do some yoga and start thinking happy thoughts.
14:42
Caller
Well, I was given physical exercises to do and stuff. I mean, they feel good at the time, but it hurts later.
14:50
Adam
I'm just saying, if at age 19, your back keeps going out and you're getting on to painkillers and muscle relaxers, it's going to be a long haul because this stuff shouldn't crop up at 19.
15:01
Drew
That's right.
15:01
Caller
Well, I stopped taking them because I got them last Thursday.
15:07
Drew
Yeah, but the point is look into how there might be an emotional basis to some of this. I'm not saying there is not a musculoskeletal also, but you're 19, taking a lot of medication, getting side effects from the medicines, I don't know.
15:16
Adam
Drew, what percentage of people that have like bad backs are just kind of nuts, depressed, or hooked on painkillers? What percentage?
15:24
Drew
I don't know the percentage.
15:26
Adam
Percentage under age 35.
15:28
Drew
Most of the ones that call this show.
15:31
Adam
Let me say this, Drew. Yeah, go ahead.
15:33
Slash
The whole thing was just about stress. There was no physical activity or anything.
15:37
Drew
Probably not.
15:38
Adam
She said, no, she said she got into a car accident.
15:42
Drew
Yeah, but again, it comes and it goes magically and they can't explain why. That's when you start thinking and she's talking about how she's under stress all the time.
15:51
Adam
But at 19, you're supposed to be able to be floating on a pool raft and have a buddy do a cannonball into your stomach.
15:58
Drew
That's right.
15:59
Adam
And be fine. Both come out. And have enough energy to beat the ass out of him. So getting rear-ended at six miles an hour is not supposed to ruin you for life. But what do these muscle relaxants do, Drew?
16:12
Drew
Some of them, they don't know, actually. And some of them are rather sedating. And the Schalexon is one of the new ones. It's got a lot of side effects to it. And for 19-year-old views, and that seems a little bit extreme to me.
16:20
Adam
Does it just kind of relax you? Or does it actually do something to your muscles?
16:24
Drew
No, it actually loosens the muscle contractile for us. Yeah.
16:27
Adam
Well, I got to get me some of them. Patti?
16:29
Slash
I know. That's the thing.
16:30
Adam
Yeah, sign me up.
16:30
Slash
Listen. I guess they're getting hooked on these.
16:31
Adam
All these things sound good.
16:33
Slash
Nothing to do with anything that's wrong with you.
16:34
Drew
Soma is converted by your body into Milltown.
16:38
Adam
What the hell's Milltown?
16:40
Drew
Meprobamate. It's extremely addictive.
16:42
Adam
So? Oh, Soma, the muscle relaxes?
16:45
Drew
That's right.
16:46
Adam
All right. Who cares? Patti?
16:49
Yeah?
16:49
Adam
You're 32?
16:50
Caller
Right.
16:50
Adam
You're on with Slash.
16:52
Caller
Hi. How are you?
16:53
Slash
I'm doing fine. How are you?
16:54
Caller
I'm fine.
16:56
Slash
So what's up?
16:56
Caller
Well, I have a small problem. My husband thinks it's funny by pinching my nipples.
17:02
Drew
It is funny.
17:05
Caller
No, but now I have a small bump underneath my breast.
17:08
Slash
Because of him pinching your nipples?
17:10
Caller
Right. Right under the bottom of your pink line on your nipple.
17:13
Slash
Right.
17:16
Caller
It hurts and he thinks it's funny.
17:19
Adam
Why do you think the pinching has caused it?
17:22
Caller
The lump? Yeah.
17:26
Slash
Is it right where the soreness is from the pinching?
17:28
Caller
Right.
17:29
Adam
But you say he pinches your nipples.
17:31
Caller
Right.
17:32
Adam
But it's not your nipple. I mean isn't he getting you on the end?
17:37
Caller
Well the end and the middle of the nipple part right there.
17:41
Adam
Well wait a minute. Let's turn this into two things. Where's the lump at?
17:44
Slash
You said underneath the breast?
17:46
Caller
Right. Well you know how the nipple has the roundness around it?
17:49
Slash
Yeah, Oriola.
17:51
Adam
Yeah, Oriola. Well let's call it the hub and the wheel. The hub is the center part and then the wheel goes around it or we'll say the tire goes around it. That will represent the Oriola. Now when you say pinch you in the nipples, I picture him pinching you in the hub.
18:07
Drew
Yeah.
18:07
Adam
But you're saying he's taking on the whole wheel.
18:10
Caller
Right. Sometimes the whole wheel as you call it.
18:15
Drew
Well he can hurt you that way. Listen, any sort of woman, any lumps under there really need to be checked down. Your 32, 32 year olds do get breast cancer. Maybe you just think it's the pinching, but maybe there's something going on there.
18:26
Adam
It doesn't seem like his pinching would do it. I mean, is he doing it all the time?
18:30
Caller
He does it all the time.
18:31
Adam
Why don't you kick him in the nuts?
18:35
Slash
Do you like it when he does it?
18:37
Caller
I don't know, it hurts.
18:37
Slash
Tell him to stop doing it and also check the lump out, too, to make sure there's nothing else.
18:41
Caller
I've been telling him, he thinks it's funny.
18:43
Slash
It wouldn't be funny if something seriously actually came out of it.
18:46
Drew
Well, you can scar and you can get little inflammations, mastitis back there, but more importantly, you want to make sure it's not a tumor.
18:51
Slash
You can get addicted to it.
18:52
Drew
You want to make sure it's not a tumor. The tumor wouldn't be caused by the pinching, it's just something you notice because of the pinching.
18:59
Adam
All right, so maybe you saved your life, Maddie, through early detection.
19:03
Caller
Okay.
19:04
Adam
All right, and listen, you've got to learn to control your husband a little bit.
19:08
Caller
Well, I try.
19:09
Adam
You've been married to the guy for nine years, you can't get him to quit doing something annoying.
19:14
Caller
No, he won't quit.
19:15
Adam
Can't you cut him off sexually?
19:17
Drew
I tried. Hey, listen, that'll make a guy stop.
19:20
Slash
You do that, you don't get this kind of thing.
19:21
Adam
Yeah, it works like a charm.
19:23
Drew
Yeah, guys don't stop.
19:24
Adam
It's time out for your balls. Hold on, Drew, that's going to be the name of my next book. Time out for your balls. It's the way you discipline adults.
19:33
Drew
Adam, time out for testes.
19:35
Adam
Time out for testes. Good, Drew. That's right, alliteration. Perfect. Yeah, this is the way and after the title, it says like the fast way to discipline your man. Time out for testes. Drew, write that down. That's going to be your next book.
19:52
Drew
My next book, okay.
19:53
Adam
Maggie?
19:54
Caller
Yeah?
19:55
Adam
You're 20?
19:56
Caller
Yes, I will.
19:57
Adam
What's up?
19:57
Yes?
19:59
Caller
First of all, I used to have really great orgasms, sometimes multiples. Recently, I went on a car trip and I had to hold my pee for a really long time because there was no bathroom. And it got to the point where it was kind of painful. I probably should have gone inside of the door a little bit. Anyway. And ever since then, my orgasms have not been as great. And I'm wondering if I've strained something down there or...
20:27
Drew
How long has it been?
20:29
Caller
A week.
20:30
Drew
A week.
20:30
A week and a half.
20:32
Adam
What do you think? Maybe just the emotional trauma of holding your urine?
20:36
Drew
No, I don't think so. But Adam, you and I do this every night on the radio. We're okay, right?
20:41
Adam
Yeah. Yeah, and I hold it and then I go take a leak during the commercial and I beat one out, too. So everything works fine. Don't act surprised, Drew. All right. So, hey, Maggie, so you don't think it's anything psychological?
20:57
Drew
You didn't start some medication or something?
21:00
No. I just...
21:01
Drew
I mean, it might have irritated the area. It might be having some problem, but it shouldn't be anything permanent. That would be too weird.
21:06
Caller
Okay.
21:07
Slash
Are you with the same guy?
21:09
Caller
Yeah.
21:10
Adam
Why couldn't you pull over and take a leak?
21:13
Caller
I just... I don't know. I have this thing. I don't like to go and...
21:17
Slash
How many... How long did you have to hold it?
21:20
Caller
Oh.
21:20
Slash
Six weeks?
21:21
Caller
Twenty minutes.
21:23
Drew
Twenty minutes.
21:24
Caller
No, you're fine. I mean, like when I was in pain for twenty minutes.
21:29
Adam
All right. You'll bounce back. Take a warm bath and pee on. Pee. You guys ever get this? This has happened to me multiple times, which is you're having some kind of meeting or something with a bunch of high-falutin guys you don't know. You drank way too much coffee that morning, and at the beginning of the meeting, you go, jeez, I got to take a leak. And you get up, you go to the bathroom, you take a leak. It's always weird excusing yourself to take a leak when there's eight or ten guys who are like sitting around a big board table. But you go and you take the leak, and then you come back and you sit there, and now the meeting's going on a little longer than you planned. It's about an hour later and you think to yourself, holy Christ, I got to take another leak because I didn't get out that pot of coffee I drank on the way in, and you're thinking, no way, I'm not getting up again because it's weird now. Like now I'm going for my second leak.
22:17
Slash
I keep going to the bathroom.
22:19
Adam
Yeah. Drew, I took two leaks in front of Ivan Reitman last week.
22:23
Drew
But that was just sort of bashful pee-pee. You know what I mean? Bashful.
22:29
Adam
I don't know what it is, but it's either like game on or game off with the leaking, and when it's going, it's going, and otherwise, I'm not doing it for eight or 10 hours. Otherwise, I'm on it every hour. Nice. Slash, you ever sit back?
22:43
Drew
Too much information.
22:44
Slash
Yeah, right. I'm in the gray area.
22:46
Adam
You don't get that? Slash, they think you're doing drugs, right? Like when you go, I got to go to the bathroom.
22:52
Slash
In the old days, yeah, I'm sure.
22:54
Adam
Because you were doing drugs, right?
22:55
Slash
Yeah, at the time, yeah.
22:56
Adam
All right. Slash is here from Slash's Snake Pit, and going to be on stage with Michael Jackson coming up next month, and that's going to be like a HBO special or something?
23:08
Slash
It's on TV. I don't know which channel it's on. Actually, I don't have the information. All right.
23:12
Adam
So it looks like he hasn't been in concert a while, right?
23:15
Slash
Last time he was in concert, I played his show in Korea.
23:21
Adam
Wow.
23:21
Slash
And he had a major accident at that gig where he went, there was, how to explain it, there was these big ramps that came up in the front of the stage that went up about 50 feet. And in the middle where he was standing, he was in sort of like a crane box.
23:36
Adam
Right.
23:37
Slash
And he was singing from up there and I was playing guitar down below. And I had my eyes shut and all of a sudden I felt this big gush of wind and then there was this thud. And the hydraulics had failed on this thing. And finally the back of hydraulics caught him just about at the bottom.
23:54
Adam
Right. So he fell 30 feet or something?
23:56
Slash
A good 30 feet or so.
23:57
Adam
You know, I was watching the Madonna concert.
24:00
Slash
But he finished the show and everything.
24:01
Adam
And he didn't break anything or anything?
24:03
Slash
No. But it was pretty hair raising.
24:05
Adam
You got to figure, like I was thinking when I was watching this Madonna concert last week on HBO, she's got the cables and she's flying around like a crouching tiger, hidden dragon. And I'm thinking to myself, with all the pyrotechnics and all the cables going on now and all the hydraulics and everything, something's going to go wrong one of these times for one of these acts. And when it does go wrong, it's going to be like a plane crashing. I mean, it's going to be a big deal.
24:33
Slash
Usually the pyrotechnics are the first ones to get you, the flashpots. You remember what happened to James Hedfield in Metallica, right?
24:40
Adam
Yeah, he got nailed and Michael Jackson caught on fire at the Pepsi commercial.
24:45
Slash
If they hadn't had a backup hydraulic for this thing, I mean, he would have been gone. It would have happened way too fast and too far down.
24:52
Adam
And whoever's underneath him potentially can get it too.
24:57
Slash
Exactly, because if that had really collapsed and it would have exploded.
25:00
Adam
Slash, and your hair would go up like a Roman candle if you got too close to anything.
25:05
Slash
Well, I smoke cigarettes when I'm playing, so I burn my hair all the time.
25:08
Adam
Yeah, you should wear a net. You should wear a hair net up there. I know it's not cool, but it would be a lot safer.
25:13
Slash
Right.
25:14
Adam
All right, I'm going to convince Slash to wear a hair net next time he gets out on stage. Drew's over there in DC. We're out here in LA and we'll be back right after this.
25:33
Loveline, I'll be right back.
25:59
Adam
Hey, it's Loveline. I'm Adam. That's Drew in Washington, DC tonight in studio. Slash is here. Slash is Snake Pit, is his current band, also going to be on stage with Michael Jackson. And that's going to be, what is that, on September?
26:17
Slash
7th and the 10th.
26:18
Adam
And that is going to air on CBS. And what's going on with Snake Pit?
26:22
Slash
Well, we just finished a real grueling tour when that album came out, Ain't Life Grand, came out in October. So, we just finished this past July. And just toured all over the place. But the last tour that we did was a grueling six night a week, coast to coast tour in a bus. It was great. So, it was like reinvented in my mind what I love about being in a rock and roll band, you know?
26:45
Adam
You're into it? It's not old?
26:46
Slash
No, actually it was sort of reminiscent of the early Guns days. So, it was really fun. Completely haphazard the entire way, you know?
26:53
Adam
Right. And what's going on? You got new, you're going back in the studio?
26:57
Slash
Yeah, I'm starting working on new material.
27:00
Adam
Take a little sip there. All right. So, we'll look forward to a new snake pit CD coming out soon.
27:06
Slash
I'm not sure what it's going to be, actually, to tell you the truth. I'm going to do something really bitching, so I'm not sure.
27:10
Adam
But is it going to be a snake pit thing or is this going to be a Slash thing?
27:13
Slash
It's going to be a Slash thing.
27:14
Adam
All right. Drew? Yep. You ready to go?
27:17
Drew
Let's go.
27:17
Adam
You want to pick the call?
27:19
Drew
Yeah.
27:19
Adam
Where you got this thing?
27:20
Drew
Hang on a second. Didn't it go up?
27:22
Adam
No.
27:22
Drew
Hold on one second.
27:25
Slash
Wow. Major technology going on.
27:26
Drew
There you go.
27:27
Adam
Heather?
27:28
Caller
Hi.
27:28
Adam
Hey, you're 19.
27:29
Caller
Yeah.
27:30
Adam
What's up?
27:30
Slash
Hey, you're 19.
27:31
Adam
Hey.
27:32
Caller
Yeah, I am.
27:33
Caller
Actually, I just wanted to talk to Slash.
27:35
Adam
Here he is.
27:36
Caller
Yeah.
27:36
Caller
Hi.
27:37
Caller
Hi.
27:38
Caller
First, I just wanted to say that I was in the Guns and Roses ever since I was 14.
27:44
Slash
You're right.
27:46
Caller
You guys were the first hard rock band that I ever got into actually.
27:50
Slash
That's cool.
27:53
Caller
Yeah, and I wish I could have seen you guys because you looked like a really awesome live band.
27:56
Slash
It was a killer live band. You know, that was my favorite part about it.
28:00
Caller
Yeah. And, well, you just answered my question, basically, you know, about Internet Slash's Snake Put album. And I was also just wondering if you ever do talk to, like, any of the other guys, you know, besides Axl, like Duff or Matt?
28:16
Slash
Yeah, I talked to Duff yesterday, and I talked to Matt all the time, and I talked to Izzy on occasion. So we've always been cool, you know, the back line, you know, the workhorses of the band, you know.
28:27
Adam
Matt, I ran into, like, a month ago at the K-Rock Weenie Roast. He was playing with the cult, right?
28:34
Slash
Yeah, he's back in the cult. I pulled him from the cult, and then when guns broke up, he went back to the cult.
28:38
Adam
Yeah, the cult sounds good.
28:39
Slash
Yeah, it sounds great.
28:40
Adam
Matt seems real, like, real good, real healthy.
28:43
Slash
He's awesome. He calls me from the road and stuff, you know, and I ask where he's at.
28:48
Adam
Hold on. There we go.
28:49
Slash
That was my phone.
28:51
Adam
Yeah, I like him. All right, Drew, you ready to go? Annette? Annette?
28:57
Hello.
28:58
Adam
Hey, 23. What's up?
29:00
Okay.
29:00
Caller
I waited for an HSG on Monday, and that's where they shoot the dye through your tubes to see if they're blocked.
29:06
Adam
What?
29:07
Drew
It's a hysterosalpingogram.
29:09
Caller
Thank you very much.
29:09
Drew
They light up the tubes with the x-ray material.
29:13
Caller
Correct. They've seen that I had a couple blockages on each side, but what's really concerning me is that they found that my uterus is kind of overlapping my left lopian tube. So now they're wanting to go in and do a laparoscopy.
29:25
Drew
Right.
29:26
Caller
And I'm just wondering what's involved in that, and is that going to lessen my chances of becoming pregnant?
29:32
Drew
No. It might actually improve it. That's the whole idea. Get rid of the scarring of this endometriosis, treat that. And what they do is they put sort of a scope into your belly and they inflate it with a gas so they can look around, and then they correct anything they find while they're there.
29:47
Adam
What do they inflate?
29:49
Drew
The whole, so the abdominal cavity so they can look around in it.
29:51
Adam
How do they do that? Doesn't it leak out the vagina?
29:54
Drew
No, no.
29:55
Adam
No? There's not a...
29:56
Slash
She's laughing.
29:57
Adam
They don't have to plug that up?
29:58
Drew
No.
29:59
Adam
Really?
30:00
Drew
It's not like we're a balloon.
30:03
Adam
It's not.
30:04
Drew
Like Adamic connects with the outside world. That way, Adam, things might fall out of the vagina too.
30:08
Adam
Right, like kids and tampons and whatnot.
30:11
Drew
Lose change.
30:12
Adam
That's right.
30:13
Drew
That's sick.
30:14
Adam
Meter money. And how do they inflate that? Just put air into it?
30:19
Drew
I haven't seen one of those in a long time. It was like a gas.
30:21
Slash
It's not an operation where you go in with tools and start moving things around.
30:25
Drew
Oh, yes. It's an operation. And you're under anesthesia when you have it done.
30:27
Slash
That's good.
30:28
So what do they do?
30:29
Caller
They sew down the uterus?
30:30
Is that what they do to keep it in place so it won't happen again?
30:33
Drew
I'm not quite sure what you're talking about when you just start with the uterus being over the fallopian tube. You're talking about maybe endometriosis? Is that what you're talking about?
30:40
Caller
They didn't say anything about that.
30:41
Drew
I think you're talking about endometriosis. You're talking about pieces of the uterine lining getting over on the tubes, right?
30:45
It was actually the whole uterus. I mean-
30:47
Drew
Flopped over. Yeah. I don't know if they'd really necessarily change that.
30:52
Oh, really?
30:53
Adam
Is there that much room in there to move around, Drew, for stuff to flop around?
30:57
Drew
Oh, yeah.
30:57
Adam
There is?
30:58
Drew
Oh, yeah.
30:59
Adam
Really?
30:59
Drew
Even one tube can flop over and get an egg from the other side.
31:02
Adam
Oh, my God. All right.
31:05
Caller
Well, thank you very much.
31:05
Slash
Drew, you're an endless source of information.
31:08
Drew
Yeah, important stuff too, huh?
31:10
Adam
All right.
31:11
Caller
Well, thank you.
31:11
Adam
All right. Good times. Let's talk the line three here. Carl, who's 17. Carl? Hey. What's up?
31:18
Caller
Hey, what's happening? I just want to say, Adam, you are an incredible genius.
31:24
Adam
Thank you.
31:24
Caller
If we still had kings going on, you should be king.
31:27
Drew
You were king of Booneville, weren't you, Adam?
31:30
Adam
Yes, but that didn't last long. There was a coup.
31:33
Slash
Three minutes, was it?
31:34
Adam
I was ousted, yeah. What's up?
31:37
Caller
Yeah. I just wanted to also say hi to Slash there. You're an insane rocker. I've been listening to you for a long, long time.
31:45
Slash
Thanks.
31:47
Caller
Okay. My question is, I've known this girl since about first grade.
31:53
Slash
How old were you again?
31:54
Adam
I'm 17.
31:55
Drew
17.
31:56
Caller
I'm not sure how long that would be, but I've known this girl since about first grade, and I have a feeling for her. I've talked to her about it a couple of times. Nothing really seriously, but right now, it's kind of like...
32:11
Drew
You've talked to her about the fact that you're attracted to her?
32:13
Caller
Yeah.
32:13
Drew
What does she say?
32:16
Caller
We kind of talked about it nonchalantly, and it kind of passed by. This is a couple of years ago, and never brought it up again.
32:25
Adam
So she wasn't into you?
32:26
Drew
She's not into me, yeah.
32:27
Caller
Well, no, it's more... We just... have been such best friends, it's kind of hard.
32:32
Drew
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't get yourself...
32:35
Adam
Not into you. How do guys get away with this emotionally? I mean, how do they rationalize it over and over again on this show? I've been into this chick for twelve years. I confronted her and told her about my feelings. We had a discussion on it, and then I go, okay, she's not into you. Well, no, no, no, no, she's into me. We just never did anything. We never turned in anything.
32:56
Slash
There is a sort of awkwardness with people that have known each other for a really long time that like each other a lot.
33:01
Drew
True.
33:02
Slash
They're really close friends, and they can't seem to get over that.
33:05
Adam
But if she felt half of what he felt, they'd be together.
33:09
Drew
Right. Carl, think about it. If you're into a girl and she says suddenly that she'd like to do something more, you wouldn't wait 10 seconds.
33:17
Adam
All right. So that was a few years ago.
33:19
Caller
I've dated many other girls and it's not been that big of an issue where it's been ruling my life or anything like that.
33:27
Adam
But she ever had a problem with you dating the other girls?
33:30
Caller
No, no, never.
33:31
Adam
That's bad too. So now.
33:35
Caller
But it's difficult because our families are so close and that's kind of hard. So I just hypothetically, if I were to ask her anything like that, how would I go about?
33:46
Drew
Anything like what?
33:47
Caller
Talking to her.
33:48
Adam
You want to ask her out again?
33:49
Caller
Feelings and stuff.
33:51
Drew
You already tried, didn't you?
33:53
Adam
Well, that was a couple of years ago.
33:54
Slash
What's up now? What's current?
33:57
Adam
You were 15 when he asked her, right?
33:59
Caller
About. It wasn't more asking her. We were kind of admitting each other that we had feelings for each other.
34:06
Drew
No, you were admitting.
34:08
Caller
No, she did admit.
34:09
Adam
She admitted she had feelings for you?
34:11
Drew
He sweated her out.
34:14
Slash
I'll give the guy half a chance here.
34:16
Drew
No, Slash, we hear this all the time.
34:18
Caller
Do you think I should just drop it or what?
34:21
Adam
Well, wait a second.
34:22
Drew
Be realistic.
34:23
Adam
You can try again, but here's the bottom line with women. The bottom line is the bottom line.
34:30
Drew
They're either dating you or they're aren't.
34:31
Right.
34:32
Adam
All the talk about I love you too much or I like you, but I don't like you like you and of course I share the same feelings. It's all talk.
34:41
Slash
I don't like you that way.
34:43
Adam
Right.
34:43
Drew
I like like you.
34:45
Adam
But I don't like like like you.
34:47
Slash
I would say just back off and wait and see if she makes a move and she doesn't just get on with your life.
34:51
Adam
Well, she ain't going to make a move because she would have done it because she knows about Carl's feelings. So Carl, you can try one more time and you want to know how to try.
35:02
Caller
Yeah.
35:03
Adam
What about just asking her instead of having that heavy conversation where you talk about your feelings and-
35:09
Caller
It's not so much. I mean, it is so much feelings. I mean, it's more I want to just kind of take it to the next level.
35:15
Slash
I'm going to take her to dinner and a movie, right?
35:17
Caller
Right.
35:17
Adam
Why don't you just ask her out? You know what I'm saying? What's wrong with that?
35:24
Slash
You got tickets for a hot concert coming up or something.
35:26
Adam
I mean, ask her out.
35:29
Caller
I mean, we've been pretty much best friends and I mean, she's pretty much like my sister.
35:33
Adam
OK, listen, Wuss, do you want to get in her pants or not? What's your plan?
35:39
Caller
Yeah, eventually, yes.
35:40
Adam
Eventually, like in your 60s?
35:42
Caller
No, no.
35:43
Adam
You've been into this chick for 12 years.
35:45
Caller
Well, I've kept it more in the back of my mind. I mean, I've been in many other pants.
35:50
Adam
All right. Is this guy high or what? What is he asking?
35:54
Drew
Whatever it is, he doesn't like us telling him anything. He doesn't want anything from us.
35:58
Adam
Listen, A-hole, did you call this show wanting advice or not? OK, you have two choices. You have three choices. You can sit on this and never bring it up again, OK? You can go have a heart to heart with her and talk about your feelings, which is probably going to get uncomfortable and not work, or you can just ask her out on a date and hope that it goes well. Those are your three choices. Which one you want to do?
36:25
Drew
Is it because you know the answer that she doesn't want to date you? Is that why you're afraid to ask?
36:30
Caller
It's more I'm assuming, at all. I shouldn't assume, so.
36:33
Adam
Well, no. You have it. You're basing it on something, which is 12 years of nothing.
36:39
Slash
Right. Is your heart going to be totally broken if she says no? I mean, what have you got to lose at this point? Right.
36:46
Drew
But I think the reason he's not asking is because he knows the answer.
36:48
Adam
Yeah. It's the same reason you don't ask for a raise. You're going to get fired. Okay.
36:54
Slash
Make a joke of it, you know.
36:55
Adam
Carl, just ask her out.
36:58
Caller
All right.
36:58
Adam
All right?
36:59
Caller
I will do.
36:59
Adam
All right. Good times.
37:00
Caller
Can I talk to the receptionist?
37:02
Adam
You are an asshole. You want to ask her out or you want to prank us? But here's the thing, Carl. You can't ask her out, like, to a matinee because she's going to think you're buddies and you're just going, you know. You got to ask her out, ask her out.
37:16
Slash
I can't take her to see Deep Throat either.
37:18
Adam
Right. Well, you could, but... And try to work a little booze into the equation. Nice. It's going to help. All right. He's depressed, but what do you want us to say?
37:28
Slash
Drew, are you backing that?
37:30
Adam
The booze?
37:31
Drew
No, yeah, of course.
37:33
Adam
What did he want us to say?
37:34
Drew
I know.
37:35
Adam
Guys are so screwed up in this department, especially when they're 17. Here's the catch-22 is, I really dig her, I want to ask her out, but I know she's going to say no, so I don't want to ask her out. But instead, I'll just sort of...
37:49
Drew
Obsess...
37:49
Adam
.masturbate in shame for the rest of my life. Okay, oh no, that's my job. Slash is here. Drew is over in DC. We're going to take a break. When we come back, who are we going to talk to, Drew?
38:01
Drew
Talk to Line 5, Tonya?
38:06
Adam
Yeah. What do you want?
38:07
Drew
You read it?
38:08
Adam
Yeah. She wants to puke when she has sex with her boyfriend.
38:11
Drew
Interesting.
38:12
Adam
We'll get to that after this.
38:22
Drew
We'll be right back.
38:45
Adam
Hey, everybody. Loveline. I'm Adam. That's Dr. Drew over there in Washington, DC. Where are you in DC there, Drew?
38:54
Drew
I'm right next to George Washington University. It's sort of just off Pennsylvania Avenue, about six blocks from the White House.
39:00
Adam
And what are you, the Westwood One studio over there?
39:03
Drew
Yeah.
39:03
Adam
Good times. Slash is here. Slash is going to be on stage with Michael Jackson, coming up September 8th and 9th, is it?
39:12
Slash
Yeah.
39:13
Adam
Madison Square Garden?
39:15
Slash
No, no, 7th and 10th.
39:16
Adam
7th and 10th. All right. I'm going to start writing this down. And that sounds just like one of the coolest things ever.
39:22
Slash
There's a whole bunch of people on the roster for that one. A bunch of guest appearances and stuff.
39:27
Adam
Who else is on there?
39:28
Slash
Whitney Houston, Diana Ross. The list is endless. I just don't have a copy of it in front of me.
39:34
Adam
I'm guessing if Michael Jackson says, come out and play, people tend to do it. And plus, he hasn't done it in a while. And plus, I guess people might get the idea that he may not be going around that many more times.
39:47
Slash
I mean, it's really hard to tell with him. Because when he does a tour, he does a full blown, you know, big production world tour. This is just two shows and the record comes out in October.
39:57
Adam
Right.
39:58
Slash
And I suppose he's going to tour on that one. But I think what he's really doing is just a heads up, Michael's back kind of thing, you know, making a big deal.
40:05
Adam
Now Slash is going to play Beat It in black and white. And now like when you get the guitar, you make the entrance on stage, right? Now you have a cordless guitar.
40:17
Slash
Yeah, it's a wireless.
40:18
Adam
Wireless. And you start playing. Now do you start like playing as you're walking out? You don't go out there and stand around and start playing. You like start playing and walking, right?
40:27
Slash
Well, it's actually, you know, there's not a lot of forethought, you know, like come out, there's an intro to black or white, depending on what the lighting cue is or whatever. And I just come in just where I where the song naturally comes in at and I do whatever I want. I just sort of just play in any spot that I want to. So basically I just get out there for the first chord is my thing.
40:47
Adam
Right. And then into the that one I've never played before.
40:51
Slash
That's something I've never played before.
40:53
Adam
And you don't want to start practicing.
40:56
Slash
That's funny. No, actually, to be honest, I picked up the guitar and made sure I knew what it was by ear today.
41:01
Adam
Do you do you need that you have the record? I just got it.
41:05
Slash
I just got it.
41:06
Adam
Don't tell Michael.
41:07
Slash
No, no, I mean, I just, all my CDs are in storage. All things considered, because I'm moving. So we ordered some off the internet.
41:15
Adam
So all you have to do is hear the riff on the CD and then you can just pretty much replicate it, right? It's not going to take too much more than that.
41:23
Slash
It's not rocket science.
41:25
Adam
Tanya?
41:26
Caller
Yeah?
41:27
Adam
You're 17?
41:28
Caller
Yeah.
41:28
Adam
What's up? Oh, you want to puke when you have sex with your boyfriend?
41:32
Caller
Yeah, sometimes.
41:34
Drew
You mean as part of sort of, I'm not sure I'm clear, because you get so upset that you get, you want to vomit or something happens?
41:41
Caller
No, I think I just get so worked up that I just like, I just feel nauseous.
41:46
Slash
Is it like exciting vomiting, like the kind that you get when you hyperventilate?
41:51
Adam
Like what athletes do before the big game?
41:53
Slash
I do it when I'm playing sometimes.
41:54
Caller
I don't know. I'm not real sure.
41:56
Caller
I'm not, I don't know.
41:58
Drew
Do you have pain, abdominal pain?
42:00
Caller
Yeah.
42:00
Caller
I just, I just feel real queasy. And I just, I've actually thrown up once, like before we had sex.
42:06
Drew
But you're not upset. You were happy about the interaction you're having with the boyfriend.
42:10
Really happy.
42:12
Drew
Do you have any urinary symptoms, or hurt when you pee, or anything like that?
42:15
Uh-uh.
42:16
Drew
And again, no pain with the intercourse?
42:18
No.
42:19
Slash
So you're, you're just naturally into it. Maybe you just get overwhelmed by it.
42:25
Caller
I don't know.
42:26
Adam
Do you, do you have any history we need to know about? Any guy like ever rape you at a buffet or something?
42:33
Caller
No. No.
42:34
Slash
Do you do drugs?
42:36
Caller
No.
42:36
Okay.
42:37
Hmm.
42:38
Drew
Well, again, you made us be getting too worked up. How long are you guys sort of engage in your sex?
42:43
Caller
Like, 13 months.
42:44
Drew
No, no, no. Each time. How long is it going on for?
42:47
Caller
Um, like, sometimes like 15 to 30 minutes. It just depends.
42:50
Adam
And when do you feel like vomiting?
42:52
Caller
Well, sometimes it happens like we'll have sex like one time and then we'll stop and then, you know, hook it up again and then we'll have sex. And like the second or third time is usually when I get really nauseous.
43:03
Adam
Hmm. Does he have a water bed?
43:06
Caller
No.
43:06
Caller
That's a good question.
43:08
Adam
Plain a hunch. How about the oral sex? You do that for him?
43:11
Caller
Um, yeah.
43:12
Adam
Does that make you want to vomit?
43:14
Caller
Um, sometimes, I could have a really bad guy reflex too.
43:17
Adam
Yeah. Yeah, me too. It's bad. Hey, Tonya, I don't know what the answer to this is. Do you do it at night? Like, what about if you did a different part of the day? You know what I mean?
43:28
Caller
I've done it every time in the day you could think of, I guess. I mean, I've done it like late at night, I've done it in the evening, I've done it in the afternoon.
43:36
Slash
Once again, is this always with the same guy?
43:38
Caller
Yeah.
43:39
Slash
So is that the only guy you've ever been with? No. Did it happen with the other guys?
43:44
Caller
The very first guy I was with, the first time he ever really tried to touch me or anything, I got kind of, my heart started beating really, really fast.
43:52
Drew
All right. So you- Wait a minute. Maybe you have some sort of a heart rhythm disturbance. Have you ever had that checked out?
43:58
Caller
I'm pretty sure I don't. My parents are like paramedics and stuff, and I'm pretty sure nothing else is wrong with me.
44:04
Adam
Wait, like your parents would know? Because they're paramedics?
44:08
Slash
Have you talked to them about this?
44:09
Drew
Not really. It would be hard to.
44:14
Adam
Look, the fact that your parents are paramedics doesn't mean you couldn't have some sort of heart abnormality.
44:19
Caller
Yeah, but I mean like I'm always getting checked out for all kinds of things. I just have like all kinds of test runs on me all the time.
44:25
Adam
Okay, all right.
44:26
Caller
I have an ulcer.
44:27
Does that mean with that?
44:28
Drew
Your what?
44:29
Adam
She has an ulcer.
44:30
Drew
Well, yeah. Do you take any other medication?
44:33
I take private food.
44:35
Drew
Just for the stomach.
44:36
Adam
But the fact that she has an ulcer at 17, does that mean she maybe does a lot of worrying or fretting?
44:40
Drew
Yeah, that you've got to sort of tend towards that. Is there ulcer disease in your family?
44:45
Caller
A disease?
44:46
Drew
Ulcers?
44:47
Caller
Oh, ulcers, yeah.
44:48
Drew
Were you checked for any infection in the stomach?
44:51
Caller
No, but my ulcer, like really deep in my intestines and stuff, in my stomach and down to my intestines, it's pretty bad, I guess.
44:59
Drew
So you have issues with your stomach. Do you take a lot of aspirin and anti-inflammatory?
45:02
Adam
I put her on hold. Who cares? I'm done. We've spent too much time on her. But here's the thing. I think she worries a lot. She says her heart starts beating real fast and she has an ulcer at 17. I know she has a family history of it. But I think if she stays with this one guy, becomes more relaxed with this one guy, this will probably subside.
45:24
Slash
It sounds like she gets really uppity and nervous about the thought of what she's about to do. And just gets bent out of shape.
45:34
Adam
Yeah. She's got to be a little more relaxed like us. David?
45:39
Hello?
45:39
Adam
You're 30. What's up?
45:41
Caller
Hey. Good evening. I actually have two questions. First of all, what started this whole 80s movement back in style with the rock thing? And Adam, how many times a day do you master it? How many times do you consider, you know, up until what point where is it unhealthy?
45:56
Slash
Unhealthy.
45:57
Adam
Oh, you mean personally or for you?
45:59
Caller
You know, mentally. I mean, for anyone my age, 30.
46:02
Adam
I see. All right. So what about, what 80s rock thing is coming back?
46:07
Caller
Well, the whole long hair, you know, pegging the pants, the whole 80s rock band.
46:12
Adam
You know, doesn't everything get popular about 20 years after it went out? I mean, the 70s was coming around in the mid 90s. And now that we're heading toward the mid 2000s, the 80s are going to come around and then we'll enjoy. But here's the confusing part.
46:28
Slash
The scary part is when we hit the 90s, right?
46:30
Adam
Well, here's the scary part. The scary part is, is if we're doing the 80s now, then 20 years from now when we have to recreate what we're doing now, aren't we going to have to recreate the 80s again? Because that's what we're doing now. Is that not it?
46:44
Slash
Maybe we'll take a leap and we'll go back to the 40s for a second.
46:48
Caller
Was there something that caused it to go back though? I mean, was there anything in particular?
46:52
Slash
Not that I know of. I have a hard time with trends coming and going and trying to follow what everybody else is doing.
47:00
Adam
Yeah, Slash pretty much looks like the same Slash I saw five years ago and then five years before that with GNR. Slash looks like Slash. Drew looks like Drew too. Drew was bad ten years ago. He's bad now.
47:14
Slash
And Mr. Rogers still looks like Mr. Rogers. I saw him today.
47:18
Adam
On TV?
47:18
Yeah.
47:20
Slash
On CNN. No, I didn't catch his last show today. Oh, really?
47:24
Caller
All right.
47:25
Adam
We got to take a little break. We'll get back to the masturbatory question with Slash and Drew and me and you after this.
47:33
Caller
All right, guys, here's the deal.
47:34
Caller
You're looking to hook up, sick of wasting time with the wrong person?
47:38
One call's all you need to make.
47:39
Call the Dateline.
47:40
Caller
877-889-DATE.
47:43
Caller
Call the Dateline.
47:50
Love Line will be right back.
48:26
Caller
Hold on a second, the show's starting.
48:28
Adam
Slash is telling me how he rambling on here. Sold his pajamas on eBay to get some studio equipment, I think. No, it was for like age charity. It's a love line. I'm Adam Corolla. That's Dr. Drew over there in Washington DC. What's the weather like over there, Drew?
48:44
Drew
I got to circle for a couple of hours over DC and observe the thunderstorms that I was flying into.
48:50
Adam
Oh.
48:51
Drew
That's nice.
48:52
Adam
They had in a little holding pattern there?
48:54
Drew
Yes.
48:55
Slash
How did you get that little effect in there so quickly?
48:59
Adam
Anderson is super fast. Super, super fast. Well, let's do a little test. Let's see how fast Anderson's fingers are. So, there was a thunderstorm over DC.
49:12
Drew
Yes.
49:14
Adam
Was it windy as well?
49:17
Drew
Wow. It was a little windy.
49:21
Slash
People were screaming in the streets.
49:23
Adam
Yeah. That ain't screaming. Now, Drew, when you landed and got off the plane, I mean, was it to fanfare? Were people cheering?
49:35
Drew
No, it wasn't that big a deal. We actually picked up some time going to cross country. We ended up being a half hour late.
49:42
Adam
I see. I see. Did you eat at the airport? Because sometimes that food can give you gas. All right. You didn't get drunk on the plane, did you, Drew?
49:54
Drew
No, not even on our view.
49:56
Slash
Thank you.
49:57
Adam
You didn't have any beer on the plane? No. Okay.
50:01
Slash
Were you to go to the bathroom a lot?
50:02
Adam
Did you have to go to the bathroom? I mean, if you drink sometimes on the plane, you got to take a leak.
50:09
Slash
I guess he doesn't have that.
50:15
Drew
I got Angel on the line. She's 36.
50:16
Slash
All right.
50:17
Adam
I'm just trying to have a little fun. Angel, you're 36.
50:19
Drew
Go ahead. I'm not sure I want to hear it.
50:21
Slash
I just turned 36.
50:22
Adam
Hello? Go ahead. Angel?
50:25
Caller
Yes.
50:26
Adam
What's up?
50:27
Caller
How you doing? Good.
50:28
Adam
What's up?
50:29
Caller
Well, I got a problem. I need some advice.
50:32
Adam
Turn your radio down though, right, smart guy?
50:35
Caller
Okay. Hold on a second.
50:36
Adam
All right.
50:36
Caller
Turn your radio down.
50:38
Adam
Turn your radio down.
50:40
Caller
Okay. Hold on. I'm turning it down now.
50:43
Adam
All right. Is there someone in the room or are you just yelling at the stereo?
50:49
Caller
No. There's somebody in the room.
50:51
Adam
Okay. Good. What's up?
50:53
Caller
Well, I have a problem. My penis is so large. Wait.
50:59
Slash
I have a funny feeling here.
51:01
Caller
What?
51:02
Adam
Yeah. I already don't believe you, Angel.
51:04
Caller
No. Not really. I have a problem because, you know, it's like I hurt all the girls I go out with, you know.
51:09
Adam
Right. I am a big boy. With that large penis.
51:13
Slash
Do I know this person?
51:14
Adam
Yes.
51:14
Caller
Yeah. Maybe you can, you know, is there some kind of surgery or something I could have done?
51:19
Adam
Does this voice sound familiar to you this way?
51:21
Slash
It sounds very familiar.
51:23
Adam
Who is this?
51:24
Caller
Hello.
51:24
Slash
Yvonne.
51:25
Caller
This is Angel.
51:26
Slash
Okay. Yeah, I know.
51:28
Adam
Who is it?
51:28
Slash
It's my girlfriend's brother. It's my fiance's brother.
51:31
Adam
Oh, really? Is it Yvonne? Is that his name?
51:34
Slash
Well, Ivan, Yvonne, Yvonne.
51:36
Adam
Ah.
51:37
Slash
Is that you?
51:38
Caller
Yeah.
51:38
Slash
That's Angel. At first, I fell for it, though, for a second there.
51:44
Caller
But it's true, you know. I really do have a problem, you know.
51:46
Slash
You never mentioned anything about that.
51:49
Caller
You know, maybe you could help me out here.
51:52
Adam
Now, hey, now, what should we call him, Yvonne, or should we call him Ivan, or should we call him Angel?
51:58
Slash
Angel.
51:59
Adam
Angel.
52:00
Caller
Yeah. Well, I guess my cover is blowing now.
52:02
Adam
Right. Your sister is Slash's fiance?
52:07
Caller
Yeah.
52:08
Adam
Yeah. That's pretty cool, right?
52:10
Caller
Yeah, it is.
52:11
Adam
I mean, she could have married some guy who worked at a tire store.
52:15
Slash
I don't think so.
52:17
Adam
Well, I mean, theoretically growing up, she didn't have to marry Slash, or at least get engaged to Slash. That's got to have its perks.
52:25
Caller
Yeah, I guess.
52:26
Adam
You go over the house?
52:28
Caller
Yeah.
52:28
Adam
He lets you in?
52:30
Caller
Yeah, he lets me in.
52:30
Slash
He's staying with us.
52:32
Caller
Really?
52:32
Slash
Yeah.
52:33
Adam
Oh, Jesus.
52:34
Slash
Yvonne. Yeah. You knew I was going to recognize your voice.
52:40
Caller
I was hoping you didn't.
52:41
Slash
All right. It only took a couple of seconds.
52:43
Adam
Yvonne, what do you do?
52:45
Caller
What do I do?
52:45
Adam
Besides hang out at Slash's place?
52:48
Caller
Um, hang out at Slash's place.
52:50
Adam
Oh, Jesus. I really wish my sister married a rock star.
52:55
Caller
Right.
52:55
Adam
She married a Nazi architect. They're living in my house, so I'm screwed.
53:00
Slash
Drew, you got answers for his ailment?
53:03
Caller
No.
53:04
Adam
You really have a big penis?
53:06
Caller
Yeah, man. I got this terrible, you know? It's like this girl I want to go out with, but you know, she's so little and so fragile, you know? This girl I want to go out with.
53:15
Slash
She throws up every time.
53:16
Adam
Scared you're going to break her. All right. Hey, Angel, listen, you're living at Slash's place. I'd like you to have some nice eggs waiting for him when he gets off the show tonight. You know what I'm saying? And clean the place up, too.
53:29
Drew
Right, sir.
53:30
Adam
Earn your keep is what I'm saying.
53:31
Caller
The place is pretty clean.
53:32
Adam
No, but I know this, Angel. Sitting around playing video games all day and smoking your reefer, right?
53:37
Drew
No.
53:37
Caller
No, not really, man.
53:39
Caller
I quit that already.
53:40
Adam
All right. But now, do you take care of business over there?
53:44
Caller
Yeah, pretty much.
53:45
Adam
All right. You guys will be moving to Malibu soon. You play your cards right. All right. But seriously, Slash is going to need something to eat when he gets back, right?
53:53
Slash
No, I'm not even hungry. Don't worry about it.
53:55
Adam
Well, just make him like an English muffin or something. It's more the thought that counts. Adrian?
54:00
Hi.
54:01
Adam
You're 19. What's up?
54:03
Caller
Okay. When I have sex with my boyfriend who I'm in love with, it doesn't feel like anything or at times it's very uncomfortable.
54:11
Drew
You're lesbian, of course you mean.
54:13
Caller
Yeah. I know that most girls can't orgasm, but it doesn't even feel good at all.
54:17
Drew
Does it hurt?
54:19
Caller
It's uncomfortable.
54:20
Slash
How long have you been together?
54:21
Caller
Five months.
54:22
Drew
Is there a size problem there too?
54:25
Caller
Is there a what problem?
54:26
Drew
Size problem.
54:27
Caller
A what?
54:28
Drew
Size problem.
54:29
Adam
You got a big dork?
54:30
Caller
No, no, definitely not a size problem.
54:32
Drew
Oh, definitely not that. That's good. He's not listening.
54:34
Adam
He just drove off a cliff if he's listening. Oh, no, no, definitely not that. And then laugh afterwards.
54:41
Caller
I think he's normal. It's not size.
54:45
Adam
And this is painful intercourse.
54:48
Caller
It can be uncomfortable.
54:49
Drew
Does it go for too long? Does it go for too long?
54:52
Adam
Oh, no way.
54:54
Drew
Not that new.
54:55
Adam
Tiny. Are you kidding?
54:58
Drew
Tiny minute, man? No, no, no, does it go for too long?
55:02
Caller
No, no, it's usually probably around 10 minutes.
55:06
Drew
It's not lubricate normally. Do you lubricate normally?
55:09
Caller
Oh, yes.
55:10
Slash
Naturally? Naturally?
55:13
Caller
Well, we have oral sex before, so it is natural.
55:15
Drew
And then do you orgasm during that?
55:17
Caller
Yeah, definitely.
55:18
Drew
Well, so maybe maybe he ought to do the oral sex afterwards. Maybe you're just uncomfortable at that point. Some women complain that things are sort of sensitive after the oral sex and it's uncomfortable to have sex then.
55:29
Caller
Do you think there could be something wrong with me?
55:31
Drew
Well, you're having sex, you're 19, you need to get pelvic exams regularly. That needs to be done.
55:36
Caller
Okay.
55:36
Drew
All right. You got to do that. So go ahead and do that and discuss that with the doctor, the symptoms you're having. But I actually think it's the fact that you're having the oral sex first.
55:43
Adam
Does he give you the orgasm first and then you have intercourse? Yeah. Well, what do you guys think? Were you from Poland?
55:50
Slash
You ever tried it the other way around?
55:52
No, I haven't.
55:52
Adam
No, the orgasm is how you know you're done.
55:56
Okay.
55:56
Adam
That finishes you off.
55:58
Caller
Okay.
55:58
Adam
So you start, okay, let me...
56:00
Slash
Does he orgasm too and then you guys get into it?
56:02
Caller
Yeah.
56:03
Adam
Well, wait a minute. How does he have his orgasm?
56:06
Caller
Well, he can sometimes. Sometimes it can't. But either he orgasms for me and then he makes me orgasm and then we have sex or...
56:14
Adam
He orgasms for you?
56:17
Caller
No, no, no. Not for me. He orgasms, then I orgasm, then we have sex and sexual intercourse.
56:22
Drew
I can't follow this.
56:24
Adam
You're like one of these people who you put your pants on, then you put your underpants on over your pants, then you put your belt on over your underpants. Yeah.
56:33
Slash
No, but there's like a million different options just besides the one that you're using. Yeah. It's a little bass awkward.
56:38
Caller
Yeah.
56:39
Adam
Your order screwed up. Okay. Let me explain your sexual menu, because you guys are starting with the dessert, and you're finishing with the liver.
56:48
Caller
Okay.
56:49
Adam
Okay. That's not how it should work.
56:51
Slash
You could say steak or something.
56:53
Adam
Yeah, but it's liver because it's not that good.
56:55
Drew
It's a brisket.
56:55
Adam
That's what I'm saying. It's not even a brisket. All right. Here's how you do it. First, you make out. Okay. You do that for a few minutes.
57:06
Drew
Go ahead. Bring out the baseball diamond, Adam.
57:08
Adam
Then he does, then he manipulates your brass a little bit. Yeah, you move along the diamond, first base, second base. Then he goes down, feels you up a little down there, gives you a little lubrication, gets you moist, puts it in. You have the intercourse for 10 minutes. Then it starts to get a little sore. Then he slides down and finishes you off with some oral sex. All right. You got that? Finish with the oral sex. Because I think if you have the orgasm first, it could be, I don't know, distracting at best to have the intercourse after you have the orgasm.
57:44
Drew
It could be uncomfortable.
57:45
Adam
And where does he get his boner from?
57:48
Drew
From the neighbor. What do you think?
57:49
Adam
Does he rent that thing? Where does he get that?
57:51
Caller
I don't know. It just happens, I guess.
57:53
Drew
He's 19, Adam. You've forgotten what that's like.
57:56
Slash
He's fine with the whole thing, though. He's not having any problems, right?
58:00
Caller
No, he doesn't have any problems.
58:01
Adam
And you give him oral sex, he has his orgasm, and then he has intercourse with you?
58:05
Caller
No, not right after, no.
58:08
Adam
Right, but in the same session?
58:10
Caller
Yeah.
58:11
Adam
Okay. I don't know where you guys figured this out, but you had to-
58:14
Slash
Just try and mix it up.
58:15
Adam
You're like holding the manual upside down or something. I'd let him finish you off with the oral.
58:20
Caller
Okay.
58:21
Adam
All right?
58:21
Caller
Thank you.
58:22
Adam
All right. And think of me the whole time. Oh, God. And the order.
58:26
Drew
That will make it go on for quite some time.
58:28
Adam
All right.
58:29
Slash
There's a scream right there.
58:31
Adam
Victoria?
58:33
Caller
Yeah.
58:33
Adam
You're 28?
58:34
Caller
Yeah.
58:35
Adam
You're on with Slash.
58:36
Caller
Hi.
58:37
Slash
Hi.
58:38
Caller
Okay.
58:39
Where's the doctor?
58:40
Adam
I'm here.
58:40
Slash
He's there.
58:41
Oh, okay. All right. I have a situation. I don't know if it's a question.
58:45
Adam
All right. Go ahead. Go ahead.
58:46
Okay. So let's say like after you've had sex with your dude and it's like a good 30, 40 minute, like upside down on the seat. It's like a good session. Do you know what I mean?
58:59
Drew
It's good for you.
59:00
No 10 minute thing. Yeah.
59:02
Drew
Do you like it to go a long time?
59:03
No. I mean, I'm not saying I don't, but like I'm done way before.
59:08
Adam
All right.
59:08
Drew
Hold on.
59:09
Adam
Drew, please. How many times I warned you about talking to the caller?
59:12
Drew
I know.
59:13
Adam
It always throws them off.
59:14
Drew
Well, here's the first answer to anything I say. No, no, no, no. I don't like it a long time. No. No, no, no.
59:20
Caller
No what?
59:21
Drew
Do you like it a long time? No.
59:24
Caller
I mean, I'm not saying I don't. Sometimes I do, but...
59:26
Adam
No. Just shut up and ask a goddamn question, please. And Drew, stop talking. It always throws them off.
59:32
Drew
Generally, you don't.
59:33
Adam
No.
59:34
Caller
After I'm done with this thing, after this 30, 40-minute romp, and it's only with these two certain guys, and they don't actually have big honkers.
59:41
Adam
Right.
59:41
Caller
They're just normal.
59:43
Adam
Right.
59:43
Caller
I feel like I'm regutted. I feel like I have a steel pole went through my body.
59:49
Drew
You shouldn't do it that long. Many women find it terribly uncomfortable to go more than 10 or 20 minutes.
59:56
Caller
Yeah. That's not a good thing. It's not uncomfortable, because I keep coming, but after when I'm done, I feel like there's a hole in me.
1:00:02
Drew
You need to lubricate more. You need to use these lubrications.
1:00:04
Adam
Well, isn't there a hole in it?
1:00:06
Drew
Pay attention.
1:00:06
Slash
But also, does it just feel, it just feels bad after you used it?
1:00:09
Caller
I can't even put my underwear on after.
1:00:10
Slash
You should just stop when it starts to feel like that, because it doesn't make any sense. It's like if you come already.
1:00:17
Drew
But this is the interesting thing, Adam. How would you know how to stop if you, as a male, could have multiple orgasms?
1:00:22
Adam
You wouldn't.
1:00:23
Drew
You'd go over that.
1:00:23
Caller
Is that the guy just holding out and holding out when I've already come like four times?
1:00:28
Drew
Not necessarily.
1:00:29
Adam
Wait, hold on.
1:00:30
Drew
Some guys just go a long time.
1:00:31
Adam
What's up with the two guys?
1:00:33
Caller
Well, just because I have sex with two different guys.
1:00:36
Adam
Hold on. Let me run that down.
1:00:37
Caller
With the condom. Thank you.
1:00:38
Slash
At the same time or?
1:00:39
Caller
No, no, no. These are just the two guys that make my body feel like this when I'm done.
1:00:44
Adam
You stinking whore. Oh, that wasn't me. Well, it was, but.
1:00:47
Slash
And they're both like Jack Rabbits.
1:00:49
Caller
Is that normal? Because the guy on the phone I asked, he said that that was not normal. So that's why I was going to ask you.
1:00:54
Drew
What is what not normal?
1:00:55
Caller
That I feel like like a steel.
1:00:57
Drew
No, you're doing you're doing something. No, you're doing something that really irritates you and hurts you.
1:01:02
Caller
And you need to pay attention.
1:01:04
Drew
I don't know whether you're just getting irritated from the friction or whether you're actually injuring something inside.
1:01:09
Adam
Hold on a second. Talking to Victoria is like playing handball against the curtains.
1:01:14
Drew
Yeah.
1:01:14
Adam
You know what I mean?
1:01:15
Drew
Yep.
1:01:16
Adam
Like she asked the question and says, like, Drew, you just answer. Is that normal that it feels that way?
1:01:23
Drew
Anderson just came on here and said, it's this one of Slash's friends.
1:01:27
Adam
No way.
1:01:28
Drew
Yes.
1:01:29
Adam
Are you kidding me? Is that another one of Slash's friends?
1:01:32
Drew
Yes. Yes.
1:01:34
Adam
Really?
1:01:35
Drew
Yes.
1:01:36
Adam
Victoria?
1:01:37
Caller
Yeah, that's me.
1:01:37
Slash
Victoria.
1:01:38
Adam
Are you living with Slash too?
1:01:40
Caller
I have sex too.
1:01:41
Adam
Are you a sister-in-law?
1:01:41
Slash
No, that is Victoria right there.
1:01:42
Caller
No, I'm not a sister-in-law. I'm just his girlfriend's homie.
1:01:46
Adam
Are you having sex with Angel?
1:01:48
Caller
No, but I guess he wants to bone me. I don't like to bone guys with big honkers. I had to break up with a guy in high school from that because it was too big.
1:01:54
Adam
Me too. Was his name Derek?
1:01:58
Caller
No.
1:01:58
Adam
Okay, different dude.
1:01:59
Caller
It was totally nice, but I just could not do it. It was painful to me.
1:02:05
Adam
No, but wait a minute. But is this your regular question or are you just screwing around with Slash?
1:02:10
Caller
No, I wasn't asking Slash because he's not a doctor. So I figured it wasn't for Slash. It was for the doctor.
1:02:14
Adam
Okay, well now, I'm not going to be as hard on you because you're a friend of Slash's, but shut the F up for a second and let Drew answer your question.
1:02:23
Drew
I answered several times that she's going on for too long and too vigorously. She's basically traumatizing her insides.
1:02:31
Caller
I don't like me going, whoo, come on.
1:02:33
Drew
Yeah, well, how about you going, stop, enough. This is uncomfortable, enough, stop. You have a right to do that. That's fine.
1:02:40
Caller
Okay, can I ask just one more question? Yeah. Because this is what I feel it is. I feel like he's holding out to like have longer sex.
1:02:48
Drew
Maybe they are.
1:02:48
Adam
He's trying to punish you.
1:02:49
Drew
Maybe they are. But why don't you ask him to tell how long he's comfortable for you?
1:02:53
Caller
Is that a guy thing?
1:02:54
Drew
Not for 40 minutes. Guys that hold out will hold out for like 10 or 20 minutes.
1:02:58
Adam
Okay. It is the first couple of passes because you're trying to impress the girl. But after you guys sort of mellow into that groove.
1:03:06
Caller
Then it shouldn't be like that.
1:03:07
Adam
Yeah. So tell him you're getting sore. That's all right. Just go ahead and tell him.
1:03:12
Caller
I was about to at one point but then I thought, all right, we're almost done.
1:03:15
Drew
What is it with women that they're afraid to speak up about this stuff? The men, he's going to be delighted that he made you so hard.
1:03:20
Adam
Yeah. He'll tell all his buddies the next day.
1:03:23
Drew
He'll be fine with it. Believe me.
1:03:25
Adam
All right. All right. So just tell him. All right.
1:03:27
Caller
Flash, you rock so hard. Flash has the ****ing problem.
1:03:33
Adam
All right.
1:03:33
Caller
Wait a minute.
1:03:34
Slash
Vicky's cool though.
1:03:34
Adam
She's using the F word. Who the hell are you hanging out with? The Mexican Mafia?
1:03:38
Slash
She's a friend of ours.
1:03:39
Adam
What the hell's going on over there? Angel and Victoria. These are my homies. I was thinking about something which was, I went water skiing, wakeboarding last week. I went up to Big Bear and got up on one of these **** wakeboards. Here's the deal. You will get sore from this just like you will get sore from sex because you're enjoying yourself and you're having a good time and you don't want to let go. Meanwhile, you're pulling every muscle in your god damn body but you don't feel it at the time because you got such an adrenaline rush and you're going 30 miles an hour and the water's spraying in your face and you're screaming. This is what sex is. You're pulling things, you're hurting yourself, you're stretching stuff, but it feels good and you just ride with it and then you're sore the second you stop.
1:04:24
Slash
Right, and then you keep doing it.
1:04:26
Adam
Right, so you got to know in advance. Melissa?
1:04:30
Caller
Oh, hey.
1:04:30
Adam
Do you know Slash? Are you a friend of his? You live with him right now?
1:04:34
Caller
No, I don't, I swear.
1:04:35
Adam
All right.
1:04:36
Caller
It would be cool to know him, but I-
1:04:38
Adam
Well, you could move in.
1:04:40
Caller
Maybe.
1:04:40
Drew
Evidently.
1:04:41
Caller
That might be nice. Anyhow.
1:04:43
Adam
Drew, hold on. Why don't any of your homies ever call the show, Drew?
1:04:47
Drew
I got no homies.
1:04:48
Adam
That's right. Good answer. All right, go ahead, Melissa.
1:04:51
Caller
I'm keeping really in.
1:04:52
Caller
Okay. I have a question for Dr. Drew.
1:04:54
Drew
Yeah.
1:04:55
Caller
I was wondering if Paxil like kind of cured or put off or whatever, obsessive compulsive diseases.
1:05:03
Drew
It's one of the ones that's good for OCD. Prozac actually is probably the most powerful for that. Luvox is another one, but Paxil can be too. All the serotoninreptic inhibiting drugs do have some activity for OCD. What do you do? Pull your hair or something?
1:05:17
Caller
No, I cut myself.
1:05:18
Drew
Wow. Well, that's not so much OCD. That's cutting.
1:05:22
Caller
Oh, really?
1:05:23
Drew
And that's a different thing typically. And that really shows how intense your emotional distress is, that you really have nothing else to manage this with other than cutting on yourself. And certainly Paxil will help with decreasing some of that emotional intensity. Do you see a psychiatrist?
1:05:38
Caller
No, I just went and saw my doctor.
1:05:40
Drew
No. Did you tell them you were cutting on yourself?
1:05:42
Caller
I told him and he was like, oh, well, I also told him like I kind of have psilothoic.
1:05:46
Drew
No, you need to see a psychiatrist.
1:05:48
Caller
I was like, oh, well, that's normal for people her age.
1:05:50
Drew
No, no.
1:05:52
Slash
No, no. It's normal if what?
1:05:54
Adam
For people her age.
1:05:55
Drew
No, no, no. No, no, no, no.
1:05:58
Slash
That's bad.
1:05:59
Drew
It's important that you see a psychiatrist, okay?
1:06:02
Caller
Okay.
1:06:02
Drew
It's really important.
1:06:04
Caller
Well, I'm supposed to call back soon and could I get him to like prescribe me any? Because I kind of had to like ask him for antidepressants.
1:06:11
Drew
Look, you're going to need, you need more. Yeah, you need some therapy, you need some medication and Paxil is just sort of a slopshot. There may be better things for you.
1:06:19
Adam
Is this HMO?
1:06:21
Drew
Yeah, of course. OCD. And you need a proper diagnosis. All we know now is you're a cutter. You need to figure out what your diagnosis is.
1:06:29
Adam
All right. Yeah. So this is what you get with these.
1:06:34
Slash
I didn't know they had drugs for that.
1:06:36
Adam
Oh, yeah. Yeah. All right.
1:06:38
Slash
Obsessive compulsive. That could be like with anything, right?
1:06:41
Drew
No.
1:06:42
Adam
Yeah.
1:06:43
Slash
Yeah.
1:06:43
Caller
Yeah.
1:06:43
Adam
You could transfer to anything. JR?
1:06:47
Caller
Yeah.
1:06:47
Adam
You're 21?
1:06:48
Caller
Yes, I am.
1:06:49
Adam
What's up?
1:06:50
Caller
Not much. How are you guys doing tonight?
1:06:51
Slash
Good.
1:06:53
Caller
Good. Well, I met this woman this summer. I went out. I got invited to go camping.
1:07:03
Drew
Oh, camping. Did we change that name?
1:07:05
Adam
Yeah. I changed camping to raping because there's nothing but sex that goes on camping. Although it doesn't sound like you got any, JR Well, no, I didn't.
1:07:14
Caller
We were camping and there were about 40 of us. A bunch of us had just met.
1:07:20
Slash
There was only one ton.
1:07:21
Caller
A lot of the people there was a lot of my fraternity friends and then some of their friends.
1:07:26
Adam
So what happened?
1:07:27
Caller
Well, we were drinking one night and it started raining and everybody else went to bed. I was left there with this older woman and she's 34.
1:07:35
Drew
Ancient.
1:07:36
Caller
We went out and sat in the jeep for a while and talked and got to know each other better.
1:07:41
Drew
Did she just end some sort of long-term relationship?
1:07:44
Caller
Is she?
1:07:45
Drew
Did she just end a long-term relationship?
1:07:47
Caller
She just got divorced and remarried.
1:07:49
Drew
There you go.
1:07:50
Slash
Divorced and remarried. Maybe we can catch that.
1:07:52
Adam
She got remarried, huh?
1:07:53
Caller
Yeah. Her husband passed out.
1:07:56
Adam
Okay. He got drunk and passed out?
1:07:58
Caller
Yeah.
1:07:59
Adam
She sat in the jeep with you in the rain. What happened?
1:08:02
Caller
We talked for about an hour. I really thought that she was pretty neat and stuff. Then we started kissing a little. Then we decided that we should go back to the campsite.
1:08:14
Caller
She's married, dude.
1:08:16
Caller
Be what?
1:08:16
Drew
She's married.
1:08:18
Caller
Yeah.
1:08:19
Adam
Yeah. Her husband's got a hunting knife and he's 20 yards away.
1:08:23
Slash
You're out in the middle of nowhere.
1:08:24
Caller
He was huge too.
1:08:26
Adam
Yeah.
1:08:26
Drew
This woman sounds seriously disturbed this one. She's married, divorced, married, and then been hanging out with 21-year-old.
1:08:34
Adam
All right. What do you want to know, JR?
1:08:36
Caller
Well, we've been keeping in touch and she wants to meet me this weekend.
1:08:40
Adam
Yeah. She's, yeah.
1:08:42
Caller
I don't really want to, but my little brother tells me I should.
1:08:46
Adam
Well, sure. When a 15-year-old tells you to get laid, you jump. Right.
1:08:51
Drew
Stay away from this is serious trouble.
1:08:53
Caller
I just want to get your advice, Adam.
1:08:55
Drew
Don't go anywhere near this. This one's serious trouble. It really is.
1:08:58
Adam
She's real chaotic, this one.
1:09:00
Drew
Yeah.
1:09:00
Adam
It's something you'll understand later on in life that some women have the chaos gene and she has it.
1:09:07
Drew
Big time.
1:09:07
Adam
And she has a big husband and she may just be using this to screw with him. So I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow found out about it after it happened. You could be a marked man and your little brother could then become the older brother. Because you'll be in the ground. I wouldn't screw with it, Jared. Just go find yourself a nice 20-year-old chick to buff, would you? All right. Are you that desperate?
1:09:32
Caller
No.
1:09:32
Adam
All right. Well, then do it. And stop listening to your kid brother. How old is he?
1:09:38
Caller
He's 19.
1:09:39
Adam
All right. Don't listen to him.
1:09:41
Caller
Okay.
1:09:41
Adam
All right. Kick his ass, too. It's important to kick his ass on a regular basis, because they start getting cocky.
1:09:46
Slash
Keep him in check.
1:09:47
Adam
Yeah. Here's what a mistake a lot of guys make.
1:09:49
Slash
Because it's not going to be his problem when the problem comes around. Right.
1:09:53
Adam
Right. A lot of guys kick their little brother's ass from like 0 to 15, and then they lay off in their adult life, and that's a big mistake. You got to keep kicking the guy's ass like well into your 40s. All right. We're going to take a little break. Slash is here. Drew is over there in DC, and we'll be right back.
1:10:12
Caller
Hello.
1:10:13
Drew
This is Loveline.
1:10:14
Caller
1-800-LOVE-191.
1:10:37
Adam
Hey everybody, Love Line. I'm Adam. That's Dr. Drew's over in Washington, DC tonight. He'll be back in the Loveline studio next week. Don't worry. Slash is here. Slash is going to be on stage with Michael Jackson at Madison Square Garden September 7th and 9th?
1:10:53
Slash
And 10th.
1:10:54
Adam
And 10th. And that's going to air on CBS. So just check them listings and look for it. I want to talk to Desiree, who's on line four, who's got a question for Slash. Desiree?
1:11:08
Caller
Hi.
1:11:09
Adam
Hey.
1:11:09
Caller
How are you guys? Good.
1:11:11
Adam
Good.
1:11:11
Caller
Slash, I am such a big fan. You guys, you were the first just rock band that my mom let me buy your tape for an album.
1:11:20
Caller
Really?
1:11:20
Caller
Yeah. I was like probably 14 at the time. 1989.
1:11:26
Caller
Right.
1:11:26
Slash
Usually at 14, we were the one band you weren't supposed to buy the CD for.
1:11:31
Caller
I drove her crazy with it.
1:11:34
Caller
I wanted to know how old were you when you started playing guitar?
1:11:38
Slash
15.
1:11:39
Caller
15?
1:11:39
Caller
And did you teach yourself?
1:11:41
Slash
I had a couple tips from a couple of people just to sort of get started and then I taught myself from there or learned myself is the way it's put.
1:11:50
Adam
15 seems a little late for a guy who plays a guitar like you.
1:11:54
Slash
Somebody else told me that too.
1:11:56
Caller
Wow.
1:11:58
Caller
You guys, I remember me and the girls get together. I mean, I'm 27 now. Me and the girls get together and something comes on the rock station and we're just like, oh man, do you remember that?
1:12:08
Caller
It's just total trip.
1:12:10
Slash
Oh, that's cool.
1:12:10
Caller
Thanks. You guys are so great. And I'm sorry I didn't get to see you. My mom wouldn't let me go to the concert or anything.
1:12:17
Slash
Yeah, the record's enough.
1:12:19
Adam
I think I saw you guys open in Los Angeles for the Stones, I think. Was it the Who or the Stones?
1:12:26
Slash
No, it was the Stones.
1:12:27
Adam
It was the Stones. Yeah. Was that the Coliseum?
1:12:30
Slash
We did four shows at the Coliseum in 1989 and 1990.
1:12:35
Adam
That was great. That must have been great.
1:12:37
Slash
It was actually, it was a serious, it was like one of those things where for us, it was us going down the tubes and then getting back up. You know what I mean? It's like, instead of getting up there and going downhill, we were going downhill when we got up there. You know what I'm saying? We broke up on the first show, managed to do the second show, then made up again on the third show, and then managed to do the fourth show and kept going from there.
1:13:03
Adam
I sort of remember, I think Axl had like a little meltdown or something on one of the shows.
1:13:08
Slash
Oh yeah. There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.
1:13:11
Adam
But when you guys like, let's, let me give me an analogy. Like when you play football and the quarterback drops back to pass and the receiver runs the wrong route.
1:13:21
Slash
That's so funny, that's the same analogy I use.
1:13:23
Adam
When he comes back to the huddle, the quarterback's pissed.
1:13:26
Slash
Right.
1:13:26
Adam
And because he made him look like an idiot out there, maybe almost got him killed. Would that go on on stage?
1:13:33
Slash
Yeah, there have been a lot of times, like I said, I use that same analogy because the way things are as a team, as in a band, you're basically like a football team, and somebody's got to have your back all the time. And so when somebody drops out, you just leave the other guy hanging. It starts to, a lot of the ill feelings start to collect between the guys.
1:13:52
Adam
Well, would some of the stuff happen just from on stage performance, like somebody missed a beat or screwed something up or?
1:13:59
Slash
Well, that's not that big a deal. That's just what you call making, making mistake you try not to do and if it happens, it happens. But when it's walking off stage or decide you don't want to play this song all of a sudden in the set or whatever, it's something that really affects all the other people in the group, then you got a problem.
1:14:20
Adam
Were you guys touring with the Stones then or did you just open in LA?
1:14:25
Slash
We just did those four shows in LA.
1:14:27
Adam
Who the hell else was on that?
1:14:29
Slash
Oh, In Color was on?
1:14:31
Adam
Oh yeah, no wait a minute. It wasn't In Living Color.
1:14:35
Slash
Living Color.
1:14:36
Adam
Living Color.
1:14:36
Slash
Living Color, sorry.
1:14:37
Adam
Right.
1:14:37
Slash
Yeah.
1:14:38
Adam
We were both halfway there. Yeah, that was good. That was nice. That was good times. That's at the Coliseum. I don't know if they have anything in there anymore. It was bad times for you, but I had a good time. AJ?
1:14:51
Caller
Hi.
1:14:52
Adam
You're 16?
1:14:53
Caller
Yeah.
1:14:53
Adam
What's up?
1:14:54
Caller
I just want to like, like, oh man, Slash is so awesome.
1:14:58
Caller
Oh man.
1:15:00
Caller
Thanks. He's so awesome, man. Thank you. And, hey Adam, hey Drew.
1:15:05
Adam
Hey.
1:15:06
Caller
And, I've been like listening to Slash like forever and I have like all your pictures all over, like everywhere.
1:15:13
Caller
I don't even have the hair like you, man.
1:15:17
Caller
That's funny. I was wondering what, how, you had a pneumonia, right?
1:15:21
Slash
Right.
1:15:22
Caller
A couple of months back.
1:15:23
Slash
Yeah.
1:15:23
Caller
So, you didn't make it to the ACDC show?
1:15:26
Slash
Yeah. We did one ACDC show the first time around and then the second time around we didn't tour with them. So, yeah. We missed a gig here.
1:15:33
Caller
Oh, they had like another band, like Wide Mouth something?
1:15:37
Slash
I can't remember exactly.
1:15:38
Caller
Oh, yeah.
1:15:40
Adam
Did you go to the show, AJ?
1:15:41
Caller
Yeah. I went to the show.
1:15:43
Adam
And you missed Slash in the Snake Pit?
1:15:45
Caller
Yeah. But ACDC was still cool, you know?
1:15:48
Adam
Yeah.
1:15:48
Slash
ACDC was rocking. That was a good tour.
1:15:50
Caller
Yeah.
1:15:51
Caller
That was a bummer. You didn't go.
1:15:53
Slash
Yeah.
1:15:54
Adam
Well, let's not live in the past. Come on, AJ. You all right? There'll be many, many, many concerts for you in your long future, all right?
1:16:03
Caller
When are you going on tour, Slash?
1:16:05
Slash
We just finished one, so actually I couldn't tell you exactly when we're going to go back out.
1:16:09
Caller
Oh, really?
1:16:10
Adam
Yeah. You're out in North Hills, right? Yeah. You want to swing by the house and maybe lay down a few licks on a strat? Yeah, sure.
1:16:16
Slash
Les Paul, Les Paul.
1:16:18
Adam
I mean, Les Paul?
1:16:19
Slash
Yeah, that would be me.
1:16:19
Adam
That's the guitar?
1:16:20
Slash
Right.
1:16:21
Adam
Yeah, I don't know anything about guitars. All I know is they're really cool, but to me it'd be like learning a foreign language. I couldn't even begin to start.
1:16:31
Slash
That girl that called earlier just reminded me that I've been playing guitar for 16 years now.
1:16:35
Adam
But you were really good when you were 20, right?
1:16:38
Slash
Well, I started professionally when I was about 19.
1:16:42
Adam
So you hadn't played that long at that time.
1:16:45
Slash
I don't know if I was all that good at that time, but I managed to make things work enough to the point where I just kept doing it. Right. I've been working at it. I'm still working at it.
1:16:54
Adam
Aaron?
1:16:55
Caller
Yeah.
1:16:55
Adam
You're 19?
1:16:57
Caller
Yeah.
1:16:58
Adam
Yeah.
1:16:58
Slash
Think about it. Yeah.
1:16:59
Adam
What's up?
1:17:01
Caller
Well, before I get to the issue, can I ask two quick questions?
1:17:04
Adam
Hurry.
1:17:05
Caller
Adam, what beer do they use on the man show?
1:17:08
Adam
We drink Sam Adams. The audience gets cheap beer, but we get the same as.
1:17:16
Slash
What's the cheap beer?
1:17:18
Adam
I don't know. We give them like Paps or something.
1:17:21
Caller
That's hard. All right.
1:17:23
Caller
What cigarettes do you smoke?
1:17:25
Slash
I'm looking at them right now.
1:17:28
Caller
They're what?
1:17:28
Slash
Jatans. They're some French cigarettes.
1:17:31
Caller
All right.
1:17:33
Adam
You're writing a paper on substance abuse in the media?
1:17:37
Caller
No, I just want to drink what you drink and smoke with Slash Smoke.
1:17:41
Adam
Oh, okay.
1:17:41
Drew
You're gay.
1:17:43
Adam
That's good. Hold on. What?
1:17:45
Slash
Doesn't Dr. Drew do anything?
1:17:46
Adam
What kind of QALUs did you use to do Slash? Are they pharmaceutical?
1:17:49
Slash
No, the real ones, real 714s.
1:17:52
Adam
714s. All right. You got that, Aaron? Yeah.
1:17:55
Slash
All right.
1:17:56
Adam
So the real-
1:17:57
Slash
That was back in the day, wasn't it?
1:17:58
Adam
Right. What was that? Like ROAR? Like R-O-A-R-O-R-E-R. Right. ROAR 714.
1:18:05
Slash
Right.
1:18:06
Adam
All right. By the way, when you see like an old dude with that tat, that means he's like hardcore. Super hardcore. Drew, you got any of those?
1:18:15
Drew
What's that?
1:18:16
Adam
Those Queloads, those old Queloads?
1:18:18
Drew
Oh, sure. I'll bring them on Sunday night.
1:18:20
Adam
Yeah. Bring the bag in. Is it a pillowcase size bag or is it more of a Ziploc?
1:18:26
Drew
Yeah, Ziploc bag.
1:18:27
Adam
Well, bring them in.
1:18:28
Slash
Drew, do you have full prescriptions for Adam?
1:18:32
Adam
Oh, yeah. Yeah, just give me some sleeping pills.
1:18:34
Drew
Well, I don't actually fill a prescription. He calls it scoring.
1:18:37
Slash
Okay. Yeah, right?
1:18:39
Adam
Drew, I need to score. Yeah. Give me some sleeping pills every once in a while. It's good times. That reminds me, we got to talk off the air, Drew.
1:18:47
Drew
What?
1:18:47
Adam
I need another hit. You know what I'm saying? He's in Washington. Drew, what is this No Refill BS I read on the little bottle?
1:18:56
Drew
I have to contain you.
1:18:57
Adam
How about some refills, Mother F-er?
1:18:59
Drew
Monitor what you're doing, Mother F-er.
1:19:00
Adam
I'll take you down, man. You know those pills, man. They enabled me to work, man. They keep the juices flowing.
1:19:06
Slash
That's the guilt buffer.
1:19:07
Adam
Yeah, you don't want the juices to dry up, man, because your paycheck will dry up too. You hear me, man?
1:19:12
Drew
That, oh, God.
1:19:13
Adam
Okay, man. Where are we going now?
1:19:17
Slash
I don't know. I can't see that thing.
1:19:19
Adam
Drew, you want to talk to Dominique?
1:19:22
Caller
Hey, guys.
1:19:23
Adam
Hey. Oh, wait a minute. Is this Dominique, the dude?
1:19:25
Caller
Dominique.
1:19:26
Adam
Dominique. Oh.
1:19:27
Slash
Is it spelled with a Q-U-E?
1:19:29
Adam
Yeah.
1:19:30
Slash
Is it? Oh, okay.
1:19:31
Adam
That's not how you spell it. Is it Dominique?
1:19:33
Slash
No, it's I-C-K.
1:19:34
Adam
That's how you spell it?
1:19:35
Yeah. That's how my parents spelled it.
1:19:37
Adam
Well, stop it, would you, you idiot? Doesn't everyone call you Dominique?
1:19:41
Yeah.
1:19:42
Adam
And you just correct them every time?
1:19:43
Yeah.
1:19:44
Adam
Well, quit it. Stop it. Just spell it like a guy spells it. You don't have to go through your life correcting people.
1:19:50
Slash
It's real trendy right now to respell your name, Drew.
1:19:53
Drew
No, no. It's not the kids that have chosen to do it that way. It's their parents.
1:19:56
Adam
Well, listen, do me a favor. Switch the spelling and kick your dad in the nuts, would you?
1:20:01
Okay.
1:20:02
Adam
All right.
1:20:03
Yeah, I'll get it changed when I grow up.
1:20:04
Adam
You spelled Dominique like you spelled Dominique. Your dad was just high or he wanted a girl or something.
1:20:08
Something. I don't know.
1:20:09
Adam
All right. So what's up?
1:20:11
Yeah, I have a problem. I don't know if I'm gay or not.
1:20:13
Caller
Oh, boy.
1:20:14
Adam
Well, with the Dominique, you're gay. Dominique's not a gay name, but Dominique is.
1:20:19
Caller
Yeah.
1:20:19
Adam
Well, what's the deal? You ever been with a guy?
1:20:22
No.
1:20:22
Drew
Something happened when you were growing up?
1:20:24
No, the problem is that I like girls and everything. It's just like when I jack off or look up porn on the internet, I look up gay porn and I get better off that than looking up girls.
1:20:36
Slash
That's something pretty serious.
1:20:38
Adam
Yeah. That could be gay. Do you have a girlfriend?
1:20:44
Drew
No, not right now.
1:20:46
Adam
When you look at the gay erotica, what are they doing? Are they really getting into it? Yeah.
1:20:51
Some places.
1:20:52
Adam
Let me tell you, if you're a heterosexual guy and you see graphic depictions of gay erotica, I mean a guy's penis, another guy's ass or mouth or something like that, you will retch. It makes you physically yell. It's hard to look at.
1:21:08
Slash
It's usually very offensive kind of thing.
1:21:11
Adam
It is. It's like when you're switching around the channels and you see a guy getting eye surgery and you're just like, oh, I'm eating.
1:21:18
Slash
Like the learning channel. It was flipped by that real quick. Right.
1:21:21
Adam
I flipped by a guy. They had the guy's eyeball out of his socket. It's like, come on, give me a little heads up. I'm eating here. But here's the deal. Drew, I don't know if they can work this out, but wouldn't this be great for stuff that really kicks your ass that way? Just a little thing that hits the screen and says, five, four, three, two, one, two eyeball out of socket. Give you a little chance to change it. And by the way, I can't see boobs on at 8 o'clock in the evening. That's considered offensive. But a guy's got his, you know, some drifter got his eye pulled out by a meat hook. That's no problem at 8 o'clock in the evening. All right. So if Dominic is looking at Gay Erotica, then there's a good chance that he may be gay. But that's all right. You're going to have a good life. Go with it. You there, Dominic?
1:22:12
Caller
Yeah. That will make me bi then since I like girls too.
1:22:17
Drew
All I know is you're confused now that you are.
1:22:20
Adam
And bi is gay with a publicist. There's really not much such a thing as bi. You're going to be gay.
1:22:28
Caller
Okay.
1:22:29
Adam
Bi is you saying bi to heterosexuality and hello to gay.
1:22:32
Slash
Well, that just answered all his questions for me. He's like, okay.
1:22:35
Drew
Dominic, you were not sexually abused growing up.
1:22:36
Slash
Is that accurate? No. You don't have to worry about changing the spelling of your name.
1:22:40
Adam
Right.
1:22:40
Caller
I wasn't sexually abused, but my dad did beat me when I was growing up.
1:22:44
Adam
He beat you and he named you Dominic.
1:22:47
Caller
Yeah.
1:22:47
Adam
I mean, it's really, it's like a boy named Sue. He'd freak out if you were gay, right?
1:22:53
Caller
Yeah, actually he would.
1:22:55
Adam
Why did he spell your name that way if he didn't want you to go gay? I don't understand, but listen, you don't have to make a decision right now. You know what I mean? Yeah. You don't have to announce it or declare it. But it's not like a major and you're in college. If you're into guys, fine. If you're into chicks, fine. All right. If you're into both, fine.
1:23:14
Slash
I would say out of the confusion zone for as much as possible and get out of it soon.
1:23:19
Adam
Yeah. Here, let me tell you something about that computer too. I was thinking about this. The computer is the male diary. What a diary is to a chick is what a computer is to a guy. Think about this.
1:23:33
Drew
Lead no traces is what you're saying, right?
1:23:35
Adam
Well, what I'm saying is for years, chicks have been getting busted because their parents or their boyfriend or whoever, their brother gets hold of their diary and reads their diary and finds out all their deepest, darkest sexual feelings and thoughts and all that kind of stuff. The computer has become that for men.
1:23:51
Slash
You think?
1:23:52
Adam
Yeah, because we talk to people all the time where the chick hops on her brother's computer or boyfriend or husband's computer and finds all these websites he's been looking at, underage chicks or kiddie porn or, you know, male stuff and totally, yeah, totally bust the guy and it's irrefutable because it's backed up.
1:24:10
Slash
Oh yeah, well people, I've seen people on court TV and stuff that have been popped for that kind of stuff.

Adam
Right, and I'm saying if Dominic's dad is a pain in the ass and prone to violence and might freak out over his sexuality, be careful with that computer. Don't have your dad hop on that and go to the cult roundup section, and see a bunch of guys naked getting boffed over hay bales.
1:24:33
Slash
Right, I got you.
1:24:34
Adam
You got me? Yeah. All right. We're going to take a little break. Drew's in DC, Slash is here in the Loveline studio, and we'll be right back.
1:24:46
Caller
Um, back in a minute.
1:25:16
Adam
Oh, yeah. Everything's a mess in this studio.
1:25:19
Slash
Have you been on this side?
1:25:20
Adam
No. And I don't ever want to be in that chair. It's Loveline. I'm Adam. That's Drew. That's Slash over there with the bad headphones. And if anyone knows good headphones, it's Slash.
1:25:31
Slash
All right. This is actual headphones. It's not the Jack.
1:25:34
Adam
Okay. I'm sure they're junk. Drew's in DC. Slash is here. And let's see if we can power through some calls. Dustin, you're 18. What's up?
1:25:45
Caller
I had a couple of questions for Slash. And first of all, Adam and Drew, I'm a long time listener, long time caller, first time getting through.
1:25:50
Drew
Long time.
1:25:51
Caller
Really?
1:25:51
Adam
Great.
1:25:52
Caller
Yeah.
1:25:52
Drew
Wow.
1:25:53
Caller
And Slash, my band is fairly successful here in Bakersfield. We go to LA a lot.
1:25:58
Slash
Right.
1:25:59
Caller
And play Hollywood and everything. And I was wondering how we can get record companies to look at our band.
1:26:05
Slash
Well, every band is asking that same question in some way, shape or form. I don't know, start a buzz in LA. You know, if you think, well, that's where all the record companies are anyway. So if you got a good following in Los Angeles, you're bound to get some A&R people coming by and checking you out. And you know, the other way is to actually get in touch with different record companies and try and get some interest in a showcase or something like that.
1:26:30
Adam
Will A&R guys go to the whiskey and go to the Troubadour just on random weekend nights or weeknights?
1:26:37
Slash
You know, there's no formula for it, but usually they're supposed to be out there scouting if they're worth their weight and something.
1:26:43
Adam
What happened? What's the Guns N Roses story with that?
1:26:46
Slash
That was a word of mouth, but we'd basically gotten such a huge following in LA that it was hard to ignore the fact that when we played on a weekend, all of a sudden it would be pretty much chaotic or something like we're playing at the Roxy. So record company people would come down and check us out. But we were so notorious for being just unruly that we scared a lot of record companies off. But one guy in particular from Geffen, which is Tom Zutthot, stuck it in there and actually had the balls to sign us. It was the worst thing ever. Against the record companies, but it was the best wishes. Really?
1:27:20
Adam
Hey, Dustin? Justin. Oh, Justin.
1:27:23
Slash
Yeah.
1:27:24
Adam
All right. Well, LA is the place and you can hone your skills over there in Bakersfield, but you got to come out here and get your following.
1:27:31
Slash
Yeah, because you can send demos.
1:27:32
Caller
We do the coconut teaser all the time.
1:27:34
Slash
Right. Well, the coconut teaser is a dive for the most part. I don't know. I haven't been there in a while. But sending demos and all that stuff doesn't hurt.
1:27:41
Adam
Yeah. All right. You're 18. You just keep at it.
1:27:44
Slash
Yeah.
1:27:46
Adam
Remember, it's got to grow, right?
1:27:47
Slash
It's a grind.
1:27:48
Adam
It is. You do it theoretically because you love it.
1:27:52
Slash
Yeah. It's supposed to be fun though. You're not supposed to take that part of it so seriously, but at the same time, it's also expensive. You pay to play and all that.
1:28:00
Adam
Kayla?
1:28:00
Caller
Yeah?
1:28:01
Adam
You're 13?
1:28:02
Caller
Yeah.
1:28:03
Adam
What's up?
1:28:04
Caller
I'm a really big fan of Slash, and I've been a big fan of Guns N Roses for like two years, and I was wondering if your new music is anything like Guns N Roses, like if it's the same sound or what?
1:28:19
Slash
Well, my guitar sound is the same. For the most part, I use the same gear and all that stuff, and my approach is the same. But of course, Guns N Roses is a combination of five people, and that five people makes a certain sound. And so anything that I get involved with, the end result sounds like me with four other complete different individuals. So the overall sound is different, but the one common thread in there is my guitar sound.
1:28:46
Adam
All right, Kayla?
1:28:47
Caller
Okay.
1:28:47
Adam
Well, listen, you may like Slash's snake pit even better in Guns N Roses. So why don't you just go get the CD and find out.
1:28:55
Caller
Okay.
1:28:55
Caller
There you go.
1:28:56
Adam
All right. Good times, baby.
1:28:57
Caller
Thank you.
1:28:58
Adam
Thank you. Drew? Robert? Yeah. You're 16? Yeah. What's up?
1:29:04
Caller
All right. First off, I just want to say what's up, and I've been trying to get through for like two years now.
1:29:08
Adam
Really?
1:29:09
Caller
Yeah, I just got through.
1:29:10
Adam
How did Slash's two buddies get through so easily tonight?
1:29:13
Caller
I have no idea.
1:29:14
Adam
All right.
1:29:15
Caller
Slash, I'm a musician and you're a big inspiration. Adam, you're just fricking hilarious. I don't know.
1:29:24
Adam
Well, thanks.
1:29:24
Caller
I've been watching The Man Show for as long as I can remember. And Drew, I just listen to a lot of you do and I take a lot of what you say to heart, and it helps me. Yeah, exactly. And I have a question. There's this girl that I was seeing for a year. And through the entire time that we were going out, she kind of was manipulative of what I was and who I was. And she was trying to take control of my life. And she kind of led me on to this assumption that we were always going to be together and everything. And I knew, all right, at 16, it's just a load of BS. And now she's stalking you. Actually, no, now that I got another girl, she's a, she's, she, we got in a fight the other day and she called my parents telling me that I had got my girlfriend to chase her down and run her down and trying to get her out of my life. And when I told my parents the story, she basically, she was, she, when I didn't get in trouble, she was like, all right, so she went to my teachers about it.
1:30:27
Adam
All right, but listen, you're not having any kind of relationship with her anymore, right?
1:30:32
Caller
No, no, no, I mean, there's times when she'll come up to me and she'll say, I'm sorry for what happened. And she'll try and, and like, and.
1:30:40
Adam
Okay, but you're not in, you're not into her anymore?
1:30:44
Caller
I mean, I kind of am. I mean, they're always feeling for it.
1:30:47
Slash
There's always a tricky part to the agreement.
1:30:49
Adam
Here's the deal, Robert. You can't dance with her at all. If she's nutty, she's chaotic, and if you want her out of your life, you've got to keep her out of your life.
1:30:59
Caller
She's got really big problems like her dad.
1:31:01
Drew
Yeah, we get that.
1:31:02
Adam
We understand all that. And so here's the deal. If you give her a little servicing once every other month, that's going to keep her in your life.
1:31:11
Slash
It keeps fueling the fire.
1:31:13
Adam
Right. Even if you, it's like it resets the calendar back to zero.
1:31:18
Drew
That's right.
1:31:18
Adam
So you've got to be strong and you've got to be firm. And if you don't want her in your life, you've got to keep her out. And if you do that, she'll get distracted and get bored and get out pretty quick. But if you renew this dance every couple of weeks, then she's going to want to dance.
1:31:36
Caller
I mean, I don't want to be a dick about it. I mean, we've built up such a friendship.
1:31:40
Adam
Such a friendship. She's calling your parents saying your girlfriend tried to run her over.
1:31:44
Caller
Yeah.
1:31:45
Adam
What kind of friendship is that?
1:31:46
Caller
I know. And it's a bad situation. I just, I don't know.
1:31:50
Adam
All right. But let me... Robert, listen, understand this concept because I think Drew knows it well and I'm sure Slash knows it better than any of us, which is some women are chaotic and they need chaos and they need that. It's like guys who get into fights every weekend. It's never their fault that just some a-hole at the bar started it, but yet it's the same dude getting into the same fray every single weekend. They need it, they may not like it, but they need it. That's what their life is. So you are going to get into this with her every week for the rest of your life. If you don't just, cold turkey, she calls, you hang up. You see her in school, you turn down the other hall. That's it and it'll go away pretty fast, but you can't keep renewing it.
1:32:37
Drew
Yeah, that's it.
1:32:39
Adam
All right, let's take a little break. We'll be back with Slash and Drew after this.
1:32:44
Caller
All right, guys, bottom line, here's the deal.
1:32:46
Caller
Looking to hook up, sick of wasting time with the wrong person.
1:32:49
Caller
One call is all you need to make.
1:32:51
Caller
Call the Dateline. The Dateline.
1:32:52

Adam
Well, there it is.
1:33:32
Caller
Thank you.
1:33:34
Caller
There it is.
1:33:35
Adam
Another fine week of Loveline in the can. I want to thank producer Anne for putting her feminine stink on the show and doing a great job, and booking big name acts like Slash. I also want to thank Damien for doing a great job, effing up the spelling on everyone's name on the phone screens. I want to thank Tara, don't call me Tara, for doing a wonderful job on the phones and lead coffee and all that stuff, and of course Anderson for using those magic fingers. He's the one who sucks. Pushing buttons that say stuff like that. I want to thank Slash for coming in here.
1:34:08
Slash
Thanks for having me.
1:34:09
Adam
Good to see you and always is enjoyable.
1:34:12
Slash
Very interesting evening.
1:34:13
Adam
Yeah. Don't make it so long next time. Come on back anytime you like. Yeah.
1:34:19
Slash
I'll be around, so I'll be working on this record, so I'll pop in every week.
1:34:22
Adam
Please, please do. And until next time, this is Adam Corolla for Dr. Drew saying mahalo. Here we come a truckin in.
1:34:29
Caller
Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
1:34:31
Adam
Bet you wonder where we been.
1:34:32
Caller
Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
1:34:34
Adam
We're a team that can't be beat.
1:34:36
Caller
Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
1:34:37
Adam
Cause we're funky on our feet.
